BUT MY GOD THIS ONE!!! I never see anyone talk about Post Mortem and I will proudly say this is my fav Wangxian fic, and one of my favorite fics period. The story is wonderful, characters r well written, beautifully paced, plot is to die for(lol). She’s an amazing author all in all so check her work out if you haven’t!!

I need to talk about Adam Taurus and James Ironwood, and why they are good characters deserving of apreciation.

You see, as much as it's true that a lot of fans of their are crazy stans who see them as men who did no wrong, I don't think it's fair to get mad and attack all the people who enjoy their characters. I do enjoy them for example.

Yes, they are terrible people, but that's what makes them good characters! I love them for playing their role well, not because I condone their actions or think they are in the right!

Let's take Adam for example. I hate him as a person, while watching the show i wanted to beat the shit out of him, and that's precisely why I love his character! He gave me emotions, and played his villain role in Blake and Yang's story arcs masterfully! It's partially thanks to him and the way he played his role that their relationship got to shine this way! He is part of why I love bumbleby so much, and I can't just ignore that.

He's the victim that turned into a monster (even if we find out specifically about that very far in his story), the wronged person who took that in the worst possible way (the fact that you got influcted pain doesn't give you the right to inflict it to others). A boy who had no control over his life that decided to get revenge and control everybody else instead. It's tragic when you think about it this way, and I love that!

Or, even more clearly, Ironwood. From the beginning we see good intentions and terrible actions, that later on, under so much stress and pressure and ptsd, just made him go down. All of his faults come from a place of untrust toward others and the idea that only he could know the best course of actions, never taking into account other people and ideas. This obsession and hero complex is what leads to his and Atlas' fall and, again, even if I really wanted to bash his head for all the stupid things he did (or wanted to do), I still loved watching him play this part and fall deeper down every episode. Again, it's sad and tragic and I love it!

This isn't meant to be a full blown analysis of the characters, but I just wanted to point out that it's unfair to be authomatically hostile towards anyone who likes their characters. I understand that so many of them are people defending their actions, and it is very frustrating (and sometimes worrying) when very clear evil actions get misinterpreted or justified by someone, but it's not like everyone is like this.

They are characters, vessels to tell a story, and people aren't just allowed to enjoy a well played part, but it's actually good being able to apreciate the executions and characterization of villains! Both understanding their roles on a "technical" level, but also understanding their characterization and why they do what they do.

I love when it makes all sense, when I completely see how a character is reasoning and it's consistent with everything else around them! It's part of what I enjoy in stories, and the fact that I do have a good time watching, analyzing and understanding them, doesn't mean I am condoning their actions. Understanding and justifying are two very different things.

So, take this post as a little show of love and apreciation for Adam Taurus and James Ironwood: you are two assholes, but you are so good at that, entertaining and you played your roles well; thank you for your service in the story!

Hey! I deleted the post since people were misinterpreting a lot of what I said and it was too much for me lol.

I gave specific examples of when they’re misinterpreting but totally agree on a lot of things you said. He’s not a good person, he’s not a morally right person. But I think he’s led by his grief and it’s morphed into an ugly hatred as he gets older and it’s totally fair to hate him because he is hateable. I think he’s extremely well written and that’s why I like his character, I just meant that people often assume and will take bits and pieces of the narrative to make him into this really really awful person from the get-go when he’s a very layered character. That’s all I was getting at.

Wei Wuxian did those things because he’s an incredibly kind and selfless person and I wholeheartedly believe he was in the right for doing those things. But his actions did contribute to the slaughter at Nightless City and he isn’t treated the way Jiang Cheng is, in fact on much of the same way his present self is only considered and that’s fine. My examples were specific for that time period, not as he grows. I think he’s super interesting because we see how his hatred has morphed into awful things and festered so awfully because he can’t let go. I was mostly referring to the ways that they take a specific example and twist it, like when he was a child. When he’s an adult to me is a separate issue, as he’s been consumed by his grief and hatred.

I’m not trying to defend him. He’s done some indefensible things. All I was saying is he’s more than an all white or all black character and people make him out to be all black often. He’s a dark grey character, sure. But it’s complicated.

Hey thank you very much, and no problem! I rarely look into notes these days when it comes to Jiang Cheng myself as I... am not a fan for either extreme ends of how he is viewed by this fandom, stans and antis (although I am apparently an anti for how I regard him so throws hands in air ¯\_(ツ)_/¯)

And I do encourage you to still write about him when able as yes I do very much agree that Jiang Cheng was morphed for the worse due to his anger and grief. Especially in tandem with his jealousy and self-worth brought on by the extreme arrogance of Madam Yu insisting he was so great, but also using him as a prop of never being good enough and being outshined by Wei Wuxian. While Jiang Fengmian essentially gave up trying to guide him because of his negligence and avoidance of doing anything to incur Madam Yu's wrath when he did act as a parent should have.

I've called him a tragic person, because he could very much have done more, not a proxy of obvious shining morality, but, at least have been will to be more supportive and loyal, if he did not grow in the environment he did that fostered the worst parts of his personality that made him so self-centered and absorbed.

He is very much as dimensionally deep as the other main characters of the work. And he very much is one of the main characters as an antagonist. Main character does not mean "one of the good guys". And it also doesn't mean that humans, despite not being "good", are also completely "evil". As we are shown the multitudes of what constitutes as evil within Mo Dao Zu Shi, and the author herself had made a strict point to not mince words for how she means for Jin Guangyao and Xue Yang to be seen as.

Setelah selesai makan, sembari menunggu dia selesai gue iseng menuang kecap sedikit ke gelas sisa berisi air jeruk, entah siapa yang memulai tapi gue inget kalo gue bilang, “lo berani minum ini ga, kalo lo minum gue minum” dia menjawab dengan senyam senyum pedenya, “berani! bener ya lo minum” dan akhirnya kita minum air jeruk yang udah di aduk-aduk sama kecap dan ketawa karna gue sendiri ga akan expect dia seberani itu. dari situ gue selalu melabeli dia manusia random di otak gue yang berani dan ya random...

Banyak hal yang dilaluin bareng dan menjadi teman dekat yang selalu supportive satu sama lain, tapi satu hal yang gue masih belum bisa waktu itu adalah membuka hati gue buat dia.

1 tahun waktu kita bersama tapi karna gue baru aja putus dan dia pun sama seinget gue, masih belum bisa move-on atau masih kepikiran mantannya, gue selalu bilang kalau gue belum bisa membuka hati karna masih belum bisa move-on, atau orang-orang sekarang sebut gamon, haha. Semakin lama dan semakin dekat gue semakin jatuh hati dan gabisa berbohong bahwa gue ada perasaan lebih, tapi karna masih memiliki unfinished business dengan mantan gue, akhirnya gue memilih menarik diri dari manusia random ini. entah bagaimana dan apa yang telah gue pikirkan diumur itu. semua terasa baik-baik saja hingga kita akhirnya tidak berkomunikasi lagi.

Takut menyakiti hati-nya lebih dari ini, tapi tidak berpikir bahwa apa yang dilakukan menyakiti hati lainnya dan dirinya sendiri.

3 tahun berlalu sampai akhirnya gue ngobrol sama abang2an dfo gue sebut saja ramdan, gue cerita kalo kenapa ya gue sekarang bener-bener mencari dan berharap bisa ketemu another odi yang sama gilanya atau lebih dan satu frekuensi sama gue bang? bisa diajak ngobrol, seru-seruan dan lainnya. tau jawaban dia apa? “di umur gue sekarang 28, gue udah ganyari lagi yang se-frekuensi ataupun yang seru kaya yang lo maksud, saran gue di umur lo yang sekarang, lo fokus aja sama diri lo dan jangan buat dia “odi” jadi patokan buat lo kedepannya” yes!. kata-kata yang menurut gue terdengar pesimis dan gamau ber-usaha lebih untuk nyari manusia random lainnya.

Tapi ternyata justru ini adalah hal yang membuka mata gue setelah gue baca tulisan blog, manusia random ini.

dan hal yang menyentil gue adalah kata-kata yang dia tulis

“meyakini kalau kamu dan dia adalah dua individu yang berbeda, dan sudah terpisah pula. kalian menjalani kehidupan berbeda dan dengan goal yang berbeda. bahkan saat kalian bersama pun, sangat mungkin pelajaran yang kalian pelajari dalam hubugan tersebut berbeda. apalagi setelah berpisah kan? jadi sudah tidak ada alasan untuk menyama-nyamakan  perjalanan dan pilihan yang masing-masing ambil.”

“lagipula kalau terus membandingkan, secara tidak langsung kamu menaruh standarmu pada dia, padahal journey-nya beda, pelajarannya beda, dan mungkin kamu bisa melesat tinggi ke direction yang lain.”

mungkin kata-kata yang odi tulis diamaksudkan untuk manusia lainnya, tapi buat gue ini bener-bener bisa buat semua cerita gue, mulai buat orang lain dan kehidupan gue ataupun pilihan perjalanan hidup yang selalu gue pertanyakan, haha.

Bangchan

Semalam baru saja ngetweet “I could make an A4 long essay on this 01.33 clip” of Bangchan singing Connected in Bangkok (including the part when his voice cracked – not that badly – tapi ya namanya juga bocil ye, si Lino ketawa kenceng banget). So, since I am now not in the mood of doing my real job (I really should be writing that introduction section of my pyrolysis paper, but oh well it’s Friday already so why won’t we take this day slow; it’s weekend soon anyway), I would write my essay on Bangchan now. Research questionnya adalah: why Bangchan is worth your time and how in the world I fall in love with this one man??? (walaupun my ult bias di skz tentu saja masih lino dan bias wrecker adalah hanjisung, but chan has a special place in my heart always).

I’m not sorry for my usual tumblr reader, dari sekarang dan dari dulu tapi udah tahu lah ya harusnya, ini tumblr memang works as my personal journal. So, my entry for today adalah simping over Bangchan. Enjoy!

He sings REALLY WELL -- Ini mah gausah dijelasin lagi lah ya. Tinggal dengerin aja lagu-lagunya doi. My fav songs showcasing Chan’s singing skill would be: Connected, i hate to admit, voice, slump.

He composes songs – real artist indeed -- Ini juga tinggal dengerin semua lagu stray kids lol. You’d realize how genius he is.

His leadership skill??? -- Might not be the easiest one to see karena buat lihat ini sepertinya harus banyak-banyak nonton live dia dan interview. Tapi kalau nonton 2kidsroom dan onekidsroom pasti mulai dapet pieces of leadership actionnya Chan. Oh! Sama yang paling kelihatan lagi di Kingdom, dan di concert ment. OMG have you seen the Maniac Seoul one yang dia nangis bilang mau protect all of us stays and the members and the staff??? We couldn’t necessarily see his leadership skill but lanjut ke No. 4 di bawah ini, lebih ke how heartbreaking and how hard it must be for him to not getting the love he deserved since very young….

Just the fact that he left home since he was very young and managed to survive in a very unfamiliar environment since a young age -- Ku baru meninggalkan rumah fully setelah lulus S1, 2015 – when I was 22 years old… And I felt like that was when I started finding myself(?). Being away from your family means you have to take care of yourself. And just to imagine if I had to do that since I was 15??? Plus the training system di Korea yang super hard to young people… No wonder mereka jadinya super strong banget sekarang (mentally dan physically), masih gangerti sama komentar toxic stan twitter yang mikir kalau orang-orang dari big company didn’t struggle as hard. Come on, they all WORKED so hard bahkan sampai sebelum debut. Mang pada jahat aja congor u semua.

He talks a lot, like… he always has something to say -- Just the fact that he has weekly live show: Chan’s Room to talk and communicate with Stays for an hour shows us that he cares to us and has something to talk about. I don’t fully agree to all the things he said (sometimes he said things that were quite controversial and very opiniated, but I could understand where he’s coming from). I am not saying that I love people who’s all about talk, but I personally just find people who talks…. hot(?) I guess(?). It just shows how they think (ini cukup explainable karena ku sendiri personally nggak banyak ngomong dan mikir dan beropini, most of the time I just said “well I have no opinion on that”, but not Chan).

Wow ini udah page ke-2 dan ini bahkan gaada hubungannya samsek sama video yang ku RT lol. Anyway, tapi iya itu sekian my writing on Bangchan. Ngga akan relatable at all sih sama… siapapun unless kalian Bangchan-biased, tapi yaudah this is just me taking my time to get what is in my brain out.
