There's more than one reason why he's known as the 'Demon Cop'

Look this is 100% self gratifying crack. Based on my own 100% genuine experience:

I have a large tattoo, across my chest, shoulder blades and back. So, I was fairly resigned to the fact I'd probably never get to go to a public bath whilst visiting my friend in Japan, fair enough. One day however, she says she'd found a bath that allowed tattoos, and not just tiny ones that could be hidden by a plaster. So I go, very excited, and end up round the back of an area with a lot of signs advertising SoapIands and LoveHoteIs. I explain in the shakiest Japanese to the lady manning the counter that I have a large tattoo and she waves me in nonplussed. Pretty much every man there is covered in tattoos. Whilst I was drying my hair, one of them tries to ask me something but my Japanese was no where near good enough to answer. When I get back my friend seemed a little worried and then confesses that she'd found out, after I'd left, that she'd sent me to a yakuza bathhouse.

I wish I was able to understand what that man was trying to say to me.

Joey's home burned before his eyes, his sister nowhere to be seen.

The village had provided them nothing about Myo. Despite probably coming from a well-to-do family, this corner of the world was far too removed from any big city. It was unlikely any noble ever made their way through these parts, and even unlikelier that the ones making it through might be acquainted with some random lost man.

The party that attacked them on their way back was a different matter - headhunters, not local from what Joey could tell, who had a keen interest on the man. They didn't seem inclined to answer any questions, however.

Bloody and battered after they got rid of the group, this was the sight that greeted them as they arrived to the familiar clearing.

It seemed that, since they couldn't get Myo, they had decided to take something else.

"YOU!" Joey let out a pained scream as he pinned Myo to a tree, in an unforgiving choke-hold. "You did this!"

"Joey, I'm- I'm sorry. I don't know who they are, I.."

"Yeah, you don't know who they are, and you don't know who you are, and we don't know who you are! Why did I ever help you! You could be a criminal for all I know!"

"Joey... Joey... I'm sorry..." The man gasped as the pressure increased on his windpipe, when a glint caught his eye. Perhaps a last hope. "Your necklace..."

The blond looked down. The life jewel of the necklaces he and his sister shared was unblemished, undisturbed. He might not know where Serenity is, but she was not dead. Not yet, at least.

Joey trembled as a million thoughts went through his head - the stranger, the head hunters, his sister, his home...

"You had better be worth it, bastard. Let's go. Let's find out who you are. The kid you mentioned - he toldja to go past the border, didn't he?"

"Joey..."

"Move. You're right, Serenity is still alive - and the only way of gettin' her back is finding out who the people I need to beat up are. You're their target, so you're my only solution. So, for the sake of everything, move."

Tekken 8 post-ending head canons part 3

-Reina: she trains daily to control the Devil gene, she also watches Jin´s old fights in previous tournaments to learn how to beat him, she also admires him a lot, despise her hate. She is a devout buddhist, praying specially to Fudo-myo.

She loves very spicy food and japanese reality shows. She is obsessed with sports and techwear.

-Alisa: Loves iceskating and brings Lars to every iceskating plays and competitions with her. She is a fan of Yuzuru Hanyu. She also teaches him how to speak russian.

She likes spending time with the girls and going shopping with them and to parks.

Xiaoyu got her into xianxia chinese dramas, so they watch them together.

-Zafina: moved back to Egypt and is training herself in ancient egyptian rituals and also has a tarot online (and in person) service.

She started dating Claudio after a while. They both love learning about spirituality, archeology and religion.

-Claudio: moved to Egypt after was left for dead in the colisseum. He got new upgraded powers after the failed exorcism, unlocking new spells and rituals.

He asked Zafina out and they are both happily in Egypt.

-Leo: is building trust again with his/her/their??? father. Leo loves going hiking and archeology. Is going on a new adventure to explore a secret tomb that was found under Ortiz Farm.

-Azucena: her coffee brand got more famous after the tournament, she is helping Leo with the new research of the temple found under her farm. She is also an alien enthusiast. She is trying to get Leo into that. Sometimes she is a little bit odd about conspiracies and extraterrestial life.

-Nina Williams: went to Fiji Island to spend her holidays. She doesn´t answer yeat the thousands of calls from Reina. She is into self-care. She is also secretly trying to find her sister again to annoy her or kill her for good.

Rift Universe Fruits

1. Chabba Fruit- Sun shaped sour fruit used for lemonade equivalents.  The swirl on the front tastes like cinnamon and is used as a baking ingredient.  

2.  Disapear Fruit- A fruit that tastes like a cross between an apple and a pear.  It disappears when it feels threatened.

3. Gem Fruit- A fruit with delicious flesh that can be eaten without peeling.  Seeds are poisonous.

4. Pie-Pie Fruit- Poisonous and bitter tasting medicinal fruit.  Once refined it can be used to ease indigestion.

5. Frostdrop Fruit-  Fruit that can only be eaten when frozen, lest it melt and become a horrid gooey texture.

6. Grabba Fruit-  Used in stews, a hearty ingredient.  Hallow center, thick but sharp outer spines.

7. Cabso Fruit- A fishy smelling fruit with a sweet cherry flavored center.  The flesh around the center is inedible.

8. Tabua Fruit- Fruit that tastes awful in its base state.  The unpleasant inside is dried and refined into a dust which is used as a spice.

9. Soogar Fruit- Fruit just filled with a sweet syrup.  Is refined into sugar.

10. Myo Fruit- A fruit that has the consistency and taste of raw mammal meat.  Must be cooked to achieve peak flavor.

11. Angel Fruit- A juicy and minty fruit that grows where it snows.  Can be eaten raw or put in a salad.

12. Foya Fruit- A fruit as juicy as an orange and as spicy as a chili pepper.  Great ingredient in hotsauce.

13. Olda Dona Fruit- A Dona fruit that's far too ripe, do not eat this.

14. Bagbang Fruit- Non edible fruit. Seeds are crushed and used as gunpowder.

15. Purpur Fruit- Fruit filled with fresh, sweet water.  Essential on planets with no source of fresh water.

16. Sako Fruit- Fruit shaped like a fish that actually tastes like Gushers.

17.  Cinnakinna- Only perfect for eating when it begins to drip frosting-like syrup.  Any other time it's mediocre.

Rift Universe Meats

1. Dragon Roast, tough, pressure cook it.

2. Trotters, Meatsaur.  Meatsaur's are alien dinosaurs genetically altered to be ideal food.  

3. Liver, Meatsaur liver

4. Bunbun Kidneys, a toxin/poison neutralizing organ.  Soaked 72hrs before cooking renders it edible.  But why would you eat in the first place, that's gross, they're people.

5. Angel wings, small, sold in pairs.

6. The leg and foot of an unnamed mining species.  Not recognized as a planet with intelligent life, they're free game.

7. Angel leg, fine meats in the Inferno.  Technically illegal but lol you gonna say no to a demon?

8. Demon leg, fine meats in the Inferno.  Yeah them demons be fucky.

9. Entire Side, is fuckin big, animal has pretty patterns on their meat cause they skin is see through.  They live on the cold,  dark portion of Planet Rift.

10. Drumstick, Demon again, but this is pretty big and is usually fried specifically.

11. American-Style Roast, made of the native species of planet Rift, Moomkeys.  No one is safe.

12. Kallopian leg.  They lil predatory horses, but intelligent.  Everyone is food.

13. Tomahawk Steak, a fuckin frog thing, nothing special about them other than they hail from Kallop like the Kallopians.

16. Ghost Filet, super hard to get so expensive.  Like not even sold to financially underwhelming people.  Tastes like fish.

17. T-Bone, unnamed slum animal.  Common meat eaten by the people at the Base of Rift City's buildings.  Tastes like 'gator.

19. Angel Wing, large, sold individually.

20. Meatsaur Tongue, eaten by higher class Rift residents.

21. Meatsaur strips, for your fussy lil baby who demands tendies.

23. Macro Ham, made from different cuts of Macros, giant insects, all glued together.  Presented as cold cuts.

26. Dragon Neck, enjoyed by older Rift generations.  Not very good really but it's TRADITION.

27. Ribs, unnamed giant bird found on rift.  Kinda cruel to eat this considering the birds are peaceful.

28. Sard Tail, like eating a fucking fetus you monster.  Sards reproduce by budding, dropping their tail end so it can reform into a new Sard.  You're awful for eating this.

Rift Universe Plants

1. Sky Bush, a bush that floats through the air.  Good luck to spot one.

2. Mercy Belles, flower named after an act performed in Rift's history.  A pair of frighten sisters offered these flower to a Rift colonizer as they begged for their life.  They were not spared.  Bad luck to give one to someone you like.

3. Coro Tree, secretes a sap that eats away at the tree itself.  

4. Peaktre Tree, small tree often trimmed into shapes.  Sprouts flowers on the leafy portion a translucent reflective dangly flowers below.

5. Hoverleaf bush, remarkable due to the fact that the leaves float, but is otherwise poisonous.

6. Devil's Tail stalk, secretes a tasty yet often throat-closing sap.

7. Brealla, tall stalks of harmless plant that can be used a defense against Rift's acid rain.

8. Marsh Mall, mushroom that tastes like chocolate and gets you high as fuck.  Dangerous in high doses.

P. Fliver, mobil plant native to Kallop.

10. Relp Cabbage, loved by herbivores of Rift.

11. Triproot, root-system that relies on its preytripping and falling into it's tendrils.

12. Speaksies, aka Screamers.  Replays what it hears to excess when a living thing nears it.  Fields of these flowers are  completely devoid of any life with a heartbeat.

13.  Scarebros, also found in fields but uses a humanoid figure to deter other humanoids from nearing it's flower.  Grows  better in well cared-for farms, humanoid figure can be harvested as farm-animal feed.

14. Orbit Berries, tastey!  Picks up small objects and flings them at enemies.

15. Space Rose, the first flower found by human astronauts.  Not really a flower, it's a demon below the planet they were on.

16. Garlands, leaves that grow from a mold found only on ceilings.

Hi Raven!!! You are the boss of bonrin fics so I’m asking for some advice since I’m looking to to write one. A big pet peeve of mine is that ryuuji is portrayed as catholic a lot even though he’s Buddhist. Asking if you have some sources or advice for writing a Buddhist character (I’m catholic so I’m pretty confident in portraying rin)???

I wouldn't say I'm the boss, but I've probably written the most xD

Ryuuji getting portrayed as a Catholic is also a major pet peeve of mine, and something I always strive not to do. Especially in canon following fics. (AUs I can understand, but even then I typically don't write him that way.)

Ryuuji follows a Vajrayana form of Buddhism, and he is (I believe) specifically a Shingon Buddhist. (A specific school of Buddhism in Japan. Here is a pretty good run down.)

Things to keep in mind:

Meditation is important and frequently done. It's not limited to sitting and chanting mantras either. You can and should meditate while doing anything. Cleaning, cooking, exercising, etc.

Ryuuji's form of Buddhism (most forms) have a high importance on teaching. Learning from a master is the only way to get a lot of information. It's a very secretive form of Buddhism. (Probably why Karura is with them.) Which also means a lot of knowledge died on the Blue Night with the elders.

Japanese Buddhism does not require you to shave your hair, and does not require you to give up meat in your diet, and allows you to get married, so you don't have to worry about having that in a story.

Ryuuji's form of Buddhism has a lot of focus on fire rituals ('Goma' rituals which is what they use Goma hall for.)

Buddhists' believe that all life is sacred. They're against hurting/killing others and don't believe in holding grudges. (Lol at the filler episode and the 'grudges over food can last generations!' Ryuuji trying to curb that potential before it even happens xD But also, the drama of his drive to defeat Satan for what he took from them.)

Ryuuji's form of Buddhism is heavily connected to the pantheon of Buddhist deities, including the Fudo Myo-o (The Immovable One. The statue you see in a lot of Ryuuji and Kyoto Trio art. He has Kurikara in most depictions. Kurikara is the sword he wields in most text, and the symbol you see on Kurikara and in the True Cross logo is his.) They are connected to the other Myo-o (the wisdom kings) like Yamantaka too. They'll invoke them for rituals and prayers for aids.

So for writing him, the first step is to simply not include any Catholic thinking/influence. He was raised at a dying Buddhist temple so he wouldn't have any real interaction with Catholicism before True Cross Academy. Guilt won't be a big driving force for him, but determination and an enormous work ethic will be. He's determined not to hurt humans/animals, and he has a lot of ways he meditates during his free time (traditional meditation, studying, exercising, cleaning.) He's a good student because he's been one all his life and it's tied to how he learns about his faith -- also why he gets really annoyed at people not willing to put any effort into learning or who try to do something that isn't learning/listening during classes. He has a really strong drive for justice, and isn't afraid to correct what he sees as bad behavior. (Also part of Buddhist practice. The teachers will correct the students.) He's going to eventually be entrusted with a lot of the secretive knowledge of his sect, and he takes that very seriously.

Hotline Ruina and Acceptance (and a lack thereof)

I've been playing Hotline Miami 2 & Library of Ruina lately, and it's got me thinking about their similarities. Both are settings that have incredible violence, interesting characters, and they're both very gloomy and kinda depressing, though Ruina is way more dystopian. But what I've been thinking about is how these series handle death.

A bit of a warning: there will be spoilers for both Hotline Miami and Library of Ruina, as well as mentions of death.

D A N G E R S P O I L E R S A H E A D

In Hotline Miami 2, we see into the lives of everyone involved in the story. The Fans, Beard (Jacket's friend from the first game), Manny Pardo, Richter, and even some members of the Russian Mafia. While the gameplay is still more or less the same as the first, you realize that the people you fight and kill throughout the game also have names, aspirations, and are trying to live their lives, no matter how egregious the cost. You also learn that they're all heading to a quite literal dead end. We also learn how 50 Blessings operates (the people who spurred the assaults on the Russian Mafia.) Basically, what ultimately happens is that this cycle of violence escalates so intensely that it leads to nuclear annihilation. Every character we've ever gotten to know and see the life of gone in an instant. And do you know what I felt? Hollow...but I also felt acceptance. I came to terms with the fact that all these characters made the decisions that brought them all to that point. And there's nothing that we the player could have done to change the outcome. Now let's switch gears over to Ruina shall we?

Library of Ruina follows up after the events of Lobotomy Corporation (which you should play beforehand) We follow Angela (the Library Director) and Roland (a washed-up grade 9 fixer). Basically Angela fills Roland in on her plan to become human. Angela created the library in an effort to find "The Perfect Book" to make her human. She intends to do this by sending out invitations to certain guests so that upon their arrival she will kill them and trap them in books. So throughout the game you fight all these guests and learn about them. You may get attached to them only to realize that you have to fight them. And THIS. SUCKS. It gets even worse when you end up fighting recurring characters that appeared in Lobotomy Corporation. Ultimately after a bunch of fighting, floor realizations, and one final battle between Angela and Roland having been blinded by revenge, the two ultimately come to their senses realizing that their conquests for revenge caused so much harm to The City (which already has a whole slew of problems, but that's another can of worms.) So Angela ultimately releases the light built up in the Library, releasing everyone who has ever been trapped in a book, effectively giving them all a second chance. Now how did I feel after this? Initially ENRAGED... then relieved (woo hoo Myo gets to live! :D)

You're probably wondering what the point of any of this is. It all comes down to a question that I've been asking myself the past few months. How come I can accept everyone's death in Hotline Miami 2, but not the deaths of certain characters in Library of Ruina? Maybe it's that not everyone in Ruina dies, maybe I'm comparing apple to oranges here, or maybe it's something else. Regardless, what do you think? I'd like to hear your thoughts on this.

I actually love Myo and Gebura’s dynamic. With how Myo looks up to her, and upholds her as a bright, shining figure who gives her meaning in life, despite all the immorality of the wings.

While for Gebura, when she sees Myo again in Ruina, is not pleased to see her at all. She sees that Myo isn’t a hero at all. Myo even questions this herself, realizing that her path has split from The Red Mist’s so extensively that she really can’t call herself a hero. Fulfilling the wishes of R Corp, having likely contributed in the horror that is the Smoke War, and handing people WARP Train tickets, while fully knowing and comprehending the sheer unimaginable torment that entails really is quite damning for Myo.

It’s kind of crazy how even after all the mess, all the rage, all the torment Gebura has experienced, she comes out the other end, with both her past and future, as a hero, while Myo is just another citizen of The City.

Edit: This blogpost is sort of messy and there is definitely a lot more to their dynamic. Especially in gameplay, with how The Strongest, which is one of The Red Mist’s defining characteristics, just simply isn’t complete without Myo’s Prowess. Like, it’s practically downright foolish to try to run The Strongest without Myo’s Prowess.

Because I’m having fun and the initial post gave me ideas, I am calling this the Hot Girl Shit AU. Sometimes I have serious titles, today is not one of those days.

Since Ganondorf’s design was somewhat based on either Zhu Bajie or Fudo Myo-o depending on the game, I wanted to carry some references to that over in Shadow’s design. He’s already got a very good and iconic manga design (purple hair and red eyes), but since I want to emphasize his connection to Ganon and mythic position as the heir of Din in this evil little triforce trio, I figure I can spice him up. Make him look Gerudo, possibly give him a high ponytail, etc.

Shadow was created by Ganon in FSA after he took possession of the Trident of Power and, as far as I can tell, used it somehow on the Mirror of Darkness. Combining a LttP reference and a Twilight Princess reference is indeed a powerful move. So, with Shadow newly resurrected and off the string, I feel like it would be funny to give him a plot device trident of mass destruction.

I am also severely tempted to give him sleeve tattoos that look like the inscriptions on the TP Mirror of Twilight. To my eternal disappointment, the script doesn’t actually say anything except maybe a misspelled “OPEN” repeated ad infinitum.

Next up: OoT Dark.

He’s the hot one. I want to lean on the fourth wall a little and acknowledge the fact that he was everyone’s fifth grade fictional emo boyfriend. Dark remains clueless, because he’s the reflection of a toddler trapped in a teenager’s body whose sole purpose was to duel, but clueless or not he’s still hot.

White hair, solid red eyes, black clothes, grey-black skin, you know the drill. Since he’s the representative of wisdom and water in the trio, as well as everything the Hero of Time is insecure about, he’s the obligatory Hylian of the group. Or at least he looks like one. Shadow manages to teach him enough shapeshifting to look less like a sleep paralysis demon, and he copies his hero fairly well (keeps the hair), but he still prefers demon form if he can afford it.

Later on in their adventures, because I like causing problems, he manages to update his “reflection” of the Hero of Time and steal the Fierce Deity’s look. In black, naturally. He mostly uses a dark copy of the Master Sword and the Hylian Shield though.

And then.

Last but certainly not least: Zelda 2, Link’s shadow, here nicknamed Nightmare.

Nightmare gives me a lot of room to play with since he’s mostly flat black pixels shaped like Link’s silhouette. I decided to base his design notes on what I imagine would give the Hero of Hyrule a heart attack, as well as natural inspiration he might get once Shadow explains the wonders of shapeshifting.

They’ve all got mostly grey-black default forms, even Shadow, but Nightmare takes the longest to switch his up. He’s got two major notes to start off with: Hyrule is terrified of bleeding, especially in public; and I imagine he’d be very secretive about his ability to turn into a fairy, out of fear of exploitation. Nightmare doesn’t wish him any ill will, and looked fairly plain during their duel, but during this second chance at life he starts going through a bit of a punk phase and indulging things his counterpart represses/would never do.

So! He shapeshifts freely into a little shadowy fairy whenever he wants, trailing sparks of darkness instead of fairy glitter. His fashion choices point to his fairy side as well as details of his boss room:

I decided one cool column is all the excuse I need to give him a knee-length chiton, also pulling in the neat drape texture of the curtains. His hair is that same light blue because I have a sense of humor. Skin tone mostly matches his counterpart and/or the tan bricks of the boss room, and while he likes to have red eyes to fit in with the other shadows they’ll also occasionally be the ominous magenta of his duel backdrop.

I have a theory that the fight might have taken place inside Hyrule’s mind, which is one explanation for why all the lights go out and then come back on the second he kills Nightmare. So Nightmare can have some spooky and currently undefined mind powers, as a treat. Also for extra fear points, he can have a Great Fairy form.

Hyrule is terrified of bleeding because his blood is a necessary ingredient for reviving Ganon. Nightmare doesn’t actually have the cursed blood, he’s just a nightmare, so he doesn’t have to worry about bleeding. If anything, he actually gets used to the idea of being an individual by just… bleeding at random for the aesthetic. It could be from anywhere, but a slice across the throat is a pretty good reference to what various monsters want to do to drain Hyrule. Nightmare is not only free of that burden, but he’s also a magical creature that can either cast illusions or just might be immune to bleeding out, so. He’s doing hot girl shit.

When he’s not in the mood to be intensely colorful, he’ll switch his hair and chiton to black, and his eyes will mostly stay red. His magic still has a weird magenta or ultraviolet tinge to it, though.

I will make another post at some point to cover my vague plot ideas because I have a hilarious concept to put forward. I’m hoping this post is coherent, I am Very Sleepy.

just support your favorite artists financially if you want them to stop ‘wasting their talent’. otherwise, you don’t actually give a single shit about artists. you just want them to provide you a free entertainment medium YOU prefer.

P.S.: Sirises - are my alien original species and a crucial part of that exact story which I’ve been developing since 2014 but never had an opportunity to share a single piece of it due to being too busy while trying to survive. my main OC Isay - is a Siris, a main character of this animatic series in question, and my meaning of life. if I’m as autistic artist with depression, PTSD, ADHD and numerous health issues including one that requires surgery can somehow monetize Sirises in the moment of my life when I have NO OTHER WAY to make a living at all due to being a war refugee in a foreign country - I will monetize them to survive so I be able to move towards my dream.

P.S.S.: art - is a luxury item, not a necessity like food or meds. no one forces people to buy commissions, adopts, MYOs (Sirises by the way have a plenty of free options to obtain but of course you’d never bother to check), action figurines, games, physical music albums etc etc etc. it’s always person’s decision and person’s choice how to manage their earned money. and if this little purchase makes person happier and doesn’t harm anyone, and if I can provide this little piece of joy to someone while also making a living myself - why fucking not? it’s their choice, it’s their business. not yours. not mine either. it’s not my place to validate or invalidate the way other adult people manage their income. my place and my only responsibility - is to make sure that I myself have money to pay my rent and bills, to buy my meds, antidepressants included, and food, to visit a doctor, to prepare to my gallbladder removal surgery, to manage my iron deficiency anemia. to survive. and to fulfill my dream.
