what music i think TMA characters listen to:
Jon: he doesn't really listen to music, and when he does, it's usually whatever's on the radio. but he likes pretty quiet songs that he relates to (sad songs basically) and songs with so many sounds you can't think
Martin: those 2000s cheesy indie love songs on acoustic guitars and video game OSTs
Tim: dude was MADE for girlypop. he knows so many katy perry songs it's even funny. if tma took place in 2024 you better believe he would know all of hot to go
Sasha: she listens to a lot of folk music and show tunes. she has a really beautiful singing voice
Melanie: definitely a lot of riot grrrl music and punk rock. just generally very angry and loud songs y'know ? Georgie listens to pretty similar stuff
Elias: listens to classical music and elton john. nothing else
Gerry: you KNOW my man is listening to finnish metal bands where they scream at the top of their lungs over the loudest music you've ever heard. plus he got gertrude to listen to it
Michael: jack stauber. need I say more

If there's to be an animated Hadestown adaptation, the only studio that should do it is Cartoon Saloon. I know they can get the vision. I know they can get the themes. Just look at Wolfwalkers and The Breadwinner and Song of the Sea. If there's any studio on this planet that can truly elevate Hadestown to it's fullest potential it's Cartoon Saloon!

So as an experiment I listened to 4+ hours of Nickelback recently and I have some interesting Observations:
Their best music is usually either from the 90's when they were a grunge band or very recent
50% of their 2000's music is generic rock that was dated at the time it came out and the other 50% is embarrassingly earnest country
Like I'd be willing to bet that some of their bad reputation came in part from how??? genuine????? their country stuff was?????? And people are allergic to emotion??????
I hate Far Away though. I can't stand it. sounds like a song straight out of a cousin wedding
UNRELATED BUT the rock lyrics are like wow there's a woman. and she's so bad. she's so baddy bad
Also there's a sea shanty version of one of their songs linked to their Spotify and if you listen to 3 hours of Nickelback in a row it is like a breath of fresh air

My take on Jane downed a bottle of hot sauce once just to test if she could taste/drink/eat anything
This did not work and she was later found under a table with her head sitting in front of her as she was trying to clean some blood & hot sauce off of what remains of her neck (ow💀)

You ever associate a song with a character or thing that by all logic and reasoning is completely ridiculous to associate it with but the more you listen to it the more it seems to fit

ok so hear me out about this
Sally feels like she’d listen to Lana Del Rey and Fiona Apple, as well as Britney Spears and Mariah Carey
roe and i just talked a little about this and we think she wouldn’t necessarily be a music-motivated person ahaha
like, she’d tolerate lightnings music (she understands how much it means to him) but otherwise she’d just have some instrumentals playing on the radio as background noise. her head is too noisy with thoughts about work and stuff to listen to music and enjoy it, but something gentle in the background is enough to calm her nerves. she just Likes Sound, not particularly voices.
lightning has no idea how she does it - he Needs music to survive, its something grounding and levels out any over or understimulation that he has . hes literally so oblivious to how she survives without loud music and she has no idea, even though she completely understands why he needs it, how he listens to it So Much. shes shocked that the cassettes for his walkman havent worn out completely yet. and lightning is 100% a country music enjoyer, he would love 60s-90s music so much (his favourite singer is tim mcgraw)
thank you for the ask!! :3

DISHONORED -06 Survival by EagleEyePT
I accidentally missed Song Saturday last week (dealing with stuff at home), so to make up for it, let's have Song Friday and Saturday this week! Starting with a very short piece from the Dishonored soundtrack that I am quite fond of! Now, I have not actually played anything from the Dishonored series, and I've only recently become familiar with said soundtrack, so what is this doing here?
Simple -- this is the theme for the chase sequence in Chapter 5 of "Start At The Beginning...Sort Of." (Well, Chapter 4 by my count, since the first chapter was a prologue, but -- you get what I mean.) As per the author's note, I ended up editing most of that particular bit to this piece of music! What happened was, I became familiar with some other bits of the Dishonored OST thanks to a "Blades In The Dark"-themed playlist I encountered on YouTube (thank you G. Menezes Fink for putting it together), and when I got to the chase sequence, I decided I'd look for some more Dishonored music to see if anything fit the tone I wanted. I then encountered this particular theme in a longer video of the entire OST together and realized it was perfect --
And then went "wait, what, it's only one minute long?!"
Cue me desperately trying to find an extended version of the theme, failing, and having to settle for making this little video loop constantly while I was writing. *shrug* It did the job! So yeah, only makes sense that I would feature it here. :)
