So @jleeang77 and I tried to watch "The Last Temptation of Christ" together last night...and it did not go well. One of us had seen this film before, and got a lot out of it, while the other had never seen it. This newcomer to it did not care for the film in any way. You can try to guess which of us is which, if you care... But the main point, though, is that I almost never find it anything less than fascinating to ponder a messiah tale, whether that's the story of Jesus, or Frodo Baggins' tale, or the journey of Paul Atreides in "Dune," or the spiritual trajectory of any other figure who gets tapped to ascend and save others. Comparto mi lectura actual junto a un sabroso postre elaborado con higos y queso. El "dulce de higos" es tradicional en semana santa; aunque sus árboles dan frutos casi todo el año. Su sabor es perfecto y me traslada a la península Arábiga, concretamente a Judea y sus aldeas: Nazaret, Cana, Cafarnaum, Magdala y Jerusalem. Estoy disfrutando mucho la visión humana de la figura de Cristo que nos presenta Nikos Kazantzakis en su obra "La última tentación". El pueblo hebreo ansía la llegada de un Mesias libertador que conforte sus corazones, como lo prometen las antiguas escrituras. Los signos de Dios son inexplicables y Jesús, el hijo del carpintero, intentará resistir a su destino. El argumento de esta novela histórica nos presenta a los personajes clásicos de los evangelios de forma cercana, con sus miedos, limitaciones y esperanzas: Judas el pelirrojo, el rico Zebedeo y sus hijos, Pedro y los pobres pescadores, Mateo el publicado, Felipe el pastor, Magdalena la puta, María la madre, Barrabás el salvaje, entre otros. Es una propuesta interesante y arriesgada que estoy disfrutando bastante.
