SPOILERS FOR THE GREAT GATSBY AHEAD. BEWARE!

So... I read The Great Gatsby and I regret doing so. I think people who have not had to deal with the harsh cut of deaths synth don’t understand it as much. I have written letters to my grandparents who have passed and looked on the past; at what I could have done better. I have felt love, loss, and betrayal. I have seen funerals with very little people and with people whom passed too soon. I have felt the need to lie to protect others and wished for a life and future I connot have. I have felt hopeless and like someone was ripped from my life. I have wanted to hurt what hurt them. In my case I could not since it was cancer. I could see the worst parts of myself in the characters so in that sense it was amazing but it left me hopeless and hurt. I got depressed after. I do not mean the “Oh my gosh! That movie is so depressing!” Type of depressed I mean it triggered my PTSD from death and made me stay in bed for two days. I have not been that depressed since I was hurt by someone I loved. My school had me read this and reread it to write a report on it. My school knows I have clinical depression. I would have loved just a warning saying “Hey this has some sensitive topics just be warned!” Then I could have braced myself. I was sobbing and shaking uncontrollably. My therapy dog (in training) had to help me from accidentally scratching my skin (a thing I do when I’m triggered).

Overall I give this book a 2/10 purely because of my emotional “issues”. My school should have warned us.
