Ok so this may just be a personal pet peeve I have but I can’t STAND when fanfics n such include characters listening to music that makes no sense for them to listen to

To each his own, I know everyone has their own understanding of characters; and self-projection is fun! But it’s just so exhausted and I want something that isn’t just the author using their own taste in music for once

Yes OBVIOUSLY a fictional character listening to mitski in a fan fiction doesn’t matter and I’m upset at nothing but when it’s in every single one, it can really strain the immersion

Don’t get me wrong, I love me some mitski! But variety is important, and can give a character more personality, even in fan works!

So, basically, here are my personal two cents on what I think the tbhk cast would listen to.

(If I come off as a hypocrite I give you the permission to shoot me)

Keep in mind I am not Japanese, nor anything close. My understanding of Japanese music stops at idol-game music and everything after that eludes my little brain. these are just vague ideas, to then be added to by someone more well versed than I, so do as you will. Doesn’t necessarily have to be Japanese music either, music is for everyone! Let teru listen to Rihanna! Have akane listen to one direction! Aoi listens to Belgian death metal! So yeah just take everything I say with a nice, handful of salt.

Yashiro: As shown in a volume extra (I think) Nene plays idol games! So it’s safe to assume that she enjoys J-idol music as well, which makes sense! J-pop fucks. ALSO mentioned in a volume extra, she enjoys jaded-lover-type music, which could encompass music akin to some 90’s J-Rock!

I would put suggestions here! But I am bad at listing artists - SUPER☆GIRLS is like the only J-idol group I listen to don’t hit me. ( 7/10 on the mitski meter: she could, and probably would listen to her, but only lush, only lush.)

Kou: Yeah not gonna lie if someone said he’d listen to weezer I wouldn’t have any reason to disagree, he’s very loser-rock and I mean that in the nicest way possible. Though to me he seems much more like a “I-listen-to-mainstream-rock-because-it-sound-good” type guy, keep in mind tbhk takes place in like 2014-2015 (I think) so whatever band were popular then, he probably listened to just that. Anime openings…fucking….Naruto…also, nightcore….anime openings… live that 2010’s life Kou you deserve it…be cringe…be free. (3/10 on the mitski meter: he wouldn’t, just cause he wouldn’t really encounter her in the wild. Maybe if he was recommended her…but not on his own.)

Hanako: ok look idk what the hell supernatural music sounds like so I’m just going to go off of the time period to which he was alive. Orchestras and Jazz were popular around the 1950s in Japan (along with other more western styles of music) so, that, probably, i don’t know. With Amane’s connection to music (at least vaguely) plays, musicals, and other type performances could’ve been an interest; though for Hanako, I don’t really know if he’d even have any interest in music specifically. So considering that he’d probably just listen to whatever people play around him. (5/10 on the mitski meter: totally possible, but not believable.)

Akane: m starting to blank gimmie a moment. Instrumental. That’s really all I can say. He listens to music when studying, cleaning, or performing any task where he has to focus, so anything rhythmic and calm, something to take up the brain space that isn’t doing the task at hand so he doesn’t get distracted by something else. Video game soundtracks (like Mario or some ambient bullshit), soft pop. He also seems like the kinda guy to just listen to whatever his parents play, so yes most definitely some old shit. Recommendations from Aoi or Nene. Basically just noise, a nice distraction from the horrible horrible world, yknow? (5/10 on the mitski meter: anything goes I s’pose)

Teru: Classical?? I guess?? Dude does not listen to dick, nothing, absolutely fuck all. Old classic, a nice orchestra or quartet. western or eastern it don’t matter, as long as it’s nice, repetitive, and peaceful it’ll do the job just fine. (2/10 on the mitski meter: probably too much for him to handle, man’s constantly on the edge of a mental break mitski’d kill him, maybe if he handled his underlying issues first, but until then no mitski)

Aoi: last one cause I am clocking out. Similar taste to akane, undefined and flexible. probably listens to the same stuff as Nene, though I think she probably enjoys older j-pop, just cause she seems like that, Yknow? Movie soundtracks, Anime soundtracks (shoujou, probably. Precure n such just cause Aoi seems like someone who deserves to heal her inner child, same goes for Akane as well) Similar to Teru she probably also likes the more calmer and downbeat stuff. (8/10 on the mitski meter: totally possible, I’d believe it, but she wouldn’t tell anyone, it’s her special secret.)

He'd need you to explain to him what exactly being trans means-

It'd take him a moment but then he'd understand...for the most part

He really likes your new haircut because then he can scruff it up a bit like an old man would do to his grandson

If anyone ever said something transphobic or you ever felt dysphoric, he'd be there ready to either kick the other person's ass or your dysphoria's

Overall very supportive but might mess up every once in a while (he's trying and that's all that matters <3)

Nene

She'd be quite shocked to say the least

She'd be very supportive tho!

She'd ask to mess with it if you felt comfortable with that, maybe and to see if you will let her try different styles for it (depending on how short you cut it)

100% respectful of your pronouns and name of you'd want her to refer to you as such

If anyone says something transphobic to you or your having a tough time...let's not forget her ass whooping from vol. 0... as for your dysphoria, she'd make sure you refer to you with more masculine terms to make you feel yourself that day.

Example: "You look so handsome today, (Name)! Did you style your hair differently? Looks very masculine!"

Overall very, VERY supportive and there to kick anyone's ass if she needs to

SUPPORTIVE. KOU.

Kou would probably be super busy around you at first, thinking your haircut looks really good on you

If you go by a different set of name(s) or pronouns, he will easily adapt and will make sure others respect you too

For some reason i have a feeling that you told her about it before others since she seems like such a good person to talk to

When she sees your haircut, i think she'd just smile and say how it suits you

If someone says something that is transphobic, she will use the broadcasting as a way to get revenge

Ooh ooh, I can only hope we'll see more characters dragon-ified, at the very least, I have my fingers crossed for a matching Tsukasa... whether he be a scribble, a header, any degree of polish. I'd be excited to know he is out there. Amane's and Nene's outfits/colors were already so extravagant in a way I couldn't have predicted, so... I'd love to see what's envisioned for Tsutsu~

As for headcanons... I haven't actually been so industrious myself. (Not to sound too self-pitying, but I've been pretty braindead the past week or two...) Buuut, my lovely twin @2n2n thought up some things and shared them with me recently, and I really just like her idea...❤ I've been granted permission to share.

Not remotely capable of all they seem to. Not like it matters… But I'd like to think communication with the dragons, any dragon, at all, IS SOOOO special and rare and, as in canon not everyone can even be heard, but Nene-chan a special girl… prays and makes offerings often. Amane is like goddddd pant pant rrr that hot girl!!!!!! but he has to be mad shes like often praying for guys… lol… Amane who is a dragon does not understand human romance or dating, his mind sees humans as pretty petty and more than anything desperate to procreate or something (that's what boyfriends are for…) (so many people BEG for child or to save some ugly child or bless their ugly child… all humans care about)… they are like rats or something, you know… he can explain this to Tsukasa uncharitably who is just like, I see… humans do love their big ceremonies for weddings… but they're so pretty �� it would be nice to see the girl like that! dressed up all nice…. ♥

This isn't an ability he has— WELL– he can, ,, bind himself to her (like in canon…) and that's kind of like a relationship, but he can't. put a baby in her, even if it's poss for a dragon let's say you need to be like 5000 years old and of a certain power and veneration and, he is NOT close. But it means there are FABLES and MYTHS and RUMORS of dragon conception… I will have Tsukasa gently sway her to reading about and understanding those myths, thinking about them in some way. Just to lend me credibility…. like blow open a book onto a page about this OK. knock some scroll off a wall while shes dusting. ok

But the. Core of my thought is just Amane appearing before Nene-chan, on a night she is tending a shrine (I want to imagine a shrine-maiden Nene-chan… just sweeps n stuff but yaknow. tThus why she's always heard & always making offerings & Amane is way too aware of her)… and idk, some mumbo jumbo about, her devotion to her duty, a reward in order… and, taking pity on her… have heard her wishes, her pleas, over the many years…

but it'd kind of be a. [silent confusion from Nene-chan] bc she fklsdj;fkdl doesn't want flkdjf; a kid, that's not kglf;gjk;l? but its like [thinks] but ? … if I had a dragon-blessed child…. wouldn't I become some kind of, royalty, surely…? Popular… wouldn't everyone beg to see me and make offerings to me…. wouldn't I then have suitors? I'll have been recognized as special and beautiful by a Godly being… she's Nene-chan so it quickly gets to her head. Amane is patient watching her think like, that's right girl think about it…. I like the result of their bond though meaning... AFTER… a ceremony… and. sex. Nene-chan does have dragon features, though only seen by others with some magic (like canon…)… and Amane+Tsukasa can now don human forms. But I want it to be only after lol… you have to commit to the dragons, in their real bodies.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? Listen. I wrote fics for Hetalia. I used Google Translate, used books to translate, asked people for translations, and also relied on commenters for any troubles. I don't mind if others do it just because I'm used to it from long ago, even if the translation is not quite right.

19. First fandom you wrote for? Technically technically, I used to write little ficlets for Jimmy Neutron back when Nickelodeon had forums on their site! Did I save any of them, of course not, so they are lost to time.

20. Favorite fic you’ve written? "Teach Me Astronomy, Amane-kun!" I started this fic during Covid-19 and at the time I really wanted to write for TBHK because none of my friends watched/read the series and I had so many intense feelings since it became my new obsession. And because I had read so many fics that had Amane obsess over space, another obsession/hobby of mine, I wanted to combine the two to create an (somewhat) educational fic. It was really fun to tell people about an event and to hear in the comments what people saw/did. I fully intend to continue the fic and already have some drafts made up, but this one out of all my fics I desperately want to continue.

UHM im a huge huge fan of prsk, honkai star rail, tbhk, bsd, milgram, vocaloid, undertale/deltarune and i think that's it? i wont go into much detail about other fandoms im in because one specific interest of mine could give away the whole answer to my mystery to some of our shared mutuals JSHSHSHDH but aside from that one im also into enstars bandori and some other rhythm games! not really sure what else to add to that list honestly i forgot everything i have ever liked in my life, i also have many irls from those medias :3

2- honestly? i have been having the biggest labels crisis of my life these past few weeks so pronouns aren't something i really have the ability to specify rn, just use whatever you feel like at the moment and i will be more than happy! curious to see what your perception of my gender ends up being so i can get closer to an answer to my, uhm, current dilemma! for hobbies I like to draw but I’m sorta shy to show people my drawings since it’s like all anime fanart lol but I do have a relatively successful art insta. tokyo ghoul: *takes an extended drag* all the roads lead back here. listen. ishida sui is a master the man is a god what can i say he is like leonardo da vinci 2 me. he is Better than leonardo da vinci 2 me. the serendipity of me being into tg during a very formative time in my art journey (right when i was making the transition into creating my own content) meant that a lot of tg influence ended up kind of bleeding into my work pun intended. Ishida's way of doing eyes n faces is so unbelievably expressive plus the scratchiness of his lines combined w the soft n rounded way he does facial features... thts not even mentioning his coloured works god theyre entrancing i adORE how everything looks like a mix of watercolour and almost . layered tissue paper?? like it's sharp n translucent n angular but everything looks so soft...how he manages to make something look so sharp but so smudged at the same time is witchcraft it looks like smth out of a dream it looks like coloured ink seeping into fabric it looks like fogged stained glass,,, ishida sui my king u will always be famous 2 me

—I thought it might be good to take a break from SS stuff, and remembered the yukishima short thing I wrote for raven’s prompt and was like let’s edit and then post. have edited !!! just neeeds to post but title is being a pain in the backside, lmao. I Cant think of one. like genuinely, even. mind is blank. jfkfkfkfk I SOMEHOW THOUGHT OF TITLE !!! was thinking Shima and went with “double faced” but damn this is making me want to write a whole thing for this now….like the Urge right there hhhhh. really love this lil fic, it’s so good <3 <3 <3

Favourite author: Manga counts right? So it’s AidaIro. I know I sound like a broken record but that is the combined name of both the writer and Illustrator of the Jibaku Shounen Hanako Kun Manga. I can actually answer this question honestly this time cause I didn't really have a favorite author but because of this manga I am actually invested in reading! I never say that and no I don’t read any other manga’s I like the anime of. Just this one. 

Favourite animal noise: Puppy squeaks. Not barking I don’t mind it but I have 4 dogs I have heard enough barking lol. But baby puppy squeaks I could listen to always. 

Random: I’m double jointed is that a good enough one? I’ll try again- This one isn’t so random but my favorite hobby is really complicated jigsaw puzzles. If you didn't know that about me.
