Sorry about that. I honestly don't really know how lenses work that well, at least beyond the basics of refraction and some possibly unreliable memories of using magnifying glasses, and considering what you said you almost certainly are right. But I do have a question considering that: Why would the post have moved closer to the middle in a lens that makes the thing on the other side look larger (even when in motion)? Because if you take an image in a circle, and then increase the circles radius, everything moves further away from the middle of the circle, and outside of the lens all of the post is to the right of the center so I would intuitively expect it to move further right. I'm not sure why this wouldn't apply to lenses if the lens wasn't tilted in any way, and I'm hoping you could provide some clarification on that point.
Hi, no worries! So I'm not 100% I'm understanding what you're asking, but I'll try to clarify my meaning.
If the lense were completely stationary - for example, say it was a camera lens, and a photo was taken on a tripod with no movement - then the displacement of the image would not occur as it is shown in my icon, and instead would probably only show some barrel distortion, like so:
However, the effect shown in my icon can occur with handheld lenses such as a magnifying glass, as the lens is not held perfectly steady. You can see this effect happening when a lens is held in front of a video camera. Here is an example.
So with the lens moving (even perhaps only slightly, considering magnifying glass have a relatively high powered lens), the image appears to move in the opposite direction of the lens. If the lens is moving to the right, then the effect would be as shown in my pfp. If the lens is moved in the other direction, the image would move to the right instead.
I hope that clears up any confusion. If not, feel free to message me directly :)

@codywanfirstkissbingo: kissing through smiles
They had to share a bed. Yes, it was integral to the mission. A new species of octopus was discovered and his name is Obi-Wan. Cody sweat his ass off with the cuddle monster bodily attached to him and subsequently knocked their pillows and duvet off the bed in his sleep. Regardless, they slept well and are having an even better morning. Good for them :3
bingo card under the cut (bingo!!!!!!! I got a bingo!!!!)
This is my last artwork as I was only going for one bingo (and simply posted on this schedule to drag out my posts haha)!

something i found super interesting and never thought about until recently is that people who paint realism now are inputting camera lens artifacts into the paintings and you can clock work made recently (within the last 100 years) off photographic reference because of it. Essentially having a clear way to date a piece by if it has focal length lens distortion or not.
