When you get a comment on your elven war au saying that a character would not attack their own people to protect the people they are currently with like...do you not know how war works?  Sacrifices have to be made and sometimes a peaceful, non-violent method will not work.  Yes, I know that a prince would not want to attack his own people but he also knows that he cannot keep his hands clean if he wants to try and protect these people he’s grown to care about.  War is ugly and sometimes it makes people do things they don’t want to do

Why is Jiang YueLou the "Killer"?
Do you think that Chen YuZhi's death is the full consequence of Jiang YueLou's initial attempt to half-kill him? That the embodiment of his pride-turned-pain and vice versa is how he could not save the people that he loved? That he cherished? That gave him meaning? That saved his life?
That the essence of Jiang YueLou as the "killer" isn't just because of the blood on his hands, but because he was never able to save the people that mattered to him?
His trusted subtordinates, who both died in battle alongside him. Sun YongRen. Song Rong.
The figure and mentor that took him in which became his family after he lost his first one. Bai JinBo.
His mother whom he grieved before, during, and after their reunion. Jiang ShenNan.
Chen YuZhi.
Perhaps it really was his strong sense of justice that pulled him to do it... maybe it is his first priority to take the odds with the only chance he had. His bureaucratic ideals were something long planned after all. But.
Do you think that for what he did to Chen YuZhi, specifically, Jiang YueLou was given karma for not preparing or warning the other beforehand? That he only had to believe that the other would be okay fully knowing in his field of work, it would almost always end otherwise? That YueLou's recklessness was a risk he was willing to make that took YuZhi's warm and careful humanness for granted?
That YueLou took YuZhi for granted, because the latter was the "healer" who was supposedly going to be fine until the very end, until he was not?
I think that at the finale of it all, YueLou was tired. He could not save his friends and family. Not even the person that faithfully remained with him throughout everything which occurred and helped him achieve his glory. Maybe YueLou knew that there was nothing else that could heal YuZhi. So he laid there, beside the love of his life, and stayed.
Because if Jiang YueLou could not save Chen YuZhi, he would at least stay with him and not take him for granted one last time.
*
additional: i think it would be a great thing to note how keying was alive. all this time. (interesting writing tbh) so chen keying basically gave his life, as the healer, and did manage to save the people around him. the people that meant most to him.
yes, chu ran died. that's a whole other thing and her own distinct person and arc. but. i'd like to emphasize that i think chu ran is one of yuzhi's greatest friends. therefore, he managed to save the two just right above that friendship. chen keying. jiang yuelou. his family.
(i wrote this mid-brainrot at almost sunrise after finishing the series lmao anw i still hate the ending, make the girls and gays happy tsk) (anw i'd like to hear ur thoughts!)

Okay, okay, OKAY. So I’m rewatching Killer and Healer right now, and I just had a marvelous realization: in episode 5, we get a scene where Chu Ran is reading “Pride and Prejudice” by Jane Austen:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Later on in the same episode, Jiang Yuelou, out of guilt or maybe because of something else as well, gifts the clinic to Chen Yuzhi:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He even makes him the goddamn sign.
Okay, so where am I going with this? Well, in “Pride and Prejudice”, Mr. Darcy wrongs Elizabeth by insulting both her and her family, as well as breaking her sister Jane’s heart by taking Mr. Bingley away. In Killer and Healer, Yuelou feels that he has wronged Yuzhi, for guilt for his sister. Mr Darcy redeems himself by helping first Elizabeth’s younger sister Lydia. It is also hinted that he was involved with the reunion between Jane and Mr. Bingley. Jiang Yuelou, as mentioned earlier, helps Chen Yuzhi get his own clinic.
Lastly, and this is important, neither Mr. Darcy not Jiang Yuelou wants to be found out. Mr. Darcy doesn’t want Elizabeth to know that he’s the one that helped her sister: he asks people to specifically not tell her. Jiang Yuelou does something similar: he doesn’t want Yuzhi to know that he helped him get the clinic. He asks Yu Tangchun to pose as the “benefactor” instead.
The parallel is striking: Mr. Darcy and Yuelou are both doing this not because they wish to show off or because they want to be perceived as good by Elizabeth/Yuzhi. They just want to help them because they care for them .
Like, please tell me I’m not reading into this too much, because it would actually be insane if the writers wrote such a parallel without even realizing it.

@evcryopeneye liked for a starter!
This town was a new start for Chen Yuzhi for him and his family, it was a transfer dealing with their careers being the reason why they were here. He had gotten himself involved in the medical field working as a doctor for the sake of helping people. His husband, Jiang Yuelou had transferred to fill in the the empty position as the police chief that was desperately needed at the station who had requested him. They were on agreement to move here after discussing things with his younger sister to make sure that this would be something Keying would be okay with.
It was the reason why Yuzhi was now apart of this new hospital who seemed grateful that he was here because of the experience he had. Experience which hopefully was going to help with what cases decided to make an appearance through that door. He knew that he would get the hang of things eventually especially after working with the new co-workers, people that the young doctor would get to know over time. He didn’t know what the first day was going to hold for him, he would just have to wait and see.
The small family of three was going to have a busy day ahead of them though, Yuelou and him would have their focus on the job that waited. Keying would be busy dealing with her new school and Xiao Bai most likely would just be longing around the house in nothing, but contentment. The cat did have a favorite place to lay which normally caused him to occupy the couch with the pillow that he claimed as his.
Yuzhi was soon occupying the desk that had been shown to him while working on getting settled in to his surroundings. He was looking forward to this new start though even if he was nervous, nerves that would go away eventually once he adjusted to this new hospital.

thinking about how chen yuzhi answered his own question.
he poses early on hypothetically: "if not friends, what else can we be?"
and then, moments before he believes he would die, as if giving himself a response, he recites a poem with heavy romance notions: "i hate that i'm not like the moon high up the pavilion on the river, only stay with you"

Killer and Healer |
After you came into my life, I never felt the same.
Your artlessness, your tender voice wandering with me aimlessly.
You smile and gently embrace my barren heart, believing I am your entire world.
Your finger gently touch my scars.
However in the end, I still can’t be with you
gazing at the starry night, collecting stardust with our eyes.
check the song here, originally sung by Zhou Shen

'tired' ? for your challenge :P
a.n. anon u... u reel me into a very dangerous thought okay. for the first 3 minutes, congratulation. but not after that. not toDAY SATAN!!1!1!1!!1
also. this is unexpectedly LONG. SO. LONG.
jiang yuelou sighs in annoyance after hanging up zhan junbai's phone call, telling him that his men failed to track down hong kong's emerging opium dealer that currently supplies jing city with an unidentified type of poppy. the whole police bureau is on fire due to this discovery.
"all i could confirm is that they indeed sell a new type of opium, presumably from india. but we failed to extract any information about the leader, let alone catching them. they were enforced by british authorities and my men suddenly were outnumbered," says junbai dimly from the other side of the line, clearly not liking the unpredicted variable in their perfectly planned undercover.
the executive offers an apology, which yuelou dismisses in a second 'cause executive zhan, regardless this one very failure, is still the best external alliance ever. the most reliable source, partner, and friend. yuelou can't ask for a better connection than zhan junbai.
but that doesn't change the current result. coming with that are mayor cai's aggravation and bai jinbo's wrath. song rong and sun yongren can only dip their head down watching the commissioner throw those paper in their boss' face, saying how incompetent yuelou is.
("well, let's see if commissioner bai can capture them by himself!" sun yongren says quietly, aggressively biting a baozi in his head 'cause it's pass dinner already.)
so, having a bad day is an understatement. it's beyond bad, it's bad bad. jiang yuelou is not someone who accepts defeat easily, he never wants to be one step behind. when he's one step behind, he must be in the chasing mode—he must be the one controlling the lane, the illusion of safety margin that manipulates the target's decision, the pace of their game. but today, someone else's successfully taking over him without his permission, dragging him around like a lifeless ragdoll.
thinking about him getting controlled by an unknown party burns him, anger boils in his vein—violence at the tip of his fingers, ready to transfer his rage to anything and anyone without mercy. upon seeing jiang yuelou disappear into his room, song rong and sun yongren immediately rush to every corridor that yuelou will have to walk through to exit the building, telling everyone not to initiate any conversation if their boss pass them by to avoid making the bureau a blood painted crime scene.
"don't- don't talk to chief jiang when he walks out, understand?!" sun yongren repeats the same information to some rookies coming in for their night shift before running to other corridor. the young officers, still with their idealism and lack of experience, take it with a grain of salt.
next thing they know is they freeze under the wall-mounted lamp as jiang yuelou grimly walks down the corridor. noone says anything to him, not even looking up from the carpeted tiles after they nod to salute him. his subordinates immediately clear out of his way, bumping their shoulders into the wall to avoid bumping into the walking wrath instead.
the said chief passes by the rookies too, giving them a side-eye, and they feel like they just get caressed by death. the yellow lights from the filament lamp falls on his pale white face, clenched jawline, and riled expression every two meter, making his appearance more hair-rising due to scanty lighting and blank spots. in addition, winter wind is particularly strong this week, easily slipping inside from the gap between the window frame and the stone surface. the corridor, dimly lit and gravely chilling, feels like a gate to the underworld and yán wáng is coming to take them personally, for a good minute.
the chief keeps striding without diverting his attention anymore, eyes fixed forward to shove everyone aside. he only has one destination set in his mind now and before he gets to it, his revolver will aim towards whoever gets in his way and extricate them his way, which usually is... freestyle.
when yuelou arrives in front of yuzhi’s front gate, he can’t help the bubbling anger overflowing his already small pot. the wooden doors are closed, tight, locked, yelling at him “no chen yuzhi today.” noone in this world would understand the immense effect this sentence can do to jiang yuelou who has grown a co-dependency with the doctor. today is marked as yuelou’s worst setback in life.
the chief exhales loudly, admitting his defeat to the universe, and makes his way towards his house with heavy shoulders. the rage and anger he wanted to lash out recklessly towards chen yuzhi douses entirely by the fact that the doctor’s not home to listen to him vent. thank goodness the snowfall is not heavy today unless he’d bury himself under the thick snow in one of jing city’s darkest alley. it’s sad that he is alone in this big, big world today. dramatic, but valid.
just when he’s about to open the gate to his house, he sees they are already unlocked. jiang yuelou never forgets unlocking his own house. facing unforeseen danger on daily basis, yuelou immediately slips his hand into his jacket and pulls out the revolver from its holster. he opens the wooden gate slowly, trying not to make even a creak from the rusty hinge and accidentally announce his appearance instead.
slowly but steadily, the gap widens and he steps inside with his arms are stretched out, his revolver is ready for some quick shooting. but he is welcomed with his brightly lit house in lieu of a group of opium dealers whose lives he ruined in the past. his eyes widen in disbelief upon seeing steam rising from freshly cooked foods on his dining table. yuelou freezes from his place, his arms gradually lowering themselves as well as his self defense.
soon, a man dressed in a warm ivory white knitted turtleneck appears with two plates of dish in his hand coming out from his kitchen and setting them on the table with other dishes. his hair, as usual, combed neatly—unlike yuelou’s hasty finger-combing technique. he is wearing yuelou’s slipper, the one he left behind in his living room when he was off to work. the moment the said man looks up and meets him in the eyes, a smile blossoms on his face, so beautiful yuelou can feel his heart wrenches from the mere sight.
"yuelou? you're home."
this is the view he's always dreaming of for God knows how long but never dares to tell. to come home to chen yuzhi dressed in a warm clothes, smiling under the bright light of jiang residence and welcoming him with a tight hug. and if he tells him he misses him into his ear, yuelou will pepper him with kisses all over his face, free of charge for undeterminable time, until yuzhi is tired from giggling and trying to escape from his iron grip. until he puts his palm over yuelou's lips as the last attempt to prevent him from attacking his face again and smile playfully at yuelou's temporary defeat. until the glint in his gleaming doe eyes changes into something like want, something that sounds like a request to kiss him properly if yuelou has some energy left to be wasted.
and jiang yuelou will not ask twice if he catches yuzhi's eyes flicker to his lips just once and goes back to meet his eyes. because yuzhi will see him doing the same thing too and he will understand that both of them want it.
jiang yuelou slams the wooden gate close, storming towards chen yuzhi whose eyes widen at his explosive reaction. impulsivity has neither been a best friend nor a rival, in yuelou’s case, but he learns to run for what his heart longs the most. and this is the first time his body really runs for what his heart wants. his heart wants comfort.
the chief throws away his revolver once he is inside his house and immediately reaches out for the doctor. one of his arm pulls yuzhi closer to his body as tight as he could while the other one is fixated on yuzhi's jawline, gently tilting it to a better angle ‘cause,
fuck this.
"yue-"
chen yuzhi never finishes his name as yuelou closes their gap and captures his upper lip, his teeth painfully clashing against yuelou as the latter miscalculates his strength. but yuelou doesn’t stop to apologize like every time he accidentally hurt him, instead crowding him against the dining table and kissing the light out of him as if the last time he had a meal was a thousand years ago.
yuzhi is confused, very confused. this is not their first kiss, but this is the first kiss that yuelou does so overly rough, messy, and raw, like a mass mayhem in a week long blackout. he knows yuelou tends to be stormy when his trauma is triggered or his mission falls by the wayside but he never lets this kind of weather affects his behavior and treatment towards chen yuzhi. after the doctor treats him routinely and he gradually gets better at controlling his emotion.
understanding and patiently waiting are yuzhi’s best weapons to pacify yuelou, returning him back to the ground until both of his feet firmly embed to the soil. he only needs to mold it into a form of physical affection without trying to change his pace. something that jiang yuelou will perceive as an act of submission. only this way, yuelou can and will melt. he is not a man who can be persuaded by asserting one’s power on him, and coercion is never chen yuzhi’s forte anyways.
the doctor gently squeezes yuelou’s shoulder once where he places his hands before and moves to hook them around his neck. he buries his right hand in his black hair, his fingers are warm and heavy against the skin of yuelou’s head. his thumb is rubbing a small circle on his back head tenderly, like a mantra he does it over and over again until jiang yuelou comes back to his sense.
that’s when yuelou’s grip on his waist loosens little by little, his turbulent kissing reduces to a slower and intimate one—the one that always trips chen yuzhi and makes him fall deeper for the other man and his enigma. soft moan slips out of his lips only to get muffled by yuelou’s inadvertent growl.
they gasp for air eventually but never leaving their hands from each other’s body, not quite ready to let go. in between their huff and puff, yuelou steals a soft kiss on yuzhi’s cheekbone.
“i’m sorry, love. i was–” yuelou hesitantly looks up, straight into yuzhi’s eyes. the decision is a bad move, probably the only bad move that yuelou has ever made ‘cause the emotion in yuzhi’s eyes, they remain calm and considerate, far from judgmental nor do they spiteful. his lips are bruised as hell but his eyes, they never stop glistening with benevolence and never-ending patience towards his lover.
jiang yuelou can’t stand the guilt rising in the depth of his heart after seeing them. they are together, chen yuzhi chooses to be with him not to be his outlet of rage. the image of his defenseless late mother flashes in yuzhi’s face and he instantly regrets whatever he forced yuzhi into earlier. even if it’s just a kiss, something he did daily, routinely, sneakily, wholeheartedly, nothing really abusive and malignant about it but yuzhi might be hurt today. and if yuelou hurts him, he is breaking his own rule written on the very top of the list.
“yuzhi, i’m sorry i–” chen yuzhi slides his hands, cupping the older man’s face that looks like a 13 year old boy now under the weight of his guilt. smiling ever so fondly, he says, “you are tired, love.”
words stuck in yuelou’s throat for the third time upon seeing yuzhi’s eyes that have perfectly sensed his weary and withheld agitation. it’s his red light, then. it’s time for him to let yuzhi take control of the situation and do his part of the day. to do what he is the best at that yuelou is the worst at. any other matters can wait until yuzhi deems him to be fully loaded with ammo and health again.
jiang yuelou leans forward into chen yuzhi’s body, resting his feverish forehead on the crook of his lover’s neck, seeking comfort and humanly touch. yuzhi can’t help smiling at yuelou’s clinginess—he never says it but he absolutely loves it. love the idea to take care of the most troublesome chief officer in the whole jing city. love the way his toned muscles and tensed neck relax under his lithe fingers as he bathes him in a bathtub.
“let me prepare hot water for your bath.”
“will you wash my hair too?”
“hm.”
“what else will you wash?”
chen yuzhi presses a kiss on yuelou’s cheek, whispering “make a wish” before walking towards the kitchen, and disappear behind the white wall.

two silhouettes, but not one is me
This is just a little contribution to the Killer and Healer fandom - a draft of a fanfic I wanted to work on. Will try to continue this. This is an AU where everyone lives, because I said so, and it's mostly in Chu Ran's POV as she tries to confess to Jiang Yuelou but he's completely smitten by a certain oblivious doctor.   I appreciate any feedback!
Chu Ran could hear Jiang Yuelou’s knee tapping incessantly under the table. He didn’t seem to be aware of it as his gaze kept looking over to the entrance. He seemed to be nervous or agitated about something, but was trying to appear nonchalant.
She took another sip of her tea, the warmth of the liquid a nice sensation against the chilly air. Although they had gone through their routine small talk in the beginning, it was clear that Jiang Yuelou was impatient for the arrival of their friend. Now, it was a mostly comfortable silence that had fallen between them.
When their busy schedules allowed for it, all three of them - Chu Ran, Jiang Yuelou and Chen Yuzhi - would meet for a meal and catch up with each other. It was hard when they all had demanding careers, but these moments were worth it. For just a few hours in the week they were able to slow down and enjoy each other’s company. Their first meeting was under turbulent times - but now that they had settled, it was a blessing to be able to spend time together without having to look over their shoulders for enemies.
Chu Ran wasn’t sure what was making Jiang Yuelou so anxious. Chen Yuzhi had called them both to say he was running behind in his appointments and to start without him. Normally that would mean she got to spend some extra alone time with her favorite detective but his demeanor seemed off today.
She took a chance.
“Is there a difficult case right now?”
Slightly startled, Jiang Yuelou turned back to face her. “Oh...no...not really. Just the regular stuff - petty crimes and fights. Nothing like before.”
“Ah I see. So what’s got you so restless?”
Jiang Yuelou finally seemed to notice his own behaviour and he let out a chuckle. “Am I that obvious?”
“Only to me.” Chu Ran smiled shyly.
He sighed and his leg stopped tapping on the ground. “Sorry - I haven’t seen you guys in a while and I’m just happy to be together again. Chen Yuzhi isn’t normally so late so I hope he’s okay.”
If anyone were to run into trouble it was Chen Yuzhi. Chu Ran could understand his concern for their friend. But, selfishly, she didn’t mind him being late - it gave her some extra time with Jiang Yuelou. Usually it was easy to hide her crush on him, there was never any time before to think about a relationship before. But now that things were returning to a sense of normalcy, she had wanted to breach the topic with him.
“I’m sure some sweet old lady has just been taking his attention. You know how he is with his patients - he’ll listen to everything they want to say to him. It doesn’t help that he has such a handsome face.” Chu Ran smiled at the thought, although Jiang Yuelou gave her a long glance, as if trying to read something from her expression.
Eventually he smiled as well, a small sweet smile that made her heart skip a beat. “Yeah, he’s very easy to talk to.”
After a moment of shared silence, she slowly built up her courage and said, “So...while we wait for Chen Yuzhi to arrive, there was something I wanted to talk to you about.”
Curiously Jiang Yuelou raised an eyebrow and nodded for her to continue.
With his full attention on her, Chu Ran felt herself becoming slightly shy. Deep breath. “I -”
“Jiang Yuelou! Chu Ran! Sorry I’m late!”
The moment was broken by the arrival of the doctor. Jiang Yuelou immediately got up to welcome their friend, his face splitting into a wide grin. Chu Ran took a moment to compose herself while they hugged in greeting.
She smiled when Chen Yuzhi turned to face her, bowing in greeting. Even though there was a little resentment at the interruption, she could never really be mad with him. He was too sweet.
“I was with Wang Meng and his mother just now. They stopped by to check for a health check and then we got to catching up - I lost track of time.” Chen Yuzhi said, explaining his tardiness, as he took a seat between them.
Chu Ran nodded, looking to Jiang Yuelou to say, see? I told you. But his expression was not what she was expecting - his brow was furrowed, looking displeased.
“Wang Meng was with you?” Jiang Yuelou asked, trying to sound nonchalant. Chu Ran could see the way his fists clenched on his lap.
Chen Yuzhi didn’t seem to notice the slightly tense undercurrent of that question. “Yes - you remember him right? He’s really come around since he left the opium trade. He’s spending more time with his mother and she’s so happy to have her son with her again.”
“Right. I see.” Jiang Yuelou nodded. Chu Ran could see that he still had reservations though. She could understand his concern, it seemed a little suspect that an ex-gang member was keeping in contact with Chen Yuzhi. But she didn’t think Wang Meng posed any kind of threat to the doctor now - especially since he was treating his mother.
“I’ll call the waitress over to order dinner - I’m sure you’re hungry after a long day.” Chu Ran said, trying to make eye contact with a waitress at the end of the patio.
“Sounds great!” Chen Yuzhi smiled, rubbing his hands together in excitement to eat.
Jiang Yuelou took the subject change and dropped his shoulders, looking more relaxed. Whatever questions he had were put aside in favour of enjoying their limited time together.
Dinner went by quickly as they all talked and joked and clinked glasses in a toast to good times. It was rare to see Jiang Yuelou so relaxed and Chu Ran was happy to enjoy the moment. Since she didn’t have a lot of time during the week to see him, she treasured the easy smiles that he shared with her. She hoped they could find another time to talk - her heart was already pounding in anticipation to see him again as their night was winding down.
“Gosh, as much as I enjoyed seeing you both, I need to go home to Keying. She’s probably waiting for me to get home to tuck her in.” Chen Yuzhi said with a smile, his cheeks slightly flushed from the wine.
He rose from his seat, reaching for his wallet to pay for the meal. Before he could fish out his money, Jiang Yuelou quickly stood up as well, the chair making a loud sound at the sudden movement, and placed his hand on Chen Yuzhi’s to stop him from taking out the money.
“Don’t worry I got it.” Jiang Yuelou said, pulling out his own wallet with his other hand.
“Oh no I couldn’t possibly make you pay this time -” Chen Yuzhi started to say.
“Nonsense!” Jiang Yuelou interrupted, “I got a bonus at work - trust me I want to treat you.”
For a moment Chen Yuzhi looked like he was going to argue, but at Jiang Yuelou’s earnest expression he surrendered and put back his wallet. He nodded as Jiang Yuelou finally took back his hand and went to find the waitress to pay.
Chu Ran and Chen Yuzhi both rose and walked towards the exit, waiting for Jiang Yuelou to join them.
She hoped Jiang Yuelou would offer to walk her home - she didn’t live far, but she would appreciate his company. She was planning how to bring it up when he finally joined them at the door.
“I called you a taxi Chu Ran, it should arrive any moment.” Jiang Yuelou said.
She tried not to let the disappointment show on her face. He was trying to be a gentleman but she still wished he wouldn’t be so generous sometimes - just so she could have a chance to ask him to walk her home.
At his smile, she nodded.
“I’ll walk home with you Chen Yuzhi - maybe I could say hi to Keying? I haven’t seen her in a while either.”
Chen Yuzhi nodded, “Of course. She’s been asking for her uncle Jiang.”
Jiang Yuelou grinned, bouncing lightly on his feet as they waited for the taxi to pick up Chu Ran.
As the taxi drove off, Chu Ran turned back to her two friends walking closely together in the opposite direction. Their silhouettes getting smaller and smaller as she drove further away.

Not far ahead, A man in a rickshaw driver's clothes raised his eyes slightly The line turned out to be Zhan Junbai who escaped from the dead. Zhan Junbai raised his gaze and looked at it with hatred. From a subjective perspective, Jiang Yuelou and Chen Yuzhi are getting closer Up. Jiang Yuelou and Chen Yuzhi didn't realize it was coming Danger, chatting. Jiang Yuelou: It’s been a long time since I rode a horse. This weekend, Go for horse racing? Chen Yuzhixiao: This time, I will definitely beat you. Jiang Yuelou is full of confidence: give it a try. While they were talking, the two had already arrived in front of Zhan Junbai. Zhan Junbai suddenly held a gun and shot at Jiangyuelou. He It is the one that was given to Yutangchun and then returned The gun in his own hand. Chen Yuzhi didn't hesitate to rush to block Jiangyue Tower In front of him, the bullet shot into Chen Yuzhi's heart. Jiangyuelou Want to block the future. Jiang Yuelou's unbelievable look, hold it fast with one hand Chen Yuzhi, who was about to fall, drew his spear without hesitation and charged Zhuan Junbai shot. The people scattered and fled. Jiang Yuelou and Chen Yuzhi looked at each other, Chen Yuzhibai Mixed feelings. Chen Yuzhi: Where is he buried? Zhan Junbai; Chengdong. Xinglinli. Chen Yuzhi remembered Yutangchun telling that he liked it before he was alive Xinglin in the east of the city, I want to survive the spring and be buried in Xinglin One scene. Zhan Junbai; help me, okay... Chen Yuzhi shook his head: He was tortured because of you during his lifetime. After death, I definitely don’t want to have anything with you Ge. The only pleading look in Zhan Junbai's life; please You... Dr. Chen, please... Chen Yuzhi did not hesitate, turned and walked towards Jiang Yue floor. Chen Yuzhi raised his head and looked at Jiang Yuelou, making a cunning point Laughter: Everything else is easy to say, there is only one thing, I'm afraid it is It's not easy to buy. Jiang Yuelou: What is it? Come and listen. Chen Yuzhi: The original Yuzhitang plaque is pretty good Yes, it's a pity that I forgot to bring it when I moved. Jiang Yuelou: This is easy to handle, I will solve it. Chen Yuzhi laughed: What, the engraver of Yuelou, once Is it ripe for the second time? Jiang Yuelou froze for a while, reacted, you all know Up? Chen Yuzhi: Yes. Jiang Yuelou: When did it happen? Smile of Chen Yu: Secret. Jiang Yuelou raised her eyebrows: Secret? Then don't blame me Up. Jiang Yuelou said, got up, went to the hut and dragged out A plaque, carefully wrapped in cloth, Jiangyue Tower Raise your hand, the cloth flutters, revealing Yu Zhitang below Plaque. Chen Yuzhi laughed blankly. Jiang Yuelou smiled proudly. In the distance, the setting sun, crimson and yellow cross Jiang Yuelou stared into the distance, feeling: Yu Zhi, the sun It's down. Chen Yuzhi raised his eyes and looked along the Jiangyue Tower Go, the dusk is bleak. Jiang Yuelou and Chen Yuzhi stared at each other, tacitly agreeing Laugh, all affectionate, all affection, everything is silent in. The silhouette in the sunset gradually merged. --End of the whole play- Extraordinary ending Green poplar smoke is light outside, red apricot branches spring Noisy. In the Xinglin in the east of the city, one is well repaired But there is no tomb with a stele. In front of the tombstone, put some fresh Bouquets and memorial supplies. The camera pulls up, from the feet up, Jiang Yuelou and Chen Yu 之入画. The two stood side by side in front of the tombstone, looking at jade Tang Chun's tomb is silently missed. Flashback, the scene before Zhan Junbai died. Chen Yuzhi: Where is he buried? Zhan Junbai; Chengdong. Xinglin Li.. Keke (kee Blood). I didn’t engrave the stele, in case someone knows the body Fortunately, he was troubled by me, and he couldn't be peaceful after death. The flashback is over. Jiang Yuelou comfortably embraced Chen Yuzhi and rubbed twice Lower the neck; if you really promise to help him be buried together, That's what insulted boss Yu. Now it's good Up. Jiang Yuelou said, let go of Chen Yuzhi, and looked back The cliff not far away. On the cliff, there is no one Lonely grave with lettering. Because of the terrain, the lone tomb can be In order to see the Xinglin and Yutangchun tombs under the mountain, and The lone tomb is always in the back of Yutangchun's tomb, no Will get a glimmer of light. Chen Yuzhi looked back, feeling complicated, sighing sound. Jiang Yuelou; gone, let's go home for the rest. The setting sun stained the branches and willows of Xinglin, Jiangyuelou, Chen Yu Zhi crosses the Xinglin side by side, and the rest of the discussion spreads from time to time Come. Chen Yuzhi: Yuelou, you said, people have an afterlife ? Jiang Yuelou took a deep look at Chen Yuzhi: I don't know Tao, but I hope there is. Chen Yuzhi laughed; even if he had, he drank Meng Po soup, Probably also met and did not know each other. Jiang Yuelou: Leave a secret sign, how about? If you meet again See, you won’t miss it. Chen Yuzhi ridiculed: Isn't that necessary for generations to come Met you guy? Jiang Yuelou jealous: Listening to these words, it seems not very willing? Chen Yuzhi: If it were you, I would be willing. Jiang Yuelou was deeply moved, and the two smiled at each other. The shadow disappeared in the depths of the apricot forest. The mountain scenery is steep, Zhan Junbai stands on the cliff, but He didn't feel cold, he was just cold in his heart. Zhan Junbai stared deeply at a touch of the apricot forest ahead Back, his eyes cleared and disappeared. Zhan Junbai murmured: Do you have an afterlife? The mountain wind blows and blows, as if it blows this sentence to the mountain In the ears of people. Yutangchun faces the apricot forest and back to the cliff. I hope Hope, for generations to come, never see each other... From Huawei memo @ 直好好的

ok so I tried to come up with three characters like you did for me but this was very difficult. so feel free to ignore some if you don't like it or feel like talking about someone else :'D but the beauty ghost/liu qianqiao (word of honor), yu tangchun (killer and healer, bc i know you like our opera boy) and seo moonjo (strangers from hell, bc i am always curious about you and this dentist lol)
Aaaah thanks for these! 💗 It’s been a joy to answer them, so I hope you can get through my ramblings about them.
Referring to Give Me A Character
and I’ll break their ass down:
How I feel about this character
All the people I ship romantically with this character
My non-romantic OTP for this character
My unpopular opinion about this character
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon.
My answers under the cut:
Liu Qian Qiao/ Beauty Ghost (Word of Honor)
Tumblr media
How I feel about her: I love her and she deserves better. I’ve not finished the drama yet and I know surprisingly little spoilers about her. I just love to see her acting on her own accord, standing up for the person she loves. Being protective and so caring of Luo Fu Meng, it breaks my heart. From what I’ve seen, she’s gotten on my radar only recently - after they saved Luo Fu Meng from the prison, I got really excited to see more of her and them in general.
I think she deserves better than that pathetic man whose name I don’t bother to remember. I’m scared of what the show will do to her but I’m so excited to see more, especially now that Scorpion got them in his clutches? She’s on par with him and I’m curious which direction this will go. However, as with many C-dramas unfortunately, she does not really feel tangible to me? There is always something missing, just a small piece that will make her feel more true to me. Maybe the drama will deliver on that? I’m not sure what to expect.
All the people I ship romantically with her: Luo Fu Meng!!! Lesbian ghosts rights!!! Their recent scenes have been breaking me and I just want to see more of them. I want to know more about their past together, about their dynamic. Luo Fu Meng is her master but right now, Liu Qian Qiao is the one guiding and caring for her. It shows how equal they actually are, even if not in their title. Liu Qian Qiao’s devotion to her feels so burning and determined - whatever she has going on with that man just pales in contrast. She was ready to risk it all for her and she would never abandon her. She’s willing to do anything and I’m just praying for their lives - please don’t fuck it up, @ show writers.
In short, I just need more of them. Please.
My non-romantic OTP for her: I loved her interaction with A-Xiang a lot - she truly seems like an older sibling to her and it’s precious to see. I can see them being easily annoyed with each other but also fiercely protective of the other. I can see A-xiang being an unstoppable whirlwind and Qian Qiao trying to ground her, while being incredibly fond. I can also see A-xiang pulling her older sister out of her own head, grounding her and validating her? Tell her that she is more than she thinks of herself, and that she deserves a lot more than she allows for herself. I need more of their interaction because I’m weak for found family tropes and I need more of the ladies doing their own thing outside of Wen Kexing’s or someone else’s periphery.
Also I want more interaction with her and the Evil Bodhisattva???? The potential that friendship has? Please gimme.
My unpopular opinion: I don’t know any opinions? I’ve not yet dived deeply into the WOH fandom because I’m not done with the drama yet. I’ve generally seen little content about her and the other ghost ladies, which is a pity. Once I get there, I’m excited to dive into all the fandom has to offer.
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: I’m on episode 24, so I can’t really judge what the show is gonna do to her, but so far I wish for more depth. Less of that horrible man being affiliated with her. Less of her being subjected to violence. More agency. More of her and Fu Meng interacting, caring for each other, being in each other’s space. I hope her to survive and not be killed, so I’m crossing fingers.
Yu Tangchun (Killer and Healer)
Tumblr media
How I feel about this character: OH BOY. I have freshly baked feelings about him, get ready. Warning for spoilers:
First of all, I always felt the drama did not dive into him as deeply as I had wished. Something was always missing there, but I can’t really name what. Maybe more depth, other than just being sick and out for revenge? He had more potential and I will get to it later. But from all I’ve gotten from him, I love how strong he is, and how much bravery there is in such a small body. He has his own mind and own agenda and doesn’t allow people pushing him around - I also love how deceiving he can be, even to his friends (namely Chen Yuzhi when he asked for that drug). He is a clever fox and I love that for him. Which also made him incredibly unpredictable to me in the beginning - I just couldn’t quite place him?
In the end, am just incredibly fond and he deserved so so much better than the show ever gave him.
All the people I ship romantically with him: Zhan Junbai, with all its flaws. From the first moment on, their tension just made me go ???????? the whole time. It was amazing and unsettling to watch, see its development and knowing this could not end well. A very delicious dynamic that always treaded the line of will they or won’t they (whether that refers to killing each other or otherwise). At some point I felt a little more invested into their plotline simply because it was so interesting and unpredictable. The mutual attraction is undeniable, which made what happened later even more heartbreaking and fucked up.
It could have never worked, even if Zhan Zhunbai had been less of a dick. They deserved a different ending - at least Yu Tangchun should have been the one to kill him, or at least they should have had a proper showdown together. After all - they were more than friends at this point.
My non-romantic OTP: I loved his friendship with Chen Yuzhi, but I must say I would have loved to see him more with Chu Ran! If we imagine a different ending, they could have bonded together so much over what Zhan Junbai did to the both of them. They are both so gentle and headstrong, I wish we had gotten more of them together. It could be relaxing and freeing for the both of them.
Also I’ve always wondered how exactly Yu Tangchun’s friendship with Jiang Yuelou worked? I think this got way too little spotlight.
My unpopular opinion about him: I have no idea what is popular and what isn’t? Maybe that I sort of enjoyed the idea of Yu Tangchun joining Zhan Junbai, even though I knew it wouldn’t happen. Let me dream, that could have been a different level of conflict.
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: Oh boy. Oh boy. SO MUCH. Spoilers ahead if you haven’t finished the show:
First of all, his ending?? It felt way too rushed and while not out of character, he deserved so much more than his death being an afterthought to the plot and a few sad gay flashbacks. The entire ending felt rushed and oh boy, could I rant about it here, but I will try and focus on Yu Tangchun. So yes, give him the respect he deserves.
Another thing which I have mentioned above is that I wished they had given him more depth? Just a little bit more other than the trauma and agony he went through. I also wish I had seen more of his opera and his story with it - how he got there, how he thinks about it. We only ever got glimpses and I get that a show can only focus on so much, but still.
I also wish his ending with Zhan Junbai had been different - in a sense that I wanted him to break Zhan Junbai, lure some genuine emotions on his face other than anger. I wish they had gotten more….closure? I don’t even know. It didn’t feel satisfactory at all. Zhan Junbai went through so much trouble to keep him and then suddenly he let’s him go and then he dies? It just went too quickly. If at least Yu Tangchun had been there to kill him in the end, or at least get some sort of closure. I’m rambling now because I don’t know what I wanted for them but it was certainly more than what the show gave me. I am so frustrated about the ending of the show, help me.
Seo Moonjo (Strangers from Hell)
Tumblr media
How I feel about this character: Conflicted. That is the short answer to that, but of course I’m not here to give a short answer. Do I have to clarify that I do not condone the actions of a cannibalistic serial killer in real life? I hope not. Okay, let’s get to it then.
Seo Moonjo (or Mr. Dentist, as I lovingly call him) to me is incredibly intimidating. Part of it is that Lee Dong Wook does an incredible job at depicting him as charming and terribly unsettling at the same time. From the first second he shows up on screen, you feel this presence - and you feel intrigue and fear. Which is what Seo Moonjo wants, it’s what he preys on.
So when I think about how I feel about him, I think he is one of the best villains I’ve encountered recently, simply because he makes me feel the same way he makes Jongwoo feel. I’m very fascinated? I feel Seo Moonjo is a very lonely person, lost in his own ideals and morals. He has absolutely no sense of social propriety and does not intend to learn them. He’s so caught up in his own art and his desire for a certain life, it’s almost pitiful how much he desires it. But of course, once I feel a sliver of pity, he reminds me that he is - indeed - hell personified. I am still lowkey mad that he charmed me (why is being a villain so sexy smh).
Summing up, I love and hate him. What a creepy bastard.
All the people I ship romantically with him: Yoon Jongwoo, despite all the cruelty of it. I think comparing this show to NBC’s Hannibal is very valid, even though these two never got a proper development of their relationship like Will and Hannibal did. I absolutely think that Seo Moonjo is in love with Jongwoo and wants him to be his, wants to wrap him up in his life and make him the ‘perfect art-piece’ he had always wanted in his collection. No matter how sick it is, this obsession is probably the closest Seo Moonjo can get to feeling love - he does not know how else to love.
So what do I want for them? I want Jongwoo to get his revenge, to make Seo Moonjo suffer as much as he did. I want Jongwoo to see eye to eye with him so they can walk with equal footing. I want Seo Moonjo to realise that Jongwoo has as much power over him as he thinks he has over the other. After this, they can be murder husbands for all I care, in true Hannibal-esque fashion. The emancipation of Jongwoo needs to happen first, and Seo Moonjo needs to realise that he is not the invincible one in this relationship. After that, they can have a good time together, no matter how fucked up that time may look like.
Also, I am convinced that he ‘dated’ Yoo Gihyeok in a twisted way, before he went and fucked up his plans; and before Jongwoo came to cath his eye.
My non-romantic OTP: As mentioned above - Seo Moonjo is a lone wolf. Yes he had his pack and someone that guided him on this path, but none of them ever come close to him to see his heart. The show itself doesn’t give him much space to see a potential friendship except the one he has with Jongwoo. Jongwoo would be the answer for this as well. (also to be fair, I don’t wish anyone to be friends with him damn)
However, if I could explore more dynamics he has with other people, I would love to see it with Officer So. I think she is an incredibly interesting and strong character and the few scenes they had together were fascinating - she came as his patient and ended up being his enemy. In another installment of this show, I would’ve loved to see more interaction like that and see the development of them being pleasant acquaintances (and maybe Seo Moonjo realising that she too is worth his attention) to enemies. I want Seo Moonjo to find respect for her.
My unpopular opinion: I’m not into depicting him as fancy rich, as many do in fics. Yes he’s a dentist and surely has a ton of money, but I like the idea that despite this wealth, he would always be a shabby sort of person. Not decked out with a luxurious rooftop apartment and wearing dress-shirts every day and expensive watches; but rather using his wealth to make himself safe from detection, finding remote areas, buying utensils and appliances for his ‘art’. So no, I reject the vision of him lounging on the highest building in Seoul with a minimalist empty apartment. I see him in a ratty rundown but expensive old mansion/house that has many corners for his artistic endeavours. I’ve already picked the perfect house for him in Busan, on the top of a hill overseeing the city and the harbour.
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: I’ve mentioned it above, but I wish Seo Moonjo had gotten to feel more pain. We got Jongwoo’s liberation and Moonjo being proud of his ‘artwork’ while Jongwoo kills him, but that was not the revenge Jongwoo needed. In the end, Moonjo still lingers with him, as a constant presence, and he never got a taste of his own medicine. While watching this show, all I wanted was Jongwoo to break Moonjo’s heart. This would not make up the suffering Moonjo put him through but at least they would be equal. So I have my own revenge fantasy with this character that is more than ‘merely’ killing him. Being killed by Jongwoo just felt like an honour to Seo Moonjo and I’m not satisfied with that.
Phew okay I’m done! Thank you for giving me something to ramble about, it was a joy!!

Okay, so since tumblr's being a dick, here is the ask that I previously sent you! So, since I sent this ask, I am currently working on a chaptered fic called "In Too Deep" where it's a triad/mob fic where Zhan Junbai and Yu Tangchu are mob leaders and they meet Chen Yuzhi and essentially ask him to join their mob after he's cared for like two of their members. When Yuzhi says no, Zhan Junbai's like "Lol, we have your sister. Join or she dies". Chaos ensues (but there's gonna be a happy end)
PLEASEEEEEE. Mob bosses Junbai and Tangchu would be a great combo a;ldfkjsda;l and so this time they aren’t star-crossed lovers lmao. also, i’m not surprised that junbai would threated yuzhi like that. that’s totally in character LOL.
pleaseeeeee. i would love to read this!! and so then this time it looks like chen yuzhi and jiang yuelou would be on opposing sides?? enemies-to-lovers trope??? a;sldkfja;k tell me MORE. Let me read this aaaahhhhhhhh

okay so heads up i’m drunk and i’ve decided to make it y’all’s problem. i’m joking i do not wish to be a problem anyway killer and healer thoughts below the cut bc i still have some sense of shame (and i’ve accidentally written like three essays condensed in one)
so i’ve seen a post that compares zhan junbai with boss yu and while i do agree on most resemblances there is one big difference between them that does make them incompatible, no matter what zhan junbai wants: motive. belief. zhan junbai believes in power over anything else and in my opinion does not consider other people as human beings. they’re just another pawn in his game, and that’s how he stays sane while committing atrocities. if others’ lives don’t matter, there’s no need to feel guilty as he orders their deaths. as long as they are considered to be pawns, it’s okay. then comes boss yu, who isn’t a pawn to be ordered. zhan junbai does consider him as a Real Person... until boss yu drops the act. then he becomes a possession. maybe he always was one, as i think i recall zhan junbai asking him multiple times to stay at his house.
on the other hand we have boss yu, who sees his life shortens before his very own eyes, and maybe he really does love to sing, but it becomes quickly apparent that he is driven by pure revenge, and he has nothing to lose, not even his own life as it is already forfeited by his illness. we could consider that either love for his family either pure hate for the person who murdered his family fuels his revenge. maybe both of them. he never approached zhan junbai in the idea of becoming Real Best Friends or Lovers: he straight up thought at first that zhan junbai was the one who killed his family and did accept to visit him bc of it. then he thought he was wrong about zhan junbai and used him as a pawn to get closer to zhan junbai’s uncle. i like to think that he was genuine when he took that knife for zhan junbai bc how the fuck are you going to plan to stay alive after receiving a knife in your belly at this era with a high chance of dying for someone you dis think was innocent is above me, clearly. but then i cannot see why you would hurt someone in the first place so i might not be the most reliable person on that question. anyway. i do not think boss yu has ever been his real self around zhan junbai except after zhan junbai discovers the truth. zhan junbai was just another pawn in his game, then turned out to be the king to take down. boss yu is driven by revenge and desperation as his life is shortened bit by bit. he has nothing to lose. that does make him the most dangerous of the two in my opinion.
so while i do think that zhan jumbai’s feelings about boss yu were real until he discovered he was nothing but a pawn to him (then it turned into obsession), boss yu never considered him as someone he could trust even less love. zhan junbai did get a taste of his own medicine and did not appreciate it. but instead of learning from it he decides to go feral. i mean i do not blame him (well yes i do but-) bc imagine the mental vibe check that this must give him. would you prefer to run away from your sins and go deeper or confront them and realise how fucked up you are, so much you barely qualify as human?
i do think that the most real, the most truthful boss yu has ever been was with chen yuzhi, the doctor who knew about his illness and with whom he becomes friends before this whole debacle. but even to him, he can lie without batting an eyelash. and he does so multiple times. on one hand, some of his lies are to help another friend (jiang yuelou). on the other they are lies to push further his plan (the drug to die peacefully, for instance.) but chen yuzhi is also one of the only person he can fully trust, as chen yuzhi does not hesitate in using his knowledge to knock off zhan junbai when boss yu is far from comfortable.
then chen yuzhi. he is a fascinating character, if only by his refusal to reveal anything about his own past but spending his time saving other people. it does tell me that he doesn’t know how to save himself from his own past or wishes he could completely avoid it, forget it, put it aside. so he doesn’t think about it. only matter the lives he can save; he did not become doctor for nothing. maybe then it does become quite hypocritical of him to treat jiang yuelou, but then other people’s problems are so much easier to deal with, aren’t they? also chen yuzhi is trying hard not to hold grudges (it doesn’t mean he is always successful, far from it), but when it explodes? no one is safe. he will suddenly look at you straigth in the eyes and destroy your entire existence till now. do you know more about his story? absolutely no. do you know better than to test his patience? hopefully yes. the dude does have a lot of patience, but it is never endless. and once you reach the limit, it does tend to be quite noticeable.
personally i also view chen yuzhi as the blueberry shot expresso type of guy bc people do trust him quite easily bc he seems so so normal and calm but there IS something that does not quite turn round as we say in french about him. he turns square. not necessarily wrong per se, but very different. the dude barely fliches as he has an axe against his neck. that was probably not his first time being at the wrong place at the wrong time.
jiang yuelou, him, is the most open in his affections. or dislikes. won’t even pretend to shake a damn hand even when his life depends on it. but will smile sincerely at chen yuzhi at their next meeting, despite arresting him in their first one. jiang yuelou is someone who is really sincere. to a fault. and isn’t that what distinguishes him from zhan junbai in the end? zhan junbai who lived under a mask, and jiang yuelou who can barely keep one for more than five consecutive seconds.
