SMYRNA, Ga. - Smyrna police say a homeowner shot and killed a man who was breaking into his house Sunday evening.
First responders raced to the home near the corner of Lochlomand Lane and Highland Drive. Detectives immediately went to work. Police tape was visible along a dirt path which leads to the backyard of the house.
Police have not released the name of the homeowner or the man who was shot and killed.
Neighbors are stunned.
"That's very terrifying to hear in this type of neighborhood," said Paige Nowacki, who lives nearby.
Neighbors say this really is a quiet neighborhood. Just a couple of miles from Truist Park, they say this is the kind of place where everybody waves to each other. They say crime is practically unheard of, and they are stunned there was a deadly shooting.
"People protecting their houses. It happens more times than not. I'm glad the homeowners are okay and protected themselves. Still, it's terrifying," said Nowacki.
"There's going to be a million arguments on why it's a good or bad thing or surprising or not," said another neighbor, Dakota Jarrad.
Jarrad moved into the neighborhood last year. He says he works with firearms and is trained to know how to use them to protect himself.
"You get it for a sense of protection, but you don't want to use it," said Jarrad.
Police say the investigation is still underway. At this time, no charges have been filed against the homeowner.

Loch Lomand
This is the largest lake in Great Britain by surface area. So I wouldn’t recommend swimming in it, as it goes on for miles. There are some beautiful places to stop off on the way to admire the views -TommyC.
Highly recommend the boat trip on Loch Lomand and a wee dram whilst you’re at it. I love a boat trip and the stunning panoramas offered by this particular one are worth every penny - RoxyC.
Opening hours: 24/7 for the loch, check the boat tour times at the time of your visit.
Cost: A couple of quid for farm entry to support the conservation work they do here. You can also book accommodation on the farm too, obviously at additional cost.
Side note: The loch may look beautiful but we were warned of its perilous nature by the locals. As with any body of water only enter if you have local knowledge, are a strong swimmer and treat the water with the respect it deserves.

Let’s start NOW.
I have put off getting started with this blog for quite some time. I wasn’t sure where to start since I already have a year of undocumented travel under my belt. Should I go back to the beginning, or just try to put everything up at once? I realize that the more I wonder and contemplate when to start, the longer I take to actually post anything... So I give you the experience that propelled me to stop thinking so much, and start sharing!

Conic Hill, Balmaha, Scotland                                                         June 18, 2017
Tumblr media
In a spontaneous decision the night before, I furiously googled where I could go to see the true beauty of Scotland that I had always heard about and dreamt to experience myself. Something that would make me feel like I’m living in a GOT or LOTR book (I am reading GOT currently, hence the inspiration). I came across Conic Hill and decided to take the plunge and see where this spontaneous decision took me!
Flash forward one hour on a train from Glasgow to Balloch and another 20 minute bus from Balloch to Balmaha, I arrived at the trailhead... And went the wrong way, of course. No problem, I could use the exercise! After asking for directions from some friendly Scots I got back on track and hiked up to the peak of Conic Hill to see the breathtaking view of Loch Lomond!
Tumblr media
On the way up, I said hello to many friendly Scots as they smiled at my flushed face, took more “water breaks” than I’d care to admit, muddied my new Adidas Ultra Boost shoes (I wasn’t expecting to hike when I initially packed...ugh...) and I had one of the best experiences of my life. I swear I sat around in such awe with my mouth hanging open and kept looking at strangers with an expression of “IS THIS REAL?” only to have my view block by people taking selfies and FaceTiming their mom... (Okay, I can’t judge. I FaceTimed briefly also, but only because I was hiking alone!)
I saw Scottish sheep and cows with bangs, and even went off the trail to find a secluded spot with a great view to eat lunch with. I took about 40 panoramic pictures of the same thing and still feel like I wasn’t able to capture the experience the way it felt in the moment. All I can say is that this is a beautiful country, with friendly people and so much to explore (if you don’t mind the clouds and rain).
Today, I am inspired. Inspired to venture out of the cities, stop “staying safe” so much, and check out the natural beauty of the countries I visit. Don’t get me wrong, I love the cobblestone roads and the castles around every corner, but I’m ready to experience the Earth, untouched.
Tumblr media
More to come, I promise.                                                                                xoxo

Fashion - Brand ‘Vans’
Tumblr media Tumblr media
These are the two final images that i got for my Fashion brand brief. Decided to go with these two shots as i feel they give the feel and atmosphere that i was looking to create.
Using the beach and the fact that we are having abnormally sunny weather at the moment, took these images inspired by the Californian Beach atmosphere that you get in a lot of ‘Vans’ marketing material. But adding my own flair to it that i feel gives it a unique look and would make people interested in buying there clothes.
The first image being of the model wearing the ‘Vans’ Jacket and shoes, being on a pier, decided to use a low depth of field than i normally would (F4.0) for something like this, and felt that it worked well in making the model stand out from the background whilst keeping the detail on the subject and the clothing. The pier, having the water in the background separates the subject from the background nicely also, whilst still giving the viewer the feeling that she is beside the seaside.
The second image being the product shot of the ‘Vans’ shoes, propped them up on a rock that we had carried over from the other beach as this gave a more natural position and showing off the shoe in the best light, whilst still keeping the beach, sunny atmosphere that i was looking for. Again using (F4.0) and a reflector to bounce some light back onto the shoes, gave nice depth to the image whilst keeping the shoes the main focal point of the image.
