PLANTA, el nuevo proyecto de los ex Perras on the Beach LANZA SU NUEVO SINGLE “AMANECER”

Planta es la firma más reciente de Virgin Music Group Argentina y lanza “AMANECER”, su nuevo y primer single del año. El track es el segundo lanzamiento de planta, el nuevo proyecto de los ex Perras on the Beach: Simon Saieg, Fabricio Foresto, Rodrigo Martínez e Ignacio Laspada. Luego de su vuelta como grupo con la salida de “SPOT” en septiembre del año pasado, el grupo edita “AMANECER,” producida por Fermín Ugarte en conjunto con planta.

El single musicalmente nos plantea un contexto más electrónico al mostrado en el track anterior, plagado de samples y grooves pegajosos y bailables. Líricamente hablando, relata sobre la unión del grupo y el sentimiento de compañía y aguante entre ellos pese a las adversidades.

Planta es el nuevo proyecto de música pop / electrónica / experimental formado por 4 ex integrantes de Perras On The Beach. Tras la separación de POTB los artistas Simón Saieg, Fabricio Foresto, Ignacio Laspada y Rodrigo Martínez siguieron su legado musical y a mediados del 2020 empezaron a darle forma a una propuesta novedosa que rompe con todos los esquemas. Tras 4 años de un íntimo proceso creativo empiezan a salir a la luz los primeros singles de planta, producidos por Fermín Ugarte entre 2022 y 2023, los cuales serán parte de un EP que recorre distintos paisajes de este nuevo universo que es planta dialogando con la cultura de la música pop y electrónica de una manera muy orgánica. “SPOT” fue el primer track producido por Fermín Ugarte y anticipó el sólido concepto que propone planta. El grupo se permite a jugar con varios géneros dentro de un mismo track, donde igualmente predomina el pop, dándole protagonismo a un paisaje nocturno que estará presente siempre.

Do you have anything on Buddy Rogers defending a supermarket clerk and getting a chair thrown at him?

You bet! This is a column written for the Chicago Tribune by Bob Greene on August 21, 1989. In 2002, Greene would be forced to resign from the newspaper after what was euphemistically described as “a romantic encounter that stopped short of intercourse” with a 17-year-old. Anyway, the column:

If all the news seems dismal to you these days, and you`re thinking that nothing you read in a newspaper has the potential to cheer you up, do not despair. Here`s a little something guaranteed to make your day.

On a recent morning in Lauderdale-By-the-Sea, Fla., the cooks and waitresses in a sandwich shop called LaSpada`s Original Hoagies were getting ready for the lunch-hour rush.

Suddenly a huge, angry man burst through the front door. The man-later identified by police as Theodore Terhune, 29, of nearby Pompano Beach-allegedly started screaming obscenities and calling the female employees the foulest possible names.

Terhune turned to leave the sandwich shop when he noticed a customer. The customer was a 68-year-old man.

“What are you looking at?” Terhune said to the 68-year-old.

“I don`t think you talked to those girls very nice,” the 68-year-old man said.

Terhune allegedly cursed at the customer, and then said, “If you want a piece of me, old man, let`s go.”

This was a bad mistake on Terhune`s part.

The “old man” was Buddy “Nature Boy” Rogers, the legendary pro wrestling superstar of the `50s, now retired in Florida. Rogers has recently undergone quadruple bypass heart surgery and a hip replacement operation. However… .

“Bobby,” he said to me the other evening, “I think it was him calling me `old man` that did it. He was a big dude-I`d say he was about 6 foot 4, 235 pounds-but nobody calls Buddy Rogers an old man.”

(In the interest of disclosing my prejudices here, I should point out that Buddy “Nature Boy” Rogers was one of my boyhood idols, and remains so to this day. I even went down to Florida to visit him last December. However, as we shall see, local reporters in south Florida confirmed the veracity of the series of events.)

Terhune-less than half Rogers` age-allegedly lunged at him.

“I shoved him against the wall,” Rogers said. “Then he grabs a metal chair. A big folding metal chair. He swings the chair and hits me in the mouth with it. I`m bleeding pretty bad. So I unload on him. The first thing I do is slug him in the solar plexus. He goes back against the refrigerator. I`m an `old man,` right?

’‘Then I give him another shot, and he goes flying into the kitchen and lands against a sink. I grab him again. He`s holding onto my hair and he`s screaming, `Please! Stop it! Please! Stop it!` The guy`s begging for mercy. By now he`s got me so tuned up, I`m ready to go some more.”

Terhune allegedly scampered out of the restaurant, at which point he was apprehended by police officers.

“Bobby, this guy, he`s all mouth,” Rogers told me. “This guy, he can`t go. I could have grabbed his arm and broke it if I`d wanted to.”

Rogers had gone into the restaurant to buy a turkey hoagie for his lunch. He had the sandwich in a bag, but was bleeding profusely. When he saw that the police had subdued Terhune, he left the store.

When the Ft. Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel got wind of the incident, the newspaper gave it Page One play. Lauderdale-By-the-Sea Police Chief Joe Fitzgerald admiringly told the paper, “Here he is, 68 years old and he just had a bypass operation and a hip operation, and he stands up to this guy.”

Gale Kappes, co-owner of the sandwich shop, said, “We thank Mr. Rogers. He really helped the girls out.” Restaurant employee Cynthia Marshall said,

“Buddy was definitely a gentleman come to our aid.”

It would turn out that Nature Boy Rogers would require 15 stitches in his mouth from where the chair hit him. But he did not go directly to the hospital.

“I went home and ate my sandwich,” he said. “My wife said that I was dripping blood all over the bread. But I ate that turkey hoagie before I went to the hospital for the stitches.”

Wouldn`t it have been easier to go to the hospital first?

“Bobby, I suppose it would have,” Nature Boy said. “But I was hungry.”
