Hey! It’s my birthday and the Gomens brainrot has subsided to a semi-manageable level, so I’m trying Doctor Who!

I don’t know if there’s a best way to do this. I’m just starting at the beginning.

I’m halfway through episode 3. It feels very strange to my modern mind- the slow pacing, black & white, everything feels random. I do crack up every time someone says Doctor.

I’m certainly interested, though I don’t immediately love it. I intend to stick with it for some time before commuting to 800-some episodes. It may take me awhile to get into the swing of things. I’ll keep you updated.

Things I’m looking forward to:

Watching the filming equipment develop over time, especially

Color film

David Tennant

Daleks

any explanation whatsoever of who the Doctor is or how this all got started

modern camera techniques such as zooming out instead of showing the bottom half of someone’s face

any type of action, really

higher resolution

Things I like so far:

appropriate skepticism rather than just immediately accepting time travel

the murder mystery feel of the first episode

the Doctor squabbling with Ian

Year-meter shows 0? Ah, must be broken lol

episodes are short (I suspect this will much annoy me once I get invested in the characters)

Things that are meh so far:

The modern females are panicky, screechy, and pretty useless

I don’t care at all about the cavemen and their situation. not finding it engaging.

congrats on the Sherlock obsession. As I am now just going down the list of things you and Tumblr like, I’ll have to try it eventually. I have a feeling DW may occupy me for quite some time, though.

So I personally began my DW journey from the new who (starting with the 9th doctor) and only later tried watching the b/w beginning, and I must confess I still believe I have not been very successful in doing so (I got stuck after maybe 10 episodes...) So yeah.. By going your way you are less likely to miss that huge part of the show. I'm very proud of you!!

For if/when you decide to try out Sherlock obsession, just know that BBC series is only one of the many adaptations and you will find a lot of them far better than Brwnneebdck Curemdbdbtch. (I and the sherlock side of the maggot family absolutely loathe don't like the bbc series, mostly for ruining dearest Irene and making Sherlock an absolute arse/crimesolving machine..) So yeah, just a heads up:)

A Yellow Scarf in Winter - I think this is probably the best thing I've ever written. This story was the first time I really felt like I succeeded in achieving my goals with a story - writing emotion is something I really try to do correctly, and because music has always made me feel so deeply, I wanted to be able to capture the subtle emotion of one of my favorite pieces in this work. I'm very happy with how it turned out, and honestly, I just love this story even more every time I rewrite it (it's gone through over four iterations at this point).

the things we lost along the way - this story...ugh. I have so many feelings about it, both good and bad (mostly because I'm trying to expand it now and I love it but I hate it 🥲). But it genuinely means so much to me. As I was writing my second or third iteration of this story (the latest one that was posted), I was working through grief in a way I'd never had to before, and I think this story carried it through in a really beautiful but heartbreaking way. I'm very proud of this story, and I look forward to posting a new version of it in the near future :)

If You'll Have Me - sometimes stories just bounce out of me and this was one of them. My summer 2022 baby <3 Bridgerton got me FUCKED UP for regency era aus (s3 is about to do it again) and I loved the result. It was just so much fun to write and I was very happy with the result :D

Look at the Butterflies - I'm not convinced I know where this story came from, but as ursa said...my love language is safe spaces, and this is just a manifestation of it. I've outed myself but eh. Whatever. The poem that inspired it was beautiful too <3

Swing! - man...this was the fucking HEIGHT of my marvel fixation and I still have no regrets. I love mark and my mc....my babies....this story was like the first time I felt like I really wrote actual 3D characters?? man I just love mark and mc so much they're my literal babies <3

Sooo, I have a feeling that Lina would probably very interested in your oc. Your oc is like very cute and she would probably ask a lot of questions like: “What is a ribbon sword & What’s its Ability’s?” “How long did it take you to master your powers?” “How did you know you had powers?” “Do you have a crush?” “WHERES YOUR PARENTS???” :0

Nine times out of ten lina thinks your oc is gorgeous with her cute little buns on her hair. In fact she gives off inspiration to put things in Lina’s outfit that sticks out the most too!

When seeing your oc first time in fox form, She would literally start to pet her head because she’s so accepting to see others in their original form than the form they cover themselves up in. Which she understands, Seeing how you have to stay low out in public with original forms. Causing many people to use glamour instead like Lina too..

But who CARES! It’s adorable, She loves your oc’s appearance in her fox form. She also has a ton of questions heading towards yue like a train.

typically a blog i like will post p links or will post something based off of one link and i’ll see if i liked the video and i’ll basically just stalk that account until i find another video that really sticks w me.

@murdrdocs posts some links along w asks or w a fic based off of it, thats how i found the video that my spencer fic was based off of (celeste is also just really great, i love her blog sm)

@icarus-star has a p link masterlist which i loveeee, they are tied to different rory culkin characters i believe but if its a character idk i just don’t pay attention to it :pp (they have some great ghostface links tho)

hey anon! glad you enjoyed the rizz post :) to be honest I'm not too familiar with monsta x/wonho anymore (not for any particular reason just changing interests), but I'll do a quick sentence or two with my main impressions below! hope you like it <3

original rizz analysis

shownu: positive and high magnitude though not quite infinity. kinda similar to yunho? in that they are both large and soft and have insane charisma but iirc shownu has a thinly veiled thing for being dominated (or is he the one dominating icr) that parallels yunho's thinly veiled thing for feet. hence the similarities and hence the not-positive-infinity level rizz

wonho: fluctuates between +5 and -5. I did say he's very similar to changbin. buff boys. stronk. much strength. except they're also very sweet losers hence the dipping into the negatives. I gave him slightly lower magnitudes than changbin, I don't know why this is the instinct but I mean at least his negative rizz is lower magnitude than changbin's so there's that

minhyuk: low. very negative. EXTREMELY negative. iirc he's very much the puppy type and he reminds me a little too much of hyunjae. he's very aware of the fact that he has next to zero rizz and he WILL use that against you so watch out for the puppy eyes. it doesn't matter in the end though you'll fall victim to them anyway

kihyun: -15. I feel like I've been influenced by this one twt account that I follow bc they love kihyun and are also obsessed with pathetic men so by extension kihyun is pathetic and is down in the negatives. not super high magnitude at least which he should honestly thank me and his hyeya performance for. I was going to give him -1 but then I realized he'd be dangerously close to rizz neutral and that is not happening this man is not neutral on ANYTHING

hyungwon: ooooooooo this is so hard but I'm going to give him -10. he's kinda like chanhee. knows what rizz is. understands his rizz level is in the negatives. does not give two fucks. this gives the impression that he has positive levels of rizz since he doesn't care but be not fooled dear reader he's just a dying victorian child in the guise of a limp noodle dragging himself around the stage. pray for him

(I think kihyun would probably kill me if he knew his rizz levels were under hyungwon's please don't let this get past him)

joohoney: FUCK BRO THIS IS SO HARD. I give him +20. he has so much charisma as an idol it's insane. I watched some of pdx101 (I think this is where it's from) and every time I remember the BAKSU bit I flip flop between convulsing on the floor with laughter and wanting to watch if 15 more times. therefore he gets positive rizz except it's limited by his aegyo. sorry I can't watch that more than 0.1 times before I cringe into oblivion

i.m.: same suit as jangjun and co. he's so alien his rizz is like undefinable. started off with positive infinity magnitude, then it got too high so it like... collapsed in on itself and got converted into whatever the fuck it is now. I couldn't tell you what it is. he's so weird. he holds too much power. I love him very much

random question: do lilia and rollo have nicknames/pet names for lina and vice versa?

hi hi taru! and yes, they do! lilia has a lot of nicknames and pet names for lina, such as "kitten" (a reference to her inner catgirl self), "sweetheart", "prince/princess", "pumpkin" (a reference to halloween and all) and many others! rollo is more shy about it and it was a little hard for him to use such words for lina at first, but when he got used to it and became more open, he started to use "dear", "darling" and "my flower" for them.

lina is even more shy than rollo when it comes to these things, even simply calling his boyfriends by their first names is a lot for him, but as they became closer, lina started to use words like "baby", "sunshine", "sweetie" for both of them.
