It's always so weird to come down from the biology heavens to see what the average person believes about animals, plants, ecosystems, just the world around them. I don't even mean things that one simply doesn't know because they've never been told or things that are confusing, I'm talking about people who genuinely do not see insects as animals. What are you saying. Every time I see a crawling or fluttering little guy I know that little guy has motivations and drive to fulfill those motivations. There are gears turning in their head! They are perceiving this world and they are drawing conclusions, they are conscious. And yet it's still a whole thing if various bugs of the world feel pain or if they are simply Instinct Machines that are Not Truly Aware of Anything At All????? Help!!!!!! How can you look at a little guy and think he is just the macroscopic animal version of a virus

if there is one thing I can respect about bnha it's for going yeah we're a society where almost everyone has a superpower including any number of animal based superpowers of course theres a bunny girl superhero but also the bunny girl super hero is just one of the most cool bad ass fighter superheroes ever she will break every bone in your body with her legs and there's nothing you or god can do about it

SUNILA ARKANS / LEADER OF THE AZURE

Sunila is the last of a lineage of famous hunting cetacean animans. She's one of the few remaining of her family that abandoned fame and hunting for a life of her own. She can often be found engaging with others through street fighting, a fun pass time and a good source of income for her. If you encounter be on edge… Well, not too on edge. She's one of the most hospitable animans out there! Even if she has a sharp, sassy attitude, she makes good company. In addition, she’s a trusted ally of Obasi. For the most part she’s here to keep the peace.

She's a well known street fighter among the smaller communities in Haderia. She even landed a fight against Noctis, the Iron Brusier. Of course, she came out on top. She currently lives in the Kyssaro district in Haderia, settling into her new life, and making a name for herself as a Haderian street legend. The Azure are a more violent vigilante group that's allied with the Phantoms (led by Obasi), and suffice to say, Sunila and Obasi don't always see eye to eye. Though, it can't be denied that together, Obasi and Sunila make for a tactical, effective, and powerful team of mind meets muscle. Overall, Sunila is a very boisterous, loud, and close-minded animan that likes to do things her way. One way or another she'll get the hang of teamwork…

i finished this a few days ago but i've been busy haha. been working hard on references for artfight, and i finally got another done! i think this leaves me at four more that i'm gonna hopefully have done before july... whew! this time, sunila makes a well-deserved comeback with both a new design and updated lore! i mention some settings and worldbuilding here that i haven't yet posted on tumblr, but if you're in my discord server then you may recognize some of the settings and groups mentioned.

i hope to draw and write more of sunila, as she's actually become quite an important secondary character in my book, "blade in the city"! sunila is such a fun character to write.

while i haven't shared any work featuring her yet aside from my book (which, i don't even know when that'll be done lol), i hope to change that with a drabble or two. she and obasi butt heads a lot mostly because sunila is a jerk that doesn't like to listen to others or take them seriously. she's got some personal growth to go through, but i still love her :P

Ship is reading me the Hobbit aloud and Tolkien specifies in the opening that orcs are unrelated to orcas. And. roughly 15 seconds later I shouted "WHAT IF SARUMAN MADE ORCAS WORSE" and we both just sat there like ohhhh I wouldn't like that. that would be so so scary. 👎

CONSIDER. Consider. Based on that last ask. Orca Jazz technically has vaguely fine vision in terms of human ranges. And he doesn't really have a problem with anything as is because everything is always so CLOSE to him in the tanks. But compared to other mers? His vision is SHIT. He cant see through water like he should, can't see as far as he should, every mer has way better vision than he does. And nobody figures that out UNTIL he's out of the aquarium because in the AQUARIUM his vision served just fine. But now that he's out in the ocean, Prowl realizing so quick that he can't see for dick diddly. Bringing him to the fish doctor and getting confirmed "yep you have bad vision" and Jazz proceeds to get prescribed the fish visor

I propose a bit funnier option.

Jazz has shitty vision but he doesn’t realise that something is wrong because he has no one to compare right? And then he meets Prowl and Prowl JUST as fucking blind as him so they both are clueless now and keep using echolocation instead of eyes if they need to see something far from them.

That is until Prowl takes Jazz to a proper hospital and they do aaaaaalll kinds of tests and checks on him. Which leads to an eye doctor (fish-Ophthalmologist?) pointing at Jazz “You need glasses young man!”

And Prowl is like “Huh? why? His vision isn’t any worse than mine?” and eye doctor slowly turns in his direction like in horror movies
