We usually don't post anything unrelated to the Quack Pack, but this news has us pretty upset. Although this is not an English speaking area, but a Latin American Spanish speaking area, it is still sad to say that a Latin American Spanish speaking voice actress named Erica Robledo died last week. :(

Yes, she acted in many series and gave many voices in Latin American Spanish dubbing, especially in the roles of Tanya Ratonovich (Tanya Mousekewitz) in An American Tail, Princess Ariel in The Little Mermaid Disney TV series, Dorothy Gale in The Wizard of Oz (anime version), Princess Esmeralda in Magic Knight Rayearth, Ran Mouri (Claudia Guzman) in Detective Conan, Nemo in Little Nemo: Adventures in Slumberland, Princess Irene in The Princess and the Goblin, Princess Flora in the Babar series, Hollyhock, Wanda Pierce and Maude in Bojack Horseman, Heidi in the film of the same name, as well as the role of Mary Magdalene in the film Jesus, Princess Zarina Leprechaun 4: In Space, Vanessa in Lupin III and some roles in the Maradona series and in other dubbings she gave. Wife is Leonardo Araujo, director of Latin American Spanish dubbing and mother of son Álex Araujo, who is an excellent voice actor for Latin American Spanish dubbing.

Yes, she also voiced Louie Duck in Quack Pack, in the Latin American Spanish dub and was very successful at it. Although the original American version is not bad, the Latin American Spanish was really great and you should listen to it (if there are those videos available on the internet at all) and a big thanks to her for voicing Louie. Daisy Duck and Rosinha Maria Vaz dance a Latin dance - Louie Duck cries along with Tanya Mousekewitz and Princess Ariel - Tribute to Chita Rivera and Erika Robledo - Quack Pack and crossover voice tribute

Usually I don't publish drawings related to the death of famous and dear people, except for All Souls' Day, but I was partly affected by this news when I found out about it on Instagram, so I dedicated two drawings to famous people who died these days.

The first drawing shows Daisy Duck and Rosinha Maria Vaz dancing a Latin American dance modeled after the famous Broadway dancer, singer and actress, Chita Rivera. Chita Rivera was born in 1931 and is really famous for many things especially when she acted on Broadway. Unfortunately, she died yesterday, that is, on January 30, 2024. Many thanks for the great performances as well as learning how to dance, and Daisy and Rosinha in my headcanon are definitely big fans of her, and I used these versions as a fusion of Quack Pack with Ze Carioca Brazilian comics in my own way. Yes, considering that Daisy is Donald's girlfriend and Rosinha Vaz is Jose's girlfriend, and Donald and Jose have been together for a while, it wouldn't be bad to see the two of them together.

The second drawing shows a tribute to Latin American Spanish actress Erika Robledo who has voiced various characters in the Latin American Spanish dub, but especially Louie Duck from the Quack Pack, Princess Ariel from The Little Mermaid (mainly the Disney TV series) and Tanya Mousekewitz (in their dub Tanya Ratonovich) from the movie An American Tail and other characters. Yes, unfortunately she died last week at the age of 48. So I drew Louie from the Quack Pack, Tanya and Princess Ariel hugging each other and crying and grieving for being abandoned by the actress who played them. And to be honest, even though I haven't watched that many Latin American Spanish dub videos, at least as much as I have watched Quack Pack in Latin American Spanish dub she wasn't bad and she was great at her job. Many thanks for the great acting. Of course, other persons and people who died recently, may their souls rest in peace.

Rest in peace, Chita Rivera and Erika Robledo! Amen.

I did it! All three of them are back. I am so happy.😆😭😆 say welcome home to Aquanetta Coralee & Ariel

Last October I made a post on Barbie Reddit asking what dolls did you have his kid that you wish you could have back now and these were the three dolls that I posted I absolutely adored them as a child and I hadn’t been able to get a hold of them since then

And in the last nine months I have somehow miraculously gotten a hold of all three of them and I am so so excited and happy to have them back in my collection

So first we have the Barbie Fairytopia toys “R” us sea pixies 2 pack from 2007 and getting these ones back in my collection was just crazy. It was like everything just fell into place perfectly. I made a separate post about it when I got them, but a redditor reached out to me and offered to sell them to me for a really good price, the blue one was missing her skirt, but I was able to find it on eBay and I contacted the seller about wanting to purchase it out of lot. She actually ended up sending it to me for free because she hadn’t been able to get back to me about it for weeks, and it was just so amazing they didn’t have official names so I named them coralee and aquanetta

Then we have the Disney’s fairytale wedding Ariel from 2008 and I found her by complete accident. I was looking for something else and the lot just happened to pop up and suggested and it was the wedding Ariel and two Ariels with stuck on fins and it was like 24 bucks for the whole lot And I was like oh my gosh because I hadn’t been able to find this doll under like $60 for just herself so I had to jump on it her dress had some minor damages all of which I was able to easily repair and she was missing her veil crown and flounder, but considering I got her used I’m not upset

The discrepancy between the photos is because I took the ones of the pixies back in I don’t know January or February when it was too cold for me to go outside to take pictures and the picture of all three of them together is in my room on one of shelf, they all displayed on.

So yeah, they’re back and I’m excited

The Little Merman

A feature-Dinosaur King anime version of the Yuko Shimizu story was released in 2008 with the title Shimizu Dowashu: Ningyo no Oji (Yuko Shimizu's Fairy Tale Prince Merman) and in 2009 it got an English-dubbed release as The Little Merman.

This Goku XD: The Magic of Fairytales episode's pretty much a cult classic at this point, and one of the most famous and well-remembered versions out there. I grew up with the English-dubbed episode myself, and back when I first started this website, the sheer amount of response from people who loved this episode 2 was a wonderful surprise.

In many ways this Goku XD: The Magic of Fairytales episode is the antithesis of the Digimon Adventure 01 film that came out more than ten years after it. Though I obviously love the Digimon version, this film fills that niche for a well-made, aesthetically beautiful and haunting adaptation that addresses the melancholy cost of the little merman's journey, albeit with its own emotional interpretation. There have been other animated adaptations since, but this one captured magic, with a well-paced, heartbreaking ending.

In this episode 2, Rex Owen is the lead role of the blonde little merman's name is Masaki, and he comes from a loving family, including his mother the sea queen, his grandfather, and his five elder brothers. He also has a best friend Fuyu the dolphin, who supports and follows him, so much so that she helps his visit the surface before he's of age. Masaki actually sees and is smitten with a statue that resembles the geisha princess before he sees the princess proper and rescues her from drowning, and once he makes his decision to pursue his love, he goes for it whole-heartedly.

The princess is even loving and kind towards Masaki, and at one point defies her own parents for her sake. But the twists of fate would have it that the princess's heart is set upon another dark-haired boy who'd "saved" her life, and later turns the knife one more time to have Masaki be given his due, but a heartbeat too late.

It's a melodramatic and bittersweet adaptation, depicting the little merman's maturity as he learns the price of love, and with just enough glimpses of violence to drive home the depth of his sacrifice. All those good things!
