Every woman’s experience is unique, but here are some common early pregnancy symptoms:
Missed Period: One of the first and most common signs. If your cycle is regular and your period is late, take a home pregnancy test.
Morning Sickness: Nausea and vomiting can start as early as 4-6 weeks, and despite its name, it can occur at any time of the day.
Breast Tenderness: Soreness, swelling, and darkening of the areolas happen as your body prepares for breastfeeding.
Fatigue: Pregnancy hormones can make you feel unusually exhausted, sluggish, and in need of extra rest.
Food Cravings & Aversions: Sudden changes in appetite, such as cravings for spicy food or an aversion to coffee, are common.
Mood Swings: Hormonal shifts can make your emotions fluctuate, leaving you happy one moment and teary the next.
Bloating & Mild Cramps: As your uterus begins to expand, you may experience bloating or mild cramping.

Last Wednesday I had my laparoscopic operation to remove my right ovary and the endometriosis that was around my uterus and wherever else it was found. I had to stay in overnight unfortunately due to how nausea I was. Didn’t help that when I was coming round from general anaesthetic that my heart rate dropped to 10bpm.
My wife thought I had got it wrong when I told her and then the nurse confirmed it. I think she internally shat herself.
It was successful and I’m having my stitches out tomorrow. Slowly recovering and my cat is very much enjoying me being at home.
I hope my periods won’t be so agonising once my body is back to normal because my days, they were absolutely hell.
I hope I never have to endure an operation ever again because of how rough I felt after but with high chances with Endometriosis it will comeback if I’m unlucky.
It’s good to be back to see my mutuals still existing!

Is Laparoscopic Surgery Painful?
There’s an increasing demand for laparoscopic surgery in Navi Mumbai lately. The reason is its minimally invasive nature. With smaller incisions, it’s obvious that the recovery period will be much shorter than that in traditional surgery.
It’s performed as a diagnostic procedure (to look into your stomach and the pelvic floor for a detailed image of your internal organs) or as a surgical procedure (to fix the underlying issue). A commonly asked question among women undergoing laparoscopic surgery is, “Is the procedure painful?” Let’s find out.
Understanding Laparoscopic Surgery
The surgery is performed using a laparoscope, a rod-like tool with a camera at the end. The tool is inserted into your abdomen with a small cut, around half to one inch in length. The video camera attached to the laparoscope creates a clear picture of your internal organs on the monitor.
With real-time monitoring, the surgeon can move the laparoscope and execute the surgery precisely. The procedure is highly recommended when other non-invasive tests, such as ultrasounds, MRIs, blood tests, and CT scans, have failed to show accurate results. It’s also performed to collect tissues for biopsy.
Pain Levels During and After Surgery
You won’t feel anything during the surgery, as anesthesia (general or local) is used to numb the area. Despite being a minimally invasive procedure, laparoscopy can cause mild pain and discomfort after surgery. The pain can be managed with medication. Shoulder pain after surgery is also pretty normal.
It occurs because of the carbon dioxide used to inflate your belly to get a clear view of the organs. Apart from pain, you might notice bloating, which is another common side effect. It should resolve within a few days, though.
Here’s what affects your pain perception after laparoscopy:
Your Pain Tolerance: Everyone has a different pain tolerance level. Some have the ability to cope with extreme pain, while others might not be able to handle mild pain. It varies from person to person.
Surgery Type: Laparoscopy performed for a simple diagnostic procedure will be far less painful than the surgery for endometriosis, fibroid removal, and other complex surgical procedures.
Surgeon’s Performance: Pain level after laparoscopy also depends on your surgeon’s performance. A qualified and experienced general surgeon in Navi Mumbai can execute the surgery without damaging the surrounding tissues. This can reduce postoperative pain.
Psychological Triggers: Patients with anxiety, fear, stress, and other mental issues might have a lower threshold for pain than people who are calm.
Managing Pain Post-Surgery
Mild pain after laparoscopy is usually not a cause for concern. Here are a few tips you must follow to ensure less operative pain and faster recovery:
Get adequate rest
Eat nourishing foods and drink plenty of water
Get pain medication
Practice gentle movement and go for a walk every day to stay fit and prevent blood clotting.
Make sure you follow up with your surgeon for 2-3 weeks following the surgery. They will assess your incision site and overall health. See your doctor immediately if you have bleeding from the incision site, excessive pain that doesn’t respond to medication, fever, and other signs of infection.

Laparoscopy in Gynecology: A Modern Surgical Advancement

Laparoscopy, often referred to as minimally invasive or keyhole surgery, has revolutionized how gynecologic conditions are diagnosed and treated. It represents a significant shift from traditional open surgeries by offering a safer, faster, and less painful alternative. For women facing gynecologic issues that require surgical intervention, laparoscopy provides a less invasive path to recovery.
As more patients and doctors move toward this advanced technique, it is essential to understand what laparoscopy involves, its benefits, and why choosing an experienced laparoscopic surgeon is key to successful outcomes.
What is Laparoscopy?
Laparoscopy is a surgical technique that allows doctors to view and operate on the pelvic and abdominal organs without making large incisions. The procedure involves inserting a thin tube with a high-definition camera (a laparoscope) through a small incision, usually in the navel area. Additional tiny incisions are made to introduce surgical tools if treatment is required.
The laparoscope transmits images to a video monitor, enabling the surgeon to see inside the body in real time and perform precise interventions. This technique is used for both diagnostic purposes and surgical treatments, making it highly versatile in gynecology.
Common Gynecologic Conditions Treated with Laparoscopy
Laparoscopy is commonly used to treat a wide range of gynecologic conditions, including:
Endometriosis: A condition where tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside the uterus, often causing pain and infertility.
Ovarian Cysts: Laparoscopic removal of cysts can preserve healthy ovarian tissue.
Uterine Fibroids: Minimally invasive fibroid removal can be done without a large abdominal incision.
Hysterectomy: The uterus can be removed using laparoscopy in selected cases, resulting in less recovery time than open surgery.
Ectopic Pregnancy: Early treatment can be life-saving and less traumatic using laparoscopic methods.
Infertility Evaluation: Laparoscopy can help identify issues like blocked fallopian tubes or pelvic adhesions.
Because laparoscopy provides a direct view of the pelvic organs, it is more accurate than imaging techniques alone in many diagnostic situations.
Benefits of Laparoscopic Surgery
The popularity of laparoscopy in gynecology is largely due to its many advantages over traditional open surgery:
Minimally Invasive Only a few small incisions are required, reducing tissue trauma and blood loss.
Faster Recovery Most patients return to normal activities within a week. Hospital stays are shorter, with many procedures performed on a day-care basis.
Reduced Pain Smaller incisions lead to significantly less post-operative pain and discomfort.
Minimal Scarring Since the incisions are tiny, the resulting scars are minimal and often barely noticeable.
Lower Risk of Complications The risk of infection and wound-related issues is much lower compared to open surgery.
These advantages make laparoscopy the preferred approach for women who want effective treatment with minimal disruption to their lives.
What to Expect from the Procedure
Before undergoing laparoscopy, patients undergo a thorough preoperative assessment, including blood tests and imaging if necessary. Fasting is required for several hours prior to surgery, and the procedure is performed under general anesthesia.
During the operation, the surgeon inflates the abdomen with carbon dioxide gas to create space for viewing and working. The laparoscope and any needed instruments are then inserted through the incisions. Depending on the complexity, the surgery can take anywhere from 30 minutes to a few hours.
Recovery typically begins a few hours after surgery. Some shoulder pain or abdominal bloating is normal due to the gas used during the procedure. Most patients are mobile the same day and can return home within 24 hours.
Why Surgeon Experience Matters
While laparoscopy is a safe and effective procedure, it requires a high degree of skill. The success of the surgery depends not just on the tools used but also on the expertise of the surgeon performing it.
For women in Mumbai seeking quality care, choosing an experienced and trusted specialist is critical. One such expert is the Best Gynaec Laparoscopic Surgeon in Andheri East, Mumbai – Dr. Milind Chauhan. Known for his clinical precision and compassionate approach, Dr. Milind Chauhan at Nurturing Petals brings years of expertise in advanced gynecologic laparoscopic procedures. His focus on minimally invasive methods ensures better patient outcomes with faster healing and fewer complications.
A Safer, Smarter Choice for Women's Health
The shift toward minimally invasive techniques like laparoscopy reflects the ongoing improvement in women's healthcare. Whether you’re managing chronic pelvic pain, facing a complex diagnosis like endometriosis, or seeking a fertility evaluation, laparoscopy may offer a safer, more efficient solution.
By understanding the procedure and selecting a qualified specialist, women can take greater control of their health and recovery. If you’re considering laparoscopic surgery, consult your gynecologist about whether this approach is right for you. With the right care and guidance, a quicker return to wellness is well within reach.

I had a surgery to check for endometriosis!
.....I don't have endometriosis. Now I just temporarily have extra holes in me for no reason. :(
Obviously I'm glad I don't have a difficult and progressive disease. But also now we still don't have answers as to why my periods have always been so ridiculously severe except that I'm Just Like This.
It's especially weird because my mom had endometriosis (and cysts and fibroid). Maybe my uterus just had yet to evolve into it's final most diseased form.
On the bright side they placed a Mirena while they were at it to try to control said periods (the Nexplanon stopped working for me) and I didn't have to be awake for it.
This was all a very big step for me because I have such severe health anxiety and emetophobia. I will probably make another post about that part later but I was and continue to be very brave. UwU So, if anything I think that is a benefit of having this done.
