Basically in summary: some people had an issue with the vastly queer fanbase and queer content for LinkedUniverse (a Zelda fancomic, for my newer followers who might not know), and made a "Conservative and Christian LU server"

Needless to say, posting the link on Tumblr was maybe not the best decision for them.

Hi!! I saw ur fandom veteran post, and I was wondering if you think the fandom has expanded or shrunk since say, the bunny legend stuff for example? Like are there any notable changes you’ve witnessed over the years. No pressure to respond I was just curious since I’ve only been in it for a year or so haha

Well let’s see... my memory with dates and stuff isn’t the greatest but here’s what I do remember.

For a long while we were rather small. I pretty much knew who everyone was (this was before I had a tumblr of course, I just lurked and sent occasional anons) and there weren’t a ton of newcomers. There were about two incorrect quote blogs, and everybody pretty much knew everyone else. Chain meets wild fics were just starting to grow in popularity as I recall XD

Somewhere around divine dark reflections (and/or pandemic I think, somewhere in there) our number upticked pretty quick; we certainly didn’t get on trending or anything but there was a lot more fan content and blogs, and if you said ‘linkeduniverse’ to a zelda fan there was a fair chance they’d know what you were talking about.

So we were steadily growing, but not too ridiculously fast. Lu was still a small fandom, but considering it was for a fancomic we were pretty big.

But then I think right around last June when we had that month of weekly updates was when the fandom really exploded; suddenly we were on trending, we were number one on trending, everyone wanted to know what lu was (who the dog that died was hah) and we had tons of newcomers.

I’d say since then we just kept growing, going from small to at least medium sized, and we were no longer a teensy fancomic fandom, we’d gotten on trending. Compared to how the fandom used to be we were huge.

And of course, the bigger a fandom gets, the more problems it attracts.

There were a couple incidents, but the breaking point was the whole... everything, about you-know-what a month or two ago. It really shrunk us. A lot of people left, which is fine I totally get it, but we’re way smaller now.

I think we’re still bigger then we were back in the day. But we’re certainly much smaller then this time last year; I’d say maybe we’re about the same size of when bunny Legend was revealed or so (that’s a very vague estimate though)

And honestly I prefer it that way XD smaller fandoms tend to be nicer, more fun, and just better in general. Less mean anons anyway.

That being said of course, I do think we’re growing again. Not too fast. But we are. It’s just the nature of things, and linkeduniverse is just so good that some people are always going to be interested in it.

Wanna infodump about any non sonic fandoms ur in

Vaguer asks are harder to bounce off of admittedly but as for current non Sonic’s fandoms I guess rn I’m really into Ace Attorney, Linked Universe, and Monkie Kid

Monkie Kids is a 2D lego cartoon that is based around the story of Journey to The West, an old Chinese legend! The main character MK is chosen to be the Monkey King’s successor and goes on a journey to save the world a couple times along with his friends. The animation is stellar the story telling is great and the voice cast is fantastic with Mk being voiced by Sokka and Mei being voiced by Sailor Moon

Linked Universe is actually a Legend of Zelda fancomic/au over at @/linkeduniverse which is basically about the different reincarnations of the hero’s spirit (Link). And where I’m notoriously bad at videos game I sure do fuckin love them and this au is just so fun and cool

Ace Attorney is a videos game that I actually CAN play it’s more or less a puzzle game tbh. You okay as Phoenix Wright, a new defense attorney and you have to investigate crimes and then figure out what really happened so you can get a Not Guilty for your client! It’s super fun and I just started the second game so I’m excited to see where it goes

I don't know much about the Linked universe, but I'm curious as to what they mean by 'adventures' and their ages^^

This might be a bit dark but what about their worst fears? And worst memories (maybe too far on that one)

How did they all meet in the first place?

I just saw that previous ask and needed more

Okay so for starters:

Linkeduniverse is a Legend of Zelda fancomic where all the various versions of Link from all the different games meet and face a threat together and bond and stuff.

Ages differ, the youngest is Wind at 14, and Time is a full-grown adult (we don’t know his actual age. It’s complicated.) and ‘adventures’ are just whatever happened in their game(s) where they saved the world or whatever.

Worst fears and memories differ by the Links of course, but if you’ve played any loz games then you’d know they’ve all got a huge bucket-load of trauma. (It would take way too long to list em all off here, plus we don’t know exactly what each one’s are. The creator hasn’t revealed everything yet.)

As for how they all met? ...that’s also a bit ambiguous 😅 The creator said she probably wouldn’t go into specifics, but basic premise is that Dark Link (dark version of the boys) is making these portals connecting time and bringing them all together.

How exactly Lloyd fits into this is a uncertain right now. Me and @star-ocean-peahen were talking about how Lloyd is basically Link and it spiraled from there...
