going insane thinking about the harrow and palamedes friendship. harrow, who has never met another necromancer her age forming a bizarro 3D chess rivalry while pal worries about her safety at every possible turn. harrow, who is up to her eyebrows in paranoia and secrecy, trusting the sixth house with gideon unconscious and hurt, letting them into the ninth house quarters unsupervised. if “i cannot conceive of a universe without you in it” is goth for i love you, “death first to vultures and scavengers” has got to be goth for i love you (platonic). pal’s first reaction when harrow comes into his bubble in the river is to scoop her up in a hug, and at this point she doesn’t remember anything about him because cutting out all her memories of gideon is impossible without cutting out memories of the sixth, but she still makes him a skelehand to inhabit anyway. when harrow’s memories are finally whole, she tells dulcinea she couldn’t face pal knowing that his pen pal girlfriend died on her account, but the next time she “faces” him, palamades’s soul is in someone else’s body and harrow’s body is full of nona’s soul. he spends six months protecting and caring for harrow’s body (and nona obv), believing in the possibility of bringing her back to it the same way cam believed in him. “god, do you know i miss harrow terribly.” and by the time harrow comes back to her body at the very end of ntn, pal is gone forever, fully pauled. the last time harrow and palamades see each other as their complete selves is in canaan house, alive and unlyctored. two of the smartest and loneliest people in the solar system meet each other in the worst of circumstances and spend the rest of the story dancing around each other as fragments of themselves, trying to care about each other in the interim but never fully meeting like they did the first time. a friendship made almost entirely of missing the other person. “do you know i miss harrow terribly.” god. i need to lie down

hate to say it, but part of ending the stigma around sexual assault means not assuming every woman blames herself. yes, female socialization encourages it, but that doesn’t make it a given, and the goal of all of these campaigns is to eventually diminish the proportion of women who do blame themselves. it is entirely possible, and increasingly common, for women to experience sexual assault and not feel shame or guilt, which we should be happy about. but instead, there are only so many times you can hear “you know it’s not your fault, right?” before it sounds like “it was your fault”. and there’s only so many times you can hear “don’t blame yourself” before it sounds like “you should blame yourself”. because it feels good to say, doesn’t it? sure, you don’t believe she’s guilty, but you do believe she should feel guilty, so that you can disabuse her of the notion. just something to consider.

the thing is, we could see and feel that Tommy is different from Buck’s previous girlfriends. There are scenes that makes you go “hmmm I don’t remember this ever happening with Buck’s partner”. Like the “he has a cleft” and the “I can’t stop thinking about him” scenes and Buck calling him after their failed first date and the whole showing-up-for-Buck-right-after-his-shift.

but it’s one thing is to watch and interpret scenes (because you could always say “maybe I’m delusional, maybe I’m not remembering things right, maybe it’s not a big deal”) and it’s another thing is to have BOBBY FUCKING NASH (The 118 Captain and Buck’s Canon Dad) spell it out for you.

Bobby using his last goodbye to Buck to tell him (canonically, in the show, for every viewer to hear) that Tommy’s good people and Tommy’s good for Buck is insane. It makes it undeniable.

We had a “feeling” but objectively we haven’t had enough scenes to be sure Tommy is good for Buck but we know Tommy’s good for Buck because Bobby told us. How do you argue with Bobby Nash.

We don’t know Buck personally and a lot of Bucktommy happened offscreen but Bobby knows Buck personally and Bobby is a character offscreen and he still thinks Tommy’s good for Buck. Like, my (tumblr user n.3747383637) reading of bucktommy is worthless but Bobby’s reading of bucktommy? It’s worth everything.

Chilchuck analysis speedrun: As a hardworking half-foot who grew up poor and discriminated against and had his gullibility taken advantage of multiple times in his early adventuring days, Chilchuck thinks optimism is a dangerous flaw. He’s stressed and strict all the time because his job is noticing details like traps that could get everyone killed before anyone knows it, he takes the lives of everyone to be on his shoulders, and with the way he speaks about it that probably partly reflects how he felt about taking it upon himself to provide for his family too. His life’s always been pretty centered around work and has become even moreso now that his wife left and everyone is independent, and due to past events he’s very iffy with bonding with coworkers. He thinks feelings and job are a disaster mix. Like with his wife or with parties hiring him as sacrifice, being open or having good faith is vulnerability which can get you hurt, so he processes and shows all his stress as anger instead of worry. Doing strict dieting probably isn’t helping the irritability what with hunger, and on top of being a hunger suppressant alcohol might be the main stress reliever he has.

In light of Em's death, I wanna point out how long its been since we lost an egg life. Not just permadeath. Just a life.

In the first month of the eggs, we lost almost half of them (Tilin (Day 23), Trumpet (Day 23), Juanaflippa (Day 24)) and Chayanne, Ramon, Leo, and Richas all lost a life (Day 13, Day 15, Day 36, Day 42).

Then in May, Tallulah, Dapper, and Bobby all lost a life (Day 55, Day 56, Day 57) and Bobby was the last permadeath we experienced.

Now Em lost a life on Day 293.

Day 293.

In 236 fucking days, no eggs lost a life.

We went from 3 eggs dying and 4 of them losing a life in the first month to one egg dying in 236 days.

These eggs went from being a competition experiment to being the reason why the islanders want to be better and strong.

No matter what, love is the strongest thing and it shows with the QSMP
