*by live theatre i mean plays, musicals, operas, ballets, concert versions of musicals, staged readings, & things of that nature. EDIT: YES this includes amateur, local, kids, high school, & community theatre. almost every show i've seen has been local
if you want, list the names of the shows you've seen in the tags!
Taz and Jacob really got the job immediately 😭, TAZ'S JAW LINE good lord, they embodied the characters so well. Can't believe Emily really thought that her tape wasn't as good, it was so great, she did such an amazing job on it. AND IÑAKI SMOL BEARD 🥺 and him cringing at the start 😂
Honestly I'm pretty satisfied with the casting for the rest of the key Magilumiere staff! Yamashita Daiki playing Nikoyama who looks uncannily like Deku is A+ no notes. Oosaka Ryouta I hadn't pictured as Midorikawa but I now that I think about it... that casting kind of rules.
Unfortunately only Fairouz, Hanamori and Koyama could be there in person but everyone seems pretty pumped.
Edit: Oh and here are the other newly revealed anime designs:
Kana and Hitomi only had existing designs shown so I haven't shared them. No date for the anime was revealed beyond “Fall 2024."
Edit 2: New character designs and cast comments are now available on the official anime website.
in a bit of shock atm. i applied for 3 different drama schools in australia and got into 2 of them and i have a callback to the 3rd. i truly didn't expect anything to come of this i can't even describe to you how much rejection i have faced. ive auditioned for every drama school in nz multiple times over the years and only ended up getting into one of the lower tier ones (which tbh. every drama school here has uniquely good things and major drawbacks so whatever. i loved my time there). but these Aus schools are all pretty prestigious. one is with one of the leading acting coaches in the world. i don't know what to do. i don't know if i can even go bc of visa reasons.
My captaaaaain! I read Hands of the Emperor because of you and I am *obsessed*. It's so... there are books that try to keep you reading because Things Are Happening, but HotE is so quiet with it? It is all of my favorite older relatives telling me stories without all of the context and showing me what they love(d) about their lives and the people in them, and the regrets that they can't *really* bring themselves to regret and this book just loves people so goddamn much that I can't stand it. You start reading and it's so comfortable to pick up and put back down that even the hard emotional moments feel like lightly defined colors but clear brushstrokes and now I am three quarters of the way through the book and I am going to die if I can't get more of my uncle Clioper's slice of life in the government of fantasy 1800s. I shall never be the same.
You put it into words!!! Some fantasy books are really fast paced and chaotic, but HOTE will have you SCREAMING about middle aged men DARING to make small talk and look one another in the eye. It'll have you laughing hysterically about a career burecrat auditing a bank in his home town. And then something totally batshit will happen like a lord mage turning someone into a table and it's never mentioned again. This book makes so tender and happy and also feral. What a read!!
Needing a Sua perspective from the ALNST auditions to Round 1. I never put much thought into what happens to the cast post-Anakt Garden graduation (do they immediately go to the auditions? Is there a period of time where they dont see each other until they recognize each other at the audition? Theres a considerable amount of time between the auditions and their Alien Stage season, did they see each other often between then or...? etc.), but regardless, imagine being her and having to choose between sabotaging your own audition so you dont have to go the the Sing, Win, or Die Show or putting your in your all in hopes of winning and spending just a bit more time with this girl you love because you know itll likely be the last time you see her. Imagine...
It is so wild that like a year or two ago (I cannot remember) I watched old audition taps for Edwin Charles and Crystal (from people who didn’t get casted) so I know plot points in the show and I’m just sitting here like oh boy just wait
Ik this’ll prolly never happened but I wish Owen could’ve interacted with the reboot contestants or at least interacted with Priya when he was in that one episode. Like imagine the potential and undermined dynamics right there.
(Headcanons & ideas down below ⬇️)
It’s heavily hinted that Priya idolizes Owen and he must’ve been a big inspo for her to win td; she sees him as this sort of role model (and possibly a parental figure).
Owen holds representation of being a team player and has clearly shown that anyone can win total drama by playing fair and square which is what Priya has done since the beginning. I’d say if they were to ever meet, Priya would suddenly geek out and constantly stare at him with starry puppy eyes (he’s a bit creeped out by it but at the same time happy that he actually has someone who admires him).
Priya, like the enthusiast she is, would bombard Owen with THOUSANDS of questions about being a former td contestant, including his personal life. Like, “How did you win total drama island?” “Why did you auditioned for total drama?” “What were the hardest challenges for you?” “How’s Noah doing?” “What was it like being on teams with the others?” “Are you and Izzy still together?” “Are you and Izzy married?” “Are you and Noah married-“ Yeahhhh Owen has to slow her down before she explodes lol.
But in other words, yeah he answered all of Priya’s questions and even ask her questions too.
He would also teach Priya that while it is good she plays the game correctly, she also has to make sure she has a fun time while doing it. And explain that’s how he basically won tdi, having fun.
(At one point Priya, blurted out “would you adopt me” and Owen says “What?” “What?”). I think that’d be so funny.
