Uhh Camilla’s children and grandchildren are private citizens and do not draw any funds from the Duchy of Lancaster
Camilla isn’t spending like mad either - she’s wearing her usual sort of clothes and usual jewellery etc. she rewears a lot and is also the Queen consort too
Also any money that Charles gives to his stepchildren and step grandchildren is his own private money and he is allowed to do so like any stepfather and stepgrandfather
Hi Nonny,
I'm glad that you sent this in, as it gave me a nudge to research what money The King gets from where.
The King draws his money from 3 sources: his own private fortune, the Sovereign Grant, and the Duchy of Lancaster.
The Sovereign Grant comes from the Crown Estate, which had had assets worth £16.5bn in 2022, including almost £8bn of properties in London, including Regent Street, as well as nearly half the land along the coast of England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
The Sovereign Grant is 25% of the profits of the Crown Estate generated two years previously. All the profits go to the Treasury, and the Government hands this amount back to the monarch..
The Sovereign Grant is spent on expenses related to the official duties of The King and other working royals. According to Forbes, 10 percent of the family's cut goes toward maintaining Buckingham Place. The remaining 15 percent is used to cover costs associated with hosting formal events, royal family travels, payroll, and housekeeping.
The Duchy of Lancaster is a privaye estate passed down from monarch to monarch. It covers more than 18,000 hectares of land in areas such as Lancashire and Yorkshire, as well as property in central London. Worth £654m, it generates about £20m a year in profits.
The King receives the profits from the Duchy of Lancaster and can spend the money as he wishes. He is not entitled to any proceeds from the sale of any estate assets, which must be reinvested.
Security arrangements are usually paid for by the Metropolitan Police.
The monarch also owns the royal palaces (which are not part of the Crown Estate) and part of the Royal Collection of art, and private properties such as Sandringham and Balmoral. He may also have private art collections, jewellery, and other assets that he can do with as he wishes.
So if The King is giving any money to his stepchildren and step grandchildren, then it should come from the Duchy of Lancaster or any private fortune that he possesses. Ditto for any private gifts he gives to his wife or any money he puts aside for her future.

Shadows of Duty and Love Chapter 1: The Covert Assignment
Word Count: 882
Warnings: None
Gaz x Fem!Reader ︶꒦꒷♡꒷꒦︶︶꒦꒷♡꒷꒦︶︶꒦꒷♡꒷꒦︶︶꒦꒷♡꒷꒦︶
The night was shrouded in darkness as Sergeant Kyle "Gaz" Garrick made his way through the treacherous terrain of the war-torn region. He was a seasoned soldier, a man who had seen it all, but tonight's mission was unlike any other. He was alone, far from his SAS comrades, and the weight of his assignment pressed down on him like a suffocating blanket.
The memories of his journey from the Duke of Lancaster's Regiment to the elite SAS were a vivid montage in his mind. He remembered the grueling training, the camaraderie of his fellow soldiers, and the countless tests of endurance that had molded him into a lethal weapon of the British Army.
"Four years," he whispered to himself, thinking back to those early days. Four years of test flights, jump competitions, and marksmanship training had been the foundation of his transformation into a soldier of unparalleled skill.
The arduous selection process had tested his physical limits and mental fortitude. He recalled the relentless drills, the unforgiving instructors, and the bond he formed with his fellow candidates. The motto of the SAS, "Who Dares Wins," had been a constant source of motivation, and it had driven him to succeed where others had faltered.
But it was more than physical strength that had set him apart. It was his unwavering loyalty to his team and his unshakeable commitment to his country. That loyalty had been the driving force behind his decision to enlist, and it was the same force that now led him deeper into the hostile territory.
The weight of his gear was familiar, comforting even. It was the weight of duty, of responsibility, and of a commitment that ran deep in his veins. As he checked his equipment one final time, he couldn't help but think of the faces of his fallen comrades, those who had made the ultimate sacrifice for their mission and their country.
Tonight, his mission was clear: eliminate a high-value target, a man responsible for countless atrocities. The intelligence reports had been unequivocal, and his loyalty to his country demanded that he complete this assignment.
As Kyle moved silently through the desolate landscape, the memories of his first tour of duty came flooding back. It was in Northern Ireland where he had truly learned the art of unconventional warfare. The tense streets of Belfast had been a battleground, and it was there that he had honed his skills as a soldier. The images of those days were etched in his mind: the sound of gunshots, the fear in the eyes of the civilians, and the camaraderie of his fellow soldiers.
The journey had continued through Bosnia, Turkey, and the ever-unpredictable regions of Iraq and Afghanistan. Each tour had been a new chapter in his life, marked by the struggles and triumphs of a soldier at the frontlines. He had faced the horrors of war and the complexities of counter-terrorism, but he had never wavered in his dedication to the mission.
Kyle had become known for his expertise in prime target elimination, demolitions, weapons tactics, covert surveillance, and VIP protection. It was in Afghanistan that he had earned the Queen's Gallantry Medal and the General Service Medal for his role in disrupting opium supply lines—a significant source of terrorist financing. He had risked his life to sever the lifeline of the enemy, a mission that came at a great personal cost.
His last Middle Eastern tour had been cut short due to an ever-changing political climate and a growing intolerance for full-throated unconventional warfare. Fading support for western-backed guerrilla movements had complicated matters in the field. Men like Kyle were asked to do an imperfect job, perfectly well, without exception, no matter the cost. The weight of his actions, the lives he had taken and saved, were a heavy burden he carried.
Now, in the present moment, the moon cast a dim glow over the rugged landscape, guiding his path as he moved with the stealth of a predator. His every step was calculated, every movement deliberate. The weight of his gear was familiar, comforting even. It was the weight of duty, of responsibility, and of a commitment that ran deep in his veins.
As he ventured further into the heart of enemy territory, a conversation from the past echoed in his mind.
"You'll do great things, Kyle," his former SAS commander had said. "You're one of the best."
Tonight, as he inched closer to his target, Kyle Garrick couldn't help but wonder if those great things included taking a life. It was a necessary evil, he knew, in the name of justice and security. But the burden of such a decision weighed heavily on his conscience.
The memories of his journey, his commitment to duty, and the weight of his assignment mingled in the night. The darkness seemed to embrace him, but there was no comfort to be found. Only the knowledge that he was the last line of defense between his country and the horrors of the world.
Kyle's mind raced as he closed in on the target's location. His mission was fraught with danger, but he was prepared to face whatever challenges lay ahead. For now, his focus remained on the task at hand, a singular goal that overshadowed the memories of his journey.
Below are the upcoming chapters: Chapter 2: The Meeting
Chapter 3: Love and Loyalty

Hello my good sir, it seems stickers of this Von Brunk have infested my home town (Lititz PA). Is there a local photoshoot a-foot?
Good question. I've been doing sticker art for a while as a hobby, and as of recently I've been printing them in bulk and giving them out to fans, but also I've been putting them up myself. I'm originally from Lancaster County, so whenever I travel home I like to place the stickers around areas I travel. Lititiz in particular has a bunch of my stickers since some of my friends and family live there, and as I kid I used to play at that park on Broad Street whilst my mom would go shopping downtown.

Agreed that the monarchy is an outdated tradition that's largely been reduced to ceremonial role and source of tourism, but there are reasons why the Queen is respected and beloved:
- pushed for the transition from the British Empire to the Commonwealth of Nations, which replaced the old colonial power structure to a political union where members are self-governed and equal (not unlike the EU, ASEAN or the UN). It's been so successful that even countries that were never even part of the British Empire have voluntarily joined since it was created
- worked behind the scenes (using what limited power she had, and despite opposition from the British (and US) government) to push South Africa to end the Apartheid
- was a patron for over 600 charities and helped raised ~£1.5 billion for them over the course of her reign, and was hugely passionate about ending inequality of all kinds
- was the first British monarch to visit Ireland since their independence, and in her speech admitted the mistakes the British had made in the past and gave her condolences to the Irish for the atrocities commited, a highly unusual move which shocked the world and greatly improved the relationship between the two countries
- least significant, but the reason why she is so well adored, is because she was the one responsible for making the royals accessible to everyday people. Rather than sitting in a castle unseen by the common peasants, she was out on the street greeting people, making televised addresses to the public every Christmas, and just generally allowing the media to show the life of the Royal Family, something that was always kept secret previously
Is the Monarchy stupid and outdated in this day and age? Yeah, most definitely. But Americans don't seem to understand that the Monarchy hasn't actually been responsible for any political decisions for a large part of the last century, and the Queen isn't personally responsible for any of the bad shit that governments are doing - that's on the shoulders of old men and megacorporations, same as everywhere else. She's really nothing more than a kind grandma that loves her people, and THAT is why people love and respect her.
Funny that you would mention that horrid political decisions rests on the shoulders of old men and megacorporations since that’s precisely where the wealth of the royal family comes from, I mean of course aside from taxpayer dollars.
See the Sovereign Grant, collected via taxes and payed back to the royal family, amounted to around £82.2 million in 2019. Granted this grant is only afforded to the royal family should the surrender any profits made from the Crown Estate, but this is still £82.2 being shilled out for what equates to LARPing as an actual human being and not some financial leech and her little family of smaller more terrible leeches. This fund is only used to maintain upkeep on the royal families exorbitant estates, cover the entire families travel expenses, and pay for the royal employee payroll.
Expenses outside of that can be payed by the Duchy of Lancaster- a portfolio of lands and assets that is made up of residential, commercial, and agricultural properties. This brought in £20.7 in 2019 and is used to pay “expenses incurred by other members of the royal family.” This on top of personal assets of the Queen which make up for an unknown portion of wealth, but includes an expansive art collection (wonder who’s money paid for that art too), a couple of estates of her own, and assets passed down to her by previous monarchs (wonder how much of that is stolen from the lands Britain colonized).
Why yes I’m sure it’s very easy to donate and raise funds while sitting atop a pile of unearned generational wealth, much of which was inherited by a history of bloody colonialism, in your massive free palace courtesy of the people you love ever so much. All the while your shit stain of a royal family engage in so much bullshit that every few years you have to come out of your little hole and apologize for the abuse and ostracizing of another beloved spouse of one of your shitty shitty children while we all watch on in disbelief at our favorite government sponsored reality TV show. And sure I get it the royal family are millionaires not billionaires, they could be worse! They could be even more filthy rich for doing absolutely nothing!
As an American I can agree with you that I truly do not understand the monarchy or the role it plays in the lives of the British people. But as an American I can also spot a filthy governmental leech from a lightyear away. Generationally wealthy, holder of dozens of properties, and never truly working to hard for anything a day in her little life. Sounds like every single one of the men I hate most in this world.
With the monarchy Elizabeth and her rotted little family are England’s biggest celebrity spectacle of incest freaks including good ole king tampon. The Kardashians if they were less entertaining to watch be horrible people and funded by the American Government. Without the monarchy good ole Lizzie and her dear family are just every other generationally wealthy millionaire alive in the world today generating wealth that they put a pittance of back into their community, hoard the rest, and call it a day then head out to the golf course. And yes she has done some good, but whether she was actively leeching off the British people intentionally or not she was still complicit in profiting off the British people and inherited (from you know the gross colonial regime) generational wealth that let’s be honest was probably stolen in the first place.
It’s very cute that the parasite tried to pretend it wasn’t a parasite and did such a good job of it, but no matter how you slice it or however many christmases it’s there for a leech is still a leech. And now we’re left with king tampon and his gross little Vienna sausage fingers to continue the legacy of mooching off the government. People who love and respect this woman have been misguided into believing she’s one of the people in the same way Americans are tricked into believing a guy like Bezos ever pulled himself up by his bootstraps to do shit, and that’s that.
Tl;dr Queen Elizabeth is shit and you are not immune to propaganda

When the hammer came down on a Vincent Black Lightning motorbike at a Bonhams auction in 2018, an Australian collector paid $1.2 million to own the machine – making it the most expensive motorcycle ever sold.
And now an award-winning documentary, narrated by Ewan McGregor, tells the inside story of the motorcycle maverick behind the bikes, designer Philip Vincent. Speed is Expensive: Philip Vincent and the Million Dollar Motorcycle receives its American premiere in Los Angeles, CA, on September 20 – followed by selected theatrical screenings and digital and DVD releases.
Vincent motorcycles set more records during the 1940s and 50s than any other manufacturer. The bikes were years ahead of their time, and Philip Vincent pioneered what is now known as ‘guerrilla marketing’ – sponsoring LA racers, in secret, to compete in illegal back-street duels to promote his motorcycles. Owners include Brad Pitt and Ryan Reynolds. Yet when Vincent passed away in 1979 he was penniless and reduced to living in public housing –his family fortune and personal life were both exhausted by his obsession with speed. Ewan McGregor’s narration is joined by Vincent fans such as former Tonight Show host Jay Leno, and artist, musician and motorcyclist Paul Simonon of The Clash. The documentary also features the final interview with world champion on two and four wheels, John Surtees, who trained at Vincents.

Choosing the Right Tree Service: Ensuring the Health and Beauty of Your Trees
Welcome to Allegiant Tree Care, your trusted tree service provider in East Lititz, PA. As a homeowner, you understand the importance of maintaining the health and well-being of your trees. Trees not only enhance the aesthetic appeal of your property but also provide numerous environmental benefits, such as improving air quality, reducing energy costs, and providing shade and habitat for wildlife. However, keeping your trees in optimal condition requires the expertise of a professional tree service.
The Importance of Choosing the Right Tree Service
Selecting the right tree service is crucial for the long-term health and safety of your trees. Improper tree care can lead to a range of issues, from unsightly damage and disease to potential hazards that could threaten your property or even endanger your family. A skilled and experienced tree service provider can help you maintain the beauty and vitality of your trees, while also ensuring their safety and the protection of your investment.
When it comes to tree care, there is no one-size-fits-all solution. Each tree is unique, with its own set of needs and requirements. A reputable tree service will take the time to assess the specific needs of your trees and develop a customized plan of action to address any concerns. From routine trimming and pruning to more complex tasks like removal or stump grinding, a reliable tree service can help you keep your trees healthy and thriving.
Researching Tree Service Providers
When it comes to selecting a tree service, the research process is crucial. You want to ensure that you are entrusting your trees to a reputable and reliable company that has the expertise and resources to meet your needs. Start by compiling a list of potential tree service providers in your local area. This can be done through online searches, referrals from friends and neighbors, or by checking with professional organizations like the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) or the Tree Care Industry Association (TCIA).
Once you have a list of potential providers, take the time to research each one thoroughly. Look for certifications and licenses that demonstrate their expertise and commitment to professional standards. Many states and municipalities require tree service providers to be licensed and insured, so be sure to verify that the companies you are considering meet these requirements. This will protect you from any liability in the event of an accident or injury during the course of the work.
Comparing Prices and Seeking Recommendations
Once you have narrowed down your list of potential tree service providers, it's important to compare prices and get a detailed estimate for the work you need. A reputable tree service will provide a transparent and itemized quote that outlines the cost of labor, materials, and any additional fees. Be wary of companies that offer suspiciously low prices, as this may indicate a lack of experience or quality of service.
In addition to comparing prices, it's also a good idea to seek recommendations from trusted sources. Talk to your neighbors, local landscapers, or even your local municipal arborist to get their insights on the best tree service providers in your area. Personal recommendations can provide valuable insights into the company's reputation, reliability, and the quality of their work.
When comparing prices and seeking recommendations, it's important to remember that the cheapest option may not always be the best choice. Instead, focus on finding a tree service that offers a fair and transparent price, while also demonstrating a commitment to professionalism, safety, and quality of work. By taking the time to research and compare your options, you can ensure that you are making an informed decision that will protect the long-term health and beauty of your trees.

experimenting with flaneur as a concept
After looking at flaneur magazine i wanted to experiment with the art of wandering, so Im collecting some images based on this to see what it turns ojt like.
Lancaster provided an interesting place to do this, specifically morecambe and bare seafront, I had never been before allowing me to explore in a way that meant i wasn't expecting anything or looking for anything in particular. I explored some of the textures, shops, buildings, and statues, and there was a surprising amount of street art/murals that meant i could gather more about the town even though it didn't seem like this.

[ad_1] Enjoy the rich cultural tapestry of this vibrant London community filled with quirky museums, a bustling market, and plenty in between with our guide to the best things to do in Notting Hill. LAST UPDATE: 16 Jan 2024 Anywhere We Roam is reader-supported. When you buy through links on our site, we may earn a small affiliate commission at no extra cost to you. Thanks for your support - Paul & Mark. Notting Hill has a vibrant and colourful past stretching back to the 1800s when it was first developed into a fashionable area for London’s upper classes. By the early 1900’s Notting Hill fell from grace and the rich moved to the more expensive Belgravia and Mayfair.   Following large-scale immigration to the UK in the 1950s, and a housing shortage, the grand properties in Notting Hill were converted into multi-occupancy dwellings and the area became significantly impoverished due in no small part to lawless landlords. Today, as gentrification has taken hold, Notting Hill is a vibrant neighbourhood with the Beckhams up one end and a rich cultural enclave at the other. As locals, we know the area well. Here’s our guide to our favourite things to do in Notting Hill. 1. SEE THE COLOURFUL HOUSES Following the gentrification of Notting Hill in the late 20th century, the homes that were previously multi-occupancy slums have steadily been transformed into colourful residences.   Lined up in charming rainbow-colored rows, the pastel-hued facades of Notting Hill are today one of the area’s star attractions. The most popular street is Lancaster Road, probably due to its proximity to Portobello Road. However, there is beautiful architecture all over Notting Hill. Elgin Crescent, Rosemead Road, and Lansdowne Road form an excellent circuit of colourful houses that you’ll often have completely to yourself. LANCASTER ROAD LANSDOWNE ROAD ELGIN CRESCENT 2. PORTOBELLO MARKET Portobello Road is the heart of Notting Hill and Portobello Market runs along its length. It’s one of the most popular things to do in Notting Hill and the buzz of the crowd creates a vibrant energy. The market is split into 4 sections, each with its own best day to visit. Vintage & Bric-a-brac Market: Friday, Saturday & Sunday Fashion Market: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday Fruit & Veg Market: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday Antiques market: Friday, Saturday In our opinion, the most interesting are the Vintage and Antiques Markets, making Friday and Saturday excellent times to visit. However, they are also the busiest days. Portobello Market Opening Hours: In summer the stalls are usually open from 8.30 am to 6 pm and in winter from 9.30 am to 5 pm. Thursday is half day operating from 9 am to 1 pm.  VINTAGE MARKET ALICES VINTAGE MARKET ANTIQUE’S MARKET 3. GRAFFIK GALLERY The Graffik Gallery on Portobello Road is an interesting space dedicated to street and urban art. They offer private graffiti masterclasses where you can learn the basic skills of spray paint with knowledgeable and friendly teachers. It’s a great activity for kids and they also take groups, making it a fun team-building exercise. You can purchase art from the store or visit one of the exhibitions they have throughout the year. All the details are on the Graffik Gallery website. GRAFFIK GALLERY, NOTTING HILL 4. ELECTRIC CINEMA The Electric Cinema is a stylish way to see a recent blockbuster or old-school classic movie by the people behind Soho House. It commenced operating in 1910 as one of the first motion picture house in Britain to be supplied with electricity. Despite a few intermittent shutdowns, it has been in almost continual use as a picture theatre since. The Edwardian Baroque interiors are decorated with sumptuous red velvet seats. You can select an armchair with a footstool, a front-row bed seat, or a back-row sofa. Food and beverages are provided by the onsite restaurant.   ELECTRIC CINEMA, NOTTING HILL 5. BRUNCH
Notting Hill is one of the best destinations in London for brunch. After strolling the market, there’s nothing better than sitting down to a quality breakfast and well-constructed coffee. Some of our brunch highlights in the Notting Hill area include the Electric Diner for their proper Ful English, Beam for their Middle Eastern-inspired plates, and Farm Girl for their healthy Aussie-inspired treats. Our full list is available on our guide: best brunch places in Notting Hill. 6. WESTBOURNE GROVE BOUTIQUES Notting Hill is a diverse area. Contrast the flea market feel of Portobello Road Market with the high-end boutiques on Westbourne Grove. The section of Westbourne Grove between Colville Road and Chepstow Road is packed with great reasons to visit. At the lower end towards Colville Road you’ll find designer shops including Soho Home Studio, Max Mara, Olebar Brown, Kooples, Toast, and Aesop. There are also some great dining options including Taquería, Wild Notting Hill, and Sumi. WESTBOURNE GROVE 7. BOOKSHOPS BOOKS FOR COOKS Books for Cooks is one of the most interesting things to do in Notting Hill. Shelves are crammed with every tasty title you could imagine, and well-worn sofas are wedged into corners for the benefit of cookbook junkies. The highlight though is the test kitchen sandwiched into the back of the store. Cooks try out unusual experiments from the books with a menu that changes daily based on what they can get their hands on from Portobello Market.   NOTTING HILL BOOKSHOP We’re sorry to say but the bookstore located at 13 Blenheim Crescent has been designed as a recreation of William Thackery’s bookshop from the Notting Hill movie, however, it’s not the one that was used in the film. If you can push past the crowds lining up for a photo, it’s still a lovely bookshop to visit. LUYTENS & RUBENSTEIN Luytens and Rubenstine is a small independent bookstore stocking selected titles across a broad range of genres. Operated by two literary agents, the focus is on excellent writing. Each book in the store has been hand-picked by someone who loves it. LUYTENS & RUBENSTEIN NOTTING HILL BOOKSHOP BOOKS FOR COOKS 8. MUSEUM OF BRANDS The Museum of Brands is a nostalgic journey through 200 years of consumer culture. Packed with memorabilia from Victorian times through to the modern day, the museum is stuffed with cultural markers. Find vintage prints, household products, old magazines, toys, and everything in between. The building was once the world’s largest centre for people living with HIV. Princess Dianna regularly visited patients in the memorial garden which is now part of the cafe. MUSEUM OF BRANDS 9. NOTTING HILL FILM LOCATIONS It’s hard to know whether the area has driven the recurring interest in the movie or visa versa. Either way, it’s left its mark on Notting Hill, not to mention it’s house prices. Here are some spots from the movie to collect on your visit. The Blue Door – The blue door to William’s flat is at 280 Westbourne Park Road. It’s easy to spot for the throng of people out front. Notting Hill Bookshop – As mentioned above, the bookstore located at 13 Blenheim Crescent is not the one that was used in the film. It is a faithful recreation so there’s no harm in grabbing a selfie out front. 142 Portobello Road – This is the location of the actual shop used for filming the bookstore scenes. During filming it was an antique shop, it’s now a souvenir store with the wrong sign. (In the film, it was called “The Travel Book Co” not “The Travel Book Store” which is what you see today. Coronet Theatre – This arts venue used to be a cinema and it was used when William and Spike were watching a film. Rosemead Gardens – This is the location of the private gardens where William and Anna climbed over the fence. ROSEMEAD GARDENS 280 WESTBOURNE PARK RD 142 PORTOBELLO ROAD 10. ACKLAM VILLAGE MARKET Opposite the Vintage Market, which you can visit on our Notting Hill walk,
you’ll find Acklam Village Market, an excellent destination for live music and street food. The International Street Food Market on Acklam Road sells eclectic mix of street food from around the world. You’ll find everything from noodles to falafel, plus Thai, Chinese, and of course, a decent curry. The street food market is open Friday to Sunday. The Acklam Village Market Bar (Saturday’s) hidden inside an old sports hall, has some of the best live music in west London. They champion locally sourced spirits and craft beer with a seasonal cocktail menu. Enjoy a beer in a cool venue while catching a live act. Check what’s on via the Acklam Village website. ACKLAM VILLAGE 11. NOTTING HILL’S SECRET BANKSY Hidden beside the stalls of the Acklam Village food market is the Banksy mural “The Painter.” Thought to be Spanish painter Velazquez, a bow-tied artist holding an easel and brush hand paints the words BANKSY in red lettering. It’s one of the oldest Banksys in London, having first appeared in 2008. It was covered by building works for several years but reappeared in 2020. You’ll find it on the wall of the Grand Hotel on the corner of Portobello Road and Acklam Road, however, you can only see it when the Acklam Village Market is not operating. BANKSY NOTTING HILL 12. ROUGH TRADE Rough Trade West is the oldest and smallest of the Rough Trade stores. They sell a collector’s array of vinyl, but you can also pick up books, merchandise, and stereo equipment. It’s well worth popping in for a poke around but they also feature regular in-store performances from a talented bunch of artists. They have a focus on unplugged and acoustic sets, as well as talks with musicians. See what’s on at roughtrade.com. ROUGH TRADE 13. ST LUKE MEWS A mews is a small traffic-free street found behind extravagant 18th and 19th-century mansion houses. They were used to stable horses of the wealthy and to provide accommodation for servants. They are a common feature of Notting Hill and today they have been converted into charming houses. St Luke Mews is one of the prettiest mews streets to visit in Notting Hill and it was the one featured in Love Actually. Colville Mews is often mentioned as a good mews to visit. However, this is probably because of the famous Union Jack covering one of the buildings which has now been removed. It’s very much a residential street and probably a good idea for visitors to give them their privacy back. ST LUKE’S MEWS 14. FARMERS’ MARKET As locals, the Notting Hill Farmers’ Market is one of our favourite things to do. Even if you’re visiting the area, it’s worth popping in for a look. They stock organic produce from local farmers including the freshest fruit and veg, amazing wild mushrooms, the best goat’s cheese you’ll find anywhere as well as fresh pasta, meat, fish and much more.   Apart from the quality produce the area is a great part of Notting Hill to visit. Nearby you’ll find Kuro, one of our favourite cafes in Notting Hill, as well as Greek restaurants Suzi Tros and Mazi. The Farmer’s Market is in the Fox Primary School on Edge Street W8 7PP. 15. NOTTING HILL CARNIVAL The Notting Hill Carnival is a celebration of the Caribbean Community, taking place on the August bank holiday weekend every year. The carnival was forged out of the Notting Hill race riots in the 1950’s and by 1976 it had a distinctly Caribbean flavour. Today, you can expect to be celebrating with around 2 million people making it the largest street festival in Europe. Stay up to date on the official Notting Hill Carnival website. A woman's body was discovered in a car trunk, and a man was arrested.
A man, Matthew Switalski, was arrested for murder after a woman's body was found in the trunk of a burned vehicle in Lancaster. The suspect, Switalski, is the owner of the home where the victim, Veronica Aguilar, 27, was found. The two were believed to be dating at one point. On December 20, emergency crews responded to a fire burning at a home in the 41400 block of 38th Street West. Heavy smoke and fire came from the garage, and two charred vehicles were found inside, along with Aguilar's body in the trunk of a car. Switalski was later determined to be a suspect in the woman's death and was taken into custody on murder charges. The events leading up to Aguilar's death remain unclear as authorities continue investigating the case. It's unfortunate; may she rest in peace as justice is served.

Jessica Frances Grégoire Lancaster, East Village
By Jesse James Thompson
#InHerStudio Photo: Jesse Thompson
I met Jessica through NYU. She had graduated from my program two years prior to me. I always felt she was a beautiful enigma, walking white corridors with baskets for purses, hair to her waist, and nails that could draw blood. I wanted to know more about her and her work.
She lives on a quaint block. Her front room faces the street, and there’s a long desk next to a window. There are foam floor coverings everywhere and artworks stacked upon one another against the walls. The landslide of work fills the hallway back to her bedroom. The smell of oil paint competes with the scented candle she lit in the kitchen. Glass panels refract the afternoon sun.
