Jon Matteson does not get enough credit for his physical acting skills. In the "Nerdy Prudes Must Die" number when he "levitates" and then crashes to the ground? And in "Let It Out"? He fucking SELLS the emotional impact of those scenes and I'm tired of pretending that he is not one of the best things to happen to modern Starkid. Mariah and Angela definitely deserve their due, but my man is KILLING IT OUT HERE

I am Thinking About The Implications regarding Ted’s love interests

With Jenny, they were best friends, there was genuine affection and mutual feelings for each other but neither of them acted on it because they both assumed they didn’t have a chance, and then it was too late

With Charlotte, Ted was in love with her but she didn’t reciprocate, he was just one of the men she was having an affair with behind her husband’s back. He never lets himself be too vulnerable and open with her about his feelings, resorting to either yelling at her or just deflecting whenever she starts to talk about Sam. He’ll just take whatever he can get with her

With Lucy, he can actually express his feelings and be affectionate, but only because he’s playing the role of Konk. He has something to hide behind instead of being truly vulnerable. Even when he’s only talking to Hidgens, at least later in the episode, he stays in character, he falls into Konk’s speech patterns because he’d rather be him, in part because Lucy likes Konk. He even asks that she let him die as Konk just so he can feel loved by her

And then, before he’s approached by Sheila, we learn he does actually want to someday start a family, get married and have kids

After the misunderstanding with Jenny, Ted no longer feels he can be open and vulnerable about his feelings, puts up this front of only being interested in sex when he really does want a relationship beyond that, and only feels safe expressing himself truthfully to others when he’s someone else

Ted please for the love of god learn how to express your feelings in a healthy way I am begging you

I love Paul and Emma so much, literally giving me life during midterms right now. Augh School is very stressful, I wish I could draw more. This painting was supposed to be short, but it ended up taking longer than I expected ;0;

This is one of my favorite songs from TGWDLM, and I love drawing dualities like this!

I added the "blue shit" coming out of his nose, almost like a nose bleed on both sides, and from his mouth on the "musical possession" side, since he was coughing after the song.

"Emma, I'm sorry, you lost... Emma, I'm sorry you lost your way" are still the rawest opening lines to a finale in all of musical theatre, change my mind.

The gut punch of Paul singing right after the fake-out that he survived. The realization that it was all for nothing and the entire world, including Emma, is doomed at his hands. THE WAY THE MEANING OF WHAT HE'S SAYING COMPLETELY CHANGES WHEN HE FINISHES THE THOUGHT.

I know Paul's been Apotheosised for quite a while by that time, but it almost feels like the first few words are what remains of the actual Paul communicating his final thoughts to Emma, his sorrow that he failed her. And then he's gone for as good Apotheosis Paul takes the reigns and sets out, ever so inevitably, to get what he wants and save Emma Perkins.

just Knowing from the opening instrumentals that Paul is fucked

Paul being utterly alone and trapped in a building full of deadly musical zombies that want nothing more than to turn him

not being sure if he's gagging from unwanted people touching him, or from blue shit forming in his gullet

Paul reaching out to Bill after he touches Paul's face

Ted also stroking Paul's face. we love some villainous intimacy

Bill is also villainous here bc they're all infected but Paul LIKES Bill

"and I know it's a singular voice, Paul/you've just got to give up your choice!" ESPECIALLY after finding out in nightmare time that Pokey is "the singular voice"

the reveal that Paul has been breathing in spores from the meteor this entire time
