ok, at 91 pages into Lungbarrow my review is: pretty good! a little slow to pick up and mildly confusing for those of us who have read approximately Zero of the rest of the VNAs and watched only Slightly more classic who. there’s a shocking amount of Gallifreyan Politicking in it, which i appreciate, but also again feels a little like i’m being thrown into the deep end.
i AM going to lose my mind abt the Godawful Formatting of EVERY ebook version that exists of this fucking book. I am going to edit my own damn copy just to make it Readable and then release it as an epub as well, just bc i’m cool like that (hopefully)
i’m excited to get to the Actual Murder Mystery bit. also curious to see how the two plotlines will tie into each other
i think my biggest Gripe is (spoilers) the fact we learn a few chapters in that Apparently the doctor (SPOILERS) murdered the kithriarch of Lungbarrow. which, like, if there isn’t a more OBVIOUS setup for a “well ACTUALLY it was THIS OTHER PERSON, ALL ALONG” reveal at the end, then i’ll eat my hat. i’m toying with the idea that he Did actually do the “murder” (not Actually a murder, btw, the guy is just in stasis, and he Was gonna die anyway, But Still) and even if he DID it’s like... i’ll put even odds on whether it was like On Purpose or if he was Compelled by some other force.
also waiting to learn (more spoilers!) what the fuck actually Happened To The House. like. damn, it really did just get Buried huh
oh and the Other part of my review is: it’s a good book but you don’t actually like... have to read it to get the Info from it that’s relevant to Current Fan Theories - if you know the “the Other, looming, genetic recurrence” bits you’re probably good

Vampire! Dami - It’s Bringing Me To My Knees
A/N: Hi guys, girls, and non-binary pearls! This fic is a part two to Love Bites, Love Bleeds. I’d recommend reading that fic because the events in this will make more sense if you’ve read LBLB. 💕
TW: Vampires, food
You sit on the porch outside of your house while waiting for Dami's car to pull up.
Every time you visit the library, Dami's there, and she always manages to remind you of the date.
"Are you ready for Saturday?" Dami asks as you scan the shelf for a specific book.
"How could I not be? I'm going on a date with a hot vampire." You tease as you grab the book you were waiting for.
Dami blushes slightly as she tucks a piece of hair behind her ear.
"I... I'm glad that you're excited. I'll see you at seven, okay?" Dami says as she places a hand on your back.
It's your turn to blush at her actions.
"I can't wait."
You managed to find a cute outfit that suited the weather. Dami told you to wear something that you could walk around outside in. She insisted on planning the whole date herself, and you were too nice to tell her not to.
After checking your phone for the time, you see a car pull into your driveway.
She's five minutes early, as per usual.
You pull yourself off of the ground before excitedly running over to her car. The door clicks open, and you open the passenger door to Dami's car.
You close the door behind you before getting settled in the seat.
"Wow, You look...." Dami trails off as you look to meet her eyes.
"Great?" You tilt your head at her.
"...Absolutely breathtaking." She smiles as her eyes scan your body.
"Ah, you're such a charmer! You say those things just to make me blush." You giggle as you blush.
Dami gently takes your hand in hers.
"I promise you, I'm completely serious." She gives your hand a squeeze before letting go.
You find yourself hanging onto her every word as she pulls away from you. You sigh in slight disappointment as the car begins to move.
~
After a short drive, Dami parks her car in the parking lot in front of your local park.
Why did she bring me here?
Dami takes off her seatbelt, and she gets out of the car. You follow her as you get out of the car yourself.
When you meet at the front of her car, Dami offers her hand to you. You gladly take it as she leads you to a nearby path.
"Where exactly are we going?" You ask as you look at the scenery around.
It's quite dark out, so you can't see anything more than the shapes of the leaves, trees, and flowers around you.
"You'll see soon." Dami shoots you a slightly mischievous smile as she continues to lead you through the park.
She's being mysterious... I like it.
Dami turns around a sharp corner, and you follow her every step until she stops.
You look up at the sight in front of you, and you gasp as you stare in wonder.
It’s... beautiful! How did she manage to pull this off?
A large wooden gazebo sits in front of you. It’s neatly decorated with strands of fairy lights hanging from the roof. A small table sits with two chairs on opposing sides, and a singular rosè balances in a vase in the middle of the table.
“Dami…” You walk forward, towards the gazebo.
“What do you think?” She softly asks as you place your hand on a strong wooden beam.
“It’s perfect.”
~
Dami can’t help but smile at you as you continue to eat the picnic foods she brought.
How did I end up on a date with Y/N? I must be one of the luckiest people alive.
Dami carefully takes your free hand and intertwines it with hers. She blushes slightly as you look up.
“Is everything alright?” You ask as you tilt your head towards her.
“I just wanted to hold your hand.” She mumbles as you smile at her before returning to eat.
If my heart was still beating, then their smile would make my heart race every time.
Dami can feel your strong pulse from your wrist. Usually, this would be enough to drive a vampire into blood-thirst, but Dami only felt a wave of protectiveness wash over her.
I’d never hurt Y/N, nor would I dream of doing so. I just want to keep them safe.
As you finish eating, Dami stands up while keeping your hands together.
“Let’s go for a walk. It’s a nice night.” Dami suggests, and you quickly stand up behind her.
“Let’s go, then!” You give her another warm smile before leaving the gazebo behind.
~
Dami’s hand somehow manages to travel from your hand to your waist. Neither of you are complaining, but you managed to lean towards Dami as you both walked through the park.
“Are you warm? Your face is all red…” Dami concerningly asks as you reach her car.
I hope Y/N hasn’t gotten ill while we were out…
“Ah, no. I…” You scratch your neck as the blush on your face worsens. “I’m just a little nervous around you.”
“Is this your first date?” She asks softly as her hand glides to your back.
Dami begins to rub your back in reassurance as you shyly lean closer to her.
“...In a while, yeah.” You admit softly. “I just wanted this date to go well because I really like you, Dami, and I want to pursue a relationship with you.”
Dami begins to blush as she processes your words.
They really see me as a potential lover? I never knew that they felt that strongly for me…
“You couldn’t do anything to drive me away, even if you tried your hardest.” Dami’s words soothe your anxieties.
“Thank you. I really needed to hear that.” You sigh in relief.
“Will another date or two help calm your nerves? I want you to feel comfortable around me.” Dami asks.
“Oh, so you’re trying to use my nerves to score another date? I see how it is~” You laugh as Dami quickly tries to backtrack.
“I didn’t mean it like that-”
You hold up a hand to stop her.
“I know, Dami. I was just joking. In all seriousness, I really want to go on another date with you. I had a lot of fun tonight.”
“Really? I’m glad.” Dami gives you a slight smile.
You lean in so you can press a gentle kiss to her cheek.
“Thank you for everything.” You mutter before breaking away from her.
Dami happily sighs as you climb into her car.
I’d happily do this over and over again if it meant that I got to be with you.
