Question re your ABO universe. If an alpha fathers a child with an omega, and they’re not married, who gets presumptive custody? Like if they split and things turn nasty, who takes who to court? I imagine that if the alpha doesn’t care at all (like Phoebe with Helen) it’s not much of an issue, but if the alpha does want to stay involved, are there laws that protect the omegas since they’re the ones actually giving birth?

Originally the courts would (more often than not) look at whoever the Alpha is for primary custody rights

Those protections didn’t come in until much later. Look at poor Eliza Sheffield for instance.

Leia Sheffield had more protection from a mix of changing laws, her family’s money and status and Sheffield’s own heavily damaged reputation by that point

Does Anthony ever dress up as Westley in the Princess Bride?

Oh of COURSE he does.

He was just waiting for the opportunity to grow a sweet little moustache and become teenage Kate Sheffield’s wildest fantasy.

And Thankfully, Colin decided to have a Halloween party

It was really hard for Anthony to deny how stupid he felt, standing in front of the mirror in his bathroom, in his billowing black shirt, his pants tight his eyes covered. He sighed as he slid his gloves in place, straightening his belt as he stepped out of the bathroom.

Anthony had filed away Kate’s comments about the Princess Bride in the little vault where he kept information about her, hoarding facts he was desperate to know about her like an angry dragon hoarding his gold, so when Colin had announced his Halloween party just months later Anthony had sprung into action.

“I’ll get the costumes!” He said quickly to Kate who had stilled a little surprised.

“If you dress me as Slave Princess Leia I promise you, You’re leaving single.” She’d said kissing his cheek. “I am not wearing a metal bikini in front of your family, I don’t care how much you like it.”

“It’s not going to be slave Leia. But just… out of curiosity. Would you ahhhh be amenable to wearing Leia from empire strikes back sometime?” His heart pounding just a little at the thought, even more so when Kate leaned towards him, a smirk on her face, her lips brushing over his ear.

“Well you’d have to be a very good scruffy looking nerf herder for that.”

And of course she’d noticed for the last few days that his usual scruff was thickening to a short beard which he thought would be less suspicious that the sudden moustache.

“I’m just trying something new, do you hate it?” He’d said when she’d asked. And Kate had surprised him by growling in his ear.

“It’s really, really hot.”

But now he’d shaved it to a thin moustache, donned his costume, had Kate’s hanging in the bathroom behind him, and stepped out into the bedroom.

As soon as she saw him, Kate let out a strangled gasp, her hands covering her mouth her eyes wide. Silence echoing between them as nerves fluttered in his stomach.

“Can you please tell me this doesn’t look as stupid as I think it does?” Anthony said, his arms held aloft awkwardly, and still Kate said nothing, perched on his bed, frozen.

“Okay, I’m taking it off.” He said, turning back towards the bathroom.

“Don’t you fucking dare!” Kate’s hands reached for him suddenly, tugging him back towards her, her lips claiming his. Her eyes were dark when she pulled back. “This was… visually a lot for me, I just needed a moment to die a little. You better have a Buttercup costume in there for me.” She said, taking one last look at him as she swept into the bathroom leaving him feeling more than a little smug.

He felt even more smug when they arrived at Colin’s, dressed in their costumes, and Edwina Sheffield’s mouth dropped open.

“You are fucking kidding me!” She squealed sprinting towards them. “How did you convince him to wear it?!”

“Oh I have Anthony well trained. Also it was his idea. I think he’s been a very good boy.”

cis  male  /  he/him.  ┊  if  you’re  looking  for  PETER  PETTIGREW,  you’ll  probably  find  HIM  in  the  GRYFFINDOR  dorm  with  the  rest  of  the  SEVENTH  years.  they’re  the  TWENTY  year  old  HALFBLOOD  who  looks  kind  of  like  ROBIN  MIGNÉ.  they  seem  FACETIOUS,  INTUITIVE,  CARING  to  me,  but  apparently  they’re  also  FOOLHARDY,  SELF-DOUBTING,  COVETOUS.  maybe  that’s  why  they  remind  me  of  laughter  breaking  the  stillness  of  a  suburban  summer  night,  coughing  on  whiskey  and  cigarettes,  running  a  restless  hand  through  messy  blond  hair,  the  soft  ticking  of  a  grandfather  clock,  bruised  knuckles  stuffed  in  the  pockets  of  scuffed  jeans.  the  golden  rays  of  the  late  afternoon  sun.  the  scent  of  mothballs,  the  slightly  metallic  taste  of  tap  water.  quick  glances  seeking  approval,  a  cheeky  grin  once  it’s  been  earned.  dog  eared  comic  books  in  a  cardboard  box  under  your  bed,  feet  dangling  over  the  edge  of  the  roof,  staring  down  the  stars,  wanting  to  be  a  hero  but  not  quite  knowing  how.

peter  pettigrew.  born  in  sheffield,  england  to  a  muggle  father  and  a  magical  mother.  he  lived  in  a  small  brick  house  with  old  fashioned  furniture.  his  family  has  always  been  catholic,  and  so  every  sunday,  he  dressed  up  in  his  nicest  hand-me-downs  and  went  to  church  with  his  parents  and  younger  sister.  

the  pettigrews  are  what  you’d  call  a  working-class  family.  money  has  always  been  tight  with  them.  it  wasn’t  uncommon  for  his  father  to  be  working  holidays,  or  to  overhear  a  whispered  conversation  between  his  parents  using  words  like  mortgage  and  foreclosure.  their  clothes  were  always  just  on  the  edge  of  shabby  no  matter  how  often  his  mother  darned  and  ironed  them.

perhaps  because  of  this,  or  perhaps  because  he  was  a  wizard,  he  didn’t  really  click  with  the  muggle  kids  in  his  neighbourhood.  he  was  more  a  mama’s  boy,  helping  his  mother  dust  and  vacuum  and  fold  the  laundry  and  set  the  table  for  supper  every  day.  his  parents  were  worried  that  he  wasn’t  a  very  social  child,  and  that  he  wouldn’t  make  many  friends  at  hogwarts.  they  even  considered  holding  him  back  a  year,  but  ultimately  decided  against  it.

but lo and behold, when he went to hogwarts he made friends! remus, sirius and james to be specific. and it was gr8 and they brought out this whole other side of him that he’d never shown before

this  mischievous,  snarky  boy  who’ll  yes  ma’am  and  no ma’am  your  mum  to  her  face  but  just  as  soon  make  a  your mom  joke  when  she’s  out  of  earshot.  his  smile  is  either  shy  and  endearing  or  the  cheekiest  lil  shit-eating  grin  you’ve  ever  seen.  he’ll  laugh  at  the  worst  of  jokes.  fluent  in  sarcasm.  he’s  great  at  seeming  more  innocent  than  he  is  (  a  power  that  is  used  and  abused  during  prank-pulling  ).  and  yeah,  he’s  an  enabler  –  his  friends  do  stupid  stuff  and  he  doesn’t  stop  them.  but  so  what  ?  he’s  a  twenty  year  old  boy.

his  room  is  surprisingly  neat.  would  never  admit  it  but  he  kind  of  likes  cheesy  cliches  (  he’s  watched  gone  with  the  wind  with  his  mum  enough  times  he  can  quote  it  off  by  heart  ).  he  wants  to  be  a  dashing  hero  like  in  the  dog  eared  comic  books  he  still  has  in  a  box  under  his  bed.  wants  to  sweep  a  girl  off  her  feet.  wants  to  be  something  more  than  the  sidekick,  at  least  once.  

peter  loves  the  1977  star  wars  movie  and  is  very  excited  for  the  sequel  coming  out  later  this  year  !  he’s  rooting  for  luke  and  leia  (((:  sure  hope  nothing  in  the  future  movies  will  ruin  that  ship  !  (  yes,  this  is  his  villain  origin  story  )

sometimes  he’s  trying  just  a  bit  too  hard  to  impress  other  people  because  he  cares  a  lot  more  about  what  other  people  think  of  him  than  he  likes  to  let  on.  slightly  self  conscious  because  he  had  a  growth  spurt  over  the  summer  –  he  used  to  be  really  short  but  now  he’s  all  long  limbs  and  stupid  grins  and  dimples  and  tousled  blond  hair  and  he’s  grown  quite  attractive  but  doesn’t  realize  it,  thank god.  and  hey  –  that’s  just  part  of  his  charm.  because  he  is  charming.  he  just  doesn’t  realise  it,  compared  to  james  and  sirius.

he  compares  himself  to  james  and  sirius  a  lot.  peter  has  always  been  prone  to  insecure  thoughts  and  nervous  tics  –  during  exam  season  his  nails  are  always  bitten  down  to  stubs  and  his  skin  breaks  out.  and  in  the  times  he’s  feeling  particularly  unhappy  with  himself  he  looks  to  his  friends.  and  this  can  go  either  one  of  two  ways  –  either  they  make  him  better  and  build  him  up  (  and  really  he  should  be  able  to  do  that  himself  but  he’s  always  been  dependent  on  other  people.  always.  first  his  parents,  then  the  marauders.  )  or  he’s  feeling  insecure  and  he  looks  to  his  friends  and  sees  how  much  better  they  are  than  him.  how  unattainable  their  status  is.  and  he  feels  like  a  useless  burden,  dragging  them  down.  those  are  his  bad  days.  but  they’re  relatively  infrequent  –  at  least  for  now.

he  has  ways  to  dispel  these  thoughts.  for  one,  he  drinks.  not  the  best  coping  mechanism,  granted,  but  whiskey  burns  his  throat  and  the  inside  of  his  chest  like  the  fire  he  always  wished  he  had  burning  inside  of  him,  and  it  makes  him  feel  stronger  and  it  makes  him  feel  braver  and  his  friends  are  drinking  with  him  and  soon  they’re  all  laughing  and  doing  stupid  shit  together  and  then  the  alcohol  washes  away  any  doubts  peter  has.  and  it’s  good.

and  sometimes  he  gets  into  fist  fights.  he’s  gotten  better  at  it  over  the  years,  ever  since  sirius  taught  him  that  your  thumb  isn’t  supposed  to  go  inside  your  fist.  he  feels  strong  when  he  fights;  he  feels  a  reckless  sort  of  freedom  that’s  as  close  to  confidence  as  he’ll  ever  get.  and  sometimes  he  picks  fights  he  knows  he  can’t  win,  but  hey,  that’s  part  of  the  thrill,  right  ?  because  he  also  knows  that  his  friends  can  bail  him  out,  and  he  also  knows  that  the  black  eye  he’s  going  to  have  in  the  morning  will  make  him  look  tougher,  and  people  will  fuss  over  him  and  ask  questions.  and  it’s  good.

if  you  asked  peter  what  the  most  important  thing  in  the  world  is  to  him,  he  would  say  his  friends.  and  he  would  say  his  family.  not  once  would  it  ever  occur  to  him  to  say  himself,  or  his  own  health  or  happiness.

he  puts  a  lot  of  value  on  interpersonal  relationships.  and  sometimes,  that’s  a  good  thing  because  he  values  those  relationships  and  cherishes  them,  and  he’s  a  wonderful  friend  and  very  intuitive.  he  can  always  tell  if  someone’s  upset,  and  he’s  a  great  listener.  but  also  sometimes  it’s  a  bad  thing  how  much  value  he  puts  on  those  relationships.  because  he  builds  his  own  personal  value  off  of  them,  and  off  how  much  people  like  him  and  support  him.  like  i  said  –  he’s  always  been  dependent.  he  doesn’t  know  any  way  else  to  be.

and  deep  down,  peter  is  an  optimist.  it’s  his  fatal  flaw.  how  ?  because  no  matter  how  badly  things  are  going,  he  thinks  to  himself  that  it’ll  all  turn  out  fine,  in  the  end.  something  will  happen,  in  the  end.  someone  will  save  him,  in  the  end.  for  instance  –  he  has  no  idea  what  he  wants  to  do  after  hogwarts.  and  sometimes  that  worries  him,  but  most  of  the  time  he  pushes  it  to  the  back  of  his  mind.  he  can  think  about  that  later.  because  in  the  end,  it’ll  turn  out fine.  because  it  always  does  for  the  good  guys.  right  ?

idk  what  else  to  say  man  …  i  love  peter  but  sometimes  he  makes  me  sad.  this  quote  from  buffy  always  reminds  me  of  him

Phoebe Halliwell, Charmed - Even though I love all of the sisters and I am probably more like Piper, Phoebe was my favorite.  She is beautiful, sexy, and funny.  Phoebe has some of my favorite powers, premonition and empathy.  Levitation is pretty cool, too.  Phoebe is a style queen!  I love nearly all of her hair styles and clothes.  She has also had the most romances on the show.  Phoebe has grown so much in the show’s eight years.  And she is played by the ever awesome Alyssa Milano, a favorite actress since my childhood.

Leia Organa (Solo), Star Wars - One of my favorite characters since I was a little girl and one of the first main female scifi characters.  Leia was smart, strong, and sarcastic.  She cares about doing the right thing, despite the danger and cost.  Leia is a princess, a senator, a rebel/freedom fighter, and a mother.  I grew up reading the books and some comics of the Expanded Universe, now termed “Legends”.  The Leia I grew up with married Han, was a mother to three amazing and powerful children, went on to become the Chief of State of the New Republic (twice, I believe), became a Jedi, and just kept fighting for the safety and good of the people and the galaxy.  The new canon still has Leia as an inspiring figure as a general in the Resistance.  I also loved Leia’s various hairstyles and clothes in the films and on book covers.

Kimberly Hart, Power Rangers - Kim was one of my first female superheroes.  As the first Pink Power Ranger, she was very feminine and still could kick villain ass.  Kimberly could do almost anything: gymnast, Power Ranger, cheerleader, environmental activist, volunteer.  She could even sing and play the guitar.  I always thought that Kimberly was incredible beautiful and kind.  I loved her romance with Tommy and never forgave Power Rangers Zeo (or Kat) for breaking them up.  I even love her when she is briefly turned evil in the Turbo movie.

Martha Jones, Doctor Who - Martha is one of my favorite companions of the Doctor.  She is one of the few women of color on the show and to be a regular companion to the Doctor.  I love that she is a doctor in her own right.  Her family is important to her.  I hate how the Doctor didn’t see how awesome she was until too late because he was so hung up on Rose.  I didn’t mind her crush on the Doctor, because why wouldn’t you fall for him?  Martha grew a lot over the course of the show.  She was jealous of Rose in the beginning, but when she finally met her, she was so happy that Rose and the Doctor found each other.  I love how Martha made the decision to leave the TARDIS on her own terms.

Daenerys Targaryen, A Song of Ice and Fire/Game of Thrones - Dany is compassionate and strong.  She has gone through so much in her young life and keeps fighting.  She cares about the people, particularly women and children.  She tried to get the Dothraki to stop raping the women of the people that they conquered and pillaged.  Daenerys abolished slavery in Meereen.  She has a personality that inspires respect, love and loyalty, as seen with the Unsullied, Missandei, Jorah, and now Jon on the show.  I love the storied history of House Targaryen, despite some of its darker moments and rulers.  I love the dragons and how she brought them and magic back to the world.  Daenerys shares qualities with her ancestors, such as Aegon I and his sister-wives, Jaehaerys I & Alysanne, and Aegon V.  I also love the parallels with Jon and their love story.

Fran Fine Sheffield, The Nanny - The Nanny was one of my favorite shows when I was growing up.  Fran was a style icon.  I always wanted to dress like her.  And even though my hair is dark and curly, I wish I could pull off some of her hairstyles.  But maybe not as big.  She is gorgeous and funny.  Fran is from a working class/working poor family, so she is easily relatable.  I love her relationships with love interest/boss Maxwell Sheffield, his kids, Niles, her own family, and Val.  Fran teaches the kids great lessons in unconventional ways.  She may not be book-smart, but she is street-smart.  Fran is such a warm and compassionate person.

Hermione Granger, Harry Potter - I relate to Hermione because she loves to read, is intelligent, and her friends are very important to her.  Hermione will also fight for who and what she believes in.  She can be a bit narrow-minded at times, but she does learn from her mistakes.

Usagi Tsukino/Serena Tsukino, Sailor Moon - I was a little girl when I first saw the English dub of Sailor Moon, which I loved.  She was one of my first female superheroes.  I love how much her friends mean to her and that she would do anything to save and protect them.  I loved the love story between her and Mamoru/Darien.  I love how she has a big appetite.  I also loved the clothes she wore.  Sailor Moon was my introduction to anime.

Dr. Robin Scorpio-Drake, General Hospital - Robin is a strong and compassionate person.  She has a strong moral compass, which she usually follows.  Robin has overcome many struggles in her life (”death” of her parents, HIV+ diagnosis and living with the disease, Stone’s death via AIDS, romances, being a hostage, postpartum depression, Lisa, etc.) and has come through them with grace.  I love all of her romances and how they are each an important chapter in her life, even though Patrick is my favorite.  Robin is a great friend to have, a dedicated doctor, and probably one of the most stable mothers on the soap.  Her story provides an education on HIV/AIDS.

Bianca Montgomery, All My Children - Much like Robin, Bianca is a strong and compassionate character that has seen many struggles.  She is the heart of her family, which includes her mother, daytime legend Erica Kane and her half-sister Kendall, but that doesn’t mean she is a pushover.  Bianca is an iconic character, in that she is the first lesbian lead on a daytime soap opera.  I have loved watching her romances with Maggie, Zoe, Reese, and to a lesser extent, Marissa.  Her baby swap story was one of the first soap opera stories to real hook me and get me hooked on two soaps at one time.
