Lockwood & Co. Appreciation Week
March 24th, Day 1
Favourite Character from the Main Trio:
No surprise here, it’s George Karim! I could go on a whole rant about how much I adore George and his characterisation but for now all I’ll say is George Karim makes me feel seen.
Not sure if I’ll be able to do anymore prompts for the week due to me being away and ill but I’ll try my best!

Quill Kipps is by far my favorite side character. Like. This man had one of the best character development arcs I've ever seen, and. None. Of. Us. Noticed. Until we were cheering for him along with everyone else. I don't even know if he noticed.
Anyways. Quill Kipps.

just started rewatching lockwood and co for the fourth time and all i feel is overwhelming sadness over its cancellation AND overwhelming, extremely strong love for the characters, the cast, the world building of lockwood and co, and just how intensely i wish i was apart of their universe instead of this one (me and escapism are like this 🤞). and on another note i haven’t yearned intensely to live in the same universe as my favorite fictional characters since percy jackson and i’ve been a fan since of that since third grade i believe. and i’m 19 now. so. yeah. i think this world kinda might stick with me for a good long while now.!

Snapdragons - Lucy
Another little happy story in Lockwood and Co universe inspired by Flowers (this one was given by OceanSpray5) that I hope you enjoy.
***
"Lucy"
She stared at the white snapdragon that was now blooming in the garden of Portland Row. The flower had appeared suddenly, as if overnight, a white speck on a green ground, and made her mind drift to another place, another moment, where ghosts didn't exist. She took a deep breath.
"Lucy? We have tea."
Lucy looked to the side. There was George, his eyebrows raised under his glasses. Hands in his pockets.Lucy shook her head to jolt herself back to reality.
"Where's Lockwood?"
"He's in the kitchen waiting?" George stared at her. "Why are you asking about Lockwood. You've just seen him."
Lucy stared at the flower again. Wouldn't it be nice to just lie in a field under the sun. Far away from always having to find a solution to a problem no one knew the origin of.
"Maybe you want to get the flower for him?"
"What?" George was being sarcastic, sure, but without meaning to, she felt a sudden warmth in her cheeks. She looked away from the flower.
"Why would I?"
George sighed, "You tell me."
But Lucy refused to answer. After a while George just shrugged and left. "See you, then"
Lucy followed his steps. Yes, why should she? There was no reason. She turned her eyes to the bright white flower and the grace with which it chased the light and stared into the sun. It certainly reminded her of him. But in the same way, this flower echoed her own inner struggle, sometimes to bloom and sometimes to hide among the grasses. She felt understood. By a flower? Lucy shook her head, amused at herself.
Certainly not. Then she turned to get some tea in the kitchen, where Lockwood was laughing, his shadow lit by golden light.

Lockwood: Nothing good comes from letting people in.
Also Lockwood: *gives Lucy his childhood room* *tells Lucy he wants her to be a part of his dreams for the agency like 4 hours after meeting her* *fights for her to have a place in the agency* *intentionally tries to share the spotlight with her (unfortunately against her wishes)* *gives Lucy a necklace that clearly means a lot to him* *brags to everyone who will listen about how amazing she is* *prepares and gives her toast unprompted* *looks at her like he never wants to look at anything BUT her* *checks in with her to make sure she's okay in the middle of cases and suggests they step back if she needs a minute* *holds Lucy's hand* *holds Lucy's hand* *holds Lucy's hand* *holds Lucy's hand* *hol-

[id from alt text: a semi-realistic digital drawing of Lucy Carlyle (Lockwood & Co tv series). she's wearing a sweater, her head is thrown back, eyes are closed and her expression is calm. floating right above her is the skull, surrounded by yellow-greenish smoke-like ectoplasm. it emits soft light that is more intense around the skull and it falls down on Lucy's face. everything is done in greenish-yellow palette and blue in darker areas. background is black, as well as everything in shadows./end id]
day 4 | favourite ship ‘You shine like a beacon, attracting the attention of all dark things.’ It chuckled. ‘Why d’you think I’m chatting with you? ’

This has probably been said but, KUDOS TO JONATHAN STROUD FOR GETTING INTO THE MIND OF A TEENAGE GIRL LIKE THAT!!
Like when I picked up the book, I never imagined I'd root for her.
There was nothing idealistic about her, just relatable. Her sense of displacement when Holly joined the group, her guilt about Lockwood. It wasn't that just because there is a somewhat traumatised girl as mc, those things were bound to be. No. It was all so well explained.
His writing style is impeccable. The humour blends seamlessly with the seriousness of their situation, the chill of ghost hunting. The way things were described made them tangible. The metaphors were on point. I have never been to London, yet I feel as if I know it, just a little bit 🤏
I loved all of Lockwood's dialogue, his personality (the airiness, his role as a leader and friend), his fierce loyalty to his cause (the scene at the grave? I was close to tears there)
And I kinda liked the fact that Lockwood and Lucy didn't kiss. It adds something to their relationship for me.

What’s funny about Lucy’s pov is it’s always so “sheltered Victorian woman”, like she sees his hand veins and loses her shit for four paragraphs, but I guarantee you she’s better than Lockwood
Lockwood’s POV:
She’s a really great sparring partner, her double knot maneuver was flawless and she’s such a great agent. Great thing I’m not attracted to her, that would screw my life up.
*Lucy pulls off her skirt to just wear her bike shorts*
*Lockwood has Thoughts for the next six chapters*

Never getting over them.
This is just my little appreciation post for Lockwood & Co.
I watched the series first and was absolutely floored and my obsession just grew from then. At that point I was not drawing, I physically could not and then my spark came back! I’ve drawn the trio so much it’s insane, and then I read the books. Floored again. I’ve never been a reader but gosh Lockwood & Co. made me one for sure. The amount of love I have for everyone involved with the making of the show and the books… I can’t even describe it. Thank you Lockwood & Co. for reigniting my passion and thank you to Lock Nation whom I’ve observed and now officially joined. <3
Smooches for you all! Now I’m off to make more Animatics, Storyboards, Fanart -the works!!!

Lockwood & Co. Appreciation Week
March 28th, Day 5
"Song/Poem/Quote" that you associate with L&Co
*THB & TCS spoilers under the cut*
I think this song is PERFECT for Lucy's POV at the end of THB and, of course, the development they went through in TCS. So get ready for an in-depth analysis!
"On some level I think I always understood / That a ship could never really love an anchor / So, I did the only thing that I could / And severed the rope to set you sailing from my harbor.
Lucy's reasoning for leaving in THB was to keep Lockwood safe. She thought that it was her who was keeping him from staying safe. (and somehow still remains in denial about why he would do something like that for her. UGH.)
"There are times when I still wonder about you / You are someone I have loved, but never known / And you'll never see the reasons I had / For keeping my claws away when they were close enough to hurt you"
Even so, we see how often Lucy thinks about Lockwood even after she convinced herself that leaving the company was absolutely necessary. There were always secrets between them, as well, with Lockwood always putting on a mask and Lucy so unsure of herself. Lockwood didn't understand Lucy's reasoning, and it takes them a long time to properly communicate them to each other. It's the next biggest step in their relationship, however vaguely defined it may be.
I am selfish, I am broken, I am cruel / I am all the things they might have said to you / Do you ever think of me and my two hands? / And wonder they never soothed your fevers / And wonder why they never tied your shoes? / And wonder why they never held you gently? / And wonder why they never had the chance to lose you?"
When Lucy goes on the Ealing Cannibal job with her former colleagues, she realizes that her actions really only made him worse. Plenty of people had called Lockwood selfish, broken, or cruel (impolite, competitive, unfeeling towards ghosts) throughout the series. But it takes Lucy a while to figure out that she was also in the wrong here. She had been running away from her fears and, though Lockwood hadn't exactly helped, she made a bad call. For just him, or for the both of them, who can tell?
And here I would also say something angsty about Lockwood's lack of self-preservation and "weak ties" to life. But I think this one is fairly self-explanatory. With no family left, Lucy, George, Holly, Flo, and eventually, Kipps, are the only people Lockwood has left who are genuinely there for him. (One could argue for Barnes, as well, but I'm sticking with these for simplicity's sake.)
