the endless list of my favorite movies : Inception (2010) written and directed by Christopher Nolan.
-She had locked something away, something deep inside her. The truth that she had once known, but... she chose to forget. Limbo became her reality. -What happened when you woke up? -To wake up from that after, after years, after decades… after we'd become old souls thrown back into youth like that… I knew something was wrong with her. She just wouldn't admit it. Eventually, she told me the truth. She was possessed by an idea, this one, very simple idea, that changed everything. That our world wasn't real. That she needed to wake up to come back to reality, that, in order to get back home, we had to kill ourselves.

PERCY PUTTING MEDUSAS UNCOVERED HEAD IN HIS KITCHEN FRIDGE WITH A “NEVER OPEN THE FRIDGE EVER LOVE PERCY” NOTE, PROMPTING A PETTY GABE TO OPEN IT AND GET ROCKED BY MEDUSA. truly the rick and morty parody of a 2010 YA fantasy novel turned franchise movie. it’s defining redeeming factor: annabeth is taller than percy.

PAIRINGS: Tom 2010 x Female reader CONTENT: ANGST + SMUT + FLUFF SYPNOSIS: Y/N wants to go to a friends birthday party but Tom knows that there will be a bunch of guys there and ones that he really didn't like. Y/N is really upset but decides to play it cool so she can sneak out later, she wasn't going to miss her friends birthday cause of Tom. A/N: AHHH WARNINGS: dom!tom, sub!reader, p in v (missionary), rough fingering, overstimulation, degrading
"Hey Tom, I'm going to my friends party tonight" I approached him as he cooked us lunch, he furrowed his eyebrow "which friend?" turning his head to face me, "casandra" I smiled and hugged his waist from behind.
He grunted, "the one who knows every single guy I hate" I rolled my eyes "Tom it's fine, they probably won't be there" he turned around and towered over me "no, you aren't going, I know what she's like and I know what those guys are like" he growled lowly.
"Tom! That's not fair it's her birthday!" I whined, he grabbed my arm softly "I said no, nothing you say will convince me, sit down and eat" he sighed.
I hesitated for a second but obliged, he was right, nothing would convince him, but that doesn't mean I don't have other ways. I kept my cool so he wouldn't suspect me of doing anything later in the night.
After dinner we cleaned up and watched a movie, I tried to make everything as smooth as possible and texted casandra my plan, we had decided that 12am would be the best time for me to arrive and that I'd call an uber.
As the movie finished I acted sleepy, slouching on him. I felt his arms wrap around me and lift me up, "time for bed baby.." he chuckled and carried me to the bed, plopping me on there and coming up behind me, spooning me tightly. "Goodnight..." I mumbled, my facade working perfectly.
"Goodnight baby girl, sleep well" he kissed the top of my head, nuzzling his face into my neck.
As Tom layed asleep, I slowly peeled his arms off me, getting up from the bed and slipping on the dress I had hid beside the bed. He slowly woke up, tossing and turning "mm, baby where are you going.." he mumbled.
I cursed under my breath and turned to face him, luckily it was dark so he couldn't see the outfit I was in right now. "Just going to the bathroom baby go back to sleep.." I whispered and walked into the bathroom, quickly doing my makeup and hair.
As I opened the door I heard Tom softly snoring, I sighed, feeling a bit guilty but knew I had to go to this party, after all it was my friends birthday.
I slowly walked to the window, opening it quietly and jumping out. There was grass on the bottom so it didn't make a lot of noise, then I quickly slipped my heels on and ran off, jumping into my uber.
I arrived at her house, music blasting from the inside, vibrating the ground. I stepped inside and greeted casandra, handing her a bottle of vodka I had stopped to get on the way as a present. She smiled brightly and kissed my cheek, running to her bedroom and stashing it there. As she came back she hugged me, "oh thank you so much that is my favourite brand of vodka" I chuckled "yeah I knoww, but why did you lock it away, aren't you gonna drink it tonight?" she scoffed "no way! That is special and it's expensive so I'm keeping it for myself" she tapped my chin teasingly, I smiled and apprecited what she'd done.
As the night strung along, I had 3 cocktails and 4 shots, I was pretty drunk but not too drunk and decided to leave it at that, I wanted to talk with people and have fun, not be blackout drunk and possibly get kidnapped.
I talked to multiple people, some of the guys Tom hated weren't that bad, they were respectful and really nice. The conversation never turned sexual and always focused on goals and achievements.
TOMS POV:
I woke up to a cold breeze hitting me, confused, thinking I had left the window open. I went to get up but realized Y/N wasn't in bed with me, I remember her getting up for the toilet but that was ages ago..wasn't it?
I checked the time and it was 4am, I got up and checked the bathroom, nothing, the kitchen, nothing, the living room, nothing.
Then it sparked and I realized what she had done, I shouldn't of fell for it, she acted too calm about the situation. Usually she'd get really upset and argue with me about it for hours but she was pretty accepting of it.
I rubbed my temples in frustration, anger coursing through my body. "For fuck sakes..she's in so much fucking trouble" I grunted and grabbed my keys, slamming the front door and getting into my car, speeding off to this shitty party.
Y/NS POV:
At this point the party was pretty much finished, everyone was either passed out in various spots around the house or had gone home. I decided to go outside and have a cigarette with the guy I was talking to. We talked about high school and all the stupid things we did.
As I was taking a drag of my cigarette I suddenly heard crackling sounds, screeching of tires filling the air, I rolled my eyes and assumed it was some stupid teenagers doing burnout, but I listened more closely, a small squeeking noise, the noise that hit too close to home.
A sound that would only come from Tom's car, my eyes widened as I realised I had been caught, there was no way I was going to be able to walk tomorrow. I thought I successfully got away with it.
I watched as Tom's car came to a halt, his dark figure emerging from the car and storming over towards me. When the light illuminated his face I saw the pure rage and disgust in his eyes, his fists clenched at his sides and his chest heaving up and down.
"Why the fuck did you sneak out" he yelled "and why the fuck are you with him?" he scoffed, mocking the guy. He just rolled his eyes and walked off, giving me a 'goodluck' look.
"I knew you weren't going to be convinced with anything I said so I took matters into my own hands" I said non chalantly, shrugging my shoulders. I saw anger flash in his eyes, he grabbed my arm roughly "I'm not fucking dealing with your attitude, wait till we get home" he growled lowly, dragging me to the car.
No matter how angry he was, Tom never ever hit me, not a single finger or anything. He wasn't so rough with me to the point where I was bruised or hurt. Yes, he can be rough at times but the thought of hurting me has never crossed his mind.
He shoved me in and got into the drivers seat, starting the car and speeding off back home. I slouched in my seat, "I wasn't going to miss my friends birthday party because you don't approve of a group of guys, they weren't even bad, they were so nice to me" crossing my arms, his grip tightened on the wheel, his jaw clenching roughly.
"Shut up, you dont know what they're capable of" he pulled into the driveway, I got out of the car and slammed the door, walking inside the house. I set down my things on the couch and sat down, sighing deeply. My head was throbbing from all the alcohol, Tom emerged into the room and looked down at me "go to the bedroom and strip, now" he demanded, his tone cruel and dark.
I scoffed "no, I'm going to sit here and watch a movie and then go to bed" he chuckled angrily and grabbed me, pulling me closer to him. He towered over me, looking at me threateningly "do as your told or you won't be able to walk at all tomorrow" I sighed in defeat and walked upstairs, stepping into our shared bedroom, taking my dress off.
I threw it to the side and clipped my bra off, sliding my panties off, disposing of those too. I sat on the bed and waited for him, nervous and excited for what awaited me.
I heard Toms heavy footsteps coming closer, he stormed into the room, slamming the door shut behind him. "Always acting like a fucking brat" he walked towards me, pulling me up and smashing his lips into mine, I moaned into the kiss, giving him access to shove his tongue into my mouth.
Our tongues fought for dominance, his hand sliding down to my ass and giving it a harsh smack, I yelped and pulled away. His head buried into the crook of my neck, kissing and sucking harshly, leaving marks everywhere, "you're mine.." he growled, pushing me onto the bed harshly, climbing on top of me and loosening his belt, taking his pants off in a hurry, rage still filled in his eyes.
"Can't even listen to me, you have to act out" he reached out and grabbed my thighs pulling them closer towards him, I felt his clothed erection press against my aching pussy, "mm..please.." I mumbled, begging for his cock.
He grabbed my hair roughly, tugging on it, "don't be impatient, or you'll get nothing" he spat, I whined as I watched him pull his cock out. It stood tall, throbbing and super veiny.
"You're going to take it like the fucking slut you are, ok?" he demanded, grabbing my chin roughly to face him, I nodded and bit my lip, feeling his tip tease my entrance.
I knew I couldn't complain, all I had to do was sit there and painfully wait for his massive cock to punish me. "Oh fuck!" I cried out as he shoved half of his length in, my pussy resisting his cock. He grunted and grabbed my hips, digging his nails into them and leaving deep marks on the skin, trying to push himself in more.
"Fucking hell" he groaned, spitting on his hands and rubbing it onto the rest of his cock, slowly pushing in and fitting all of himself in me. I felt super full, unable to even think.
"Fuck.." I whispered my head lolling back, he chuckled evily, retracting his cock and slamming it back in, creating a brutal pace, his tip instatly hitting my g spot, abusing it.
"Ah! Too much Tom!" I whimpered, he growled and went faster, "you shouldn't of acted up so much..could've avoided this" his cock rammed in and out of me, my pussy able to handle everything that was happening.
Tom was pretty big, 8 inches. Even when he was gentle it hurt. But he always made sure I was ok, I guess this time was different, his cock balls deep in me, pounding into me mercilessly.
The pain slowly turned into pleasure, my clit was aching, desperate for attention. I cried out, grabbing one of his hands and moving it to his clit, he chuckled "so needy huh? my cock can't satisfy you enough?" his fingers latching onto my clit and rubbing rough circles.
"Such a slut.." he mumbled, growing more and more impatient. "You're so lucky, I give you everything and yet you still fucking act out", I whimpered "sorry..", he rolled his eyes "sorry won't cut it" his grip loosening on my hips and removing a hand off my clit, moving to my breasts, squeezing them tightly.
I moaned as his fingers grazed over my sensitive nipples, wrapping my legs around his waist and bringing him in closer, the pleasure hitting me in intense waves, making me arch my back.
Tom grinned as I arched my back, his head diving into my tits, sucking them cruely, his teeth biting my nipples softly.
I felt a knot building in my stomach, slowly coiling down to my core, his hips slapping against mine in a rhythmic pattern, he took me hard and fast, his breath came in ragged gasps as his release built up.
"Cum with me baby.." he growled, catching my lips in a rough kiss. I kissed him back, his tongue slipping into my mouth. With every powerful thrust, he relished the feeling of my body wrapping around him like a second skin. "Holy fuck...gonna cum" he groaned, my tight walls clenching around his cock sent waves on pleasure coursing throughout his body.
With one last brutal thrust he emptied himself in me, painting my walls white. Shortly after his orgasm I came too, my body shuddering as i did.
He slowly pulled out, crawling behind me on the bed and grabbing me, pulling me closer. I felt his cock pressed up against my back and his fingers slithering around to my pussy, sliding 2 figits in my pussy and pushing our cum back in.
I whimpered, the overstimulation setting in, "tommy no! too much!" I complained, tears falling down my cheeks, "shut up.." he said coldly, thrusting his fingers in roughly, curling his fingers at my g spot.
"Cum for me again.." he growled, slamming his fingers in and out. I was so wet that the wrong move would send his fingers flying out of me. He held me tightly and reached his thumb up to rub my clit.
I was becoming super overstimulated, the pleasure way too much for me. "Tom!" I cried out, nearing another orgasm.
"Cmon!" he shouted, pounding my pussy with his fingers, my pussy clenched again, engulfing his fingers. "Fuck yeah.." he muttered, teasing my g spot.
"Mmm! Gonna cum!" I cried out, cumming all over his fingers, whimpering as the orgasm hurt a little. He pulled his fingers out, licking the juices off clean.
He looked down at me, my body shaking and my eyes droopy, "oh baby..you're so sleepy" he chuckles, grabbing my small frame and laying us properly on the bed, holding me tight.
"This is what happens when you disobey me baby..you know that" he sighed, "when will you learn" he stroked my hair softly as I fell asleep in his arms.

I know I'm going to be insane about Lisa Frankenstein for the rest of the year and I loved every bit of it. Today, I want to talk about female rage, especially teenager female rage portrayed in the movie.
I was a teenage girl not that long ago (notably in the late 2010's, when I hadn't even known I was non-binary), and what I remember about it is that people, (family members, teachers, adults in my life) never wanted me to be angry. I was a ball of emotions, but I had to be the rational one. I had to be the centered one. Not my little brother, or even my older brother, not my male classmates, just me and the other teenage girls. I couldn't lose my head or I was a bitch. I couldn't cry or I was a sensitive baby. I had to be happy or I wasn't worth the attention of others.
Lisa has the same problem every other girl has. If you have complex emotions, like grief or anger or sadness, nobody wants to see them. You can deal with that stuff on your own. Taffy gets the attention because she hides those "unsavory" emotions behind smiles and mascara. When she finally shows any kind of trauma, she is ignored, thrown away like a piece of garbage.
That's why I love Lisa and the Creature's relationship. The Creature can tell that Lisa is struggling, and he knows the consequences of what it is to be a woman whose emotions are different or hard to hide. He saw it in the early 1800's, where woman were considered crazy or filled with hysteria if they didn't conform to the standards men wanted them to be. They had wandering womb syndrome, or they were old maids, or they were locked up, literally hidden from society.
He sees Lisa struggling, and does everything in his power to make her feel validated in her struggles. Her rage doesn't make him hate her, just the opposite. Her sadness is his vindication to go after the ones that hurt her. When she feels happy, true happiness, he does too. He accepts her for the flawed human being she is, and in return, so does she.
Everything she does for him only changes him physically. His emotions never change for her. He doesn't get mad at her when she acts irrational. He's jealous when she goes to Michael's, but still drives her anyway and protects her when she gets hurt, literally shielding her with his body.
More movies need to show that teenage girls that are flawed. Teenage girls are angry. They aren't pretty little flowers. They feel rage and anger in a system when their pain is mitigated.
I want more teenage girls in film to fight people, get angry, chop off abuser's hands, or just allowed to show those "bad" emotions. It doesn't make them villains. It doesn't make them horrible people. It makes them human.

Couch surfer in his 30s. Oscar winner in his 40s. Why the whole world wants Taika
**Notes: This is very long post!**
Good Weekend
In his 30s, he was sleeping on couches. By his 40s, he’d directed a Kiwi classic, taken a Marvel movie to billion-dollar success, and won an Oscar. Meet Taika Waititi, king of the oddball – and one of New Zealand’s most original creative exports.
Tumblr media
Taika Waititi: “Be a nice person and live a good life. And just don’t be an arsehole.”
The good news? Taika Waititi is still alive. I wasn’t sure. The screen we were speaking through jolted savagely a few minutes ago, with a cacophonous bang and a confused yelp, then radio silence. Now the Kiwi filmmaker is back, grinning like a loon: “I just broke the f---ing table, bro!”
Come again? “I just smashed this f---ing table and glass flew everywhere. It’s one of those old annoying colonial tables. It goes like this – see that?” Waititi says, holding up a folding furniture leg. “I hit the mechanism and it wasn’t locked. Anyway …”
I’m glad he’s fine. The stuff he’s been saying from his London hotel room could incur biblical wrath. We’re talking about his latest project, Next Goal Wins, a movie about the American Samoa soccer team’s quest to score a solitary goal, 10 years after suffering the worst loss in the game’s international history – a 31-0 ignominy to Australia – but our chat strays into spirituality, then faith, then religion.
“I don’t personally believe in a big guy sitting on a cloud judging everyone, but that’s just me,” Waititi says, deadpan. “Because I’m a grown-up.”
This is the way his interview answers often unfold. Waititi addresses your topic – dogma turns good people bad, he says, yet belief itself is worth lauding – but bookends every response with a conspiratorial nudge, wink, joke or poke. “Regardless of whether it’s some guy living on a cloud, or some other deity that you’ve made up – and they’re all made up – the message across the board is the same, and it’s important: Be a nice person, and live a good life. And just don’t be an arsehole!”
Not being an arsehole seems to have served Waititi, 48, well. Once a national treasure and indie darling (through the quirky tenderness of his breakout New Zealand films Boy in 2010 and Hunt for the Wilderpeople in 2016), Waititi then became a star of both the global box office (through his 2017 entry into the Marvel Universe, Thor: Ragnarok, which grossed more than $1.3 billion worldwide) and then the Academy Awards (winning the 2020 best adapted screenplay Oscar for his subversive Holocaust dramedy JoJo Rabbit, in which he played an imaginary Hitler).
Tumblr media

A handsome devil with undeniable roguish charm, Waititi also slid seamlessly into style-icon status (attending this year’s Met Gala shirtless, in a floor-length gunmetal-grey Atelier Prabal Gurung wrap coat, with pendulous pearl necklaces), as well as becoming his own brand (releasing an eponymous line of canned coffee drinks) and bona fide Hollywood A-lister (he was introduced to his second wife, British singer Rita Ora, by actor Robert Pattinson at a barbecue).
Putting that platform to use, Waititi is an Indigenous pioneer and mentor, too, co-creating the critically acclaimed TV series Reservation Dogs, while co-founding the Piki Films production company, committed to promoting the next generation of storytellers – a mission that might sound all weighty and worthy, yet Waititi’s new wave of First Nations work is never earnest, always mixing hurt with heart and howling humour.
Tumblr media

Makes sense. Waititi is a byproduct of “the weirdest coupling ever” – his late Maori father from the Te Whanau-a-Apanui tribe was an artist, farmer and “Satan’s Slaves” bikie gang founder, while his Wellington schoolteacher mum descended from Russian Jews, although he’s not devout about her faith. (“No, I don’t practise,” he confirms. “I’m just good at everything, straight away.”)
He’s remained loyally tethered to his origin story, too – and to a cadre of creative Kiwi mates, including actors Jemaine Clement and Rhys Darby – never forgetting that not long before the actor/writer/producer/director was an industry maven, he was a penniless painter/photographer/ musician/comedian.
With no set title and no fixed address, he’s seemingly happy to be everything, everywhere (to everyone) all at once. “‘The universe’ is bandied around a lot these days, but I do believe in the kind of connective tissue of the universe, and the energy that – scientifically – we are made up of a bunch of atoms that are bouncing around off each other, and some of the atoms are just squished together a bit tighter than others,” he says, smiling. “We’re all made of the same stardust, and that’s pretty special.”
-----------------------------------------------
We’ve caught Waititi in a somewhat relaxed moment, right before the screen actors’ and media artists’ strike ends. He’s sensitive to the struggle but doesn’t deny enjoying the break. “I spent a lot of time thinking about writing, and not writing, and having a nice holiday,” he tells Good Weekend. “Honestly, it was a good chance just to recombobulate.”
Tumblr media

It’s mid-October, and he’s just headed to Paris to watch his beloved All Blacks in the Rugby World Cup. He’s deeply obsessed with the game, and sport in general. “Humans spend all of our time knowing what’s going to happen with our day. There’s no surprises any more. We’ve become quite stagnant. And I think that’s why people love sport, because of the air of unpredictability,” he says. “It’s the last great arena entertainment.”
The main filmic touchstone for Next Goal Wins (which premieres in Australian cinemas on New Year’s Day) would be Cool Runnings (1993), the unlikely true story of a Jamaican bobsled team, but Waititi also draws from genre classics such as Any Given Sunday and Rocky, sampling trusted tropes like the musical training montage. (His best one is set to Everybody Wants to Rule the World by Tears for Fears.)
Filming in Hawaii was an uplifting experience for the self-described Polynesian Jew. “It wasn’t about death, or people being cruel to each other. Thematically, it was this simple idea, of getting a small win, and winning the game wasn’t even their goal – their goal was to get a goal,” he says. “It was a really sweet backbone.”
Waititi understands this because, growing up, he was as much an athlete as a nerd, fooling around with softball and soccer before discovering rugby league, then union. “There’s something about doing exercise when you don’t know you’re doing exercise,” he enthuses. “It’s all about the fun of throwing a ball around and trying to achieve something together.” (Whenever Waititi is in Auckland he joins his mates in a long-running weekend game of touch rugby. “And then throughout the week I work out every day. Obviously. I mean, look at me.”)
Auckland is where his kids live, too, so he spends as much time there as possible. Waititi met his first wife, producer Chelsea Winstanley, on the set of Boy in 2010, and they had two daughters, Matewa Kiritapu, 8, and his firstborn, Te Kainga O’Te Hinekahu, 11. (The latter is a derivative of his grandmother’s name, but he jokes with American friends that it means “Resurrection of Tupac” or “Mazda RX7″) Waititi and Winstanley split in about 2018, and he married the pop star Ora in 2022.
He offers a novel method for balancing work with parenthood … “Look, you just abandon them, and know that the experience will make them harder individuals later on in life. And it’s their problem,” he says. “I’m going to give them all of the things that they need, and I’m going to leave behind a decent bank account for their therapy, and they will be just like me, and the cycle will continue.”
Jokes aside – I think he’s joking – school holidays are always his, and he brings the girls onto the set of every movie he makes. “They know enough not to get in the way or touch anything that looks like it could kill you, and they know to be respectful and quiet when they need to. But they’re just very comfortable around filmmakers, which I’m really happy about, because eventually I hope they will get into the industry. One more year,” he laughs, “then they can leave school and come work for Dad.”
Theirs is certainly a different childhood than his. Growing up, he was a product of two worlds. His given names, for instance, were based on his appearance at birth: “Taika David” if he looked Maori (after his Maori grandfather) and “David Taika” if he looked Pakeha (after his white grandfather). His parents split when he was five, so he bounced between his dad’s place in Waihau Bay, where he went by the surname Waititi, and his mum, eight hours drive away in Wellington, where he went by Cohen (the last name on his birth certificate and passport).
Waititi was precocious, even charismatic. His mother Robin once told Radio New Zealand that people always wanted to know him, even as an infant: “I’d be on a bus with him, and he was that kind of baby who smiled at people, and next thing you know they’re saying, ‘Can I hold your baby?’ He’s always been a charmer to the public eye.”
He describes himself as a cool, sporty, good-looking nerd, raised on whatever pop culture screened on the two TV channels New Zealand offered in the early 1980s, from M*A*S*H and Taxi to Eddie Murphy and Michael Jackson. He was well-read, too. When punished by his mum, he would likely be forced to analyse a set of William Blake poems.
He puts on a whimpering voice to describe their finances – “We didn’t have much monneeey” – explaining how his mum spent her days in the classroom but also worked in pubs, where he would sit sipping a raspberry lemonade, doodling drawings and writing stories. She took in ironing and cleaned houses; he would help out, learning valuable lessons he imparts to his kids. “And to random people who come to my house,” he says. “I’ll say, ‘Here’s a novel idea, wash this dish,’ but people don’t know how to do anything these days.”
“Every single character I’ve ever written has been based on someone I’ve known or met or a story I’ve stolen from someone.” - Taika Waititi
He loved entertaining others, clearly, but also himself, recording little improvised radio plays on a tape deck – his own offbeat versions of ET and Indiana Jones and Star Wars. “Great free stuff where you don’t have any idea what the story is as you’re doing it,” he says. “You’re just sort of making it up and enjoying the freedom of playing god in this world where you can make people and characters do whatever you want.”
His other sphere of influence lay in Raukokore, the tiny town where his father lived. Although Boy is not autobiographical, it’s deeply personal insofar as it’s filmed in the house where he grew up, and where he lived a life similar to that portrayed in the story, surrounded by his recurring archetypes: warm grandmothers and worldly kids; staunch, stoic mums; and silly, stunted men. “Every single character I’ve ever written has been based on someone I’ve known or met,” he says, “or a story I’ve stolen from someone.”
He grew to love drawing and painting, obsessed early on with reproducing the Sistine Chapel. During a 2011 TED Talk on creativity, Waititi describes his odd subject matter, from swastikas and fawns to a picture of an old lady going for a walk … upon a sword … with Robocop. “My father was an outsider artist, even though he wouldn’t know what that meant,” Waititi told the audience in Doha. “I love the naive. I love people who can see things through an innocent viewpoint. It’s inspiring.”

It was an interesting time in New Zealand, too – a coming-of-age decade in which the Maori were rediscovering their culture. His area was poor, “but only financially,” he says. “It’s very rich in terms of the people and the culture.” He learned kapa haka – the songs, dances and chants performed by competing tribes at cultural events, or to honour people at funerals and graduations – weddings, parties, anything. “Man, any excuse,” he explains. “A big part of doing them is to uplift your spirits.”
Photography was a passion, so I ask what he shot. “Just my penis. I sent them to people, but we didn’t have phones, so I would print them out, post them. One of the first dick pics,” he says. Actually, his lens was trained on regular people. He watches us still – in airports, restaurants. “Other times late at night, from a tree. Whatever it takes to get the story. You know that.”
He went to the Wellington state school Onslow College and did plays like Androcles and the Lion, A Midsummer Night’s Dream and The Crucible. His crew of arty students eventually ended up on stage at Bats Theatre in the city, where they would perform haphazard comedy shows for years.
“Taika was always rebellious and wild in his comedy, which I loved,” says his high school mate Jackie van Beek, who became a longtime collaborator, including working with Waititi on a Tourism New Zealand campaign this year. “I remember he went through a phase of turning up in bars around town wearing wigs, and you’d try and sit down and have a drink with him but he’d be doing some weird character that would invariably turn up in some show down the track.”
He met more like-minded peers at Victoria University, including Jemaine Clement (who’d later become co-creator of Flight of the Conchords). During a 2019 chat with actor Elijah Wood, Waititi describes he and Clement clocking one another from opposite sides of the library one day: a pair of Maoris experiencing hate at first sight, based on a mutual suspicion of cultural appropriation. (Clement was wearing a traditional tapa cloth Samoan shirt, and Waititi was like: “This motherf---er’s not Samoan.” Meanwhile, Waititi was wearing a Rastafarian beanie, and Clement was like, “This motherf---er’s not Jamaican.”)

But they eventually bonded over Blackadder and Fawlty Towers, and especially Kenny Everett, and did comedy shows together everywhere from Edinburgh to Melbourne. Waititi was almost itinerant, spending months at a time busking, or living in a commune in Berlin. He acted in a few small films, and then – while playing a stripper on a bad TV show – realised he wanted to try life behind the camera. “I became tired of being told what to do and ordered around,” he told Wellington’s Dominion Post in 2004. “I remember sitting around in the green room in my G-string thinking, ‘Why am I doing this? Just helping someone else to realise their dream.’ ”
He did two strong short films, then directed his first feature – Eagle vs Shark (2007) – when he was 32. He brought his mates along (Clement, starring with Waititi’s then-girlfriend Loren Horsley), setting something of a pattern in his career: hiring friends instead of constantly navigating new working relationships. “If you look at things I’m doing,” he tells me, “there’s always a few common denominators.”
Sam Neill says Waititi is the exemplar of a new New Zealand humour. “The basis of it is this: we’re just a little bit crap at things.”
This gang of collaborators shares a common Kiwi vibe, too, which his longtime friend, actor Rhys Darby, once coined “the comedy of the mundane”. Their new TV show, Our Flag Means Death, for example, leans heavily into the mundanity of pirate life – what happens on those long days at sea when the crew aren’t unsheathing swords from scabbards or burying treasure.
Tumblr media

Sam Neill, who first met Waititi when starring in Hunt for the Wilderpeople, says Waititi is the exemplar of a new New Zealand humour. “And I think the basis of it is this,” says Neill. “We’re just a little bit crap at things, and that in itself is funny.” After all, Neill asks, what is What We Do in The Shadows (2014) if not a film (then later a TV show) about a bunch of vampires who are pretty crap at being vampires, living in a pretty crappy house, not quite getting busted by crappy local cops? “New Zealand often gets named as the least corrupt country in the world, and I think it’s just that we would be pretty crap at being corrupt,” Neill says. “We don’t have the capacity for it.”
Waititi’s whimsy also spurns the dominant on-screen oeuvre of his homeland – the so-called “cinema of unease” exemplified by the brutality of Once Were Warriors (1994) and the emotional peril of The Piano (1993). Waititi still explores pathos and pain, but through laughter and weirdness. “Taika feels to me like an antidote to that dark aspect, and a gift somehow,” Neill says. “And I’m grateful for that.”
-----------------------------------------------
Something happened to Taika Waititi when he was about 11 – something he doesn’t go into with Good Weekend, but which he considered a betrayal by the adults in his life. He mentioned it only recently – not the moment itself, but the lesson he learnt: “That you cannot and must not rely on grown-ups to help you – you’re basically in the world alone, and you’re gonna die alone, and you’ve just gotta make it all for yourself,” he told Irish podcast host James Brown. “I basically never forgave people in positions of responsibility.”
What does that mean in his work? First, his finest films tend to reflect the clarity of mind possessed by children, and the unseen worlds they create – fantasies conjured up as a way to understand or overcome. (His mum once summed up the main message of Boy: “The unconditional love you get from your children, and how many of us waste that, and don’t know what we’ve got.”)
Second, he’s suited to movie-making – “Russian roulette with art” – because he’s drawn to disruptive force and chaos. And that in turn produces creative defiance: allowing him to reinvigorate the Marvel Universe by making superheroes fallible, or tell a Holocaust story by making fun of Hitler. “Whenever I have to deal with someone who’s a boss, or in charge, I challenge them,” he told Brown, “and I really do take whatever they say with a pinch of salt.”
It’s no surprise then that Waititi was comfortable leaping from independent films to the vast complexity of Hollywood blockbusters. He loves the challenge of coordinating a thousand interlocking parts, requiring an army of experts in vocations as diverse as construction, sound, art, performance and logistics. “I delegate a lot,” he says, “and share the load with a lot of people.”
“This is a cool concept, being able to afford whatever I want, as opposed to sleeping on couches until I was 35.” - Taika Waititi
But the buck stops with him. Time magazine named Waititi one of its Most Influential 100 People of 2022. “You can tell that a film was made by Taika Waititi the same way you can tell a piece was painted by Picasso,” wrote Sacha Baron Cohen. Compassionate but comic. Satirical but watchable. Rockstar but auteur. “Actually, sorry, but this guy’s really starting to piss me off,” Cohen concluded. “Can someone else write this piece?”
Tumblr media

I’m curious to know how he stays grounded amid such adulation. Coming into the game late, he says, helped immensely. After all, Waititi was 40 by the time he left New Zealand to do Thor: Ragnarok. “If you let things go to your head, then it means you’ve struggled to find out who you are,” he says. “But I’ve always felt very comfortable with who I am.” Hollywood access and acclaim – and the pay cheques – don’t erase memories of poverty, either. “It’s more like, ‘Oh, this is a cool concept, being able to afford whatever I want, as opposed to sleeping on couches until I was 35.’ ” Small towns and strong tribes keep him in check, too. “You know you can’t piss around and be a fool, because you’re going to embarrass your family,” he says. “Hasn’t stopped me, though.”
Sam Neill says there was never any doubt Waititi would be able to steer a major movie with energy and imagination. “It’s no accident that the whole world wants Taika,” he says. “But his seductiveness comes with its own dangers. You can spread yourself a bit thin. The temptation will be to do more, more, more. That’ll be interesting to watch.”
Indeed, I find myself vicariously stressed out over the list of potential projects in Waititi’s future. A Roald Dahl animated series for Netflix. An Apple TV show based on the 1981 film Time Bandits. A sequel to What We Do In The Shadows. A reboot of Flash Gordon. A gonzo horror comedy, The Auteur, starring Jude Law. Adapting a cult graphic novel, The Incal, as a feature. A streaming series based on the novel Interior Chinatown. A film based on a Kazuo Ishiguro bestseller. Plus bringing to life the wildly popular Akira comic books. Oh, and for good measure, a new instalment of Star Wars, which he’s already warned the world will be … different.
“It’s going to change things,” he told Good Morning America. “It’s going to change what you guys know and expect.”
Did I say I was stressed for Waititi? I meant physically sick.
“Well…” he qualifies, “some of those things I’m just producing, so I come up with an idea or someone comes to me with an idea, and I shape how ‘it’s this kind of show’ and ‘here’s how we can get it made.’ It’s easier for me to have a part in those things and feel like I’ve had a meaningful role in the creative process, but also not having to do what I’ve always done, which is trying to control everything.”

What about moving away from the niche New Zealand settings he represented so well in his early work? How does he stay connected to his roots? “I think you just need to know where you’re from,” he says, “and just don’t forget that.”
They certainly haven’t forgotten him.
Jasmin McSweeney sits in her office at the New Zealand Film Commission in Wellington, surrounded by promotional posters Waititi signed for her two decades ago, when she was tasked with promoting his nascent talent. Now the organisation’s marketing chief, she talks to me after visiting the heart of thriving “Wellywood”, overseeing the traditional karakia prayer on the set of a new movie starring Geoffrey Rush.
Waititi isn’t the first great Kiwi filmmaker – dual Oscar-winner Jane Campion and blockbuster king Peter Jackson come to mind – yet his particular ascendance, she says, has spurred unparalleled enthusiasm. “Taika gave everyone here confidence. He always says, ‘Don’t sit around waiting for people to say, you can do this.’ Just do it, because he just did it. That’s the Taika effect.”
-----------------------------------------------
Taika David Waititi is known for wearing everything from technicolour dreamcoats to pineapple print rompers, and today he’s wearing a roomy teal and white Isabel Marant jumper. The mohair garment has the same wispy frizz as his hair, which curls like a wave of grey steel wool, and connects with a shorn salty beard.
A stylish silver fox, it wouldn’t surprise anyone if he suddenly announced he was launching a fashion label. He’s definitely a commercial animal, to the point of directing television commercials for Coke and Amazon, along with a fabulous 2023 spot for Belvedere vodka starring Daniel Craig. He also joined forces with a beverage company in Finland (where “taika” means “magic”) to release his coffee drinks. Announcing the partnership on social media, he flagged that he would be doing more of this kind of stuff, too (“Soz not soz”).
Waititi has long been sick of reverent portrayals of Indigenous people talking to spirits.
There’s substance behind the swank. Fashion is a creative outlet but he’s also bought sewing machines in the past with the intention of designing and making clothes, and comes from a family of tailors. “I learnt how to sew a button on when I was very young,” he says. “I learnt how to fix holes or patches in your clothes, and darn things.”
And while he gallivants around the globe watching Wimbledon or modelling for Hermès at New York Fashion Week, all that glamour belies a depth of purpose, particularly when it comes to Indigenous representation.
There’s a moment in his new movie where a Samoan player realises that their Dutch coach, played by Michael Fassbender, is emotionally struggling, and he offers a lament for white people: “They need us.” I can’t help but think Waititi meant something more by that line – maybe that First Nations people have wisdom to offer if others will just listen?
“Weeelllll, a little bit …” he says – but from his intonation, and what he says next, I’m dead wrong. Waititi has long been sick of reverent portrayals of Indigenous people talking to kehua (spirits), or riding a ghost waka (phantom canoe), or playing a flute on a mountain. “Always the boring characters,” he says. “They’ve got no real contemporary relationship with the world, because they’re always living in the past in their spiritual ways.”
Tumblr media

He’s part of a vanguard consciously poking fun at those stereotypes. Another is the Navajo writer and director Billy Luther, who met Waititi at Sundance Film Festival back in 2003, along with Reservation Dogs co-creator Sterlin Harjo. “We were this group of outsiders trying to make films, when nobody was really biting,” says Luther. “It was a different time. The really cool thing about it now is we’re all working. We persevered. We didn’t give up. We slept on each other’s couches and hung out. It’s like family.”
Waititi has power now, and is known for using Indigenous interns wherever possible (“because there weren’t those opportunities when I was growing up”), making important introductions, offering feedback on scripts, and lending his name to projects through executive producer credits, too, which he did for Luther’s new feature film, Frybread Face and Me (2023).
He called Luther back from the set of Thor: Love and Thunder (2022) to offer advice on working with child actors – “Don’t box them into the characters you’ve created,” he said, “let them naturally figure it out on their own” – but it’s definitely harder to get Waititi on the phone these days. “He’s a little bitch,” Luther says, laughing. “Nah, there’s nothing like him. He’s a genius. You just knew he was going to be something. I just knew it. He’s my brother.“
I’ve been asked to explicitly avoid political questions in this interview, probably because Waititi tends to back so many causes, from child poverty and teenage suicide to a campaign protesting offshore gas and oil exploration near his tribal lands. But it’s hard to ignore his recent Instagram post, sharing a viral video about the Voice to Parliament referendum starring Indigenous Aussie rapper Adam Briggs. After all, we speak only two days after the proposal is defeated. “Yeah, sad to say but, Australia, you really shat the bed on that one,” Waititi says, pausing. “But go see my movie!”
About that movie – the early reviews aren’t great. IndieWire called it a misfire, too wrapped in its quirks to develop its arcs, with Waititi’s directorial voice drowning out his characters, while The Guardian called it “a shoddily made and strikingly unfunny attempt to tell an interesting story in an uninteresting way”. I want to know how he moves past that kind of criticism. “For a start, I never read reviews,” he says, concerned only with the opinion of people who paid for admission, never professional appraisals. “It’s not important to me. I know I’m good at what I do.”
Criticism that Indigenous concepts weren’t sufficiently explained in Next Goal Wins gets his back up a little, though. The film’s protagonist, Jaiyah Saelua, the first transgender football player in a FIFA World Cup qualifying match, is fa’afafine – an American Samoan identifier for someone with fluid genders – but there wasn’t much exposition of this concept in the film. “That’s not my job,” Waititi says. “It’s not a movie where I have to explain every facet of Samoan culture to an audience. Our job is to retain our culture, and present a story that’s inherently Polynesian, and if you don’t like it, you can go and watch any number of those other movies out there, 99 per cent of which are terrible.”
*notes: (there is video clip in the article)
Waititi sounds momentarily cranky, but he’s mostly unflappable and hilarious. He’s the kind of guy who prefers “Correctumundo bro!” to “Yes”. When our video connection is too laggy, he plays up to it by periodically pretending to be frozen, sitting perfectly still, mouth open, his big shifting eyeballs the only giveaway.
He’s at his best on set. Saelua sat next to him in Honolulu while filming the joyous soccer sequences. “He’s so chill. He just let the actors do their thing, giving them creative freedom, barely interjecting unless it was something important. His style matches the vibe of the Pacific people. We’re a very funny people. We like to laugh. He just fit perfectly.”
People do seem to love working alongside him, citing his ability to make productions fresh and unpredictable and funny. Chris Hemsworth once said that Waititi’s favourite gag is to “forget” that his microphone is switched on, so he can go on a pantomime rant for all to hear – usually about his disastrous Australian lead actor – only to “remember” that he’s wired and the whole crew is listening.
“I wouldn’t know about that, because I don’t listen to what other people say about anything – I’ve told you this,” Waititi says. “I just try to have fun when there’s time to have fun. And when you do that, and you bring people together, they’re more willing to go the extra mile for you, and they’re more willing to believe in the thing that you’re trying to do.”
Yes, he plays music between takes, and dances out of his director’s chair, but it’s really all about relaxing amid the immense pressure and intense privilege of making movies. “Do you know how hard it is just to get anything financed or green-lit, then getting a crew, getting producers to put all the pieces together, and then making it to set?” Waititi asks. “It’s a real gift, even to be working, and I feel like I have to remind people of that: enjoy this moment.”

you always experience something weird when the train is nearing cheongdam. it is as if your senses are being attacked in a sweep when goosebumps form in a wave before it calms down. then it starts again as the train approaches the outdoor part of its journey to cross the body of water. the lights inside start to flicker as you see outside to view the han river from under the bridge, yet sometimes, it's not a river, but a beach.
the sky is the clear turquoise blue that reflects the seawater. the view of the river bank turns into sand that's lining the barrier of land and sea. you could sometimes hear the sound of crashing waves from it even if you only see the setting sky as it changes from day to night. though now, that turquoise sky is getting darker and darker, even darker than the sunset you usually see when you cross on the hanging tracks from the cheongdam bridge to ttukseom park.
then you see it: the visions.
quick timelapse of the neon street, crumbling buildings crashing down as their support couldn't hold on, humanoid beings who can fly as they attacked something dark. only the color orange highlights everything before you see flickers of a woman with long platinum blonde locks and white dress, calling out your name as your eyes are trying to focus on her heterochromia ones.
you've always held onto the nearest surface as you glance at the dots turning red between cheongdam and ttukseom park stations, breathing in and out as you felt your palm getting sweatier when you felt the whole compartment seemed to shake more and more as you approached the bridge and let the light from outside coming in. recently, the shakiness is getting rougher and the vision more frequent. but, you've always try to comfort yourself and see the boy across from you if he is okay.
because it seems like you're not the only one to notice all the things you've experienced, especially when you see him mumbling whilst staring at the red dots lighting up on top of the door when the train approaches the bridge.

When would you say we hit peak woke?
I think 2020, which I will admit I think very strongly. The woke revolution to tease, or the social justice movement to be academic, was probably the most "online" movement in American history. Which I do not mean pejoratively, simply descriptive here, the history of the 2010's is very much the history of the ascendant internet. And 2020 was the year we just forced all of humanity to be online 24/7 with no recourse; we threw Americans to the fucking lions man. All these little gazelle up against seasoned internet warriors with a decade+ of practice honing their craft. And of course in a time that objectively felt apocalyptic to so many people. I think the George Floyd protests are absolutely the peak for the movement, the energy it brought in was unreal.
It, of course, as these things go, was also the end for it. All that energy was applied with all the undisciplined ferocity that its most extreme adherents were able to command, towards obviously unachievable goals - something they could not see being high on their own supply. They tried to grasp a star, overreached, and fell. And once the quarantine ended everyone (well, everyone liberal) was ready to move on. The Return to Normalcy was a go.
Which Imo does mask the actual achievements of the movement? I do personally think it was on net a misguided use of energy focused on symbolic targets, but it did hit some of those targets (when is the last time you even questioned a mainstream Hollywood movie or TV show having a diverse cast, for example?). But its big achievements it had locked in earlier in its run. Its a classic tale, you set out to achieve something, you pretty much achieve it actually, the only way you were ever going to at least, but what - are you going to disband? No, of course not, you double down, you go harder. So went the First Republic, so went the Woke Revolution.
The alt-right of course had its own similar journey at pretty much the same time, which culminated in 1/6. For, hm, reasons, it does not have the same ending.

TOP 10 TV SHOW FANDOMS ON AO3 BASED ON NUMBER OF FANWORKS (2009-2022)
To make these bar chart race, all series titles in the TV Show Category on November 29 (or the closest date to it) of every year were copy-pasted from Wayback Machine to Google Sheets, rearranged according to number of fanworks, and then inputted to Flourish to turn into a bar chart race.
Locked fanworks aren't included in the count because Wayback Machine can’t view those, only Ao3 users can.
Unspecified means that it doesn’t say in its title whether it is an “All Media Type” type tag or not. There’s a possibility that this tag only shows up in the TV Show category, or maybe in multiple categories, like in Movies and Comics too.
It doesn’t appear in the bar chart race, but for some reason Original Work was in the TV Show category in November 2021, and then removed by 2022.
The Avengers (Marvel) - All Media Types was actually in the top 10 from 2012-2014, and was removed from the TV show category from 2015 onwards so I’ve excluded it from the bar chart.
The Avengers - Ambiguous Fandom was also in the top 10 from 2012-2020, but then was reduced to 5% of its 2020 total fanworks in 2021 onwards because The Avengers (Marvel) - All Media Types and The Avengers (Marvel Movies) was removed from its subtag list. I’m excluding it from the bar chart since it means it shouldn’t have been in the top 10 in the first place.
Jossverse was in the top 10 from 2010-2014 (Top 2 in 2010 and 2011). In 2018, it was removed from the TV Show fandom list and works tagged with it show up in Buffy the Vampire Slayer (TV) instead so I’ve excluded it from the bar chart.
89% of the Sherlock Holmes & Related Fandoms fanworks in 2022 are tagged with Sherlock (TV).
Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is a subtag of Marvel and Marvel is a metatag for all Marvel works of various media, including comics and movies. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (TV) is the only TV show that appears in the top 10 fandoms listed in Marvel and MCU’s fandom filter in 2022, and it’s only 5% of the fanworks in the Marvel tag. Half of the Marvel tags’s top 10 fandom filter list are movies, and there are also 2 All Media Types tags.
As for DCU, 6 of the top 10 fandoms listed in DCU’s fandom filter in 2022 are specifically TV shows: 13% of its fanworks are from Supergirl (TV 2015), 9% are from The Flash (TV 2014),  8% are from Arrow (TV 2012), 5% are from DC's Legends of Tomorrow (TV), 4% are from Smallville and 4% are from Gotham (TV).
As for Batman - All Media Types, none of the top 10 fandoms listed in its fandom filter in 2022 are specifically TV shows: 5 of the fandoms listed were comics fandoms. 2 were all media types and 1 was the Nolan movies.
Maybe it would have been better to do a bar chart with fandoms that only appear in a single category (In this case, the TV Show category.). Some of the fandoms that ranked have popular other media outside of TV Shows that boosted their rankings. It would take more effort to filter out, but let me know if you’re interested in seeing a bar chart race like this. If there’s enough interest, I might get motivated enough to work on it, haha.
Thanks for understanding and hopefully I didn’t mess up anywhere! 🙏

tw: stalking, grooming, pedophilia, sexual abuse, past suicidal thoughts
I've recently been made aware that Dupsy is still talking about me and is now going to random Megamind fans that don't know me and telling them to avoid me. I'm also aware that they're doing this in the Ruby Gillman fandom. I have no words to really describe the level of discomfort this brings me, but I will attempt.
First of all, all the "grooming" allegations were thoroughly debunked and proven to be bullshit. I can't believe I have to even say this. I'm a victim of grooming and sexual abuse myself. It's extremely traumatic and life-altering shit, and never something I would want to inflict on someone else. I feel like it should be obvious, with the measures I took in the server to ensure no child is exposed to such things. I was recently diagnosed with PTSD due to the shit that happened to me when I was growing up, and between processing that in therapy sessions and stomaching transitioning in a near-constant hostile-to-trans-people online social media hellscape, I am tired.
I love Megamind, more than anything, and this is known and obvious to anyone who's met me. This movie saved my life when I was extremely suicidal and planning to end my life back in 2010. Watching the movie when I did gave me something to focus on, a distraction, and a responsibility as a fandom member that helped distract me long enough to get out of the planning mindset I was in. Had I not seen the movie, I do not think I would have stuck around. I will leave it at that.
And moderating fandom spaces for Megamind has been lovely! I adore this fandom. The people in it are extremely talented and sweet, and just so damn nice, like by default. I say this all the time but I've never experienced another fandom space quite like it. There are usually bad eggs in fandoms, and perhaps -I- am said "bad egg" to some, but genuinely this one is special. I have always felt that way, even when the bad eggs show up and make a stink. It has always felt worth being here for, to me.
And while I hate to give Dupsy the satisfaction of knowing they hurt me, I need to be honest-- it's been rough. I stopped talking in my server, I locked up on most of my friends and stopped talking even in DMs. I still struggle with severe anxiety in the server and have talked to Dal on various occasions about transferring the server ownership to him. He's been very patient with my freakouts and super understanding, but it's still hard. This WAS a place I felt safe, for over ten years! And now it feels like any minor can just say I'm a groomer or a pedo or whatever with ZERO consequences, just because they're mad, just because these are words that make people go "oh shit" and listen, and man! It's not ok! And this coupled with the fact that trans people are often called groomers just for existing, just… man! I'm tired. I'm so tired.
There are real, severe, damaging effects to these claims being thrown around so casually. It's hurtful to me, as a victim of sexual abuse, because when I came forward to people about what happened when -I- was a minor, I was told I "wanted it" and "asked for it". It was made to be my fault that I was abused, and I internalized it for years. It nearly killed me. I cannot stress enough how important it is to not use claims like pedophilia and grooming so lightly-- these are VERY damning terms to use on people and should be reserved for people ACTUALLY HARMING OTHERS. Being mad I banned you from the server is not "abuse" and using my Customer Service Voice to be nice to you and then being obviously tired of you when you were banned is not "emotional grooming". What the actual fuck. ALSO. This was well over a year ago! Why am I still having to post about this? Why are you still TALKING about me? And yet again I ask, where the HELL are your parents?
Anyway, if you've been wondering why I've been so quiet these days and struggling to socialize… honestly? It's this. I hate that this is what did it. I know people trust and believe me, I know the fandom backs me up regularly and I appreciate them all so much for it. I see it, but I never know how to respond. You guys continue to make this fandom feel safe for me even when my entire brain is screaming to run, and I appreciate you so much for it.
Kids deserve to be trusted when they tell people they've been hurt and I hate that the recent proshipping discourse or whatever you want to call it, this culty all-or-nothing shit, has a bunch of minors growing up feeling like EVERYTHING is something to call rapey or predatory, with apparently little room to distinguish when REAL abuse is happening to them. I don't blame anyone for believing Dupsy, and it's honestly better they DO believe all unproven claims of abuse by default, just to stay safe-- but man, it has consequences that follow people, and really should not be a thing to just throw around because you're mad at someone. I just can't believe they're STILL going around and reaching out to strangers telling them to avoid me… like, what the fuck.
I will be ok, I always am eventually, but I needed to say something, because it's honestly been a while since I've said much of anything.
Keep being kind. <3

December 20, 2010
Natasha "Phoenix" Trace hated the holidays. Why? Because she doesn't have anybody to share them with. All of her friends weren't anywhere near her and she hadn't been stationed long at Lemoore, CA to make any new real friends, she knew Jake "Hangman" Seresin but they were nowhere near friends besides he was going home for the holidays. She didn't have any contact with her family due to a falling out. She had concluded that just sitting on her couch with a bunch of junk food and watching cheesy Hallmark, which always has the same plot and some of the same actors, would be just fine with her. It was just 4 days until Christmas and she had planned on having Christmas dinner at the base and then coming home and watching a movie and calling it good. She was just about to turn on a movie when her phone lit up beside her. She looked at it and saw the incoming call from Bradley "Rooster" Bradshaw, she smiled. They had met in flight school and formed a very tight bond, she was there when he got engaged to his high school sweetheart Leah Sams, and at their wedding where Natasha was her bridesmaid, just 6 months later.
"Hey, Roos. What's up?" She asked as she answered the phone.
"Hey! You're on speaker." He said
"Hey, Nix!" Leah shouted out and smiled.
"Hey, Leah." She replied back.
"What are you doing for Christmas?" Bradley asked and she sighed.
"Had nothing planned, really. Probably just get dinner down on base and then come back and watch a movie." She said
"Not one of those cheesy, always the same plot, and same actors and actress Hallmark movie." Bradley said and in disgust and then she heard a faint 'Ow' from him meaning that Leah had probably hit him.
"Yes one of those." Natasha said
"Well, cancel those plans. Pack a bag. You're coming here." He said
"Bradley." She started
"No, he's serious. We talked about it and would love to have you around. Please." Leah pleaded and Natasha sighed.
"Fine. Since you said please." She said with a playful eye roll and a smirk.
"Perfect! We'll see you when you get here." Bradley said
"I'll let one of you know when I leave." She said with a chuckle.
"Good! See you soon!" Leah said and then they hung up. She sighed, now she already had a present for them both she was just planning on sending them by mail but this worked out better.
She sat on the couch for a few more minutes and looked at her phone it was only 12 PM on December 20th and if she left at 2 PM she could be in Oceana, VA at 7 AM on December 22nd. She nodded to herself liking those odds. She got up and packed quickly and looked at her watch is was nearing 1:30 PM. She grabbed her bags and the presents and made sure that everything was locked and squared away and now she was heading to her car ready to make the drive. She had been on a week leave due to having just gotten back from a deployment so it worked out perfectly.
——————————————————————
December 22, 2010
The trip to Oceana, VA was really uneventful. Natasha did have to stop for the night, she thought about pushing through but decided against it. Now it was December 22nd there was hardly any traffic which she was grateful for. As she promised she let Bradley and Leah know when she was leaving, stopping, and going again. She was 10 minutes out when she decided to give them a call. She decided to call Leah, it rang once before she answered. Both Bradley and Leah were early risers but could easily sleep in if they wanted to.
"Hey, Nix!" Leah said and that made Natasha smile.
"Hey, Leah. I'm 10 minutes out." She told her.
"That's great! We can't wait until you get here! It's going to be so fun." Leah said and then she heard two male voices, one she recognized as Bradley and the second one that she wasn't familiar with and that sounded exactly like Bradley's.
"Hey, Leah. Who else is there?" Natasha asked as she stopped at a stoplight.
"Oh! Just Bradley's brother and my brother-in-law." Leah said like it was nothing and to her it was but not to Natasha.
"Bradley has a brother?" She asked and Leah chuckled.
"He sure does. You'll get to meet him while you're here. Now be safe and hurry up." Leah said and Natasha chuckled and then said goodbye to each other.
10 minutes later she was pulling into their driveway where she noticed both Leah's black Ford Explorer and Bradley's precious Bronco but there was a car she didn't recognize it was a deep olive green Chevy Colorado. It was sleek and looked like it was just washed. She parked next to it and got out while grabbing the presents not wanting them to sit out in the car for too long.
Natasha walked up to the door and rang the doorbell "I got it." She heard a male voice say and she didn't have to wait long until the door opened, she was expecting Bradley or Leah, not this handsome, 6'2", dirty blonde-haired man with true blue eyes with flecks of brown near his pupils. Her breath literally got caught in her throat and that never happened to her. They stared at each other him smiling and her just speechless.
"Benji! Let her in!" Bradley said pushing the other male out of the way, if anyone else had called him that he would've gotten on them but his brother was allowed to and Leah as well but she mostly calls him Ben. "I'm so glad you made it!" He said and hugged her and she smiled. She stepped into the beautifully decorated house.
"Well I wasn't going to say no to an open invitation." She said and then handed the presents to him "These are for you and Leah for Christmas." She said and that is when Leah came out.
"Ben, you're drooling." She said and shoved him and he smirked.
"How can I not? Especially with a beautiful woman in my presence." He said and that made Natasha blush and Bradley roll his eyes as he sent a wink towards her. Benjamin Bradshaw was their dad made over, besides his mustache, and was not afraid to speak his mind.
"Natasha this is my older brother by 2 years, Benjamin Bradshaw. Ben this is Natasha Trace my friend from flight school. Breakfast is almost ready. Come on." Bradley said and ushered them to the kitchen.
"Nice to meet you, Natasha. Such a beautiful name for such a beautiful woman. " Ben said to her with a smirk.
"Nice to meet you too, Ben." She said finally finding her voice again.
——————————————————————
December 23, 2010
As everyone sat down for breakfast the talking began. "So, Natasha. Bradley has told me a lot about you especially when he said you were coming down." Ben said as he took a bite of a pancake Natasha was surprised.
"All good things I hope." She said still amazed how quickly she was falling in love with this man.
"I wouldn't tell him anything bad about you." Bradley said and Leah nodded.
"He told me that you're an aviator and stationed at Lemmore." Ben said and Natasha nodded.
"That's right. I don't know a lot of people there. It's nice though." She said as she took a drink of her coffee. "I didn't know Bradley had an older brother." She said when she put her cup down and Ben looked at Bradley.
"Rude." He said but there was no malice behind it. "Well, I'm 2 years older than him. I'm an aviator as well and stationed here at Naval Air Station Oceana." He said and then took another bite of his food.
"How is it working with your older brother?" She asked Bradley and he rolled his eyes and Leah smirked.
"Terrible. He likes to remind me every second that he outranks me and I'm older than him, even though we aren't in the same squad." Bradley said and then took a bite of his food as Ben smirked.
"Oh stop your whining. Just admit it's great. At least I don't fly with you." Ben said and Bradley nodded in agreement. "Matter in fact we have an air show that is going to be happing on Christmas Eve at 5 PM and I hope you all will be able to make it." Ben said.
"Don't worry we'll be there so you can show off." Bradley said and Ben leaned over and slightly nudged him in a brotherly fashion. The rest of breakfast went without a hitch and before they knew it they were cleaning up and going to sit in the living room where the Christmas tree was lit and decorated with presents underneath. "We have a lunch planned at one of our favorite places on the pier and tonight we're just going to hang out." Bradley added and everyone nodded.
Most of the morning was spent talking about random things and getting to know one another, more so of Natasha and Ben, that 12 PM snuck up on them out of nowhere and they were loading up in the Bronco and heading to the pier. They arrived quickly and found a good parking spot and they headed inside "How many?" The hostess asked.
"4 and can we have a table outside." Ben asked and the hostess nodded and Natasha swore she fell deeper in love each time Ben talked.
"Right this way." The hostess said and they followed her and she sat them. "Someone will be with you shortly." She said and walked away after they sat down but Ben held the chair out for Natasha and when she sat down he pushed her in and sat next to her.
"So, what is good here?" Natasha asked and Ben smiled.
"Their steak is to die for and so is their fried chicken." He said and she nodded the waitress came by and took their drink orders and then left again and soon came back with their drinks. They were ready to order and did so Natasha went with what Ben got trusting his judgment. Lunch went great and it was fun learning more about Ben. When lunch was done Bradley and Ben fought over who was paying and in the end Ben won and he smiled triumphally. They all headed back to Bradley and Leah's house.
The afternoon blended into the evening and everyone was few drinks in. "Ben you staying?" Bradley asked as the night was coming to and end, supper was just snacking since they had a big lunch.
"Yea, I've been drinking. No way am I going to drive back home." Ben said and Natasha looked him in awe.
"Alright. Well, Leah and I are heading to bed you both can do whatever you want but please don't doing here we have to eat and live here." Bradley said and Leah smacked him, Ben rolled his eyes and flipped him off and Natasha blushed.
"Goodnight guys." Leah said and begun to drag her husband away.
"Goodnight." Ben and Natasha said in unison. Once they knew they were out of sight and out of earshot they began talking.
"Do you want kids?" Natasha asked once they got into a knowing each other.
"Absolutely." Ben said almost instantly and that made her smile. "I want at least one and I have more than one I would love them all equally. You?" He asked.
"Yes, especially with the right one. What gender?" She asked and he had to think about it.
"Honestly either boy or girl again I would love them equally depending on their gender. But truthfully, I really want a girl." He said and she nodded. "What about you?" He asked looking at her lovingly. "Want another drink?" He asked.
"I'm pretty much the same way. Yes, I would love another drink." She said looking at him and they stared at each other for a few minutes and then they got up and headed into the kitchen reluctantly breaking eye contact. When they got to the kitchen he walked to the fridge and got out two beers and then joined Natasha who had been standing under the doorway. Ben jus happened to look up and found mistletoe hanging there and he chuckled. "What's so funny?" She asked smiling because his laugh was music to her ears.
"Look up." He said and she did and chuckled and then looked back at him. They then found themselves leaning in and then closing their eyes and then their lips met, sparks flew for both of them when they touched lips. He had sat his drink down and blindly on the counter and came to cup her face, she sat her drink down beside his and put her arms around his neck. They continued to kiss until air was needed and they pulled away. Their lips were swollen and they were flushed. "That was-" She began.
"Prefect." Ben added and she nodded. After a few hours and snuggling and stealing more kisses and finishing their drinks they had decided to go to bed.
——————————————————————
December 24, 2010
The smell of breakfast cooking is what woke Leah and Bradley up. They groggily rolled out of bed and headed to the kitchen and as they got closer to the kitchen they heard laughter and two voices that were all to familiar. They quietly walked down the stairs and stood by them having a clear view of the kitchen and watched the scene before them. Ben and Natasha were standing side by side practically leaning into each other, he was at the stove and she was by him making the pancake batter and other food. Occasionally they would bump into each other and chuckle. Bradley took a quick glance at his wife who was smiling at the happy couple. "How long until you think they get together?" She asked quietly.
"Next month. They're already so head over hills for each other. I bet they kissed last night." He said and Leah shook her head.
"No, way." She said and Bradley smirked.
"Yes, way." He said and Leah shook her head.
"Ready to head in?" She asked and he nodded and they walked into the kitchen. "Good morning you two." She made their appearance known. Nat and Ben turned around and smiled.
"Good morning." Ben said and then turned around and finished putting the last of the pancakes on the plate and turning the stove off.
"Sleep well?" Bradley asked
"Yes." Ben and Natasha answered together which just made Bradley smirk. Ben grabbed the plate of pancakes and bacon, walked over to the table and set it in the center. Everyone grabbed their drinks and they began to eat.
"Remember the airshow is at 5 tonight. I'm gonna have to head out soon to go home get changed then head to base and get ready for it." Ben said and Natasha pulled a face that told them she was clearly upset about that but Ben didn't see it but Bradley and Leah did and they smirked and nudged each other. Breakfast was eaten with chatter and then Ben was getting ready to leave. Bradley and Leah had gone off somewhere leaving Ben and Natasha alone.
"Can't you stay just a little bit longer?" She asked and Ben smirked.
"I wish but we have to get some things ready and make sure everything is in tip-top shape for tonight. We also have to get a round of practice in." He said and she nodded in understanding. "What are your plans for New Year's?" He asked and she had to stop and think.
"Well, I was planning on leaving on the 27th and spending it alone." She said and Ben pulled a face as if saying he didn't like that.
"Why don't you just stay?" He asked and she shook her head.
"I would feel like I'm overstepping my welcome." She said looking into his blue eyes.
"Well, you could always stay with me." He said
"I don't want to intrude on you." She said unsure what to truly say because she was speechless but secretly loved it.
"Nonsense, I have two guest rooms. You wouldn't be intruding. Besides you have a few more days of leave and driving now during the holidays would be absolutely murder." He said and she nodded.
"Ok." She said and he leaned in and kissed her. What they didn't know was Bradley and Leah were watching with a smirk on their faces.
This was their plan all along of course having Natasha over was always going to be the plan because they hated the thought of someone being alone and Ben would've been over anyway. They both had been complaining about being alone for the rest of their lives and Bradley and Leah knew they would be perfect for each other so they set the plan in motion. What they didn't know was that it would've taken off so well and quickly but were absolutely glad about it.
The afternoon was spent just staying and enjoying each other's company in the house while Ben was gone. Natasha caught up with both of her best friends and overall just had a good time. Before they knew it 4:30 PM rolled around and they headed to the base. Now you may think it's silly for two Naval aviators to go see an air show but it was to support the oldest Bradshaw. Base was only 20 minutes away from each house so it was perfect. They got into the base with ease and found a spot. It was almost like a tailgate party, some people chose to sit or stand. Bradley turned his Bronco around so he could open the tailgate and they could sit on it or lay down on it. 5 PM exactly the announcer started speaking.
“Good evening, ladies and gentlemen! Welcome to the 6th annual Oceana Air Show! We have some exciting things for you to see! You'll be able to see all jets and planes up close and meet the pilots. Thank you for coming and let's begin!”
The crowd roared with excitement. Upbeat music started playing but no jets or planes had taken off. Most were sitting in front of the crowd so they could see them up close and personal. As they got to looking around at all the jets the name on the side of the one in front of them stuck out to them it had Cpt. Benjamin Bradshaw and then “Eagle” was written underneath. How did they get so lucky and be in front of his jet?
“In front of you are the jets that are gonna be flying today. In a few minutes we will have the pilots and WSOs come out so we can get this show up in the air. If we have time we'll have a simulation of a base attack. We will also have the pleasure of hearing what some of the pilots are saying while up in the air.” The announcer said.
“So tell me more about your brother.” Natasha said as she turned to Bradley as he looked at her.
“He practically raised me after our dad died. He grew up way faster than he should've, even though he hides it well with his goofiness which he got from dad. He was the one I turned to when things got rough when mom died.” Bradley said
“He sounds like a really good guy.” Nat said and Bradley nodded.
“He’s the best.” Leah added “The first time I met him he was a total gentleman even though he did try to flirt with me but Bradley warned me about that. He cares for the ones he loves and won’t take shit from anyone.” She said and everything they were saying was just making her fall in love with him more.
“He has chewed out many people because they either caused harm to us or to anyone that he cares about. He even chewed Maverick out when he tried to pull his application out and it was bad they’re relationship was and still is strained because of it.” Bradley said and Nat was shocked. He was going to tell Nat about Maverick pulling his papers but decided against it. When Ben found out Maverick pulled his papers he was about to call him and chew him out but Bradley stopped him.
“Did he end up going to the academy?” Shs asked and Bradley nodded.
“Yea after Maverick got chewed in front of Ice might I add. He withdrew the request to pull the papers.” Bradley said
“We talked about kids last night. He sounds like he would be a good dad.” Nat said, turning to look at his jet.
“He’s the best with kids. Always doing things for them and playing with them, I think it's because he’s a kid at heart.” Bradley said and that made Nat smile.
“Alright ladies and gentlemen! We are ready to start! I’m Lt. Justin Summers and will be telling you everything that is happening in this airshow. I’m excited for everyone to be here. We will be showing you a bunch of different jets, planes, and have a base attack simulation. We will be able to hear inside of the cockpits of some of our aviators.” Lt. Summers said and then a bunch of planes and jets were taking off and doing stunts but Leah, Bradley, and Nat had seen them before. They just wanted to see Ben fly and show off. “Alright ladies and gentlemen we have some time to do a simulation of a base attack, so at this time I want to warn you that there will be loud popping sounds and gunfire.” Lt. Summers said.
As he was talking the pilots had started to come out all in a line and they immediately picked out Ben because he was just like Goose. Each of them went to their jet and saluted their ground crew. Everyone saluted each other and the pilots and WSOs were getting into the jets. The pilots turned on the jets and it was a beautiful start up. Before everyone knew they were taxing and up in the air and flying.
The announcer began to talk as the siren came on and the base attack simulation began. It started with a jet releasing fake bombs making smoke. More smoke was seen from the ‘enemy’ fighters. “As the enemy takes fire on the base. Air support is called for the F-18 to come to assist.” There was the sound of 2 F-18s taking off and up into the air going after the ‘enemy’ “The friendly F-18s are flown by Captain Benjamin ‘Eagle’ Bradshaw and Lt. Luke ‘New York’ Townsend,” The announcer said and Bradley, Leah, and Nat smiled at hearing Ben’s name. “We will be able to hear inside of these two cockpits.” Lt. Summers said the base attack simulation went on and Ben had done several low flybys, especially where his brother, sister-in-law, and his future girlfriend. “Watch them go after the enemy fighter and engage in a dogfight.” Lt. Summers said
“Alright Eagle. Let’s go.” Luke said
“Let’s turn and burn.” Ben said and they were off and going after the ‘enemy’.
“On your six.” Luke said after a few moments and Ben did a move that impressed them and got behind them and toned them. The enemy flew off.
“One down, one to go. We got this.” Ben said and then they were tag teaming to take down the other jet and they did.
Their part was done and then the rest of it lasted a few more hours until Lt. Summers announced the end of the simulation and the end of the air show. Now they were allowed to go and meet the pilots after the jets had all landed.
They walked over to Ben and watched him while he talked with people and let some kids go and look up at the jet up and personal. He smiled when he saw them. "Hope you liked the show." Ben said and as he finished hugging them.
"We did." Leah said and Nat was just looking at him in his flight suit and falling deeper in love with him. They all talked until he had to tend to the other people and he said that they would met back at Bradley and Leah's house.
After a few hours Ben was pulling into the driveway and walking up to the house and walking in. "Honey, I'm home." He said.
"In the living room, my dear." Bradley responded and they both laughed. He walked in and saw that drinks were already served and food was on the table. Ben grabbed the beer that Bradley had held out to him. The rest of the evening was spent talking, eating and drinking. Once it reached 11 PM they went to bed but Ben stayed up and walked outside as Bradley and Leah retired to their room. Nat was about to go when he saw him outside and joined him.
"You were amazing." She said and he turned to look at her and smiled as he slung an arm around her shoulders and pulled her into him further.
"Why thank you. I love it." He said and she chuckled.
"I do too." She said and they stood there for a few minutes looking into each other eyes and slowly leaned and kissed. They pulled away when air was needed and then they just stood there for awhile until they ended up going back inside and up the stairs they ended up cuddling in bed until the next morning.

December 25, 2010
Morning came early and Natasha was waking up with a weight around her and she was confused until she turned and saw that it was Ben. He was sound to sleep and peaceful. He must've sensed her looking at him "Staring is rude." He said and opened his eyes reveling the blue she loved oh so much. "Come on. Better get up. We got presents to open." He said and she chuckled. They got up and walked downstairs to see Leah and Bradley already in the living room waiting.
"Good morning, lovebirds." Bradley said and Ben grabbed a pillow and threw it at his head which he ducked and it flew past him. Everyone chuckled.
"Sleep well?" Leah asked and they nodded. "Good now let's open presents." She said and Ben and Nat sat down by each other and the present opening begun. It took a few hours but all the presents were opened and it was now lunch.
"So, Nat you staying for New Years?" Bradley asked and she nodded.
"Ben is letting me stay at his place until then." She said and they smirked.
"Oh really now?" Bradley asked and Ben reached over and punched him in the arm.
"Yes really." Ben said as he took a bite of his sandwich that they had all agreed on for lunch.
"When are you going over there?" Leah asked loving how this was turning out.
"Once you get tired of us and kick us out." Ben joked and they rolled their eyes as Nat chuckled.
"We can never get tired of you both." Bradley said
"We'll leave here around 6 PM." Ben said and they nodded "Until then, you're stuck with us." He said and everyone laughed.
The rest of the afternoon and the evening was spent together and watching TV and trying out their gifts. Nat sat back thinking that she could get used to this and she really could. While the boys were out in the backyard paying with their gadgets the girls were left in the house. "So?" Leah started.
"So?" Nat asked looking at her.
"You and Ben." She said smirking with a knowing smirk.
"I think I'm in love." Nat said
"I knew it. He loves you too. I can tell." Leah said as they turned their attention back to the boys when a crash was heard. They watched the boys look at the two remote control jets on the ground with their hands on their hips. "Are we sure their pilots? They can't even fly remote control jets." Leah said and they both laughed, she shook her head and walked out.
"Boys, what did you do? Some pilots you are." She asked and then they started going on about what happened at the same time and it was hilarious. Nat shook her head.
"Yea, I'm in love." She said to herself and walked out to see if she could assist with anything.

Push Me Away, Beg You to Stay
(Blurb Version)
Read the original here!
Warnings: takes place in high school, angst, vague references to Insidious (2010). 0.5k+ words.
A/N: I wrote this 6-7 months ago and just found it in my drafts. It’s probably not very good but why not post it I guess?
Tumblr media
You haven’t seen Dalton in several days, and during your recent conversations, he seemed distant. The last few times you’ve seen him, it has felt like you’re invisible, with his attention glued to his phone or the new people surrounding him. You hope the last few days are because of a weird mood, or he was tired, so you plan to keep your weekly study/movie date. While you walk to his front door, your smile grows as you get excited to see your best friend after a lonely week. After you finish studying, you look forward to curling up on Dalton’s bed and critiquing every aspect of the movie Dalton is sure you will love. Usually, Dalton opens the door as you approach it; today, you knock and wait several moments before the lock clicks.
“Does Dalton know you’re coming?” Renai asks as she opens the door.
“Yeah, we’re supposed to study. Why? Is he busy?”
Renai presses her lips into a line and shakes her head before letting you in. You thank her and walk to Dalton’s room, but you hesitate, then knock on the closed door.
“Who is it?” he asks.
“Me.”
Dalton opens the door with his phone in his hand by his side. It buzzes several times as he looks at you.
“What are you doing here?”
“You invited me. You said we could study and then watch that new movie you were telling me about,” you answer while trying to prevent your smile from dropping.
“I’m busy. Maybe another time.”
Dalton begins to close the door, and you raise your hand to stop him.
“Did I do something wrong?”
Dalton rolls his eyes. “No.”
“I’m having trouble believing you when you answer like that.”
“You’re just always there.”
“Always where?”
“Every time I turn around or try to talk to someone, do something, you’re right beside me.”
“Because we’re friends?”
“Maybe it’s time we find new friends,” he answers, though there is no emotion in his words.
You stay silent as he looks at his phone and nods to himself.
“Seems like you already did,” you point out quietly.
“And this- this clinginess? It’s not cute, it’s getting really annoying. I need time every once in a while.”
“And now you want all the time. Without me.”
Dalton nods, a barely visible movement. You play with the charm bracelet on your wrist, your eyes catching the matching charm on his necklace.
“Tell me how to fix it,” you whisper.
“Just go,” Dalton demands.
“Please don’t do this,” you beg. Tears gather in your eyes and Dalton doesn’t seem to care.
“Do what?” Dalton asks.
“Don’t push me away, make me say goodbye. I can’t lose you. It was hard enough waiting for you to wake up when you were in the coma, and now you expect me to just let you walk away?”
“Yes! People grow apart. People change.”
“They certainly do.”
You walk out, letting the door slam behind you as your tears fall. Dalton watches the door close and catches a glimpse of another door, and a jolt of fear courses through him at the thought of you on the other side.

Amazing, Showstopping, Glamorous Blue Lock Headcanons That Are Definitely True Ego Told Me So #1
Inspired by a friend and I yelling about Blue Lock lately. Some of these are yours, friend. Thank you for contributing to my madness :D
Don't now if I'm gonna make a part 2 but eh? We'll see where my next fever dream takes me.
Isagi un-ironically Naruto-ran throughout middle school. He thought it made him look cool and increased his speed. One day he was full blown running across the soccer field and took a heavy nose dive- breaking it. He stopped doing it after that.
Raichi's playlist is entirely made up of early 2000's/2010's pop hits. I'm talking Britney Spears, Destiny's Child, Ariana Grande, and his queen herself- Lady Gaga. Knows all the songs and dances and performs them at 2 am in the Blue Lock cafeteria when he thinks no one's up. Has been walked in on multiple times.
Chigiri has a very specific set of bookish characters that if their name is even referenced he will throw hands. You wanna see this soft spoken shy princess swear up a storm? Drop a name. "Hey Chigiri, who's Gale Hawthorne-" "Don't you ever speak that bastard's name in my presence again."
Kunigami loves All Might from My Hero Academia. He's not at the collector level Deku is in the show but he'll quote the Number 1 Hero ("Former-" "We don't talk about the other guy, Isagi. There's only All Might"). Only Isagi knows what he's saying; everyone else has heard "Plus Ultra" but doesn't really get it.
Bachira is a fantastic artist. He gets it from his momma and it shows! He likes to draw the monster a lot, but he has drawn everyone in the room at least once. Whenever he draws his friends, they'll have little decorations associated with them. (Kuni's got a cape, Chigiri's got a tiny crown, Isagi has his own monster.)
Nagi can do the worm. He does mainly when he's already on the floor and is too lazy to stand, so he just kinda wiggles over to wherever he needs to go. No one knows where he learned it but it's absolutely hilarious to watch.
Sae speaks fluid Spanish from his time in Spain. This comes very apparent after Shidou pissed him off so badly he chewed him out in it. The mentioned man finds it really sexy, even if Sae's calling him a "Colossal hemorrhoid I have the displeasure of having stuck up my ass."
Despite his love for Horror games/movies, Rin is beyond easy to jump scare. His argument is that in those settings he's prepared to get spooked. Bachira can be as silent as the wind when he wants to be, so accidental (and a lot of times intentional) spooks are common between them. ".......Hi Rin!" "FU-!"
Chigiri is a great singer but horrifically shy about it. He sings in the shower when he's sure no one is around. Most of the tunes he sings are ones his sister introduced him to- things like "Uptown Girl" and "Tiny Dancer"; but he knows a handful of newer ones. One time Bachira walked in on him. The dribbler told everyone he knew about it but Chigiri flat out refuses to sing in front of anyone so it's more a rumor.
Reo on the flip side is a horrible singer and refuses to believe anything otherwise. In his head, he is a god of vocals. In reality, he sounds like Toad from Super Mario getting tased in the balls. Nagi has learned the art of tuning him out, so he's no help in disproving Reo's false beliefs.
Gagamaru has been the resident bug catcher since the Blue Lock Spider Incident of 2018. He's the only one brave enough to gather them up in his hands and put them outside.
