The application seeks permission to sell alcohol to drink on the premises from 5pm to 11pm every day of the week.

I'm sincerely very happy for anyone who is enjoying the show but every time I see takes that the show has improved the book characterizations or that the book characters are underdeveloped in comparison to the show...
#our experiences are very different lmao#pjo show crit#sure the show isn't completely out yet#but id argue that the characters (namely the trio) seem way more developed and well-rounded in the book by this point in time (episode 4)#and look im not saying every change the show has made is bad#but by and far there has yet to be a change to characterization that feels like an IMPROVEMENT from the source material lmao#the closest contender I'd say is show Percy does seem a tad angrier than book Percy#but again I wouldn't call that an improvement... its just different and I think that /change/ works because it feels like the same essence#but even that has had some issues because I feel like the show has inadvertently cut down some of Percy's canon book empathy here and there#I think the show has nailed Annabeth's pride and intelligence and her warped worship of her mother#... but they've also made her hyper competent to the point that she's not making half of the mistakes she did in the book#which ISNT good because book annabeth is smart but she isn't infallible#its a big point that she has the theoretical intelligence but none of the real world experience/application#she gets tricked by medusa and goes to visit the Arch just cause she loves architecture and that's okay!! she's twelve and a nerd!#I also dont like that they've cut/toned down her little crush on Luke#actually they've not even showcased the familial bond between annabeth and Luke either in the show so like lmao#and then grover#by now grover's fear of failure and repeating this past mistakes and wanting a license has already been acknowledged in the books at least#in the show?? not so much#and his canon book suspicions and wariness of medusa... were given to annabeth#like medusa in the book was Grover's moment to shine cause his instincts were right!#and in the book fight he even very intentionally attacked medusa#but his highlights there were cut completely in the show#and finally sally#...idk who that is in the show but that's NOT my sally jackson#percy jackson#mine

every day i struggle to make choices
#i should invest into some kind of education but cant make up my mind#mostly because options suck#i cant do trades unless my body sucks less which is sad because id love to be an electrician#cant even think about getting a pilots license cuz im not passing the med cert#i think id rather die than be a med assistant actually#working clinics at all makes me nervous tbh but probably where im headed in the short term#surgical tech would be cool but i cant do a Real program while working full-time#which is what limits most of my choices#i need to find more paid training programs i guess#if i had to pick a miserable but fulfilling job id go into education itself#but the teaching profession has always been in a downward spiral esp as of late#i dont want healthcare because i hate seeing dysfunctional glorified murder machines grinding around and around endlessly#acute care sucks id rather be in an icu for function but then im depressed because our patients are always dying#it was better as a phleb but this hospital doesnt have phleb and like i said im nervous about clinics#but i need to fucking commit to outpatient phlebotomy i think :/#the most fun ive had at a job ever#i wish i had more widely applicable skills but i cant be an emt/para even just for the training#because half of it is unpaid and the other half you pay for#and again#a job NOTORIOUS for being exhausting dangerous and traumatizing#if i was 17 again and wasnt escaping the tar pit of my mother id go for an english degree and i wouldnt even regret it#thinking about school in terms of a job i have to have forever vs for the sake of learning is so different#id like to know everything. i wanna read and write forever. and do research and have real technical skills that help people#im still riding off of the high of getting 5 ccs off of an oncology patient who desperately needed a port#they were able to run like seven tests off of it#i had to use a couple ped tubes#she only had to get poked Once and barely noticed it bc the doc team came in and im so happy i made her admission that muvh easier#labs are so miserable#checking back on the blood and seeing all of the results came through made me more pleased than anything else in the world

re: adobe being dogshit about rights as usual, i've seen affinity being thrown around as an alternative for layout/vectorising software. also worth noting the total claim of rights to your content might not apply to you if you're storing your stuff locally on your computer instead of on adobe cloud.
however, if you feel like cancelling your adobe sub on principal, affinity could be something to look into. it's a one-time purchase and has a free trial. if you're using photoshop purely for illustration, there are many other options out there too.

rather than just link you to my other answer, i will provide more (non-trauamtic) defining facets of my life: 1) my parents being almost 40 by the time they had me (38 and 39 respectively); 2) not getting my drivers license until i was 23 (follow this experience through the tag #kat learns to drive); and 3) my school in germany only having a mixed gender soccer team when i moved there in 4th grade

i feel like this is more difficult to just limit myself to 3. here's 3 random ones off the top of my head: eternal sunshine of the spotless mind, apollo 13, and the cutting edge.

#ask#alienmythologist#bc i didn't get my license until i was 23#after college when i moved home i was v limited in the part time jobs i was looking at#which is how i ended up submitting so many applications to the university my parents lived within walking distance of#which is how i first got started working in international admissions#which is the career i am still in now 11 years later#so#also the soccer thing:#when i was in the states as a kid i was on the local girls soccer team every fall and spring#and being an active sports kid was v much a part of my identity#but when we moved to germany my school only had a mixed gender soccer team#and the little german boys took soccer WAY MORE SERIOUSLY than i did#and they were all much better players than me#so i was only the second girl on the team and the other one was another german girl who'd known them all for years and spoke fluid german#so i felt super self-conscious and intimidated by my teammates#and also that fall was when my grandmother was dying so my mom was back in the states and my dad was busy most weekends#so i missed a lot of games#and after that one fall season i stopped playing soccer for years and kind of turned away from sports in general#i still played jv basketball and softball but it wasn't the same#and sometimes i wonder who i would have been if i had been so intimidated by that team

well i have a phone interview on monday. its for a job im not like. that excited abt, but its related to my field and pays ok.
#its basically case management... which i can do its just not my favorite#id prefer working w/ a broader scope than just on the individual level#but its a start#and maybe then i'll be able to afford the $400 to get licensed#so i can look for other kinds of jobs#i also have another application sent somewhere else#so lets hope i hear smth back and get good news uwu

#uk politics#transphobia in the uk is so ridiculous that transphobes dont event know the function of what they're trying to squash#a GRC generally speaking has little to no effect on the day to day lives of trans people#which is why there was a consultation to make the application process less cumbersome#as most trans folk I know dont see it as worth all the time and money#but suddenly its become something bigger than itself#because transphobes misunderstand the purpose of a GRC and think its like a police badge for bathroom use or something#its not. its literally just an update to your birth certificate. your passport and driving license etc can already be updated without one#and you dont need ANY id to use bathrooms anyway lmfao
