Number 179, the Lancashire Heeler.
Heelers as a breed is very old and have been used as livestock herding dogs for as long as they have existed.
Until the end of the 19th century, there were many local variants in England.
One which is thought to have originated from crosses between corgis and Manchester terriers was found in Lancashire.

Standing Ready | Lancashire Heeler | New York
The Lancashire Heeler is a cute little dog.
I only learned about the Lancashire Heeler a couple of years ago.
I have only had an opportunity to photograph the Lancashire Heeler twice.
The Lancashire Heeler standing perfectly ready in the show ring gives a good representation of the size and shape of this dog. I think that is really helpful for anyone not familiar with this breed of dog.

Today's Dog: The Lancashire Heeler! There's not much I can say about this breed in terms of show winnings, as this year is the first they will be shown at Westminster, and to my knowledge they aren't shown at the NDS. These are small herding dogs who typically work with cattle. They are considered endangered, and were likely bred out of Pembroke Welsh Corgis!
Today's Monkee: The Kind of Girl I Could Love! This was released on More of The Monkees (1967), and features all of the Monkees on backing vocals with Mike on lead. Mike wrote this with Roger Atkins, who also wrote one of the songs on Davy's 1965 pre-Monkee album!
