The fatigue takes a bit to hit. He watched, partially amused, as this Iblis' Mephiles came zipping from where the other must have been at great distance to promptly investigate. His own wings give a languid flap to keep him in place as his eyes begin to lid.

The fatigue is slower to hit, not quite swamping him beneath its tide all at once. He gets the distinct sense he may already have mitigated that specific circumstance with how much more latent energy exists in this zone.

But once it does, he drifts down a bit akin to a wilting flower. Lowering back to his original spot and sinking down into an almost kneel before the pair as his frame sways in an almost unsteady manner.

He feels a flicker, his own tether to his own Iblis, a sort of probe of concern as happens each time he zone hops without consciously intending to do so. The aura of the other's Iblis is perfectly understood, and he gives a tired, rumbling chuckle.

"I mean your other half no harm. Though it's gratifying to see how quickly you responded." Innerste spoke, "I call myself Innerste." He introduces, "It seemed more fitting given the events attached to the other one. It means soul or spirit."

His head sagged slightly, and he blinked languidly.

"... Traversing like this is mm... draining. Even when not consciously intended."

His power had seemed especially sensitive lately, his subconscious hopping him to other zones at even the slightest train of stray thought toward something that gave any idea it might be needed or wanted. Almost as if as he tuned himself to the various timelines to help find a proper solution to his timeline's problems, his powers grew less tolerant or less able to ignore the more subtle cues regarding his own mind.

It was sometimes a bit difficult for the deity fragment to recognize areas of the timeline that were different from his own when they had too many similarities, but here, the prickling was present of Chaos Energy, and he'd initially dismissed it, since his body reacted the same way when he was getting close to a chaos drive or even more on the small shard of one of the emerald pieces. At least, until his tether tugged, buzzing in his mind as he looked up... and up... and up...until meeting the eyes of the much larger being looking right back down at him.

Iblis.

Or rather, this timeline's Iblis. He could tell, in a way that many may not immediately understand, but he could. This wasn't his Iblis. This wasn't his variant of his other half. This other half belonged to another Mephiles.

"...Hello there."

He rose upwards, spreading his form out and creating wings similar but different from Shadow's Doom Wings as he then flew up to be a bit more level with the gigantic, fiery being. While not feathery, the wings were a shade of silvery grey that almost seemed similar to the shape of phoenix feathers, as well as reminiscent in shape to Soleanna's crest that was stamped upon the coins that were used besides those golden rings as currency.

"I suppose you can tell that I'm not your Mephiles... right? Just like I can tell you are not the same Iblis as my own."

Concerning Satan

Several characters in “Hazbin Hotel” and “Helluva Boss” combine elements of multiple figures from Abrahamic mythology. For example: Lucifer has characteristics associated with the archangel Samael, specifically his relationship with Lilith.

I have a theory that Satan is, similarly, a composite of the biblical Satan, and a different mythological entity.

In Islamic theology; fallen angels do not exist, on account of angels lacking free will. Iblis, Islam’s counterpart to Christianity’s Satan; is not an angel, but an ifrit: a type of jinn.

In folklore, jinn are believed to be mortal beings; who, like humans, have the capacity to choose between good or evil. The ifrits, including Iblis, are said to have been made from fire; just as angels were formed from light, and humans from earth.

The story goes that Iblis was granted a place in Heaven among the angels (similar to Adam in “Hazbin Hotel”). After God created Adam and Eve; the angels, plus Iblis, were ordered to bow before them. lblis refused; feeling that, as a being made of fire, he was superior to beings made of earth. For this act of arrogance, Iblis was cast out of Heaven.

“Helluva Boss” Satan, like the mythical Iblis, is a fiery being who considers himself superior to all other living things.

The incident where Iblis refused to bow before Adam and Eve occurred before the first humans were cast out of Eden; making Satan’s claim that he “ruled the endless dark, since long before the golden angel’s fall” an exaggeration, but not a lie.

Speaking of Lucifer: Satan being Iblis would add another layer to his contempt for him, given Lucifer’s love for humanity. (On a related note: I doubt Satan is thrilled about having a human and a half-human as the queen and princess of Hell; especially if he was ordered to bow before Adam and Lilith, instead of Adam and Eve.)

Finally, being cast out of Heaven for one mistake; while the humans he hated, and all their descendants, kept getting second chances no matter how badly they sinned; would certainly explain why Satan is so wrathful.

If Satan is Iblis, that raises one final question: what happened to the other ifrits?

My theory, is that the imps ARE the ifrits: cast down into Hell along with their progenitor. When Satan claims he “created” the imps, what he truly means is that he is their ancestor; making his treatment of them even more hypocritical and cruel, and giving him yet another similarity to the despised First Man.

“Your hubris has gotten the better of you, Prince Stolas.”

Allah asked, “O Iblîs! What prevented you from prostrating to what I created with My Own Hands? Did you ˹just˺ become proud? Or have you always been arrogant?”

قَالَ أَنَا۠ خَيْرٌۭ مِّنْهُ ۖ خَلَقْتَنِى مِن نَّارٍۢ وَخَلَقْتَهُۥ مِن طِينٍۢ ٧٦

He replied, “I am better than he is: You created me from fire and him from clay.”

Satan appealed, “My Lord! Then delay my end until the Day of their resurrection.”

CONVERSATION BETWEEN YAHYA ALAYHIS-SALAAM AND IBLIS.

Thabit Al-BunanI said: 'It was reported to us that once lblis manifested himself before Prophet Yahya alayhis-salaam.' Observing that he had numerous ropes on him, Yahya inquired: "O lblis! What are these ropes that I see on you?"

He replied: "These ropes are the various lusts with which I strike on the children of Adam." Yahya asked: 'Does there exist a rope for me too?' Satan said: 'Yes.'

When you satiate yourself with food, you experience weightiness and it is for this reason you become disinclined to perform prayers, remembrance and supplications.

Hearing this, Yahya vowed: By Allah! Never shall I eat to my fill, ever again. Iblis responded by pledging: And by Allah, never shall I give advice to a Muslim, ever again.'
