Look man, I have never "shipped" Dan and Phil, because they are real people, and treating real people like fictional characters has always skeeved me out, personally. Like I know it's done in the tabloids and such, but I never liked that either. You laughed as you pressed one of the acrylic tips onto Spencer’s thumb. “I have to push it–” your laughter was cutting you off, “I have to push it all the way down… to fit… your nails.”

Spencer was amused by your hysterical state. You got the video idea from a few of your comments. They were begging for more Spencer and wanted you to put him through the real youtuber boyfriend experience. A few suggested that you'd become good enough at doing your nails to the point where you should do Spencer’s nails and bam! There you were, sitting at your vanity with the camera and acrylic all set up. You’re about five minutes into the video already and you've only glued two nails.

Calming down, you continued to find the right sized nails for him, “you're being a really good sport about this, Spence.”

He was quick with his response, “when is being a good sport going to start benefiting me?”

You laughed again, squeezing his wrist as you placed a drop of glue onto his middle finger. “You'll look even more beautiful.” Placing the tip down, your next words were spoken under your breath, “even if I have to make these tips extra wide.” When the nail was fully on and you began to move on to his ring finger, you felt a small jab at your hand. “Ow!”

“I don't appreciate the comments about my fingers under your breath.” He was being playful and you knew that, but that still stopped you from further comments on his man-hands.

You sped through the gluing process and moved on to priming his nails. Once you got to the actual acrylic part, Spencer flinched. “What are you doing?”

“What?” You slightly panicked, scared you were about to hurt him, but seeing the inquisitive expression on his face made you relax. “You watch me do this all of the time.”

“I just want to know the process.”

“Okay,” you began, dipping the brush in the clear glass in front of you, “I’m dipping the brush in the monomer and gently tapping in on the paper towel to get the excess off. Now, I'm aiming to pick up a bead of acrylic powder, and place it on your nail.”

As you were doing what you were saying, Spencer furrowed his brows. “On my nail? Like, my real nail?”

“Mhmm. Then we’re going to let it dry.”

“So when I take it off will it be close to ripping my nail off?”

His scared expression caused you to suck your lips to your teeth. “Yes?”

He stared at you for a moment before speaking, “the rational part of my brain knows you're playing it up but this is uncharted territory for me so I’m not sure what to expect.”

You laughed and let him know it would be okay before continuing the process and allowing them to dry. When they were done, Spencer was wiggling his fingers and getting a feel for the nails. “I hate it. It’s extremely uncomfortable and I don't understand how you could do anything with these. I already respected you, but I think I have a lot more now.”

You smiled earnestly at his remark, and noticed his glasses slide down the bridge of his nose. His reflexes caused him to push them up, one finger from each hand on either side of his glasses secured them back in place, and you couldn't help but laugh once again.

“What?” He didn't understand how his actions made him look.

“You looked the amount of sassy that you are.”

“I am not sassy!”

“Yes,” you began, still laughing, “yes you are.”

“Whatever,” he muttered, holding out his hands to glance down at the nails. “We’re lucky I haven't been called in. Could we take these off now?”

Biting your bottom lip, you gave a cheeky smile. “Yeah… we just have to run to the drug store really quick to grab some acetone.”

“We?” His eyes were big, pleading with you.

“Spencer… it's dark out and I’m not driving to the drug store that is less than 600 feet away. You wouldn't leave me to walk the D.C streets at night by myself, would you?” You knew you got him the moment you mentioned the time of day. Looking at the camera, you smiled and addressed your followers. “We’re going to jump cut to me taking these nails off of Spencer. I think I’ve tortured him enough. He isn’t built for the acrylic lifestyle.”

“I could be!”

“You wanna keep those on?”

“No,” his answer was automatic, again, causing you to laugh.

You cut the camera before grabbing your bag and putting on your shoes, watching Spencer struggle with his Converse from your peripheral. “Come on, lover boy, you never know when you're gonna get called in.” You began to walk out of the room but heard him grumble. “What was that?”

You turned around and smirked at his defeated expression. “Can you help?” He said it a little louder, but still quiet. Shaking your head, you walked over to him. With or without the acrylics, he was truly the sassiest man you knew, and you loved him for it.

Okay the other reason im so sad about jenna marbles leaving her channel indefinitely is that like...she's the only youtuber I watch who never tries to sell me anything?

Like she doesn't sell merchandise or do sponsors on her channel and how fucking rare is that?? (On the jenna and julien podcast there is sponsors and i feel like they've had merch but that feels different). Like honestly i would 100% buy her merch if she put some out, or a book, I personally wouldn't buy makeup if she did a line or collab or whatever (im not a make up person)but I know a lot of her fans probably would have. • It’s Been a Minute with Sam Sanders

each week, Sam Sanders interviews people in the culture who deserve a platform. plus weekly wraps of the news with other journalists. His show is based on free-form conversation and dialogue and it is incredibly effective.

• No Dogs in Space

a killer podcast to initiate you into the punk-lore if you aren’t already. amusing, interesting, and very entertaining

• Rabbit Hole

distills the history of internet discourse by zeroing in on a few widely influential online personalities and movements

• Getting Curious with Jonathan Van Ness

every week is something different with the skyrocketing reality star discussing everything from queer spaces to neuroscience and political activism. the guests he has are superb and having his over-the-top personality in the mix gives such a fresh spin on the transfer of conversation and thought had on the show.

my favorite gal jenna marbles and boyfriend julien solomita ran this podcast for years before wrapping it up last year. it can be laugh out loud funny to emotional to serious all within a few eps of each other. the snake oil and shark tank eps are a couple of my favorite running games they do on the show. another to watch/listen to when sad

Dasey Frenemies AU

So, I recently wrote what I think a Dasey podcast would entail on a reblog of @rubyredsundae’s post. This is a just a continuation of my little blurb on that but in bullet form again because I am not a fanfic writer. I used to be for other fandoms and I may get back into the good ol’ craft but I make no promises regarding that. However, if there are any writers out there who want to take inspiration from my post and create something, feel free to do so and hand over the link because I need more Dasey content!!! Anyway without further ado, Dasey and their ‘frenemies’ style podcast: 

Okay, I forgot to mention this in the other post and didn’t realize it until I was watching the most recent frenemies podcast. But COULD YALL IMAGINE THE AD READS?? omg the ad reads would be so chaotic. I know my main inspiration and the podcast I draw most parallels from is ‘frenemies’, but I can see Derek pulling a Julien from the recently discontinued ‘Jenna & Julien’ podcast. It was a running joke in the podcast for Julien to try to grab the audience (and Jenna’s) attention and then slip into an ad read for the sponsors and it never fails to send me into orbit. 

“Do you know who else is going to be cancelled?” “Who?” “Our viewers at home if they don’t install our sponsor for today: Honey!” “Der-ek!“

Derek calls Casey a princess once then the fandom just runs with it and makes it part of their brand. Derek starts to call Casey a princess almost every episode thereafter for the fans.

Derek making fun of Casey for being ‘meme-challenged’ like Ethan does to Trisha in the ‘frenemies’ podcast. I just know he would make it a point almost every episode to show Casey a meme and try to explain it to her when she doesn’t get it. 

Derek shows her this meme. Casey then replying with, “Oh, so I could caption it with something like, ‘me trying to do algebra.’” Then Derek just looking at her like “...that’s not funny.” Then someone behind the camera chimes in, “It’s actually so literal that it’s funny.” Yes, I completely ripped this moment from the most recent episode of the ‘frenemies’ podcast. It just seemed so fitting for them. (Here’s the time stamp for those who are curious: 1:26:00)

Derek having to calm Casey down after she goes on long rants about something he did off camera that pissed her off.

I’d bet Casey walked off set at least three times (all different episodes) and just left Derek behind laughing because he successfully got under her skin again.

They’d show up together next episode and Derek would open up the podcast by making fun of Casey for her dramatic outburst. “Well it looks like the princess finally got enough beauty sleep to put up with me for another episode.”

Henry doing your nails 💅 hc?

So I went a different way with this, ‘cause…Jenna and Julien are a thing and I’ve had some booze. :P

Though you met at Comicon, share a love for video games, and have been living together for the last two years, Henry’s never once made a formal appearance on either your Youtube channel or Twitch stream. 

Your fans know you’re dating and have seen him a time or two in the background, often in little more than his boxer briefs (something his publicist nearly killed both of you for the first time it happened), but he generally makes it a point to not interfere with your career the same way you don’t get involved with his. 

So it’s a surprise to everyone, including yourself, when he decides to pop in unannounced during one of your many streams. You’re hamming it up as you get ready to do your own acrylic set, something you’ve become known for doing not only with accuracy, but speed while waiting for new games to load onto your PC. Today’s no different, as you ready your brush, powder, and lamp, singing along to Drake’s, God’s Plan as you set up. 

Just as your favorite part comes up, you feel a presence behind you, and can’t stop your ear-to-ear smile as Henry’s face comes into full view of the camera. 

“She said ‘Do you love me?’ I tell her ‘Only partly.’ I only love my bed and my momma, I’m sorry,” you both say, Henry hugging you from behind, a feat considering your high-back gaming chair. Lowering the volume, you turn and get an immediate kiss, your cheeks flushing bright pink as the sounds of messages and donations start coming a mile a minute. 

“Hey, love,” he tells you, grinning as he sets down your favorite drink, indicating the reason for his impromptu visit. 

“Aww, thanks, babe!” You coo, truly appreciative that he not only took the time to make it, but that he brought it to you during a lull in your gaming. 

Your face broadcasts your surprise as you watch Henry take his usual seat at his setup–one that’s always off-screen so that even if you’re streaming, he can still play and be near you without having to be on camera–before rolling his chair over to yours.

“What’s going on? Guys, my boyfriend is on the stream, finally!” You ask before addressing your audience, beyond thrilled that Henry’s come to join you, your eyes expressing nothing but joy as he pulls your legs on top of his, bringing the two of you as close as possible. 

“Figured I’d come hang out,” he replies innocently, his smile as big as yours, both of you knowing full well what this is doing to everyone watching you. With the majority of your audience being female, it’s no surprise when you look over at your comments to find a barrage of hearts, awws, and omgs, everyone as shocked and elated as you are.

“Guys, he came to hang out!” You can’t help the high pitch of your voice, or the cute pouty expression that comes across your face as you all but make googly eyes at your boyfriend. 

“So, since you’re here, I’m gonna put you to work,” you add a moment later, an impish grin crossing your face as you hand him your acrylic brush. 

Henry looks down at it, back up at you, then back down at the brush, his face showing the slight terror that he’s feeling. “No, I’ll mess them up. They’ll look terrible!” He laughs, shaking his head. 

“New challenge! Play the latest PUBG update with whatever nails this one gives me!” You proclaim, the barrage of messages coming even faster than before, and sealing Henry’s fate. 

“You brought this upon yourself, darling!” He says with mock sternness, Henry’s face making it clear he’s not only up for the challenge, but enjoying himself just as much as you are.

“Okay, so I’ll give you one instruction, and one instruction only. You have to dip the brush into the liquid, then into the powder before you put it on my nails.” You smirk, knowing full well your hands are going to look abysmal by the time he’s done.

“Oh god, it smells like death!” Henry scrunches up his nose as he takes his first whiff of the liquid you regularly use to apply your acrylics. Popping on the last of your new tips, you feel your laughter bubble up, forgetting that this is the first time he’s even been in the room while you’ve done your nails. 

“Beauty is pain…and death!” You say in a cartoonish voice, hearing some of your regulars laugh along with you in the stream. 

“Jesus!” Henry cracks up, soaking the brush in the solution and letting the excess drip back into the cup before dunking it into the powder. 

“No bead here,” you wheeze, adjusting your beanie and hoodie before giving him your hand, watching as he gloops on the acrylic. Covering your face with your free hand, you wheeze, beside yourself with how much he’s applied all at once. 

“Oh, this is an abomination,” Henry muses as he tries to fix his mistake, accidentally making it worse by putting a thick indent right across your nail.

“It’s art!” You giggle, looking at it only to laugh harder as he moves on to your next nail.

“I’m giving you talons, you realize,” He laughs, both of you having to stop to share in a gut-busting laugh as one of the nails somehow comes out square despite your tips being oval.

“Oh my god, this is gonna be a blood bath. For those of you that don’t know, Henry plays against me in PUBG nearly every time he’s home. He’s played on the stream…those of you who’ve heard the shit-talk on live know how competitive he gets. Well, no shit-talking will be required today, ‘cause he’s gonna beat my ass!” You cry out as he finishes the first hand and slides it under the lamp to harden. 

“Why do you girls do this? There’s better ways to torture yourself. Shakespearean sonnets, biting a fork, writing on a chalkboard…” The messages and donations come pouring in again, surprisingly from a lot of your male audience, all of them in agreement with Henry. 

By the time he’s done with both your hands, you’ve got nearly every shape imaginable and the patchiest paint job you’ve ever seen, but you couldn’t be happier. Showing it off to everyone on the stream, you take a few pictures for your instagram, and then look up at him with all the love in the world. 

“Thank you, baby!” You make kissy faces at him, and Henry doesn’t hesitate, leaning in and giving you a long, slow kiss that nearly makes you think twice about playing. The sound of a donation reminds you that you’re still technically ‘working’ so you let go reluctantly. 

“All right guys, who’s ready to watch me be annihilated on this update? He’s gonna beat me like a drum with these on, but you know what? It’s okay, ‘cause I’ll be the one doing the beating of drums later, if you know what I mean.” Wiggling your eyebrows at Henry, you can’t stop yourself from laughing as he gives you a genuinely shocked and amused face. 

Your audience approves, if the veritable torrent of messages and donations is anything to go by.
