I have set new record for how many times walking!! 6 times!! I do it today AND yesterday 🙌🏻
We have open-plan downstairs, so from front window to back door of house, it is possible to walk through all the way.
When I do walking, I go all the way from front to back of house. Mum or Dad stand near back door and count a new number every time I go to them and do high five! So, one "lap" is actually two times of walk length of house!
I get better at tolerate the braces I think, even though it is still sore pressure in a few spots. (Especially left foot outside heel).
I also walk faster I think, and better rhythm of moving. Left leg always very tired afterwards!! (Because left side is weak side).
I am proud, I try so hard 😄

I wish some people would just say physically disabled instead of crippled on here. I'm not asking for everyone to abandon the word, I don't want them to, I just want one part of my life that doesn't call me a cripple constantly. I spend all day at school being called a cripple by friends and peers and bullies and I try and come on here for support from other physically disabled people and it's all cripple, cripple, cripple. Please goddammit can one physically disabled person make one, literally all I'm asking for is one, encouraging post for physically disabled people that doesn't say cripple. I hate being called that word. Please, just please, one post isn't asking for much, is it? I just want one person to say something nice about my physical disabilities without calling me a slur. And I know people are going to get angry because I shouldn't police peoples language and those posts aren't made for me specifically, but I'm beyond giving a fuck. I am quite literally begging. I just need one post or reblog or comment to look at sometimes when I feel horrible and can't escape the word cripple fucking anywhere. Please. I already have a billion medical tests and my insurance won't cover an MRI so I can't be diagnosed with one of my physical disabilities, another doesn't have a name so no one takes it seriously, and my doctors refuse to try to look into anything else, not to mention my eyes or non-physical disabilities, I just need one bit of positivity. I'm quite literally lying on my bed, sobbing from pain, unable to breath(for unrelated reasons to the sobbing), with a kidney infection my doctor said I definitely didn't have a week ago, trying to figure out how the fuck I'm going to be able to go to school tomorrow, let alone finishing the year(which just began), let alone finishing high school, let alone going to college. So maybe I sound whiny or something, but, again, I'm incapable of giving a fuck. Please, goddammit, please, I'm fifteen fucking years old, all I need is to be told my strabismus makes my eyes look pretty or that blue is a pretty color for a cane or that my physical inability to sit or stand up straight doesn't make me look lazy. That it's cool my cane and brace and glasses are the same color, that my rhotacism which even after five years of forced speech therapy is starting to return doesn't make me sound like a toddler, that my slowly increasing urinary incontinence that will probably lead to diapers if I can ever afford them(which my kidney infection is only making worse in ways that may be permanent) isn't anything to be ashamed of. I will even take: it's not your fault wearing an eye patch for a year at 5 didn't fix your eyes. I will take literally anything, I just want to know at least one fucking person on this planet actually thinks anything is good about my body and is willing to say it, just once, without using a slur.

are there any orthotists in this corner of the internet? If yes and you're willing I'd love to ask you a few questions relating to a character I'm working on.
He got injured and will need mobility aids. I've already looked into various orthotics myself but it seems quite a few could work and I'm lacking the knowledge to know for certain which would be his best choice.
Help would be appreciated :)

Appointment was fine, Mum says I did well and get gold star 😁.
New doctor was nice (and also loud, lucky for noise cancelling headphones!), he was efficient and it was a fast appointment.
No big problem I think. I didn't really know what is going on, I just follow instructions to move certain position so he can examine me. And coped well with the touching.
I didn't really process what he said, but it doesn't seem bad. Luckily the discomfort I had with it seems to calm down a bit now, so less upset about it. (Not want to explain details for this one, it is just random small thing mostly unrelated to any other health/disability stuff).
I am tired now but I coped well and I am not back in crash again I think! So that is good, lucky for appointment so quick and small wait time. I rest in bed now.
I got chocolate 😄 (Ask Dad for it and he make a joke about who gets the chocolate. He always jokes about eating my chocolate or sweets every time I get some, even mimes stealing it 😂 makes me laugh!).
I did walking the whole time (obviously sit down breaks in between for in car and waiting room and chair in appointment room, but walked between, hold Mum's hand 😊). I am proud.
Even if walking hurts knees a lot because bad joint alignment because can't wear AFOs because pressure-pain. But appointment on Wednesday is for orthotics so we will see what they say. Don't know if they can really do anything to help or give me what I need for my AFOs... I have doubt about that. (Especially because this is already second pair I have from them and still not able tolerate). But wait and see. 🤷🏻‍♂️

After a couple hours in my Aspen therapy collar, I switched to one of my soft collars and spent the rest of my afternoon lounging and listening to some vinyl records. It was a challenge to get up and down for every record and side change, but I absolutely enjoyed it. Definitely thinking I need to get some forearm crutches to use while I have my legs all braced up!

"Weaponize your mobility aid"
First of all: why am I responsible for keeping people from murdering me?! Second of all, what land are you living in where you can bring open weapons in schools and stores and literally any public place?! And third of all, considering I'm DISABLED all that's going to do is hurt ME.
I swear the second a physically disabled person can't weaponize their stuff for whatever reason, can't sow patches or make their own clothes because of disabilities, have to use brightly colored things for safety or to be able to see it, or is really anyone other than a mostly able-bodied person who just needs a cane to walk around half the cripple punk community wants to crucify them. Stop getting mad at me for not engaging in the physically disabled community, when your rules to join are impossible because of my physical disabilities.

Hi, I was wondering about something I've seen, not sure if I saw this in real life or fiction.
When someone was a mobility disability, they use a cane but there are supports on the person's legs. What are those supports called? And when are those used? How does a person walk with those? Would these supports be used for someone with a temporary mobility disability or longterm?
Hi! I think what you’re describing are leg braces, which can be used for a variety of reasons, with or without other mobility aids. Generally speaking, they help with stability and with [word for keeping loose body parts tight]. I sometimes use knee braces to keep my kneecaps from moving out of place when I’m doing intense activity, someone else might use them daily to add strength/stability to weakness in their ankles and feet, and someone else might wear a single knee brace following an injury or surgery, similar to a cast for a broken bone-- there’s a ton of variability both in the type of aid and the reason someone might use them. Additionally, this might be the only aid/support someone uses, or they might use it in addition to something else, such as a cane, like you mentioned.
