(Also glad that I'm still able to comment, it's better than nothing, but it's funny that the only thing I can't do with my blog is the only thing dimitri can do)
They’ve really T-boned something. Clearly not intended behaviour, cus if it was thinking you’re a bot you’d be in dimi’s situation, not able to spam replies as much as you want.
I’ve been having problems all week with the site randomly crashing full dead as a doornail sometimes if I try to reblog or reply to a post. But last 24 hours it’s also doing a full 50:50 roll as to whether it will load any given image or not.

hello! I love your art and im wondering what app you use and what pens do you use on that app? :dD
hi! first of all, thank you :) i'm glad you enjoy my art. sorry it took me so long to answer, but here it is, as detailed as i could make it
what program:
i've been using autodesk sketchbook (for drawing) & paint tool sai 2 (for filters, cropping, etc) for several years. i'm very very fond of sketchbook and i believe it to be the best entry program for beginners (and especially people who are moving from traditional to digital art, since the majority of the brushes available for AS are imitations of traditional tools. it even has a library of copic colors!) due to its simple and intuitive interface. this is both its biggest advantage and flaw: while the brush catalog is quite big and you can play with the settings a lot, there aren't that many features you can use as opposed to something like clip studio paint or even sai; it’s a very bare bones type of art program.
some things i personally find irritating (but have learned to work around) are the lack of image flipping function (instead i have to mirror the entire layer or canvas, which becomes troublesome on canvases with a lot of layers (although i assume it’s mostly due to my laptop being pretty old)), inability to have multiple canvases open at once, lack of clipping mask, somewhat clunky process of creating custom shaped brushes (nigh impossible to make an unbreaking string of a shape, e.g embroidery or lingerie), lack of water fringe function, clunky text & color adjustment editors, etc etc.
if you’ve previously used a more complex art program you might find sketchbook lacking in a lot of ways, but personally after years of usage i can safely say that it’s my favorite program i’ve ever worked with. i really love the overall simplicity of the interface (i’ve tried to switch to csp several times throughout the years but ended up being overwhelmed by the number of features), and i’m a big fan of AS’s selection tool. if you’ve never heard of sketchbook before, i urge you to give it a try! they provide a helpful manual on their site.
now, AS used to be free for all platforms (both pc and mobile), but iirc a couple years ago the program changed owners and the new company decided to remake the pc version as “autodesk pro” & charge $20 for it (although mobile is still free). which is fine i suppose since i hear that it’s being updated again (previous owners made it free in the first place because they essentially abandoned its development & stopped releasing updates). but i’m also a huge fan of piracy so here’s a .zip file of the version i downloaded when it was still available (it might be outdated, but at least its free! and if you decide that you like the program, you can always one-time-purchise it later from their official website). the archive contains the setup.exe as well as a folder containing all of the brushes i use in my art process (i’ll talk about them further below). if you ever find the link not working anymore feel free to send an ask or message me for a new one.
what brushes:
here are all of the brushes i use as seen on my toolbar. the majority of them are brushes that i made myself, which is why a lot of them have weird names; the ones that have numbers in the title are just me writing down previous value settings (usually for roundness, rotation & edge) so that i dont forget them after i inevitably tweak the settings again. don’t pay them much attention.
Tumblr media
left column is basically decorative brushes. here they are from top to bottom:
Tumblr media
right column is brushes that i actually draw with:
Tumblr media
i specified what each one is used for just so you get the basic idea but in reality i pretty much use them interchangeably for literally anything i feel like at the time. i also tweak the settings a lot so the overall look fluctates pretty often.
the folder in the zip file i provided has the .skbrushes (sketchbook’s custom brush format) file for the entire set. here is a guide on how to upload custom brushes.
i think that’s all! if you have any more questions, feel free to ask. i promise i will reply faster this time, lol

So if your PDF uses an uncommon font, your best strategy is to select the text, switch to a similar font included with Sejda, and then make your edits. Sejda struggles more with editing text using custom fonts than other PDF editors (as you can see with the italics text above). Among those single-purpose tools is a surprisingly feature-filled PDF Editor that, yes, lets you edit text and add form fields for free. It’s designed around a set of tools to rearrange pages in PDFs, merge documents, crop or rotate pages, add headers and footers with page numbers, recognize text with OCR, split PDFs into smaller documents, and more. Need to edit text in a PDF? Sejda is the rare free PDF editor that can edit text or add form fields to a PDF.

We also tried to find the software with the best value for price-and found four apps that stood out as the best tools to edit, collaborate, and convert PDF files. We looked at both PDF annotation and editor apps in this roundup, checking to see how they displayed PDF documents, if they worked well, and if they could edit PDFs without deeply changing how the original PDF document looked. They can also create new PDF documents and forms from scratch. When you need to replace an image, change the text in a PDF, add new form fields, or edit anything else in a PDF, they're the apps you need. These tools-including Adobe Acrobat, Foxit, and more-often look like Office apps with detailed toolbars and menus, and can cost hundreds of dollars.
Adobe pdf reader app professional#
The most professional PDF software is PDF editor apps. You can't change the core, original PDF text-but you can add to it much like you might write notes on a printed document. These let you add comments to PDFs, rearrange pages, add shapes and arrows to call out things in the document, and insert new text blocks and images into the PDF. Then there are PDF annotation apps, including macOS Preview, Xodo, and most mobile PDF apps. They're built to help you read PDF files like you would a book, and help you flip to the page you want, search through the book, highlight text, and perhaps fill out PDF forms and sign them digitally. The PDF apps you've likely used the most-Adobe Reader, Apple iBooks, Windows Reader-are PDF reader apps.

Step 1 – Open the File in Adobe Acrobat Reader Here are step-by-step instructions to use Adobe Acrobat Reader to open PDF files and use the tools to add notes or comments. TechnoKids even includes separate digital copies of every assignment so that students can easily complete and track their work electronically. With the tools in Adobe Reader, these questions can be answered digitally, a bonus for the paperless classroom. Often TechnoKids assignments ask students to fill in the blanks, write a planner, complete a quiz, or check items in a checklist. You can use Adobe Acrobat Reader to open and read files, but it has some additional features that allow you to comment, or annotate, the PDF document. Which PDF reader will you use to view the documents? There are lots of free and paid PDF readers but you may already have Adobe Acrobat Reader on your computer. TechnoKids Teacher Guides and Student Workbooks are in PDF format.

A Beginner’s Guide to Web Development
Have you ever tried to build a website but didn’t know where to begin?
Or you have reached out to a web design agency in Sydney and felt lost in the process.
If so, then this guide is for you!
We’ll introduce you to the basics of web development, including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. By the end of this guide, you’ll have a better understanding of how web development works and be able to get more involved in the process!
Tumblr media
The Basics of Web Development
Web development is nothing but creating and maintaining websites. It encompasses everything from the front-end and back-end coding of websites to designing user interfaces and managing servers.
Web developers use a combination of programming languages and frameworks to build websites. Some most popular computer programming languages for website development include:
HTML (HyperText Markup Language) — structures content on web pages.
CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) — used to style content on web pages.
JavaScript — adds interactivity to web pages.
Many different frameworks are available for web developers depending on their
needs. Some popular frameworks include React, Angular, and Vue.js.
React, a JavaScript library is used for user interface creation. Angular (TypeScript-based) is an open-source web application framework. And, Vue.js is an open-source MVVM (Model-View-ViewModel) framework that can be used with various combinations of tools and libraries.
In addition to programming languages and frameworks, web developers also need to be proficient in other skills such as server administration, database management, and user experience design.
Types of Web Development
Web development has different types that one can master. Have a look!
Front-end Development: Front-end developers are responsible for the user-facing side of websites. They create the layout, graphics, navigation, and other visual elements.
Back-end Development: The back-end, in contrast to the front end, is what users do not see. Back-end web developers focus on the website’s servers, applications, and software.
Full Stack Development: Full-stack developers work on both the front and back end of a website. They are experts in designing an entire website from start to end.
Website Development: These experts focus on creating websites rather than mobile apps, desktop programmes, or video games.
Desktop Development: Desktop developers create software apps that operate on your device (locally) rather than via the Internet in a web browser.
Mobile Development: Mobile developers create apps for mobile devices like smartphones and tablets.
Game Development: Game developers write code for video games — console (Xbox, PlayStation, etc.), PC, and mobile games.
Embedded Development: Embedded developers deal with hardware that is not a computer. This covers electronic interfaces, consumer electronics, IoT (Internet of Things) hardware, and more.
Security Development: Security developers provide strategies and procedures for ensuring the safety of a website or software programme. For example, ethical hackers.
The Process of Web Development
Now that we’ve learnt the basics of web development let’s move on to the website development process.
1. Create a plan
First, you’ve got to have a plan. It’s crucial to engage with teams and staff members across your company to build a plan for your website before even touching the computer.
To create the initial draft of your website, think about the following:
What do you want your website to achieve?
Who is your target audience?
What do you want your audience to do on the website?
What kind of website do you create?
What content do you want to publish?
How often do you want to publish content?
How much can you spend?
2. Establish a wireframe
A wireframe is what programmers refer to as the blueprint of a website. It’s a visual tool that makes you understand where the images and text go on different web pages. It doesn’t have to be a formal document; it may just be your site’s vision, which will tell you where to start.
You may use resources such as:
Invision,
Slickplan, or
Mindnode
Otherwise, you simply draw it on a whiteboard.
3. Site map
Like a business plan, a sitemap provides a developer with the details needed to accomplish your concept.
When designing your site, consider the following:
Which specific pages would you like?
What will be the content of the pages?
How may those pages be divided into categories?
What is the page hierarchy on your site?
What categories (and pages) are important to the operation of your website?
4. Code for your website
From the front end to the back end of your website, developers use different coding languages.
HTML creates the base structure of a website, and CSS and JavaScript are used to improve it.
5. Create the website’s front end
The front-end components are vital as they influence how your website’s visitors, clients, and visitors interact with it.
In front-end programming, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS are often used together. Moreover, it manages elements like typography and fonts, navigation, placement, and the responsiveness and compatibility of browsers.
Here, the elements included in your wireframe will be reflected. However, this tends to become obsolete far faster than back-end programming as technology and user tastes evolve.
6. Obtain a domain name
Your website will now need an IP address. Also, it needs a suitable domain name.
Websites like GoDaddy might be familiar to you. With the help of these services, you may purchase a domain name and register it. The majority of domain registrations last for a year before needing renewal.
You may also get a domain name using website builders and hosting providers like WordPress and Squarespace.
7. Publish the website
Once you have connected your registered domain to your host, you’re almost ready to launch your website for the world.
So double-check everything one last time and launch!
Conclusion:
Web development is a complex field that encompasses many different skills and technologies.
So, we’ve only scratched the surface of what’s involved in web development. But this should help you in your web development in Brisbane.

Top social media marketing tips for a better ROI in business?
More than 77% of marketers use at least one social media site to promote their business. Only 48%, though, are getting a good return on investment. Therefore, while most see social media marketing's promise, many do not experience success.
For businesses of all shapes and sizes, industries, and target audiences, social media is a key component of digital marketing.
The environment is constantly evolving due to updates and new products; therefore, in order for businesses to take advantage of social media, they must stay current on these changes.
Tumblr media
What is ROI(Return On Investment)?
Your investments in the business are the time and money you devote to enhancing your enterprise. The profit you realize from your investments is the return.
The ratio of net profit to the entire investment cost is how Return on investment is typically defined.
When Return on investment determines the benefits and monetary returns of your investment, it is most helpful to your business goals when it pertains to something specific and measurable. The most common technique of analyzing investments is in terms of their monetary cost because it is the simplest to measure. However, it is also possible to compute ROI considering time as an investment.
Why is social media important for better ROI in business?
Social media can assist you in communicating with your clients and learning what others are saying about your company. Social media is also useful for marketing, giving away free stuff, and developing mobile apps.
Businesses can use social media to attract customers, gather feedback from them, and increase customer loyalty. They can also expand their reach into international markets, conduct market research, lower their marketing expenses, boost sales through customer networks and advertising, build their brands, exchange ideas to improve how they operate, and hire qualified staff, for instance, through job networking sites like LinkedIn, increase website traffic, and enhance search engine rankings.
Top social media marketing tips for better ROI
Here are some social media marketing tips for better ROI in business:
Choose the right social platform:
You must choose the platform that is most appropriate for your business. There are many platforms for social media, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, Pinterest, YouTube, and others.
These platforms operate differently and with a specific audience. Facebook establishes casual connections with users. It is a forum where people express their opinions and talk about politics, feelings, and other topics.
With the help of LinkedIn, you can establish professional connections with a specific target. Unlike Pinterest and Instagram, which are both mostly optical networks, YouTube focuses on video content.
Measure your social media performance:
You need to accurately track and measure your work to ensure that your marketing on social media is yielding the optimum outcomes. There is no straightforward way to determine whether your plan is effective because more than 40% of firms do not effectively analyze their social media Return on investment.
Find the main indicators that are crucial to your brand and use them to streamline your tracking process. Weekly, monthly, and quarterly metrics tracking will help determine when and if your social media approach should change.
Content marketing:
Consistent care gives an optimum strategy. You cannot simply target the entire audience and expect to generate traffic. As a result, you must be able to stick to your plans and company goals.
The best thing to do is to put your energy into developing your writing, curating, and delivery skills. While composing the material, one must keep the target audience in mind.
Additionally, it must contain data particular to the industry. If you've tried using a certain social media site but haven't been successful, feel free to switch to another one, use it, and find the proper kind of content.
Social media helps to identify the Target audience:
Each brand has a certain group of customers on whom it focuses all of its offerings. In order to develop a successful marketing strategy, it is essential to establish a specific buyer persona.
Social media aids in assembling a clientele to whom you may sell your goods or services. It will assist you in developing a strategy that will benefit your brand. To do this, gather information about your clients and learn how they perceive your brand by conducting a survey.
Collaborate with influencers:
Gaining the audience's trust on platforms overrun with content is one of the most difficult parts of sustaining a social media presence. Partnering with influencers in your niche to help you advertise your products more naturally is a terrific method to target your audience more specifically.
You introduce your business to a new audience that may not be familiar with your firm when you collaborate with an existing influencer with a sizable following in your niche.
Paid Advertisement:
You will have the opportunity to market your brand on several social media platforms. You can also advocate for certain messages to gain immediate influence over your followers. By simply boosting posts and running fast social media campaigns, you will be able to drastically increase ROI.
Also, long-term ROI from followers you've lately attracted who, in most cases, never would have discovered you otherwise. Consider paid brand promotions to increase your company's return on investment.
Engage your audience:
Interacting with your followers and the people you wish to interact with is the immediate goal of the social networking site. And if you don't, it'll just end up becoming a marketing tool. As a result, your supporters won't be able to put their faith in you.
When you post something and think one of your followers may find it interesting, be sure to tag them. This will add a touch of personalization. Additionally, they will sense exclusivity. If you don't provide links in your post and encourage followers to take action, they won't know what you want them to do. Include links to their blogs, websites, or a call to action (CTA).
Retargeting campaign:
By interacting with users who have already interacted with and expressed interest in your ads and products with retargeting ads, you may enhance ROI on social media.
Users that have been to your website participated in prior campaigns or have abandoned products in the appropriate shopping carts you can target.
There is a good probability that you could attract this group of users with a brief reminder because they have previously demonstrated their interest.
Hire a professional manager:
Behind every effective social marketing campaign is a strategic thinker. Therefore, before hiring someone, businesses must consider their qualifications. Discuss both the short-term and long-term objectives as well. To ensure success, make sure they comprehend how you want things to proceed and interact with your followers.
It takes more than just coming up with and putting into practice techniques to run a successful social media campaign. To achieve optimum effectiveness, it is more important to create a schedule and manage each of your postings. So, when interviewing the applicants, you've chosen to shortlist and search for organizing qualities.
Your brand's voice will represent by a social media manager. They must therefore be effective enough to reach your intended audience. A social media manager needs to be familiar with the brand. They must also be professional and have good grammar.
Focus on messaging:
Every platform you use will have a distinct target audience. Even while the audience you're aiming for on each platform likely overlaps, it's still crucial to understand your statistics so you can customize your message for the most impact.
Your ability to produce higher-quality, brand-consistent material that connects with your audience will aid by having a clear message. You can rely on your social media posts to always be pertinent to your audience when you have a clear topic that you stick to.
Follow trends:
Keep an eye out for developing trends on each channel. It's a terrific idea to take advantage of a pattern or tactic that is becoming more popular and coincides with your brand in order to increase interaction.
Avoid following every new internet fad you come across. A fast method to turn off your target audience is to create posts that don't fit with your overall narrative in an effort to appear relevant. You shouldn't just start producing a certain kind of content because you see other businesses doing it.
Keep track of competitors:
In order to swiftly determine which specific areas your competitors excel in, you must examine both their approach and your competitors.
This makes it possible for you to decide where you need to improve. Additionally, their approach can provide you inspiration or an idea that, with a little creative license, you might include in your own social media plan.
.
Here are some of the things you should check: their overall number of followers and the frequency and timing of their posts.
Conclusion
Although using social media for your business might appear the easiest, it's the trickiest. It's not easy to create a successful social media brand. Many business owners start with a strategy to improve their social media branding and digital presence with enthusiasm but eventually give up.
Quitting always seems to be the best course of action in these situations when you start to get unsatisfactory outcomes. You should expect a favorable outcome from social media strategies for your business, even though results take time to show.

Hi Steph!
I’m sorry it’s my first time sending you an ask, so I dunno which button I clicked man. Sorry about that.
Ok, so what I wanted to request! I love your blog. You’re really kind and genuine, and I’ve found some great fics to light up my day from here. But sometimes, the posts are suuupppeeerr long, and I may not be looking for this info exactly? Like it clogs up a lot of my dash. So I wanted to request if you could use a “read more” feature after a brief, at least for the fic rec posts.
I hope I didn’t offend or anything. Thank u for all the kindness you put into the world each day. Have a good day fren!
Hey Nonny!
Ahh, okay, you’re not going to like what I am going to say, but you are very respectful and were smart and sandwiched your issue in compliments, so Ahhhh, I feel conflicted now.
With all due respect Nonny, this is my blog and I get more engagement on my lists if people can see the full list; many people prefer it that way, and honestly I get crapped on either way, so I’ve made the executive decision to not cut my posts. The only time I do is on “second” reblog on super long LONG lists so that I have a “cut” and “uncut” version of the post, but even those I’ve been reducing.
I’ve tried both ways, and full posts get better notice. All I want to do is share my love of fics and content with y’all, and the best way to do that is to just have it all there so people know what they’re getting.
Plus, am I to just “readmore” every single reply on my posts? A lot of the reason my blog has stayed as long as it has is because I’ve always been a very interactive blog. People LIKE seeing their replies added to a comment thread on my post, and it helps smaller blogs get noticed. It’s not much on the surface, but I’ve had smaller blogs come to me DELIGHTED that their name is now attached to one of my posts that are going through a “popular reblog cycle” (that is, a post that is being interacted with for a good few days before I actually finally add it to the month-reblog queue). It helps create a sense of community, I feel, and that’s one of the things I am very honoured to be: a starting place for community.
And this is just in a general sense and NOT directed at you, more at the people who shit on me in the notes of my long posts, but I don’t GET people getting upset about my TEXT BASED POST WITH NO IMAGES IN IT, but not on any of the image or playlist posts I reblog, which take FOREVER to load on mobile. I GENUINELY don’t get it. I don’t even use the app on my phone, I’m logged into the browser on my phone, because the app is garbage.
The problem is the app, in my opinion. That’s the gist of it. It loads slow, it scrolls terribly, and the UI is annoying, but instead app users blame the bloggers and not the fact that Tumblr staff ignore every suggestion we make. And because more of the newer people use their mobiles these days, us old-time Tumblr users are expected to microblog like the shitty sites that are Twitter or Facebook. Tumblr is a blogging platform, like LiveJournal, laid out all nicely and clean and honestly, (the royal you) you’re getting exactly what you signed up for: long posts, opinions, and interaction. If one wants shitty layouts, shitty comment threads you can’t follow and reactionaries, go to Twitter. Call me a boomer, whatever, I just find Tumblr so much more appealing now more than ever.
Sorry, I’ve needed to get this off my chest for awhile now. I don’t know. Maybe I’m being pedantic. I don’t care, really. My thoughts on this: if (the royal) you don’t like the content, or find stuff annoying, don’t follow me.
Because you know what a lot of my longest posts are? Helpline numbers at the bottom of posts. Useful links. And just stuff that make people happy. People in despair are not going to click on a read more of a post. People who want links to resources aren’t going to click on a read more. People who just want happiness after a stressful day are literally just scrolling to smile, and they ain’t gonna click a read more.
YES, there are reasons read mores are good, absolutely. I just PERSONALLY don’t like them because I like engagement. I don’t get much of it anymore on my posts, EXCEPT the fic rec posts, and THOSE work better as a full view.
BUT NONNY PLEASE KNOW I AM NOT UPSET AT ALL WITH YOU, and you’ve given me a great opportunity to discuss this thing that I’ve put off for awhile because the other people were less-than-kind, and it only made me NOT address it out of simple spite because I’m nothing if not a passive aggressive old lady.
So, here are a few ideas you can implement:
If you like my posts but not the longest ones, I always tag them “long post”. Tumblr finally has its own tag blocking feature, so just block “long post”. All of my very long lists will be blocked, and you can decide if you want to click on them based on what the additional tags are. I try my best to tag all my lists appropriately.
Similarly, you can “tag block” my username, and only click on the posts you like the tags for.
DON’T TAKE THIS THE WRONG WAY, PLEASE, this isn’t a “so there!” comment, I promise!!: You can unfollow me if you’re only following me for the fic lists, and instead follow me on Twitter at @inevitablyjohn1, which is used only to promote my new lists and art. Every Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday I post up the Wednesday Reblog, Five Fics Friday, Fic Rec Roundup, and Fic Rec Sunday, with a link to each post :) Then you’ll get all the lovely full lists I post 4 times a week. OF COURSE, this is the option I don’t want to happen, because I love all my lovelies and you’ll miss out on the random fics, insightful asks, and suggestions I get throughout the week, BUT I want you to enjoy your time on Tumblr, and if my blog is causing you stress, it’s the last thing I want to happen. I love all of y’all too much to see that!
THAT ALL SAID, Nonny, I’m really sorry to disappoint you, and I hope you understand my POV on this. I just don’t see any benefit on my part, for MY blog, which I run for MY happiness which has the side effect of making other people happy. I also hope you will still stick around regardless, but I care about your well being and I understand if you have to leave.
AND everyone, please don’t be harsh on this Nonny! They asked a question respectfully and deserve our respect in kind.
I truly wish you the loveliest of days, Nonny, and have a great week! <3

Hello again, same anon here as the one thanking you for reccing word of honor *waves* the thing is I've caught up with all the episodes on YouTube now and I seem to remember that you (or maybe someone else?) said that you could watch more episodes somewhere with premium access or something? Could you please point me in the right direction? Because I really don't want to wait any longer? Haha, it really got me I guess :D I'm in ep 21 and getting the plot a bit more now, like you said I would, and I'm just enjoying the show so much :) especially the character dynamics. It also doesn't hurt that zishu (sorry idk his actors name) has an unfairly perfect face, like esp his side profile is just oh my god, how is he even real
Hullo, Word of Honor anon! 👋
Youku has all of the Word of Honor episodes translated into english, although you need a premium VIP account in order to watch the later ones.
Although I think some people might have found a way around it if they have android phones now, in order to get a premium VIP pass outside of China you’ll need to be able to use Apple Pay. It’s also easier to make your account via an app on a phone or iPad - you can always access the site via a computer later to actually watch the series itself. Apple Pay is the way I brought myself an account, so I can say for certainty that it works. Since Youku’s website is completely in Chinese, there are tutorials about to help navigate the website and to both a) make an account and b) make a payment. The ones I used were:
@baoshan-sanren + @minmoyu‘s guides - the first is an incredibly useful tutorial on how to make an account, so I would follow that first. Make sure that once you get to inputting your phone number, you change the number in the drop down box for whatever area code your country is. For example, as I live in the UK, I had to change mine so the number was ‘+44′, as that’s the number which is used to contact someone when you’re outside that direct country. You then need to put in the next ten digits of your mobile number, cutting off whatever the first number is you usually have. The second guide which @baoshan-sanren kindly links to in the above linked post is one that guides you on how to get a VIP membership once you’re signed into your new account.
I also used this twitter tutorial - it goes through the same steps as the above one that was shared here on tumblr, but I particularly found this useful for knowing what sort of VIP package I wanted to subscribe to on Youku. Like most streaming services there are multiple packages, from the cheaper ones to more expensive, longer term ones. If, like me you only want to use your Youku subscription to be able to gain earlier access to watch Word of Honor’s episode ahead of YouTube and Amazon Prime’s releases, you’ll likely only need the very basic package, which is a months subscription. Make sure you collect the monthly subscription as labelled in the post - it’s a reduced rate (it’s actually a reduced rate for three months, but you can cancel it as soon as you’ve brought it to only pay for one month). My subscription payment came to £2.79 for a whole month, which is very reasonable! My only advice is that if you don’t intend to renew your subscription, make sure you turn off auto renewal via your phones subscription settings.
There’s also an easter egg episode 37, which is small but includes an additional ending for Zhou Zishu and Wen Kexing that isn’t in episode 36. This is one of a few extra episodes I think they plan to release, but you have to also pay to access it (I think the price is something like 3 Yuan which isn’t very expensive). However, if by that point you want to watch the special episode but don’t want to buy it, it is floating around tumblr already with a subbed translation 😊
Hope this helps for you! If you have any questions at all do ask, as I know it can be a bit confusing. It took me a few tries to make sure I got everything right, but it definitely works!
As for Zhou Zishu and his perfect everything, I agree with you so much anon! It’s literally a case of ‘have you ever seen a man so beautiful’? 😭 No wonder why Wen Kexing fell for him so quickly. After all ...

Sub!Abby/Dom!Nora Headcannons
Warnings:
Warning for lifestyle BDSM and sexually explicit content. There’s swearing and some use of a sexist slur (but only between two women for kinky name-calling reasons.) Body piercing and the strain of working as medic are mentioned. So are sub/Dom drop. There is some switching. Also, I do get increasingly gooey and hurt/comfort near the end.
Some of these got sexied up by @pinkchubbiebunnie in her post on this subject so they may look familiar ❤️
As usual no read more because the Tumblr app and Timblr mobile site SUCK. Apologies.
Now let’s get kinky:
Abby is envy about how Nora can always seem so cool and confident while she is just dripping mess so often.
Even more so because Nora can just naturally and breezily go from talking to Abby normally to talking like she owns her (coz she does) and back again as other people enter and leave earshot while Abby is always unsubtly clearing her throat whenever someone walks in.
In fact, she’s so scared she’ll accidentally call Nora Sir in front of someone else one day that she has literally planned exactly how she will make it out to be a joke just in case she needs to save face.
Abby envies this even more because she knows that Nora isn’t any less prone to feeling insecure or having lapses in confidence than she is, she’s just way better at hiding it.
Even when she really wants to fight back or be a brat, Abby just physically cannot, like her muscles just melt or rebel at even the idea of defying Nora because they know who they belong to.
Abby sometimes tries to avoid getting patched up by Nora especially if it’s not in private bc she knows she’ll be in trouble if there’s any signs she was reckless.
She feels torn about that though because even while she’s getting the look of “You know what a bad girl you’ve been and you know you are gonna pay for it” she still feels so soothed by Nora’s touch.
But Abby’s efforts to control who treats her make no difference anyhow because Nora knows exactly what she’s up to even though she doesn’t let on. Nora only lets Abby get patched up by someone else if Abby’s injuries are way minor.
The other medics figure that’s just a regular protective gf thing, which it totally is as well but it’s also about being possessive over who might be involved in any lasting/permanent marks on what’s hers.
Being in control with Abby soothes some of Nora’s work-related traumas. Her opinion as a medic is held in high regard for the most part but some soldiers are just too stubborn with medical advice. It can be pretty rough on Nora when she knows a patient of hers isn’t going to listen, no matter what she says, and will go back out too early and sometimes wind up returning dead or dying. So it’s really soothing that when it comes to the person she loves most in the world, she doesn’t have these worries.
Nora makes Abby do menial manual things quite a lot, she’s actually ambivalent about making Abby do this kinda stuff, or at least she would be ambivalent about it if it wasn’t so blatant that Abby loves just being treated like her grunt muscle.
They’re actually pretty much the same intelligence-wise, but Abby simps for how much medical and hospital logistics knowledge Nora has and just has warm fuzzies getting to be her trained pet taking orders and knowing there’s well-planned logistics but not knowing herself what they are. It’s like the opposite of being a soldier and needing to be observant, she can just be switched-off eye candy trusting in someone else.
Needless to say, Nora loves said eye candy. Abby doesn’t get to wear too much in their apartment unless it’s really cold.
She’d never admit it, but Nora low-key wants Abby to call her Daddy and hates that with what happened to Jerry she can’t ever see herself risking bringing that up with Abby.
She resents that even more bc she (correctly) feels sure that Abby would’ve absolutely loved that.
Abby can always tell, even in a busy place, whether it’s Nora or someone else snapping their fingers.
When Nora snaps her fingers, the rest of the world disappears. Like instant subspace, Abby could be next to clicker and forget all about it instant.
Nora gives the subtlest, carefully considered hints of underlying affection while seemingly objectifying Abby and it’s just exactly what her pet beefcake needs to feel that undercurrent of love while she gets off on being used.
Abby spends that much time on her knees that she sometimes forgets that Nora isn’t actually taller than her.
And not just on her knees eating Nora out (though she does that a lot) but just generally kneeling like a good girl for Sir.
Abby would physically drool over the idea of wearing a collar 24/7 if she thought about it for too long. Nora would physically drool if she looked at Abby wearing a collar for too long.
Abby is free to masturbate alone when she wants to but she’s not allowed to orgasm from it. She’s never broken that rule and she’d actually be upset if she somehow did come with Nora’s permission.
She worries it might be a little messed-up to feel this way but Nora really enjoys knowing that she’s only partner that has made Abby orgasm. Sorry not sorry Owen, you did not seem good in bed.
Abby ends up being such a good girl that Nora decides to start giving her regular maintenance punishments because Abby doesn’t like to go too long without one.
Nora is near constantly torn between how much she enjoys Abby fingers inside her versus how much she enjoys seeing the intense pining when she doesn’t let Abby do that for a while.
That’s Nora’s favourite problem to have.
Remember the Abby’s hair + rope bondage fantasy? Yeah, Nora is a pro at that.
Nora uses Abby’s braid like a leash, and tells Abby that wherever she is, anytime her hair is braided then she’s basically wearing her leash.
Abby tries so hard not to think about that on patrol, but if there isn’t any actual danger to keep her busy, she sometimes can’t help but think about it.
Abby keeps an eye out for suitable jewellery, and if she ever found some she would love for Nora to pierce her navel or one of her nipples.
When Nora gets Dom-drop Abby carries Nora in her arms so she can hold her tight and feel her strength while she tells her how much she loves her and loves their relationship. Nora feels kinda weightless with the way Abby holds her and it’s so reassuring.
When Abby gets sub-drop Nora wraps herself around Abby from behind, skin-to-skin, and leans her face in next to Abby’s. She strokes her neck and whispers praise.
They don’t switch often because they’re pretty full-on lifestyle but when they have a kind of switchy playtime sometimes where Abby gets to run riot with all her brute force strength, picking Nora up, pining her down, manhandling her. She undresses her roughly then mocks Nora for “thinking you’re always in charge when the truth is I could take you down in an instant,” then picks her up by her shoulders and holds her there so her arms and legs dangle in the air, just wanting to prove that she’s powerless. Abby enjoys getting her own back by embarrassing Nora for once, and she likes to hold their faces very close so she can spot the slight changes in the hue of her skin when she makes Nora blush. “You thought you could hide your blushes from me? I know you too well for that, darling. That pretty face of yours can’t keep any secrets from me. No more than the rest of your body. I don’t even need to look or touch to know that you’ll dripping wet for me by now. That little sting of shame burning your cheeks always makes you a needy little bitch, doesn’t it?”
When they’re having those switchy scenes, Nora gets off on denial. No-one is really sure if it’s a power play that intensifies Abby’s status as (temporary) Dom because she edges and torments Nora but never lets her come, or whether it’s actually the opposite, intensifying their background dynamic because in that respect Abby gets a lot less power when she plays Dom.
Either way, Nora finishes up blissfully satisfied about her lack of satisfaction. Even more so because the next time they play, Nora back as Dom and Abby back remembering that all the muscles in the world won’t stop her from being Nora’s little bitch, she’ll make Abby plead to be allowed to give Sir an orgasm.
Abby begs harder than she ever does for her own orgasms.
A fact with makes Nora feel like a goddess, whilst also being so much fun to rub Abby’s nose in.
“Aww listen to little Abby beg just to please me. She likes to think she’s so strong with all that time in the gym. But no amount of time keeping up that facade will change the reality, Abigail. Deep down, you’re no big, strong brute, just a helpless little girl. My helpless ickle pet, so desperate for approval you’d do anything to please me, wouldn’t you?”
Abby melts then admits Nora is right.
Then Nora tells Abby only one of them of them gets to come tonight and makes Abby decide who it is.
She always chooses Nora.
And never regrets it.
And in amongst all kink of it, that makes Nora feel so nurtured.
Fair warning: this is where it becomes obvious that FEELINGS are my ultimate kink onto which all other kinks collapse...
Yeah, there’s that intense thing where it’s like the way a sub can adore you and nurtures you that makes it so much easier to be strong and tough than it would otherwise be, and dealing with everything in that world and all the injuries Nora and having to be strong with all the horrors, it’s like it’s easier for Nora to be strong in all the ways she needs to just to live that life.
They like doing little things to look after each other because they both know the feeling where they are assumed to be super tough and don’t need to be nurtured but ofc they need and deserve softness.
This ship makes me wish I had the words to explain how all the kinky stuff is low-key so soft imo.
Abby doesn’t get into much trouble but one way she sometimes does is being too much of an overprotective gf when other people are involved.
Oh and Dom or not, Nora is still little spoon and sleeps 1000% better for it.
Hope y’all liked these. AMA (esp anything kinky) about Abby/Nora or Abby/Ellie or other ships I ship because I have the feels.

Taskade is The Only App You Need for Work-Life Productivity
Tumblr media
Forget email drafts, notes programs and to Do list supervisors: Taskade does everything and much more
Everything I have to keep my entire life is stored on line. Somewhere. I just can not think it is.
I'm discussing all of the account numbers, meeting notes, todo lists, contact info and column info I want to observe daily. And also the recipes I desire to cook, perfumes I want to decide to take to, also YouTube videos I should see. A number of the stuff resides within my email in box, and also even some in Google Docs. Then you can find really my Pinterest planks, miscellaneous bookmarks and also the Evernote accounts I cannot organize coherently.
In theory, the web can make it easier than ever before to maintain all I want a couple taps off. In fact, the world wide web has a method of fragmenting our own lives. It's like I wrote what in a laptop and got drunk, torn out every page and concealed them in various places around my property.
Taskade produces a excellent tool for simple todo lists, also also you're able to utilize photos, emojis and stock artwork to liven up them.
Photo: David Pierce/The Wall Street Journal
Over the last couple of weeks, an program named Taskade has let me turn chaos into order. Taskade combines a number of their most useful features of both all Google Docs, Excel and Dropbox, together with a great deal of task-management and organizational applications. Taskade Labs Chief Executive Ivan Zhao explains the product as"the next generation of Microsoft Office," that really can be really a small hyperbolic and much rough. Nonetheless, it's the very ideal life-organization tool I've tried.
Taskade combines the characteristics of a notetaking program, a task-management program and also a spreadsheet tool that the manner that Steve Jobs joined an I pod, a phone and an internet browser in to the iPhone: All the tools interact to make some thing more than its own parts.
I have to state that Taskade is quite costly: It features a small free routine, also costs $8 per month to get significant usage. Still, it may pay for itself from the programs that it stinks, and I've found it easily worth the price.
I finally have a full page together with of my airline and hotel devotion amounts at a bulleted list, above an image of my dental card and also an embedded map with instructions to my physician's office. I left data bases together with most of the current pictures, novels, TV shows, along with YouTube videos I want for at --each phone opens into a rich record along with my notes and thoughts.
Taskade includes each of the interviews, research outlines and material for my own columns. I am getting married soon and'm bogged down my nuptial todo list daily.
One of Taskade's brand new features is that a database application, that you are able to view like a desk, a calendar and much more.
Photo: David Pierce/The Wall Street Journal
I was able to want five distinct programs to maintain all of this stuff directly. Now it has all in Taskade, a couple clicks or even a easy hunt off.
Block by Block
It may be a lot much simpler to believe about Taskade as being a super-simple site builder compared to a productivity program.
When you start a brand fresh page at the program, you are really creating a sterile grid on which you'll be able to set and arrange virtually anything. The program's basic element could be that your cube, which might possibly become considered described as a paragraph of text, a bulleted list, a desk, a graphic, a code snippet, a YouTube video, even a PDF plus much more. You add cubes using a faucet or computer short cut, then reorder and arrange them to a heart's content. You are able to very quickly alter the essence of a cube, too. As an example, you are able to choose a lot of text and then change it to a to do list. Taskade's basic part could be the cube, that carries many forms: links, text, graphics, bookmarks and much more. Click here Free Notion Competitor
Photo: David Pierce/The Wall Street Journal
Taskade is similar to baseball: easy to learn, difficult to perfect. The program itself looks fairly comfortable, with a tap to the left and also your receptive page about the correct side. It's a couple of decorative niceties, just such as the solution to bring a cover photo to the peak of every page.
When you first start the program, though, it will not have enough to help you know what it could perform. Even with weeks of using Taskade each day, I'm just figuring out the best methods to accomplish things while attempting to stay clear of making layout decisions that are horrible. Can I actually require a fullpage photo inside my to do list? My information: Make substantial utilization of Taskade's templates, just since they assist you to set pages out and reveal what the program's effective at.
There are Indigenous Taskade programs for Windows, Mac and also iOS. Mr. Zhao states that a Android program ought to be available within fourteen days. The internet program works superbly on mobile and desktop, too, also it has the specific same experience whichever platform you are using.
Taskade is very determined by connectivity. It works off line just with pages you've opened recently while attached which means whatever you could do is cross your hands each single time you start Taskade onto a plane. On the up side, you are able to upload tweets and YouTube videos, also entire pages, in just a Taskade record.
Photo: David Pierce/The Wall Street Journal
Though I utilize Taskade to remain in addition to my work and life (and you must too),'' Taskade is created for business organizations. It gives collaborative editing, in line opinions and useful tools for managing permissions and delegating tasks. In the event you utilize Slack, then you could possibly get alarms whenever somebody comments changes or on that a Taskade document. It's not a replacement for Slack or even Salesforce, nonetheless nevertheless, it can replace lots of the various equipment therefore many businesses utilize to store and share advice.
One-stop Shop
Matt Galligan, creator of those Picks and Shovels Co., also a Crypto Currency providers startup, provided a useful adviser for Taskade. He says with the program is like buying Amazon. Earlier,"stores specialized," he stated,"and they did a good job." Subsequently Amazon came and aggregated every thing. It maybe was not the ideal store for almost just about any single thing, however the onestop advantage managed to get unbeatable.
That's simply itTaskade isn't as successful a translation instrument as Excel, also it generally does not always possess a number of those task-management features I need --if an activity is expected, I would prefer a alert, for example. (Taskade states that is forthcoming.) The program has let me whittle the regions I maintain down stuff to two. I can not prevent email from arriving ; I could put every thing in Taskade.
Photo: David Pierce/The Wall Street Journal
There's many left to your own Taskade team todo, needless to say. Along with task alarms, additionally it is taking care of calendar sync, and PowerPoint-style demonstration features, a internet clipper, better off line service plus Android program. Additionally it is about to guide services like Zapier and If This Then That (IFTTT), that assists move data between programs. However, it does a lot more than some one of its competitors.
For years, I've slid around various notetaking programs and productivity programs, never quite pleased. Evernote makes it simple to catch information, however I liked the port. Google Docs and Keep do not provide enough capabilities. Trello, Asana along with other projectmanagement applications do not benefit notetaking.
Taskade combines the very greatest of every and every --along with many others --to some infrequent renaissance program, skillful in countless procedures of creation as well as company. I can not set a cost on the reassurance that originates in the unfragmented daily lifestyle. Waityes I will: It's eight bucks monthly.

Reply to @prurientpuddlejumper on this ask:
I’m sorry you’re frustrated or if I offended you somehow, but to be frank I don’t appreciate the tone you’re using here. However, to answer you anyway:
> they def meant the links to these alleged "online generators," because I am in the same boat as anon
First of all, unless you ARE that anon, I don’t think you can say they “def” meant anything, since they never came back to clarify, and I did try my best to answer them the first time, and I seemed to have helped since they didn’t come back to report any problems with my answer.
Second of all, “alleged”? That’s very rude. Just because you cannot see them on tumblr mobile, does not mean they do not exist. Plenty of other people have used them just fine, as evidenced by the many posts submitted to this blog. And as the last two people who’ve asked about mobile access before never came back with problems, I can only assume they simply went on the desktop site to use the generators instead of accusing me that it’s not accessible at all.
>  post after post about how you updated the UI or whatnot with no link to the thing you updated
It was only two posts (so far anyway), and if you read them closely, you may have noticed I said I was only working on new updates, that they weren’t done, and that they aren’t out yet. And also that “the current generators are still up” so that people have a fully functional version of the generator to use, even if it’s not as pretty as the update is going to be. So no, there is no “link to the thing I updated”, because it’s not done yet. And as the point of the post was about the updates-to-come, I saw no need to promote a link to the generators that are currently available. Seeing as you want that though, I shall go correct those posts and link it, for your and future readers’ convenience.
I apologize for the misunderstanding, if I wasn’t clear enough about the updates being a work-in-progress. I was just trying to update my actual followers (of which I noticed that you are not one) that I was working on stuff, since this blog is usually pretty quiet.
> I REALLY wanna see it, and am growing increasingly frustrated about how much work you're pouring into this *thing* without giving mobile users any way to *access it*.
Again, I’m sorry this is frustrating to you, and you do bring up some legitimate feedback about the mobile accessibility. As I mentioned, I’ve answered at least two asks about this issue before, but since it’s been a few years and phones have definitely gotten more powerful I can look into developing a proper mobile version. But a lot of issues come up with making a mobile version, namely UI and responsive design (because I’d have to account for both vertical and horizontal orientation, and again I reiterate that UI design is hard), dynamic coding/image generation/data input/font importing and styling/etc., and how to save the actual generated image or at the very least the export/import save data for later use on a desktop browser. It takes a lot of work (more than most people realize, I imagine), so if you would like to help with that, let me know, otherwise you have no right to shame me for not making a mobile version, taking my time, or doing any of this.
As it is, you can actually still access the generator on mobile, just not tumblr mobile. You just have to go to a browser on your phone (there’s a reason my URL is so simple). However, as mentioned above, the template was not designed with mobile in mind, so all the fonts and effects and arrangement on the template itself just looks... not like it’s supposed to. Which, again, is part of the issue with the design, but at least you can access it on mobile, against your claims that you cannot.
Tumblr media
Also, I mainly made this a desktop site because of how large the dimensions of the template are, in order to make sure the text is visible/legible even in the downsized preview image. Even when I view the template on my phone, I have to zoom in a lot, and with the current live version of the online generators, it would have made scrolling around to input data annoying. The PSDs, as well, would be inaccessible on mobile as far as I know (if Photoshop Mobile has improved enough to handle all the layers, masks, and effects, I’m unaware) so it was a conscious decision to make this whole thing desktop-only when I first started this blog several years ago.
> Even the "downloads" link you just shared just redirects back to this same page. Which is probably because you've hidden all the links away in "pages" which are completely invisible and inaccessible on the mobile app
It’s very much tumblr’s fault, and I really should have thought of that at first, but again, it was a conscious decision to make this a desktop site. Even if I made rebloggable/viewable posts with the links in them (which I plan to do soon, if only to satisfy mobile users like you), only the PSD download links would work (but again, not sure how well downloading PSDs work on mobile devices), as the tumblr app will still loop back to the blog, since the online generator is still one of those blog “pages”. And that is not changing for as long as I don’t have the time or money to host it on its own domain.
I can’t change the fact that tumblr mobile doesn’t automatically open blog pages in an external browser, so the only solution I can offer you is to take the extra step to copy the url and go into your mobile device’s actual internet browser, or just go to your browser and type in my URL manually.
If you actually couldn’t access the templates at all (which should not be an issue if you “REALLY wanna see it” given that not only did I offer you explanations and solutions for the tumblr app problem, but also that it IS accessible on desktop and you reasonably could have just gone on a computer) or had any other problem with them, I have made no stranger of myself and have always been open to help people. They have been polite or nice when they do talk to me, and I’ve always tried to be cordial in return. Your feedback is legitimate, and I appreciate it, but you really could have worded your implied suggestion a little better. And to be quite honest, I was offended by the rudeness of your reply, especially when you called my hard work a “*thing*”. Those asterisks imply a very negative tone, in case you weren’t aware.
I get the impression that you think that your demand will be fulfilled right away if you make enough fuss about it, but I’m not going to be manipulated or guilt-tripped because you feel bad. Maybe you don’t mean it that way, but you can “grow increasingly frustrated” all you want, because not only am I working on this for free, on my free time, and by myself, but I am also not doing this for you. You’re right that I am pouring a lot of work into this, as much work as any fan artist or fanfiction writer will put into their own works, and I’m very proud of it (both as it is now and what it will be in the future) and I have fun working on it, but this is not my job. And you’re not paying for a service.
I’m not working for anyone, and I have no reason to have made more than I originally did--originally I only made the student template PSDs for some friends, and the generator (which seems to be my most popular template, even though my original focus was on the PSDs) only came about because one of my friends didn’t have Photoshop. And I wasn’t even going to release either of them to the public, but I did, and the villain ones came over a year later because of this blog and the people who follow it. No one asked for a user interface update (in fact, more people have asked for a pro hero template), but I’m doing it anyway because I can and I want to. That’s all this boils down to. Also my free time (if you hadn’t noticed, everything on my blog runs on a queue, and when I do queue stuff it’s usually like 3am or so--including right now... it’s currently 5am actually) and motivation (I’m well aware of how few people actually use the templates compared to how many people follow and reblog the posts, and honestly it’s a little discouraging). So if I do make a mobile version, be aware that it won’t be coming out for a very long time. (Also, I think you’re the only one in several years who has complained about it, and you are literally 1 in... what, 3000+ people? Judging by the number of notes on the original post I made when I started the blog and my current number of followers. And again, you’re not even one of them. So to be honest, I’m really not motivated to work on this quickly.)
If you want it faster? Being nice when you show your interest helps, it’s how I got encouraged to make the villain templates. Though I never asked for much other than patience. Or at the very least, the respect any fandom content creator deserves--I may not be cranking out fanart daily or new chapters of a fanfiction weekly or anything, but I am still providing the fandom with something they can enjoy at no cost. And like reviews on fics or comments on art, many people have expressed that they’re grateful the templates and generators exist at all, unlike you, which is really the reason this blog continues to exist and the generators/templates to be updated with new and improved features. I could have just left my original template generator up there and abandoned it, but I know how it feels to find out a fanart you loved years ago was deleted or a really good fanfic was discontinued. So I’ll continue to work on it, and yes I’ll put mobile compatibility for the generators on my to-do list, but I’ll do it at my own pace.
Also I’m not making money off of this, but hey, if you wanna give me incentive that way, hop into my DMs or something and we’ll talk, but I’ve never asked for donations or anything and I don’t plan to. The generators and templates are free for use, and most of that is because of tumblr, which gave it a platform and a home. If I hosted it on its own domain, I’d need a means to pay for that, and I’m personally not invested enough to do that when tumblr is free and works well enough.
If you or anyone else wants to help change that, come talk to me, the ask box is always open.
Otherwise, please visit this blog page on a desktop browser or at the very least something that isn’t just the tumblr mobile app, because nothing can be done about mobile compatibility right now, and I’d hate for you to miss out on seeing the templates. Hopefully I can look forward to whatever you will create with it.

Inktober #2: Mindless
The patient was sitting on the table, dressed in a hospital gown, looking deeply irritated. “I don’t even know why I’m here. I wanted to go to Five Guys,” he said. “Why didn’t you take me to Five Guys?”
The woman with him – close to the same age, late 20’s or early 30’s – sighed. She sounded exasperated. “Greg, we have talked about this. You’re here because—”
“You know, there’s a great sale on fishing gear at Walmart. I could be at Walmart right now buying fishing gear.”
“You don’t even fish!”
“Hello,” I said. “I’m Dr. Park. What brings you here today?”
“Nothing!” Greg Landers, my patient, said. He was a white guy with brown hair and stubble on his face, medium build, and looked overall reasonably healthy. “I’m fine! I just want to go to Five Guys. Or you know, Charles Schwab is a great place to open up your 401K. They’ve got a satisfaction guarantee. You won’t see that at every investment firm!”
“He’s been like this for days,” the woman with him said. “He won’t go to work, he won’t do chores around the house… he eats, but he spends the whole time complaining that it’s not some restaurant he wants to go to. Mostly Five Guys. Greg doesn’t even like burgers that much.”
“I don’t think we’ve been introduced, Ms.--?”
“Oh, I’m Nicole Landers. I’m Greg’s wife.” I’d figured it was something like that.
“So tell me about Greg’s online activities. Do you know what he’s been doing lately?”
“Playing Hell War!” Greg said eagerly. “It doesn’t cost any money to play! I want to know if I have what it takes to beat the Lords of Hell!”
Nicole sighed again. “Two weeks ago you were telling me that Hell War was a cheap cash grab and that it’s impossible to win without spending your entire paycheck on in-app purchases. Also you’ve never liked mobile games.”
“Has he played any VR games recently?”
“Are we done here? I am really jonesing for some Five Guys. And then we can go over to Walmart!”
“Oh, yeah,” Nicole said. “We both play Fimbulwinter – that’s a survival game about a post-apocalyptic world plunged into eternal winter – and La Vie en Verte, that’s virtual gardening. He also plays Beyond the Blue Event Horizon, that’s a space game, but I’m not into that so much.”
Time to be politic. “Do you think he might ever have played a… well, a porn sim? Or been on a site for pirating games?”
“You know, I think I want my next car to be a Hyundai Annunciator. Those cars are slick. And they handle like anything, even in bad weather! And the mileage before recharge, wow. Amazing batteries on those guys!”
To my surprise, Nicole laughed. “Oh, yeah, Greg does porn sims. He’s bi and genderfluid, so he likes to go online in a female avatar and have sex with dudes. Not really my thing, but he lets me watch if I want.” My shock must have shown on my face. “What? It’s the 21st century, you think I’m one of those women who clutches pearls and has the vapors if my husband plays porn games? I can’t be a man for him and I’m too straight to want him when he’s wearing femmy clothes, but the porn sim can give him those things without him exposing himself to diseases or other risks by going with real people.”
While Nicole was explaining this, Greg told us what upcoming movies he thought were going to be “really awesome”, repeated his request for Five Guys, tried to explain the plot of Hell War in five-word sentences that were plainly marketing material, and talked about the lawnmower he wanted. Nicole rolled her eyes as he finished. “Greg, we live in an apartment. We don’t even have a lawn!”
“We could go to Century 21 and shop for a house! I know their agents will put us first.”
“And why would we want to do that?”
“So we can have a lawn! The Home Depot sells the best grass seed—”
He went on like this, but I stopped listening. “I don’t need to check anything else, Nicole. I’m sorry. Your husband’s become a zombie.”
“A what?” Nicole looked horrified. Belatedly I realized that just because she played VR games and was open-minded about her husband’s porn habit didn’t mean she was IT-savvy enough to know what I was talking about.
“Sorry, that’s not the medical term for them. He’s still alive, and physically he’s fine. But mentally, his consciousness isn’t operating his body. His brain’s been hijacked by an information virus.”
“An information virus? And what’s that got to do with zombies?”
“An information virus is like a computer virus for people. And we call people infected with this type ‘zombies’ because they’re not actually conscious.”
Nicole looked at Greg, who was animatedly explaining why TGIFriday was the best sit-down restaurant, ever, but Five Guys was in a league of its own. “He looks pretty conscious to me.”
“Ask yourself, Nicole, when Greg is normally conscious, does he spend his entire time sounding like a series of poorly mastered YouTube commercials?”
“No, that’s why I brought him here!”
“Right. The human brain can do an amazing lot of stuff without being conscious of it. You ever set out to drive a certain way, but part of it goes the way you usually do to a different destination, and you find that without paying attention you’ve somehow managed to drive halfway to the place you usually go rather than the place you’re trying to get to?”
“I hardly ever drive. We have self-driving cars.”
I controlled the impulse to sigh. That one was the best explanation. “Ok, well, if you think about how you type on a keyboard – when you start, you’re awkward and you’re hunting and pecking. But it gets to the level of muscle memory and you can just do it, without having to consciously think about it. Or mastering the controls for a new game.”
“Yeah, I guess…”
“I wanna go home and watch CSI: Racial Justice Unit! That is the best show on television today. You know it won an Emmy last year, right?”
“Greg’s brain has been hijacked by an information virus that compels him to advertise for maybe up to 40 different brands that he’s aware of. He probably caught the virus on a porn site; that or an illegal pirated game site, those are usually the biggest vectors. Some of those brands might be aware that the advertisers they’re working with are engaged in really shady practices like this, but most think they’re paying for ‘brand ambassadors’ who’ve voluntarily chosen to talk up the brand to their family and friends. The virus lets him do anything you can do without being conscious, and it turns out, that’s a lot more than people think it is. But right now he has no sense of rational judgement, his normal levels of compassion and empathy are almost entirely turned off, and he has no awareness that everything he says is an advertisement.”
“So – what can we do? Is it curable? Is he suffering? Oh, God, is he trapped inside his own mind while his body is running around spouting ads?”
“No. The real Greg, his actual consciousness, isn’t awake – that’s kind of what happens when people aren’t conscious. And yes, it’s very curable. I’m going to have him sit in this booth with a VR headset on and watch a detoxification protocol, and that should do the trick.”
“It won’t hurt him, will it?”
“No, not at all. It just nullifies the virus and wakes him up.”
“Ok. Let’s do that then.”
“Mr. Landers!” I interrupted his monologue about the Hyundai Annunciator. “Can you sit in this chair and put on this headset, please?”
“But I’m really hungry. I want Five Guys.”
“I think Nicole would be happy to take you to Five Guys after you watch this short VRdeo. Isn’t that right, Nicole?”
“Uh, yeah. Yeah, sure.” From her expression I could tell she would rather swallow a live earthworm, but anything to get him to sit down and watch.
“Well, okay. Long as I can have Five Guys after.” Greg sat down in the chair, I put the headset on him, and for ten minutes, that was that. I talked to Nicole about the importance of strong antivirals on the VR headset, not just relying on your network firewall, and maybe running a quick one-minute detox scan after ending a game.
The timer beeped, and I removed Greg’s headset. “How do you feel, Greg?” I asked.
“Okay, I guess, but I still want to go get Five Guys. Hey, Nickie, you promised, can we leave now?”
My eyebrows went up. “That’s… unusual.”
“It didn’t work?” Nicole was clearly on the verge of a panic attack.
“It didn’t, but calm down. This just means I have to go to the next level and do a manual treatment. That’s going to take a while, but I’m really curious as to how this particular bug survived the detox, so I tell you what; if you can wait, I have, I think, three more patients on the schedule for today, and then we can do Greg’s treatment.” Normally I’d ask them to make a second appointment for a thing like this, but my detox VRdeo was brand new, just updated yesterday. I wanted to see what kind of bug could get through a brand new scan, and I didn’t want to wait until next week or whenever my calendar was clear enough for a half hour session.
“I… guess we can wait…”
“Well, if we’re not doing anything, then how about we go to Five Guys?”
“Just take him,” I said. “It might shut him up for a little while, and it’s not likely to do him any harm.”
“But Greg doesn’t even like burgers.”
“Greg Landers the human man with a unique intelligence and personality doesn’t like burgers. Greg the Zombie, the cookie-cutter advertising goon, does. Unless he’s got allergies or sensitivities and can’t eat burgers—”
“No, he just doesn’t like them.” Nicole looked at her feet. “I… guess I could take him. When do we have to be back?”
I gave her my best estimate of how long it was going to take to get through the last three patients, and then as I walked them to the door I let the receptionist know to expect them back.
***
Once they were back, I sat Greg down with an interactive VRdeo that I’d be running with him, and then sat down and put on my own headset.
The information viruses work by directly injecting “code” from the brain’s “operating system” through either the optic or auditory channels, or both, but you don’t perceive them as code. You perceive them as something else. I don’t know what Greg saw – for everyone it’s different – but for me, it was very brief flashes of something I could barely see, something dark and full of wrongness, accompanied by a very brief flash of panic and horror. My brain knows when something’s trying to invade it from the outside. But my headset had the newest antivirals on it and the best, most sophisticated dedicated firewall, so for me the code injection attempts were just that, attempts.
The VRdeo that was running was highly interactive, keyed to produce full sensorium response – a perfect breeding ground for a zombie virus. Greg’s viruses couldn’t resist the opportunity to replicate and invade someone else. But that was not happening today. As the viruses struck out at me, my security grappled with them, analyzed them, and fed me images that in turn I could feed back to Greg that would neutralize that particular virus.
When we were finished, I once again asked him, “How do you feel, Greg?”
He was looking around in bewilderment. “This… is a doctor’s office? How the hell did I even get here? Did I pass out or something, Nickie?”
“Oh, thank God!” Nicole said.
“Looks like that did the trick,” I said. “Make sure you run antivirals, like I said. Good ones, don’t skimp on the cost. If you’ve got the money to game, you’ve got the money to protect yourself while gaming.”
“Thank you, Doctor, you’re a wonder—”
“What the hell is going on? What was wrong with me?”
I let Nicole explain to her husband as they walked out the door, and I locked up for the night. It’d been a long day, and I was hungry. I could really go for some Five Guys.

idk how far u are into su future so no spoilers but hhhhhh -H (so much fuckin 2nd hand embarrassment i quit) (i’m talking abt 1 Specific thing but tbh it applies to a lot everything gives me 2nd hand embarrassment)
also i don’t relate exactly but at my mom’s house i call my brother his preferred name, but i can’t at my dad’s bc i would Die so whenever we talk abt him there’s a 2 sec pause where i have to try and remember that my brother has a deadname -H (“oh that’s a nice shirt where’d u get it from” “,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,[deadname]”)
i was closing apps and i accidentally closed spotify and i was listening to music skdjhdskls -H (i made a point not to close it but my hand slipped and i just)
on that note i was listening to bts so just let me ramble abt vmin bc they made a whole song abt their friendship on their new album and i would die for them -H (they’re soulmates ok they call each other their soulmate they’re in love pls i’m so soft)
oh yea needed context: vmin is 2 members (v and jimin’s) subunit name but by subunit i mean ship name vmin is their ship name -H (i remember i tried to explain that they’re best best friends to my mom and i said they’re soulmates and she laughed at me & then the day after friends came out and they called each other soulmates who’s laughing now mom)
the song name is friends i feel like i mentioned that but didn’t clarify that it was the song name i’m so sick of these asks not sending -H
ok if u have a million asks from me i’m sorry tumblr mobile was being dumb -H (i switched to the site itself but then it directed me to the app so i deleted the app and then the site language was in korean so i tried to change it and then i was asked if i was sure i wanted to delete my account so that was a whole ride)
anyway that’s probably enough from me i have no idea how much of what i said actually sent and i can’t remember what i was talking abt anyway goodnight -H
actually i didn’t go to sleep until like, 7, but it’s fine bc i’m only suffering slightly more than a normal amount -H (i tried to go to bed tho and i couldn’t cuz it took too much energy which doesn’t make sense but idk)
-----------------------------
Okay so I will try to respond to each of these in order lol:
I actually JUST checked because I was gonna watch it, and I have 10 episodes to watch lol. I almost just binged them all tonight and then I stopped and thought about it, and the SU:F have a huge impact on my emotional and mental health, and I’ve already been doing kinda poorly lately, so I decided it’s better if I wait awhile. Possibly until after the coronavirus stuff is over, if my mental health keeps on like this, lol
I don’t know if I’ve forgotten what this second ask relates to or if I’m missing one, but I get that. Like, I (and my friends know and understand and are not upset) have to deadname all my friends who my parents have met who started transitioning or didn’t realize they were trans until after my parents met them, for both theirs and my safety (and our continuing friendship). It really sucks
I think I understand the BTS ramble? (don’t let this discourage you from sending more BTS rambles, i am just very tired so it’s not entirely processing in my brain rn lol) The best friends called each other their soulmates and then wrote a song about their friendship? That’s honestly so pure omg.
I hope you’ve been sleeping more, lately, kiddo!

Marco Arment sucks at GDPR.
Hey!? I tried to reblog THIS POST today, funnily enough to complain about having the exact same problem. (I'm in the UK btw.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Here's what happened when I tried to reblog it on desktop: (I thought maybe @golbatgender had blocked me, but I was still able to follow them and reblog another of their posts.)
Tumblr media
So I tried replying on mobile instead. No such luck. Here's what happened when I tried to send the post or save it as a draft in the iOS app. Only this time it was much more annoying because these nasty little errors don't show up until after you've finished writing.
Tumblr media
Note that it is only this post that does it. Other posts work fine. So, not points for guessing what happened when I tried to reblog it on the mobile website.
Tumblr media
@staff Are you fucking joking or what?!?
This may or may not be related to GDPR, but I have also found I can't view any page at all on anyone's blog without this clusterfuck website redirecting me to tumblr.com/dashboard. What the fucking fuck?
I have tried logging in with two accounts, three different browsers, and incognito mode. None of these did anything at all until I realised I could fix it temporarily with Hola VPN.
And while this is almost certainly unrelated to Tumblr, I do find it amusing this would happen on the same day that Instapaper, another site created by Marco Arment, decides to come back online after two months of shitting the bed with regards to GDPR.
Tumblr media
Pictured: the page that European Instapaper users had to look at for TWO FUCKING MONTHS.
And as much as it is tempting to blame it on deliberate sabotage, I think that for both websites it was just a case of pure incompetence. Instapaper for one thing was so badly managed by its parent company, understaffed, didn't have any idea how it wanted to make money… sounds very similar to Tumblr when you put it that way!
And no, while Marco doesn't work at either of them anymore, he might just have left in some faulty code. Something like this perhaps?
1) If GDPR() = true; run command ShitTheBed.exe
2) Goto 1
I mean… I'm no programmer, but I imagine this is basically how this works. Right?
When this is fixed, I just know something in gonna go wrong with Overcast, Marco Arment's latest project. Luckily all my podcasts are stored in Pocket Casts which is the superior app in my opinion. THERE, I SAID IT.
