Different anon here but wanted to mention that the last of us doesn't have zombies. It's actually just humans that are infected with a fungus infection that similar to the thing that happens to insects and turns them mad. Just thought I'd mention that since i was confused about it too lol
Hi anon,
I feel like you're kind of quibbling here to ignore the fact that I just broadly don't like zombie content. I appreciate that you want me to have something to do with TLOU, but I don't. So let's talk about this fungus and zombies.
Did you know that when Cordyceps was first introduced on mainstream media via David Attenborough in 2006, it was called the zombie fungus?
Did you know that the common name for Cordyceps when it was first discovered parasitising ants was known as the zombie-ant fungus? And did you know that the ants parasitised were commonly called zombie-ants? Not just by people who knew nothing about science, but by the scientists who discovered this.
I know a little more about Cordyceps and Ophiocordyceps than the average person (for a start, I knew about it before TLOU existed), so I know it's got a lengthy history with being considered the first biological evidence of something as close as we could ever get to zombieficition, and it's since inspired horror authors (and video game creators obvs) around the world.
So you pointing out that the game is about a new form of Cordyceps doesn't make this game any less about zombies as far as I'm concerned, because you know...the science and discussions around Cordyceps.
I mean obviously Cordyceps doesn't create literal zombies in the classic sense (these ants aren't doing anything more than trying to spread the fungus, even as their brains are completely taken over and they're directed into strange behaviours by it), but I also know that TLOU isn't a little fun slice of life romp in the sunshine.
I don't like horror. And I really don't like horror that has anything, on any level, to do with zombies, or anything like zombies. And while you can be like 'oh but they're not really zombies it's a fungus' I just want to point out that this fungus - Cordyceps and Ophiocordyceps - has been literally associated with zombies in the mass media and by scientists and by authors for like...decades, including by David Attenborough himself when he first drew more global attention to its existence.

“We’re just helping each other out on a long shift. It’s not gay,” Sal says into the air of the empty station bathroom as he wraps a hand around Tommy’s dick, and then in the same breath, “No one can ever know.”
Tommy nods, too far gone in the fantasy-come-to-life of what’s happening to dwell on the irony there. He’ll pick that apart later. For now, he has what he’s craved for so long within his grasp, he just has to reach out and take it.
He gets his hand on Sal’s dick in return and revels in the way it twitches under his touch. Tommy wants to moan with how good it feels to touch another man like this, to be touched by one. But he has to pretend this is friend stuff—normal straight guy shit, not the stuff of waking wet dreams—or else it will be taken away from him.
{finish on ao3 or continue below}
Tommy tries to match Sal’s pace: hard, fast, efficient. He thumbs through the liquid gathering at the head, twists his hand on the upstroke, but doesn’t let himself linger—even as his body is screaming for him to slow down and savor it. This might be his first and last chance to have this.
The way Sal is looking right at him is unexpected. He’d thought Sal would look away, pick a tile on the wall and stare at it, pretend this isn’t happening, but no: Sal is in it, studying Tommy’s face in that passive slack-jawed way of his. Tommy keeps his expression carefully neutral but he’s worried even that will give him away.
Sal’s mouth drops open on a silent moan when Tommy’s thumb drags along the vein on the underside just right, so Tommy does it again harder. He wants Sal to like this. He wants Sal to want to do this again.
Tommy is losing focus quickly. Sal isn’t working as hard to impress him, isn’t pulling out different moves to see what he likes, but his hand is big and warm and calloused and masculine around Tommy’s dick and it really doesn’t need to do anything else to have him panting and leaking.
He’s thought about this so many times and the reality of it is even better than he could have imagined. Every bit of energy he’s not using to give Sal the handjob of his life he’s putting into not whining and humping Sal’s hand like a dog.
He takes half a step forward before he can stop himself; needing to be closer. Sal huffs but he doesn’t say anything, doesn’t step back.
They’re so close to each other now that Tommy could wrap his hand around both of their dicks and jerk them off like that. He knows it would feel good, wants it more than anything in this moment, but it would be a definitive step over the ‘not gay’ line into territory he’s not sure Sal will follow him willingly. It’s this or nothing, so Tommy chooses this.
“You close?” Tommy asks. He is. He can already feel it rising in his stomach, his balls, licking along his spine. He wants Sal to come first, to hide whatever his own orgasm is going to look like in the mists of Sal’s pleasure.
Sal nods. His face is inches away from Tommy’s and he looks like he wants to say something, but he doesn’t.
When it happens, Tommy feels it. He doesn’t know why he didn’t expect to—he always feels the pulsing of his own dick as he comes—but to feel another man’s dick twitch and spasm as it shoots warm into his hand has Tommy biting back a moan so quickly he chokes on it.
Sal comes with a low groan and Tommy is helpless to follow. For as long as he’s wanted this—wanted Sal—he thinks he could’ve come from that sound alone, but the way Sal’s big hand tightens on the next few strokes is the last thing he needs to send him hurtling over the edge.
Tommy’s forehead drops to Sal’s shoulder without permission and he keens high in his throat as the pleasure rips through him. It’s easily the best orgasm he’s had in years and he’s instantly terrified of what that means.
He shoves it down. Later. He’ll think about that later.
Tommy pants, coming back to himself, and he gives himself two more seconds of physical contact with Sal before he pulls back completely.
They both lean against the hard tile wall of the bathroom and catch their breaths.
“Good?” Tommy asks, giving a joking half-smile. He knows the answer but it seems like a safe enough way to start talking again.
“Jesus, kid,” Sal laughs. “Yeah. It was good. Where the fuck’d you learn how to do that?”
He grabs some paper towels to wipe his hand off, then gives them to Tommy to do the same.
“Lonely childhood,” Tommy says. It’s true but it’s not the answer. “Dad had a lot of porn mags he’d leave around. I spent a lot of time jerking off. Figured yours doesn’t work too differently from mine.”
That look is back in Sal’s eyes like he wants to say something, but he stays quiet again. He just shakes his head and laughs.
Sal walks towards the door but stops before he opens it. “Give it a few,” he says. He doesn’t look back at Tommy but he has a small smile on his lips still. Tommy takes that as a win.
Sal leaves and Tommy is left alone with the enormity of what just happened. It was good. It was hot. Sal clearly doesn’t hate him, isn’t disgusted by him. He seemed almost… intrigued.
Tommy will sort out the shame and elation he feels swirling inside of himself like oil and water later.
For now, he washes his hands, splashes some water on his face, and gets back to work.

very funny to me when people point at ruby and castiel as the obvious intentional parallels meaning that samruby being canon = destiel when like. how it actually went down is anna was supposed to be the parallel but spn hated women too much to have two of them playing a central role in the brothers’ lives at once. what we’ve encountered here is sexism, not gay people.

sorry i am broadcasting my thoughts in real time but i am sitting at work thinking about the k.will mv and the way one part of me really loves it because it serves the story of the song so well and i am a sucker for that while another part of me obviously doesn’t need to see another bury your gays trope … though even then you can see they put a lot of love and a lot of effort to make this mv beautiful even if it’s a tragedy and i don’t know both of these things can exist i guess

something something the life of hazel levesque is an endless circle of life and death.
born the daughter of a king god and a woman who asked for too much in 1930s America. an half-human black girl in Alaska, a cursed child with a monster for a mother.
(the curse was a gift, a protection. an assurance. it was ripped from the hands of a God by a greedy woman; this is why it became a curse.)
the death of her mother, replaced with something older. colder.
mother at thirteen, the creator of something ugly and ancient and evil. a force in the ground beneath her, growing, feeding on her life force.
dead at thirteen, killing the monster she gave life too. killing her mother and the monster she hosted inside. killing herself. but still refusing eternal paradise for the woman who once was her mother, because she still loved her. still needed her.
re-born decades later by mistake, because a boy was looking for his sister and found her instead. he gave her a second chance.

Chu Wanning calls himself “old” so often and early in the narrative, and with the fact that he’s also entitled an “immortal,” you just assume he’s at some age past the average human lifespan. Which is fair enough, fine really. But then you find out his actual age at the start of the story and he’s… 26.

Pocket you cannot leave me hanging like that, what happens after the DNA test comes out as a match?
1- The next night, the broker Izuku would prefer to not acknowledge comes back with a new piece of paper. "Well?" Shigaraki asks, and the broker waves his hands. "It's a boy." Dabi grabs the paper. "Match between Midoriya Izuku and... Person 2? Giran, what-" he stops, looks at Izuku, and tilts his head. "All Might's secret lovechild?"
2- Shigaraki buries his head in his hands at the worse mental image. Magne pats his back, Twice calls Dabi both an idiot and a genius, Toga questions how Giran got All Might's blood to test. Spinner and Compress turn to Izuku, and he shuts them down immediately. "No. I am not. Ugh, Todoroki thought that too "
Dabi gets so mad at that, he storms out without a word. Izuku thinks that's kinda weird, but Giran just takes the paper he dropped. "I didn't, Toga, that's mine. And it was a spit test, not blood."
Magne points out that spit is kinda just filtered blood, and Shigaraki yells at them all to shut up. Then, he asks Izuku about Todoroki- and his weaknesses.
3- Izuku has had to deal with Shigaraki wanting info on Bakugou out of him for the last day, and he's at his limit now. He snaps, Shigaraki snaps back, and it's only when Spinner tries to break in to point out that Todoroki was the other one who fought Stain. That's a good enough redirection for Izuku to ask if Shigaraki isn't super annoyed by the stain cosplay thing, considering their mall conversation. Giran sits down next between Magne and Compress, who fill him in on how Izuku's been the last day- refusing to let Toga spoon-feed him, but begrudgingly allowing Spinner, though they suspect that will be different now. Giran says Spinner is one of the better choices for Izuku to try and use for sympathy to get an out, since he does have Stain's approval, and Spinner is, as far as Giran knows, the only member who hasn't killed anyone yet. Smart. Compress says it runs in the family, but Magne says it's absolutely no thanks to Giran at all.
4- Giran lights up a smoke, with that gun lighter of his, and Izuku cuts off when he sees it, wary, until he just lights a cigarette and puts it away. He does ask though, "Giran, right, the broker? You give them the equipment too, you gave Mustard his gun?" Giran tells him he gave Dabi a gun, actually, and Mustard stole it. The others laugh. Izuku doesn't. He's mostly glad he heard any other name to use for the broker than Hisashi. But then Giran says that it sounds like Izuku's smart, and wonders if Tomura would have an easier time swaying Bakugou to his side using that. Either way, he'd be useful with some of Giran's training- and a short leash. Izuku's very unhappy with this idea, but Shigaraki's unhappy with him and says he might just do that, since it'll piss him off. Once Sensei makes sure he isn't OP, of course.
5- Izuku has a miserable next day, as usual. That night, Giran doesn't visit. Instead, the door knocks just before All Might crashes through the wall. Edgeshot knocks a lot of people out, then pauses looking at the piece of paper that fell from the bar. It's almost as disturbing as the teenage corpse floating inside of Kurogiri. But Izuku's hugging All Might, so everything is fine- aaaand they've all been wrapped away. Well. At least All Might can make AfO feel pain for it. Nine UA students commit vigilantism and get Izuku to a hospital. Inko is immediately brought over- though the hero Edgeshot does pull her aside while Izuku's in surgery, with a few questions.
+1- After Izuku gets his casts off and can go home, he gets a text from an unknown number.
"Hi kid. Like I said, even chances you'd get picked up. You can ask your friends how they knew, it was patches storming out in a hissy. Also like I said, you owe me a favor. Later, though. For now, just don't block this number?"
Izuku immediately blocks the number.
Cities away, Giran laughs and pulls out a second burner phone.
"fine, I get it, one helicopter parent is enough. Take your space."
Izuku glances to the door, behind which he knows his mother is getting ready for visitors from UA, that she isn't sure he's safe there, and holds his phone so tightly it breaks.

I love how Wild Kratts lies on both ends of the spectrum of cultural relevance; On one end it raised a decade’s worth of an entire generation on biology knowledge, its animal activism inspired a scientist to name an insect after the Kratt Bros, is part of a quarter-century line-up of several different shows which have paved the path for the Kratt Brothers’ cultural impact on of itself, inspired a lot of furries, has a massive online following, and is one of the most top-rated PBS Kids shows to date; On the other end, it’s on a smaller network, is incredibly hard to pirate, is overlooked massively due to being a part of an ‘edutainment‘ channel aimed towards younger kids, has a fandom which, whilst big, can be very hard to find, and overall has less mainstream appeal in comparison to shows like SpongeBob, My Little Pony, or even The Simpsons.

Top 100 Ships (#81: Tony/Loki)
Source: Avengers (2012)
Fanfiction Rating: A-
This was the pairing that switched me from ff.net to AO3, if I remember correctly! There are almost 13,000 fics on AO3 for this pairing and there are some novel-length fics of extremely good quality.
When Did I Start Shipping Them?
I think that it was the fandom that pointed out the chemistry, and then when I watched the movie again I could really see it in the whole 'offering him a drink' scene.
Why Do I Ship Them?
At the time, I shipped FrostIron to stick it to the Captain America enjoyers of the fandom. Yes, I was a terrible high school fandom gremlin. But I think that I also shipped them because two sarcastic men with daddy issues are just a good time for reading fanfiction. They're so emotionally damaged and unavailable, and it's a fun alternative to the 'one is smarmy and one is earnest' fanfiction dynamic.
Favourite Fanfiction Tropes/Staples?
I love fics where they slowly bond while Loki is in captivity in the Avengers tower. I was a big fan of shapeshifter fics back in the day, and also ones where they were bound together by magical shenanigans.
