Do you have any like thoughts on or headcannons for MCD Travis?

its funny cause i haven't really gotten around to him in any rewrite stuff yet except for like. AUs where he's a part of the guardboys(tm). so this may be brief but here's my rewrite thoughts so Far on travis.

i feel like most people like sticking with the canon of travis being socially awkward because of his isolation. like yeah. i'm a big fan. social cues are lost on him and his more confident/flirting behaviours are from copying books (even the most extreme or fantastical ones). unspoken social rules are the devil to him. this boy was born to yap his head off.

[clashes most with katelyn and garroth at first because of this BUT finds common ground with them later thanks to his studies.]

speaking of his studies hoo boy hello my freak scientist. let him learn! loves getting his hands dirty and doing experiments. no qualms about going to hold bugs and rolling around in the dirt to try and Figure Shit Out. he's a cartographer, in his spare time he's trying to fully map out gal'ruk. he loooves to read, just you wait until he gets his hands on actual up-to-date books and becomes kenmur and emmalyn's bestie. that's kind of where his common ground with katelyn and garroth comes from because they're all fascinated with history to a degree and Can like . sustain a convo with Just pure infodumping. but garroth's a bit of an academic snob sometimes vs travis is a bit of a freak scientist so.. clash...

in a similar vein god travis journals like a teenage girl trying to get her life back together. he notes down everything. he's interested in biology and geology in particular. he will draw and write about everything he sees, and later begins noting down a Lot of human behaviour to understand it better. even to an invasive degree, since he's incredibly perceptive. what he lacks in social cue knowledge he makes up for in pure Vibe Checks and straightforwardness. he will just say exactly what he's feeling.

emotionally he gets along best with laurance and aph, then later katelyn. also kenmur. he and garroth still have some shit to work through. he and laur start off trying to kill each other a little bit and then become besties. i still have to work on his demon mode but it will happen . hoenstly even though he would tire aaron out, they would probably have a mad good chat about divine grudges and demons. younger dante and travis would probably relate a lot to each other.

he's a little bit odd in the way of like . you know the trope where a character is like. isolated alone in the wilderness and is just. having conversations with animals. that's travis. he's just chatting casually with the island critters a lot , if only to have Some company. but he does genuinely also have a really good bond with the wildlife on gal'ruk. i imagine him with a snake companion.

carries knives and a polearm of some sort as his weapons. despite being like a good fighter and like a core of his life on gal'ruk is literally 'guarding' by technicality, he's not really that big on fighting. he's capable , but similar to aaron he would NEVER think of himself as a guard figure. they're more like . freelancing out of necessity.

i think those are like the Main things ive thought about but again like barely scratching the surface cause i haven't really got to him in rewrite yet. but i will one day. sorry i have a funny way of typing casually in a janky way that my brain would say it irl happy to explain anything further if it doesn't make sense. tee hee

I draw and write fanfiction most of the time, though you'll see me bounce between the two quite often because the ADHD beings demand my attention be split at all times

I am mainly a human artist but I've been dragged into cat hell, and thus, have also been learning to draw more feral and anthro characters as well!

it's weird to draw characters you've only really sketched or just seen in your head

not really satisfied with the face, considering adding freckles/antlers/more deer-like features cuz rn it's not really obvious

putting my opinion out there has someone who is more of a fan of the story than the gameplay

i think what people are mostly complaining about are three things

one. they changed the plot from the games, i see this a lot with "where is the collector", "where is the death of the plague" "why is the king alive". the thing is that the story of deadcells is seen through multiple playthroughs of the game, even after you finish the "main storyline" you can still go back and find out more stuff about it, something that would be more complicated to do in a tv show with only 10 episodes

two. the fact that the series doesnt take itself seriously, something about the main girl being literally called "Laure exposition" and how they crack many jokes at the expense of the characters. and to this i say, didnt deadcells do the same thing???? they cracked jokes and also didnt took some parts seriously, just because its putting more focus on the comedy doesnt mean that there isnt a deep story there

and finally three. the artstyle, most people are mad that the art style is more compact and looks more cartoony than the art on the trailes, this is the thing that bothers me the most since, do you KNOW how expensive is to animate in 2d and how COMPLICATED it is? im not saying that you HAVE to like the style but, come on, drawing bobby in the same style has the trailes for 10 entire episodes would be a pain in the ass

this is most of what ive seen while looking at others opinions, if i missed something let me know, but my main point is that just because the series is different from the games doesnt mean its bad, at least give it a try and watch it before you say its shit

So, I've been seeing the less-than-stellar reaction to Dead Cells Immortalis as a trailer, and I've seen the complaint of it 'ruining canon' and I'm curious. Dead Cells, by it's nature as a roguelike from the earlier days of the genre, has a very 'open-ended' canon. Not many things are explained or confirmed 100%. Unless I'm missing supplementary material, what sort of canon is there to ruin, so to speak? I'm not being accusatory, or at least not on purpose, but I'm just curious as to this argument. hey there Laurs!! aww, thank you very much 🥰💖 i love getting messages from people inspired by my fanworks, it makes my heart all fuzzy!! just a little endless cycle of good vibes and creativity :3c now, the bulk of your ask is a tough one to answer!! i know i've posted a lot of fanworks for Welcome Home, but at the end of the day, i'm just a fan like anyone else, trying to do my best to respect Clown's wishes. honestly, given the chance i would love to talk to them and ask these specific questions that a lot of fans have been firing in my direction. i have reached out, but understand those messages have likely been drowned under thousands of others!!

so @partycoffin, on the off-chance you're reading this: i hope you're doing well, and taking care of yourself in this terrifying, exciting time!! thank you for sharing your lovely world with us - we're all just so in love with your characters and universe 🥰💖 if you'd like to talk, please feel free to reach out. it would be great to know that you're okay, and i'd be happy to field any questions you have about your bustling new fandom (who have been destroying my own notifications for the past two weeks!!). it may be presumptuous of me, but perhaps having an inside look on what questions fans have might help make this explosive growth seem a little less scary. however, there's no obligation to reply - we're thankful all the same :3c

as far as i am aware at the time of writing this post, i don't think Clown has any problems with Wally x Anon/Reader/Y/N fanworks...or at least, i haven't come across any sources stating so.

the big thing that (if i'm understanding the guidelines correctly) is that Clown doesn't want us to be putting any NSFW Welcome Home material into the main tags. we have to remember that Welcome Home has blown up very quickly, and Clown deserves a chance to breathe and adjust to all this success before laying out those boundaries (if he wishes!). that's why, although i do write NSFW for other fandoms i'm refraining from doing so for Welcome Home until stated otherwise. i can't imagine how stressful it must be dealing with so many notifications, people impersonating, trying to sell their work, exhibiting invasive and creepy behaviour...on top of the overwhelming demand for new Welcome Home stuff. i think as fans we should just vibe and play in our own little bubbles without stressing them out too much, and adjust when we receive new information. for instance, i didn't know when i made my Wally Darling edit that they were uncomfortable with non-canon art being associated with the main game. i've since reached out to see if i should take the video down with no reply, and went with the consensus of a group of fans i asked for the opinions of - to leave it up until asked otherwise. pretty much - i don't think Wally Darling x Anon fanworks contravene the guidelines that Clown has given us so far. they aren't inherently NSFW, and i'd hope that anyone who is making NSFW fanworks is tagging appropriately, as is the courteous thing to do. i'm of the opinion that fans are going to do fandom things, and there's always going to be folks making adult-oriented works, and that's okay!! but i'm also always happy to respect the wishes of the creator in terms of how they'd like that work to be tagged and presented. i think Toby Fox did it best when he first suggested the 'Undertail' tag for NSFW works - a real stroke of genius that i see lots of fandoms still using today. again, do take this with a grain of salt! i don't know Clown, and very few of us do - we're just all interpreting his words in vastly different ways, and that must be terrifying to deal with; thousands of people getting very angry or very sad because they think they can or cannot do a specific thing they never actually said. it's not anyone's fault that Welcome Home blew up so suddenly and there wasn't time for precautions to be taken, but it is the fault of those fans who are overstepping boundaries and need to re-examine their relationship to this art. it sounds like you're good to go on making those animations, and i would personally love to see them 🥰 thanks again for being so sweet about my silly headcanons!! it's honestly been quite scary adjusting to the amount of attention, but please know i'm grateful and appreciative of every ask, reply and message that comes my way 💖

Joseph worries

From a letter M��néval wrote to Joseph, dated Paris, 8 Mai 1829 (and cited in »Mémoires et correspondance politique et militaire du roi Joseph«, Volume 10, edited by DuCasse), at a time when Charles X was still ruling France and Joseph living in exile in his US residence Point Breeze. Soult, as to him, was still mostly without a job, even if his peerage had been restored to him, split his time between Saint-Amans and Paris and busied himself writing his memoirs – which became known and apparently had caused some anxiety in far-away America:

Since I received your last letter, Monsieur le Comte, I have seen General Lamarque several times, whom I found in the best of spirits.

»Monsieur le Comte« would be Joseph, at the time going by the name of »Comte de Survilliers«.

He spoke to me of you with an affection that struck me as sincere. He indirectly knows the Memoirs of Marshal Soult; he is not happy with them. He has even refused the proposal made to him to edit them. He told me that it was because of the sourness which there was against some parts of your military acts in Spain.

Sourness? From Soult? I’m shocked.

He added that it was not necessary to attach more importance to them than they deserved, and that it was not appropriate for you to enter into an explanation or a polemic with him. Moreover Marshal Soult was in no hurry to have them published.

In fact, he never did, as he returned into administration in 1830 and would remain in politics almost until his death, which left him little time to continue with his writings.

M. de Norvins, about whom I will speak to you later, told me that he had read them, because the Marshal had also proposed to him to edit them. He found them so diffuse and so full of vanity that he expected neither honour nor profit. There is not a skirmish, nor an affair of five men and a corporal, whose account does not occupy several pages.

I’ve recently purchased them and from the first looks of it, I whole-heartedly agree with that assessment. Boring military stuff all over.

General Lamarque therefore thinks that you should not concern yourself with Marshal Soult; that you should write your memoirs with simplicity, and with the talent and loyalty which he recognises in you (he offers to support you with all his power in the Spectateur militaire, and in other papers); and that the public will judge that it is to this party that you should adhere, as to your Gospel.

I’m finding this rather fascinating, actually. I merely picked this random volume of Joseph’s correspondence to see what he had to say about Soult, and I keep finding several letters (unrelated to Soult), where people discussed actively how best to change the narrative (in favour of Joseph, of course). In particular Las Cases and the »Mémorial« - especially damning for Joseph as Las Cases was citing Napoleon directly. But Joseph also was in contact with Laure Junot. Lamarque above, by offering to »help« Joseph in certain newspapers (that he apparently was sure would publish what he wrote) was clearly drawing him into French party politics, trying to gathering all forces for the Bonapartist cause. And what he says about Soult’s memoirs is: »They are a rather difficult and boring read, they won’t be popular, so we do not have to bother with them.«
