I complained on my main blog already but I’m gonna complain here too. I’m trying to read more book books cause I do miss the days when I was reading one a day. I still read everyday cause of fics, but it’s not quite the same. But man is Great Expectations hard for me to get through. I literally do not care! I should’ve started with a different book of his. But I’m in it now and I’ll finish it but I’m so indifferent I’m reading it super slowly. I only like nice characters okay, so when I’m presented with an annoying character who looks down on others I mentally check out. Being smart and rich now doesn’t make it alright for you to be an asshole, you’re not entitled to anything. And I get he’s a teenager and all and doesn’t know any better but I wish he stayed naive and kind hearted and childish. I’m not far enough into the book yet and I really can’t be bothered but I’m gonna finish this so I can ready other Agatha Christie book <3
Writing wise, I’ve drafted the next part of the fake dating fic. I think I should update the sibling verse at some point too… I do have chapter 11 done but I’ve not finished chapter 12… I should also finish writing Vigilante Shit for midnights, and that’s about it as far as my ongoing WIPs go. I’ve not started the next chapter of the powers verse yet but I know I need to. See I start a bunch of things and then I get distracted by more verses. It’s why I have to be kept accountable by either collabing or gifting a fic or else I’ll literally put it off and go at my own pace which could take forever. There’s like a million more things I think about, but I don’t have the time/motivation to write all of them. Isn’t it enough that it lives in my head? Must I actually write them?

"When bloodstream infections set in, fast treatment is crucial — but it can take several days to identify the bacteria responsible. A new, rapid-diagnosis sepsis test could cut down on the wait, reducing testing time from as much as a few days to about 13 hours by cutting out a lengthy blood culturing step, researchers report July 24 [2024] in Nature.
“They are pushing the limits of rapid diagnostics for bloodstream infections,” says Pak Kin Wong, a biomedical engineer at Penn State who was not involved in the research. “They are driving toward a direction that will dramatically improve the clinical management of bloodstream infections and sepsis.”
Sepsis — an immune system overreaction to an infection — is a life-threatening condition that strikes nearly 2 million people per year in the United States, killing more than 250,000 (SN: 5/18/08). The condition can also progress to septic shock, a steep drop in blood pressure that damages the kidneys, lungs, liver and other organs. It can be caused by a broad range of different bacteria, making species identification key for personalized treatment of each patient.
In conventional sepsis testing, the blood collected from the patient must first go through a daylong blood culturing step to grow more bacteria for detection. The sample then goes through a second culture for purification before undergoing testing to find the best treatment. During the two to three days required for testing, patients are placed on broad-spectrum antibiotics — a blunt tool designed to stave off a mystery infection that’s better treated by targeted antibiotics after figuring out the specific bacteria causing the infection.
Nanoengineer Tae Hyun Kim and colleagues found a way around the initial 24-hour blood culture.
The workaround starts by injecting a blood sample with nanoparticles decorated with a peptide designed to bind to a wide range of blood-borne pathogens. Magnets then pull out the nanoparticles, and the bound pathogens come with them. Those bacteria are sent directly to the pure culture. Thanks to this binding and sorting process, the bacteria can grow faster without extraneous components in the sample, like blood cells and the previously given broad-spectrum antibiotics, says Kim, of Seoul National University in South Korea.
Cutting out the initial blood culturing step also relies on a new imaging algorithm, Kim says. To test bacteria’s susceptibility to antibiotics, both are placed in the same environment, and scientists observe if and how the antibiotics stunt the bacteria’s growth or kill them. The team’s image detection algorithm can detect subtler changes than the human eye can. So it can identify the species and antibiotic susceptibility with far fewer bacteria cells than the conventional method, thereby reducing the need for long culture times to produce larger colonies.
Though the new method shows promise, Wong says, any new test carries a risk of false negatives, missing bacteria that are actually present in the bloodstream. That in turn can lead to not treating an active infection, and “undertreatment of bloodstream infection can be fatal,” he says. “While the classical blood culture technique is extremely slow, it is very effective in avoiding false negatives.”
Following their laboratory-based experiments, Kim and colleagues tested their new method clinically, running it in parallel with conventional sepsis testing on 190 hospital patients with suspected infections. The testing obtained a 100 percent match on correct bacterial species identification, the team reports. Though more clinical tests are needed, these accuracy results are encouraging so far, Kim says.
The team is continuing to refine their design in hopes of developing a fully automated sepsis blood test that can quickly produce results, even when hospital laboratories are closed overnight. “We really wanted to commercialize this and really make it happen so that we could make impacts to the patients,” Kim says."

Mom!friend reader bringing everyone cute lunches at the bau with personalized little notes for each person 😭 maybe hotch doesn’t even know that you do this for the others too so when someone mentions readers cooking, he’s like “wat”
personalized
ADORABLE cw; bau!fem!reader, established relationship, mentions of food, fluff and aaron being cute <3
the pace at which aaron was moving must've been more intense than he intended and realized; as he hurried past jj's desk, the small draft that followed caused a small piece of paper to flutter to the ground.
uttering an apology, aaron immediately reached down to pick it up. however it had landed face up, and his eyebrows furrowed in small confusion as he caught a glimpse of its contents.
your familiar handwriting kept his eyes, instead of peering away as he normally would - 'my sweet jj! thank you so much for your help on the arizona case file, you're a total lifesaver and your expertise is always appreciated, hope you know that. enjoy <3 ps - your new lavender sweater is the cutest. must plan a shopping day w/ pen soon!'
aaron's eyebrows stayed in that confused line, his eyes shifting up to jj's in a silent question.
"came with the cookies." jj answered for him, pointing her head towards the tupperware container perched on her desktop.
instantly aaron's mind made the connection - so that's why you were up late baking. that made more sense; the time you had spent baking was much too long for the small plateful quantity he had found reserved for him and jack this morning.
"pretty girl sure knows how to cook." derek added into the conversation as he approached the cluster of desks, raising his hand to pat aaron on the back but stopped himself halfway - aaron shot him a pointed look, hiding his own amusement, while jj attempted to conceal her smile with her palm.
another eyebrow furrow. "and when have you had her cooking?"
"here and there. always comes with a note too. i could just about fill a desk drawer with how many i have." derek admitted, with his signature, vivid grin. "she may be yours, we get special treatment too, y'know."
a bit later, you strolled into aaron's office, juggling numerous files in your hands.
"as requested," you started, dropping them firmly onto aaron's desk. "five action reports, minus dave's. he told me when you're as experienced and italian as he is, you can slack off and kinda get away with it. but i think that's his fancy way of admitting he's old." you joked with a eye roll.
"thank you," aaron flashed you a smile, sorting through his current papers. assuming that was all, you spun on your heel to head out and return to the everlasting joy of paperwork, but, aaron's voice stopped you.
"hey hold it, c'mere a sec."
you pulled back one of the chairs in front of hiss desk, the legs producing a scraping noise against the floorboards, but aaron gestured for you to come around. your eyes darted in the direction of his open blinds, then back at him. 'you sure?'
aaron nodded in confirmation. and if you needed any more convincing, once in reach you were pulled onto his lap, his hold on you tight.
if he wasn't being a stickler on the open affection, neither were you; you relaxed yourself against him just as you would normally, your body melting into his and throwing your arms loosely around his neck. "what's up?"
"i didn't know you wrote the team notes."
"oh," you laughed softly, with a light shake of your head. by habit your fingers ran along the skin of aaron's neck, scratching the nape of his hair gently. "yeah, if i bring in lunch or a treat or something. or both. or sometimes just because. an appreciation reminder."
aaron nodded, his fingers drumming against your hip comfortably.
"that's not a problem, is it?"
"well," aaron pretended to think, his hand changing motions and sliding up and down your side, "yes."
"actually?" you blurted as your own fingers paused. that wasn't the answer you expected, and it caused a rush of nervous heat to pool within you. until, you saw the feigned, solemn expression on his face.
aaron peered down at you, his playful eyes canceling out the forced pout on his lips. under his breath, he mumbled humorously, "i thought i was the only one getting notes."
you laughed brightly, the joy within the sound immediately bringing a smile to aaron's lips. "oh don't worry, they don't get the lipstick smooch on theirs. that's reserved for you and you only."
"i would hope not."
"or the, occasional... explicitness."
"again, i would hope not." aaron laughed again. his lips graced your temple, lingering gently as he spoke, "you're sweet."
"a very wise, very attractive person once said, 'people need to know they're important'." your lips quirked into a loving smile, a glint in your eyes. "thought this would be an easy way - i learned from the best."

multicharacter (atsumu, kuroo, sugawara, akaashi, kenma, & suna) x reader. 1.2k wc. ノ sfw ノ fluff ノ meet cute scenarios with them ! ! ノ repost from old blog :3
Tumblr media
ᡣ𐭩 you pretend to be ATSUMU’s date so he doesn’t have to face an awkward interaction with his ex. you’re a little surprised when the random man approaches you and practically begs for your help through slightly slurred words. the desperation behind his cocoa-colored eyes and the soft pink hue flushing his cheeks convince you to go along with his deception. your mediocre night at the bar transforms into something much more entertaining as you get to know the blonde stranger. the two of you effortlessly click, bouncing jokes back and forth and breaking out in fits of rowdy laughter. despite the feel of angry eyes burning a hole into the back of your head (which must have meant his plan was working), you enjoy your time with the man you’ve come to learn is miya atsumu, who now holds the title of the most interesting person you’ve encountered at your regular drinking establishment. by the end of the night, the two of you are exchanging numbers and promising to meet again. maybe you’ll upgrade from a pretend partner of convenience to his true significant other.
ᡣ𐭩 KUROO holds the elevator door when he sees you rushing towards it. you’re out of breath by the time you make it into the lift, but you use what little air you have left to thank the man profusely for the polite gesture. he’s a lifesaver, you tell him—you surely would have been late without his kindness. when he asks what floor you plan on getting off at, you laugh, explaining that you’re also stopping at the already-lit floor twelve. the two of you share small talk before getting off, both of you making your way to the receptionist. you ask them to point you to kuroo tetsuro’s office and that’s when the man finally reveals his identity. he’s the one interviewing you for the position to become his personal assistant. your cheeks heat with embarrassment at your lack of punctuality, but kuroo assures you that he understands that life happens—he’s willing to look past it, especially considering the effort you put in to attempt to make it here on time. his reassurance and your conversation with him in the elevator make the process of the interview a lot less nerve-wracking. kuroo is impressed with your resume, your experience, and most of all, you. he hires you on the spot. looks like you’ll both be seeing a lot more of each other.
ᡣ𐭩 you and SUGA help reunite a lost child with their parents. it’s hard not to jump into action when you see a distraught kid on their own. though, as soon as you make it to them, another person is also on the scene—the more help, the better. you share a knowing look with him before he turns his attention to the kid. you can tell he’s a natural when it comes to children. he isn’t bothered by the crying and easily calms the kid down, wiping away their tears with his thumbs, a gentle, comforting smile not once leaving his face. you’re both knelt down in front of them, quietly asking questions to see if they might remember any information that would help you get them back to their guardians. it’s not long before the kid nods and agrees to show you where they wandered off from. they take each of your hands, leading the two of you back to where they had last seen their parents. your hand and suga’s rhythmically swing with the kid’s before they spot a familiar couple and release you both, running into the arms of their mother. after plenty of apologies and many words of gratitude, you compliment suga on his great abilities with children and he says likewise; “the two of us make a great team.”
ᡣ𐭩 AKAASHI catches you after you slip on a patch of ice. his hands cuff your biceps as he steadies you and helps you regain your balance. you thank him, call him a lifesaver, and quickly apologize for the inconvenience. akaashi brushes it off as if it’s nothing, but he insists on accompanying you on the rest of your walk to your destination, you know, to make sure you get there safely. you accept his kind offer, after all, there’s no harm in having a cute guy keeping you company on the way to your stop. he introduces himself and you do the same. he’s soft-spoken but easy to talk to, the kind of guy everyone is comfortable around. he attentively listens to your words and answers each question you throw his way. he’s got a warm, soothing aura that draws you in. distracted by the pleasant discussion, you almost walk straight past the cafe you meant to stop at. turns out that the very coffee shop you were going to was the same one that akaashi frequented each day before work. he’d never run into you before, but he certainly wouldn’t mind seeing you again.
ᡣ𐭩 you text the wrong number and KENMA happens to be the receiver. the paragraph you type out excitedly rambles on about the release of the new game you had been anticipating for months. you don’t even realize you’ve sent the message to the wrong number until you get a reply. the unknown soul on the other end informs you of your blunder, but follows up with a text in response to your initial message in which they mirror your excitement for the upcoming release. it’s easy to ignore your mistake when the person you unintentionally reached out to has such an extensive knowledge on one of the things you find interest in. all the advice you’ve absorbed about not talking to strangers is out the window as you continue your conversation with your mystery companion. despite the amusing result of your slip-up, you have to bid your newfound acquaintance farewell. when you tune in for your favorite streamer’s live gameplay the next night, you’re more than surprised to hear him retell the exact same events you experienced the night before. turns out you were talking to the famous kodzuken.
ᡣ𐭩 SUNA accidentally knocks on your door instead of your neighbor’s. it’s his first time visiting the twins in their new apartment and he can’t be bothered to confirm whether the unit was 32A or 33A, so he trusts his gut and sticks to the former. his knuckles knock against the door and he wonders which twin will answer before he’s met with an unfamiliar figure. you greet the man with a smile despite not knowing who he is or what he’s here for. suna explains the misunderstanding and you laugh, confirming that the place he’s looking for is next door. though, suna’s in no rush to meet the twins and since you aren’t entirely opposed to making a new friend, the two of you stand at the threshold of your doorway and joke about the funny situation. it’s about ten minutes past the time the miyas were expecting him but he hasn’t bothered to check the time—hell, he’s almost forgotten why he’s in the hallway until the door next to yours swings open and atsumu emerges. he’s reminded of his original plans and reluctantly says goodbye, mentally making a note that 32A is the door he wants to knock on in the future.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
January 24th 2024 | 29 weeks + 6 days.
“You’ll definitely be there tonight?” Leah asked, slipping her hands underneath your shirt from behind to rest on your bump.
You turned your head to place a kiss on her cheek, “Yes Le, I promise I’ll be there. I’m going to head to work, check on the bakery and then I’m meeting your Mum and Jacob.”
Tonight, Leah was making her comeback from her ACL. It was against Reading and after a long ten months, she was finally going to be back on the pitch. You were travelling up with her family while she was travelling on the coach with the team.
The excitement in Leah was unmistakable. “I can’t wait to see you in the stands,” she whispered, giving your bump a gentle rub before stepping back.
You smiled, “I’ll be the loudest one there, I promise.” You turned towards the kitchen, grabbing your bag and keys. “Now, I better get going before I’m late.”
Leah followed you to the door, her face a mix of excitement and nerves. “Don’t overdo it at the bakery, okay?”
You nodded, “I won’t. Just a quick check-in to make sure everything’s running smoothly. Besides, Maia has got it all under control.” You said, referring to the young girl who worked at your bakery and was currently running it.
She leaned in for one last kiss. “I love you. See you tonight.”
“Love you too,” you replied. “You’re gonna smash it tonight!”
The bakery was only a short drive away, and as you navigated through the familiar streets, your mind wandered to Leah’s match. The journey had been tough on her, both physically and mentally, and tonight she was going to be making her comeback.
Pulling up to the bakery, you saw the bustling activity inside. It was a small place, but it was yours and you loved it a lot.
You checked in with Maia and sorted some paperwork, you quickly brainstormed a few sales ideas with Maia before you went on your way.
The next stop was Leah’s mum’s house, where you joined her and Jacob for the journey to the stadium.
“Ready to cheer for Le?” Jacob asked as you stepped out of the door, “She sent me a list of your favourite snacks right now for the drive, they’re in the car.
“Ready as ever!” you laughed, “You better not steal my sweets!”
“Everything went well at the bakery?” Amanda asked.
“Smooth as always. Maia’s a lifesaver.”
She nodded, pulling you into a warm hug. “Let’s get going then. We don’t want to miss a moment of Leah’s big night.”
The drive to the stadium was filled with chatter and laughter, you and Jacob bickered like siblings, everyone was buzzing with excitement. As you arrived and found your seats, the energy in the stadium was electric. Fans were pouring in, and the atmosphere was just the same as usual.
You settled into your seat in the box, Jacob on one side and Leah’s mum on the other with the rest of her family scattered around to you. As the teams started to warm up on the pitch, you scanned the field, your eyes searching for Leah. When you finally spotted her, your heart swelled with happiness. She looked focused, determined, and ready to give it her all.
Soon, the warm ups were over and both teams headed inside. Your phone pinged in your pocket, you smiled once you saw it was Leah.
Le 💕: please come see me quickly? x
You: be there in two seconds! x
You excused yourself and made your way down to the tunnel where the players' entrance was. The stadium buzzed around you, but your focus was solely on getting to Leah.
As you approached, a security guard let you through with a nod and a smile. You navigated the narrow corridor, the hum of excitement palpable. Finally, you spotted Leah standing near the entrance to the changing rooms. Her eyes lit up when she saw you.
“There’s my girl,” she said softly, wrapping her arms around you as she placed a kiss on your cheeks.
“Are you ready?” you asked, looking up into her eyes, searching for any signs of nerves.
She nodded. “I am. I’ve worked so hard for this moment. Just needed to see you one last time before I go out there.”
You placed a hand on her cheek, your thumb brushing lightly over her skin. “You’re going to be amazing, Leah. I know it. We all know it.”
She smiled as she rested her hand on your bump, “He’s lively tonight! Must be excited to see his Mumma play.”
“He’s definitely having a party,” you laughed, “Now go out there and show them what you’re made of.”
With one final kiss, you stepped back, giving her a reassuring smile. Leah took a deep breath, nodded, and turned to head into the changing rooms.
As you made your way back to your seat, you felt the anticipation build. The stadium lights brightened, the announcer's voice echoed, and the crowd’s excitement surged as the teams were introduced.
You settled back in with Leah’s family, clutching your bag of snacks that Jacob had dutifully packed. The roar of the crowd grew louder, and when Leah’s name was called, the noise was deafening. You stood, cheering as loud as you could, feeling your baby kick inside you as if he was sharing the excitement.
“Is she alright?” Lia asked, leaning from her seat to talk to you from behind.
You nodded, “Yeah, she’s just a bit nervous and wanted to see me. If I’m perfectly honest I think she just wanted a kiss.”
Laura laughed, shaking her head, “She’s so in love with you.”
The match kicked off, and it wasn’t long before Arsenal scored. Goals came swiftly, one after another, and by the 60th minute, the score was 4-0 in Arsenal's favour. Caitlin had scored in the 23rd minute followed by Stina in the 35th and again in the 45th and finally Laia in the 51st. The crowd was ecstatic, nerves bubbled up inside of you knowing Leah would soon be on the pitch.
When the fourth official held up her number for her to come on, the stadium erupted in applause and cheers. She high-fived Beth’s hand, who was also coming on, before exchanging a quick hug with Caitlin and then Jen.
You leaned forward, gripping the edge of your seat as you watched Leah take her position on the field. It was a moment you had both been waiting for. She looked calm and ready to play, you felt completely different however as nerves continued to build up inside.
Minutes passed as the game resumed its fast pace. Leah moved quickly, her touches confident and like she’d never been away. Even her leadership skills were evident after being out for so long.
Then, in the 80th minute, the moment you had been waiting for arrived. Sabs passed the ball to Leah who kicked it up the pitch to Beth. The ball sailed over and landed perfectly at Beth’s feet, giving her the chance to slot it into the back of the net. The stadium erupted in cheers, and you jumped to your feet, tears of joy streaming down your face.
“Did you see that?” Jacob yelled, his face beaming with joy.
Leah’s teammates mobbed her and Beth in celebration, their joy mirroring yours. Her smile was wide and she looked shocked at her assist. She looked up into the stands, and you knew she was looking for you.
You waved, hoping she could see how proud you were. She gave a small, discreet wave back, her eyes locking onto yours for just a second before she was pulled back into the game.
The final whistle blew with the score at 6-0. The crowd erupted in applause and chants, celebrating both the team’s victory and Leah’s return. As the players made their way off the pitch, you could see the exhaustion and elation on Leah’s face. She had done it. She was back.
After the match, Leah spotted you and ran up to the box, her face beaming with a mixture of relief and joy.
“You were incredible!” you exclaimed, throwing your arms around her.
Leah hugged you tightly, whispering in your ear, “I couldn’t have done it without you.”
You pulled back, “I’m so proud of you, Le.”
Leah kissed you quickly before moving onto her mum, “Alright, mum?”
Amanda pulled her baby close, “I’m so proud of you, bubba!”
Leah took a deep breath as she held onto her mum. “Thanks, Mum. It feels like a dream.”
After a few more hugs and words of congratulations for her family, Leah turned back to you, her hand finding yours. “Let’s go home,” she said softly, “I’m going to get changed then I’ll meet you out the front?”
You nodded, “Sounds perfect!”
Leah headed back down and got changed before heading out the front to meet you. As you made your way out of the stadium with Leah and her family, you felt your baby boy kick again, almost as if he was celebrating too. You looked over at Leah, who was walking beside you, her hand never leaving yours. She caught your gaze and smiled.
“He’s going to be a footballer, I think,” Leah said, placing a hand on your bump.
“Just like his mum then?,” you replied, leaning into her.
Amanda and Jacob walked a few steps ahead, giving you both a moment of privacy. As you reached the car, you felt a wave of exhaustion wash over you, but it was a good kind of tired, the kind that comes after a day filled with joy and excitement.
The drive home was quiet, the kind of comfortable silence that comes with being surrounded by family. Leah’s hand was warm in yours, and you could feel her contentment radiating off her. It had been a long journey to get here, but she had made it. You both had.
When you finally reached home, Leah helped you out of the car, her movements careful and gentle. “Come on, let’s get you inside,” she said, her voice soft.
You followed her into the house, the familiar warmth and cosiness welcoming you back. Leah guided you to the couch and you sank into the cushions with a sigh of relief. She sat down beside you, her hand still holding yours.
“I’m so proud of you, Leah,” you said again, looking into her eyes.
She smiled, leaning in to kiss you. “I couldn’t have done it without you,” she repeated.
You kissed her back, feeling the weight of the day melt away. “We’re a team always,” you whispered.
Leah nodded, “Always.”
As the night settled in around you, you closed your eyes, feeling the love between you and Leah. It had been a night to remember, one that you would carry with you always. And as you drifted off to sleep in Leah’s arms, you couldn’t help but feel proud of her.

she's my grump
Tumblr media
the monaco grand prix was always a whirlwind. the air crackled with champagne and exhaust fumes, celebrities swarmed the paddock, and for danny ricciardo, it was pure electric. but amidst the chaos, his gaze always landed on you, his secret weapon – literally and figuratively.
you, (y/n) (l/n), were the engineer who made his car a sleek, purring beast. you were also the complete opposite of him. where danny was sunshine personified, you were a sly smile and a dry wit, a black cat in a room full of golden retrievers. being slightly reserved whilst dating the man with the biggest smile would seem odd to others, but danny loved you in all your light.
"alright team!" danny boomed, his energy radiating as he clapped his hands. "let's make monaco ours!"
you, in redbull uniform, raised an eyebrow. "more coffee, sunshine?" you deadpanned, handing him a steaming mug.
he grinned, taking a swig. "thanks, (y/n). you're a lifesaver." he winked, then lowered his voice conspiratorially, "just remember, if we win, that victory shoey is all yours."
you snorted, a small sound that always tickled danny's heart. "just don't splash champagne on me and make sure you don't scratch the car."
he chuckled, leaning closer. "don't worry, love. i wouldn't dream of it." the last word was barely a whisper, sending a shiver down your spine. you were dating for a few months now, a secret you both fiercely guarded. it wasn't because you were ashamed, rather it was to protect both of your personal lives. you had been friends for seven years and dating for one year. all the other drivers loved you and saw you as a little sister. being the polar opposite of daniel, everyone thought you were a match made in heaven.
flashback
the cityscape of singapore twinkled below, a kaleidoscope of neon against the inky night. danny, relaxed after a podium finish, leaned against the balcony railing, a beer balanced precariously in his hand. you perched on a nearby chair, fiddling with a stray napkin. six years of friendship, countless late-night talks, and a simmering desire that threatened to boil over. tonight, you were determined to make a move.
"crazy race, right?" you started, your voice barely above a whisper. you hated how nervous you felt around him, a stark contrast to your usual sharp wit.
danny chuckled, the sound warm and inviting. "yeah, those final laps were a heart-stopper. but hey, at least i didn't get sandwiched between bottas and verstappen this time."
you managed a smile. "true. though, witnessing your car-handling skills under pressure is always a treat for the eyes." a teasing lilt crept into your voice, the one that usually made him laugh. but tonight, he just raised an eyebrow, his gaze holding yours.
"so," you continued, feeling a familiar heat creep up your cheeks, "about that victory dinner tomorrow night..."
"yeah?" he prompted, taking a swig of his beer.
"well, i was thinking, maybe we could..." you trailed off, the carefully rehearsed words dissolving on your tongue. frustration bubbled within you. why was this so hard?
"maybe we could what?" danny asked gently, his voice laced with a hint of concern.
you squeezed the napkin in your hand, the flimsy paper threatening to tear. "forget it. it's stupid."
"hey," danny said, setting his beer down and turning to face you fully. his eyes, usually sparkling with mischief, were now soft and serious. "nothing you say is stupid, (y/n)."
you looked away, overwhelmed by the intensity of his gaze. "except maybe what i was about to say."
a beat of silence stretched between you, thick with unspoken emotions. you felt a tear prick your eye, the frustration morphing into a strange mix of despair and defiance.
"look, danny," you blurted out, your voice shaky, "we've been friends for, what, six years now? we practically share a brain when it comes to the car. but lately... lately, things feel different."
he stepped closer, his presence a tangible warmth in the cool night air. "different how?"
you took a shaky breath. "i don't know how to say this. it's stupid, really. but..." you met his gaze, your voice barely audible, "i think i might be falling for you."
the words hung heavy in the air. a flicker of surprise crossed danny's face, then a slow smile spread across his lips. it was the most beautiful thing you'd ever seen.
"you think?" he said, his voice a husky whisper. he cupped your face in his hand, his thumb gently brushing away the stray tear that escaped your eye.
"maybe," you mumbled, your heart pounding a frantic rhythm against your ribs.
before you could say anything else, danny closed the gap between you. his kiss was soft, tentative at first, then deepened with a newfound urgency. it was a kiss filled with unspoken desires, a culmination of years of unspoken feelings. you melted into him, the familiar warmth of his friendship now tinged with a passionate intensity that left you breathless.
when he finally pulled away, his forehead resting against yours, you could hear the ragged rhythm of his breath.
"i think i might be falling for you too, (y/n)," he murmured, his voice husky with emotion. "a lot more than maybe."
a laugh, shaky but genuine, escaped your lips. relief washed over you, mingled with a newfound sense of joy. in the neon glow of singapore night, under the watchful gaze of a million twinkling stars, you knew this was just the beginning of something extraordinary.
end of flashback
the qualifying session was a nail-biter. you watched from the pit wall, your fingers unconsciously tapping a rhythm against the table. danny caught your eye, flashed a reassuring smile, and then was off, a blur of blue and red. when he secured pole position, the team erupted.
in the celebratory chaos, danny spotted you amidst the throng, a lone island of calm amidst the cheering. he weaved his way through the crowd, his eyes fixed on you. reaching you, he bent down slightly, a playful glint in his eyes.
"ready to celebrate, ms. genius ?" he asked, extending his hand.
you smirked, a playful jab back. "only if it involves avoiding exuberant displays of footwear."
he laughed, a sound that always warmed your heart. "no promises, love," he winked, then surprised you. his hand, instead of taking yours, brushed yours lightly, his pinky extending out and interlocking with yours.
you knew what it meant. a silent exchange in your secret language. a small gesture, easily missed by others, but to you, it was a secret handshake, a whispered affirmation in the middle of the storm. your own pinky curled around his, a silent promise. being a black cat dating the biggest golden retriever
the race was a heart-stopper. strategy calls crackled through your earpiece, fueling your anxiety. finally, the checkered flag fell, and danny emerged victorious. the roar of the crowd was deafening.
as danny jumped out of the car, his helmet still on, he scanned the crowd. his eyes met yours, and a wide grin split his face. he sprinted towards you, the cameras flashing around you. but he ignored them all, reaching you and scooping you into a tight hug.
"we did it, (y/n)!" he shouted, his voice muffled by your silky hair.
you hugged him back tightly, a surge of relief and pride washing over you. in that moment, under the watchful eyes of the oblivious crowd, you knew your secret weapon wasn't just the science behind the car. it was the sunshine-haired driver with whom you shared a silent language, a pinky promise, and a love that thrived even in the whirlwind of monaco.
the other drivers, who had long suspected something between you two, exchanged knowing glances. lewis hamilton raised a knowing eyebrow at max verstappen. "looks like ricciardo found his lucky charm," he remarked.
max just grinned. "more like his secret weapon."

“essek wants the gods dead” “oooh, this is going to change essek’s mind about the gods” i’m sorry but that boy is a cultural luxonite. he has no strong opinions on the gods other than ‘well, they sure empirically exist’. he might have some issues with his home faith (understatement) but he was still raised in an ancient battlefield literally scarred by the horrors of the calamity where the prime deities are a bunch of affectionately tolerated minority cults. his entire society thinks they transcended the need for Gods with Shapes and my man is not immune to the luxon-centric chauvinism of his upbringing.
sure, given another few years under ludinus’ thumb he could have probably been swayed to team deicide, but that’s not where’s he’s at. where he’s at is hanging out in rexxentrum, getting made fun of by caleb for referring to the dawnfather as ‘an influential, if over anthropomorphized solar deity’. you can take the elf out of rosohna but you can’t take rosohna out of the elf. the gods? well, fjord and caduceus are very fond of theirs (tone of someone describing their friends’ baffling but periodically lifesaving hobby). he technically works for one now through the cobalt soul and he can respect her ethos. after that he runs out of things to say about them.
now the luxon, on the other hand… he’s watching this entire directors cut triple-feature like a hawk. trying to divine the secrets of the universe from a reality show and it might just work.

Can I request a shy reader and Spencer's fic. When the reader works at a flower shop, Spencer comes in there looking for flowers. And the reader goes on a little rant about what he should buy and what each flower means.
Hii lovely, ty for the request! Hope this is okay🙈warnings: use of y/n, fluff, a few swear words, (0.9k)
Spencer needs to buy some flowers for Emily. It's her birthday and he's always brought her flower before, so even if he's already running late to her birthday dinner, he can't not go buy her some flowers.
He goes into the first flower shop, he spots on the way to Emily's apartment and that's where he finds you.
It's almost the closing time, so you are just sitting behind the counter, reading some book. Spencer immediately thinks he's in love.
He swears, you are the prettiest girl, he's ever seen and the fact, that you are too absorbed in your book to even notice him, makes you even more attractive to Spencer.
You finally notice him as he's a few steps away from the counter. You quickly slam the book shut and try not to look too caught off guard.
You weren't expecting anybody to come to the shop anymore and you definitely weren't expecting it to be a very handsome guy.
His messy, curly hair, expensive-looking black suit and the small stubble have you buckling at your knees. You are sure, that if you weren't sitting on the chair, you would be on the ground.
"H-hi," you somewhat compose yourself, "w-what can I help you with?"
He shoots you a smile and you're pretty sure that your cheeks go very red," Hi, I was wondering if I could get some flowers?"
"D-do you have any specific in mind?" you ask, barely holding an eye contact with him. You are shy and he isn't helping your situation at all.
"Ye-...No, I don't. Can you recommend me some?" Spencer literally knows the meaning of every flower you have in this shop, but something about you makes him shut his mouth, so he can stay here longer.
"I can, yes," you smile sheepishly at him, "who are they supposed to be for?"
"My friend, it's her birthday today," you would be lying, if you said that your heart didn't skip a beat at hearing that it's for his friend and not a girlfriend. You thought, that he was getting flowers for his girlfriend.
"W-well, I'd suggest, that you should definitely get some yellow flowers for her. Yellow color represents friendship, would that be okay?" you hesitantly ask. Spencer just nods encouragingly.
"Okay, so we could do some mixed bouquet. Yellow roses are definitely a yes, you can't go wrong with that, they are beautiful and smell amazing. We should also add sunflowers, they represent loyalty and adoration of the friendship. Oh and mums are grest, too. They can really make the bouquet come alive, they are like the spirit of optimism. We could also-," you ramble about each flower, that you put in the bouquet for him.
Spencer listens to your every word with a happy smile, you remind him of himself with your rambling and to be honest, he finds it adorable.
You are done too quickly tho and Spencer finds himself wanting to hear you speak again.
But his phone rings and he doesn't even need to pick up to know, that the team is wondering, where he is.
"Here, i-is this okay?" you hand the insanely pretty bouquet to him. Spencer's grin basically answers your question.
"Thank you, thank you. It couldn't be more perfect. You're a total lifesaver..." he looks at your name tag, "y/n. Thank you, y/n."
You are certain, that your cheeks couldn't be more red as they are right now. Spencer's compliment makes you blush like a fool.
"Oh. I'm..I'm glad, that you like it." You stutter out your response, looking at the ground. You carefully wrap the bouquet in the flower wrapping paper and tell him the price of it.
He pays it and before you can say no, he puts a bigger tip than it's normal into the tip jar.
Spencer then slowly leaves thanking you as he goes. And right before the door closes, it looks like Spencer wants to tell you something else, but in the last second he shakes his head and dissappears.
You wave him a shy goodbye, you are a little disappointed even if you don't really know why. Well okay, maybe you do know why. But you shouldn't have put your hopes up, thinking the handsome stranger felt the spark like you did. And that maybe, only maybe, he'd ask you out.
You sigh and sluggishly start to clean up the counter to finally close the shop and go home. The door bell rings again and your head immediately shoots up.
He runs up to the counter, a little out of breath, "shit, I'm sorry to bother you again. I don't usually do this, like ever, it's just....Would you like to go out with me sometimes? Like for a-a coffee? You can say no of course, hell, I'd totally understand if you said no." Spencer's now the one to rumble.
"I-I'd love to," you, surprising even yourself, reply immediately. Cheeks, of course, burning red.
"It's okay- Wait, really?" Spencer was totally expecting you to reject him.
"Yes, really....." you want to say his name.
"Spencer, my name is Spencer," he quickly understands.
"Spencer, " you try out his name," I'd love to Spencer, here." You bravely scramble your phone number on a piece of paper and give it to him.
Spencer takes it with a huge smile, "I'll call you, " he looks like he wants to stay longer, but looks at his watch and curses under his breath," I'm so late. I gotta go, but I'll call you, I promise."
"Bye, Spencer," you say sweetly and Spencer already knows he's fucked. Not even one date and he knows, he's down bad.

Hotch x reader - not so secret
Tumblr media
Hello, I hope it's not too much to ask. Could you possibly do a Hotch x BAU!reader, where they get caught (nothing spicy tho, if that makes sense) in his office by his team. - Anon💜
Slipping into the office, you closed the door quietly behind you and grinned a little as you turned around.
“Didn’t I tell you to take the day off?” Hotch asked.
“Well, yeah, but I was bored.”
Hotch hummed a little, closing the file on his desk.
“You haven’t had a proper day off in weeks.”
“Neither have you.” You countered.
Hotch chuckled a little bit, standing up and he closed the blinds, walking over to you and he brushed his knuckles along your cheek.
He leant down, pressing his lips to your forehead, and you closed your eyes.
“I’ll be fine.” He whispered.
“Just take a small break Aaron, before you overwork yourself…”
Hotch smiled softly at you, running a thumb along your cheek.
“Alright, a small break. Now show me what’s in your pockets.”
You walked over to his desk, reaching into the pockets of your jacket you pulled out a cup of coffee, setting it down, then you reached into the other pocket, pulling out another cup.
“(Y/N), darling, I love you, but I’ve told you to stop putting coffee cups in your pockets.”
“Ha, jokes on you aaron I have more.”
You unzipped your jacket, reaching into the inside pockets to pull out a bag, and Hotch walked over, looking inside of it.
“Okay, so now you’re carrying a bag of doughnuts?”
You grinned and him and Hotch placed a hand on your shoulder, turning you around and reached into your other pocket, pulling some candy bars out.
“Snacks?”
“I plan on staying so suck it up.”
He chuckled again, holding the back of your jacket so you could take it off and he hung it up with his own before walking back over.
Hotch placed his hands on your waist, and you cradled his face between your hands, letting him lean into your touch.
The moment your hands held his face he immediately relaxed, letting out a sigh of content.
“You need to take care of yourself too… I’m worried about how hard you work…” you whispered.
“I know… I know I’m sorry…”
Hotch leant down, brushing his lips against yours in the ghost of a kiss.
He wasn’t always one for initiating physical contact, sometimes he over thought, and so you leant forward to kiss him.
You moved a hand to the back of his head, playing with the hairs in the base of his neck, and he smiled into the kiss.
He pulled away only slightly.
You frowned a little bit.
“They’ll catch us out eventually..” he whispered.
You shrugged a little bit, placing your hand on the back of his head.
“I don’t care…”
This made him chuckle a little bit and lean back down to give you another kiss before he finally pulled away fully.
Hotch picked up your coffee cup, handing it to you, and picked up his own, sitting down in front of his desk.
You sat down with him, resting your head in his lap as you looked up at him, setting your coffee down in favour for holding his hand in yours instead.
You held your hand in the air, staring up at your conjoined fingers.
“So, have you thought anymore about the weekend?” He asked.
“You mean going away?”
He hummed a little, nodding his head.
“Yeah, what do you think about it? You don’t have to come with us if you don’t want to, Jack is as begging me all last night to ask you again.”
You laughed softly, resting both your hands on your stomach.
Hotch set his coffee down, bringing his other hand up to run his hand over your hair.
“I think it sounds pretty cool, I loved camping when I was a kid, my dad taught me everything I know.”
“So, does that mean you can pass your well rounded knowledge of camping down to Jack ready for his trip next month?” He grinned a little.
You laughed softly, bringing his hand up so you could kiss the back of his hand.
“Yes dear, I will pass my camping wisdom on to your son and teach him all he needs to know.”
Hotch grinned a little, leaning down and you met him halfway so you could kiss him.
“You’re a lifesaver…” he whispered.
“I’m just that great.” You beamed.
He chuckled again, leaning down to kiss you once more, and his office door was opened.
You tilted tour head back, and he looked up, you grinned a little bit while he just stared at Garcia.
“Garcia don’t do it.” He warned.
She squealed a little bit, clamping a hand over her mouth.
“Garcia?” You asked.
“I’m sorry I can’t! Oh this is so juicy!” She equaled.
“Garcia!” You both yelled.
It was too late because she was already running down the stairs and you snickered a little, resting your head back on Hotch’s lap.
He sighed, but let out a small chuckle.
“Guess times up on keeping this hidden.”
You hummed a little, sitting up and turning around to face him.
“Is it really so bad?”
“No, it isn’t. I’m happy to know that they all know, but you’re answering all the questions.”
“Is that really a wise idea Aaron?” Rossi asked.
You and Hotch stood up, turning to the faces of the grinning team who were blocking the exit.
“You’re both going to answer all our questions.” Derek smirked.
“Interrogation time you two, sit.” Emily said.
You and Hotch sat down at his desk, you in his chair while he sat on the desk in front of you.
You knew they weren’t going until you two had answered all their questions, you were both going to be there for a while

This is the house from HGTVs "The Barbie Dreamhouse Challenge," but as soon as the show wrapped they changed it. “The investors thought it would have higher resale value being a modern, beautiful, newly renovated home,” said the real estate agent, “They obviously weren’t going for the serious Barbie fans.” I'm a Barbie collector and there are lots of us. Someone would've bought it. Here are the befores and afters.
Tumblr media
This is what it looks like now, and priced at $2,049,995 it just sold for $1.845M. I am so disappointed. Built in 1997, the 5bd, 5ba home is located in Canyon Country, California. HGTV looked at about 50 houses and finally bought this one for $1.750M. Each designer star team did a room and the team of  Mika and Brian Kleinschmidt of “100 Day Dream Home” won. When I was looking for before pics, a lot of the sites were no longer available- they didn't want us Barbie people to see the befores, I bet.

The family room before. I don't really care for the retro look.
Tumblr media
Family room after. But, I don't like this white, either.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In the living room, the major features that the designers installed remain, like the two-story fireplace and the updated circular staircase. Everything else was changed to neutral gray, black & white.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The dining room. Man, they must've used an awful lot of white paint to cover up the deep colors.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The ’50s kitchen was stripped of the pastels and replaced with neutrals, but the retro Big Chill appliances—refrigerator, oven, dishwasher, stove, even the hood—are still in place, b/c they're very expensive. And, the pop-up appliance lifts on the island are still in place, too.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ken's den wasn't changed much b/c it was cool, but they did remove the disco floor. Allison Victoria & Ty Pennington dancing on the disco floor.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Looks like they turned the walk-in closet/dressing room into an office.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It already had an office, so now it has two. Wow, they left the striped ceiling intact.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The new dull bedroom.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And, home gym.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The realtor wanted to buy the big brush on the wall, but was told that all the props had to go back to Mattel Toys.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And, finally, the pool. Mika and Brian Kleinschmidt won for their design on the pool and yard. Well, I see they kept the pink spiral stairs, yellow lifesaver and umbrella.
Tumblr media
The dog elevator went back to Mattel, too.

"A first-of-its-kind report has discovered that altering the ingredients list or manufacturing methods of widely used medication can really cut back on carbon emissions.
They found a reduction of 26 million tons, enough to cancel out the whole carbon footprint of the city of Geneva for a decade. Best of all, it’s already happening, and in fact, is almost done—those emissions were already saved.
The lifesaving HIV treatment dolutegravir (DTG) is used by 24 million people worldwide.
Today, over 110 low and middle-income countries have adopted DTG as the preferred treatment option. Rapid voluntary licensing of the medicine, including its pediatric version, to over a dozen generic manufacturers, significantly drove down prices, and it’s estimated that 1.1 million lives will be saved from HIV/AIDS-related deaths by 2027.
Its predecessor, efavirenz, contained 1200 milligrams of active ingredient across the three active compounds present, while DTG contains 650 milligrams of just one compound. This small difference—literally measurable in single digits of paper clips by weight—was enough to change the carbon emissions footprint of the medication by a factor of 2.6.
The incredible discovery was made in a recent report by Unitaid, a global public-private partnership that invests in new health products and solutions for low and middle-income countries, called Milligrams to Megatons, and is the first published research to compare carbon footprints between commonly used medications.
“This magnitude of carbon footprint reduction surpasses many hard-won achievements of climate mitigation in health and other sectors,” the authors of the report write.
At the rate at which DTG is produced, since it entered into production and treatment regime in 2017, 2.6 million fewer tons of CO2 have entered the atmosphere every year than if efavirenz was still the standard treatment option.
Health Policy Watch reports that the global medical sector’s carbon emissions stand at roughly 5% of the global carbon emissions and are larger than the emissions of many big countries, and 2.5 times as much as aviation.
“This report demonstrates that we can achieve significant health improvements while also making strides in reducing carbon emissions. By adopting innovative practices and prioritizing sustainability, we can ensure that medicines like DTG are not only effective but also environmentally responsible,” Vincent Bretin, Director of Unitaid’s Results and Climate Team told Health Policy Watch."
