Probably not the discourse you want, but I literally lie awake at night thinking about why the fuck houses Rowan and Tarly sided with Rhaenyra. There’s not a reason given really?????? And Ormund Hightower had married Lady Sam not that long ago, so presumably they were down with the Hightowers then. Beesbury makes sense for obvious reasons, (lol) and the Lady Regent Tyrell deciding to sit it out because she’s a widow with a baby lord, but the rest? The Battle of the Honeywine bothers me so much???? It shouldn’t have happened. But I guess Daeron needed someplace to be daring? And also the Reach had to be nerfed, otherwise the Greens probably would have had more of fitting chance. This just drives me up the wall.
I’ve seen some explanations for why the Starks went with Rhaenyra, including that the Starks actually with the Velaryons in supporting Laenor’s claim at the GC, which is very interesting! Maester Yandel speculates it’s because they were still upset about the New Gift, but it could be for several other reasons, and maybe those reasons are still extant when it came to picking sides in the dance. I don’t really think the Pact of Ice and Fire, if real, is that compelling of a reason tbh.
Seven blessings, Branwen, and thank you for dropping by!
I have an entire tag dedicated to this topic, if anyone is interested. I have also tried to think of an explanation, but haven't been able to come up with many that satisfy me. It really does seem that George worked himself backwards from his set-ending of Aegon III and had to make sure the blacks won somehow, but, unfortunately, he ended up overpowering them, defying logic and resorting to many deus-ex-machina moments.
You make a very good point about why/how Lord Ormund would even marry Lady Sam in the first place if House Tarly didn't support Aegon II. Lady Tyrell wants to stay neutral, but somehow the Hightowers leave Garmund in Highgarden? So he can be a convenient hostage if the Tyrells decide to change their minds? The whole explanation with Lyonel Hightower and Lady Sam as to why the Hightowers couldn't raise a second army - I very much dislike it and really feels random AF.
@duxbelisarius pointed out to me recently that a lot of these places, governed by Reach houses that sided with Rhaenyra, cover the distance between Oldtown and King's Landing: Uplands, Honeyholt, Highgarden, Bitterbridge, Horn Hill, Longtable. That's mightily convenient, since it basically prevents another Hightower host from reaching the capital.
As for the reasons why - George is really going to have to invent blood feuds from scratch, basically - because I can't imagine that Otto spent all those years after Viserys' dismissed him as Hand and did not go on a full propaganda and lobbying offensive to secure the Reach for Aegon. When has Rhaenyra lifted one finger for the Reach lords, by the way? Why would the Reach lords not prefer a Reach-adjacent King to unhinged royal consort Daemon Targaryen? What could they possibly gain by disregarding Andal Law in favour of Rhaenyra? Don't they have bastards and elder sisters, too?
Even Lady Jeyne is a mystery, to be honest. Yes, she is blood related to Rhaenyra, fair. I could accept this explanation. But her claim has nothing to do with Rhaenyra's. She is her father's only living child. She is disputed by her cousins, not her inexistent little brothers. Lady Jeyne as ruler of the Vale is very much in line with Andal Law. Why would the greens take that away from her? She's been Lady of the Vale since she was a baby (under a regency) and no green has ever contested her. What exactly does she gain with the legal precedent of Rhaenyra taking the throne ahead of her brother? Lady Jeyne has no brothers. A daughter inherits before an uncle.
Furthermore, Daemon kills his wife, the kinswoman of her regent Yorbert Royce, and she is fine with it? Very well, it's more ambiguous in the books, but Daemon goes to petition Lady Jeyne for his wife's estates and she must have found that insulting, since she kicks him out of the Vale. And now she wants to commit her armed forces to help this man become consort?
Couldn't Lady Jeyne have decided on a military alliance with the greens in exchange for them supporting her as ruling Lady of the Vale any time she needed it? Or at least remained neutral? There was nothing to gain from throwing her lot with Rhaenyra.
The Starks may very well could have been upset by the New Gift, but that was Alysanne's doing, Rhaenyra's and Aegon's grandmother. What bearing does a long-dead queen have on anything? Yandel says this is why the Starks sided with Rhaenys/Corlys at the Great Council of 101, because they had beef with Jaehaerys and Alysanne, but let's examine that for the moment.
Jaehaerys and Alysanne are divided on this matter. Jaehaerys' preferred heir was Viserys. He had the ultimate authority to deny Alysanne re: the New Gift, but he didn't. Alysanne was the instigator in this regard. Her preferred heir was Rhaenys - yet the Starks vote as Alysanne would have liked? How is this payback/revenge, exactly?
Furthermore, Rhaenys is still a Targaryen, so it's not like the dynasty would have ended with her. I very much doubt Laenor would have used the last surname Velaryon if he ascended. It is very likely they would have reached a similar agreement like in the show, let's be serious. In addition, Rhaenys has nothing to do with the New Gift either? Neither does Viserys.
Also, the decision during the Great Council of 101 is very different. Both their fathers were dead by then, so proximity to the King is not an issue - both Rhaenys and Viserys are two generations down from Jaehaerys. So the question really is eldest daughter of the first son vs her male cousin (from the second son), similar to Lady Jeyne's predicament. By Andal Law, Rhaenys should have been Queen. The Starks, therefore, in a man v woman situation, prefer to vote for a man, even though the man in question is a cousin. Yet during the Dance, they side with a woman, even though the man they pass over is a brother, i.e. more closely related? What exactly are they doing here, just voting the opposite way Andal Law indicates, any time they get the chance? If the Starks are such staunch feminists, ahead of their time, how come Rickon's daughters, Serena or Sansa, don't later inherit Winterfell?
If you ask me, it would have been in the Stark's best interest (and in line with their ideology) not to get involved in this at all. What do they gain? What incentive do they have to side with Rhaenyra? An oft-given argument for the Starks is their honour and them not wanting to "break their oaths". But we already have an in-universe character obsessed with the law, that is Stannis Baratheon, and he eminently doesn't seem to think that oaths taken before Aegon's birth have any legal value - he calls Rhaenyra a traitor. So what oaths would the Starks be breaking then?
I don't know, at least the Pact of Ice and Fire could have provided some incentive for Cregan's support - he trades his military intervention for a future daughter-in-law - a Targaryen princess that's (likely) to come with a dragon of her own. I'm not inclined to believe Jace was as irresponsible as to marry Sara Snow, but if he did, Cregan also got a future Queen that could have influenced policy in favour of the North. It's a more straightforward and understandable military alliance - each party gains something by this agreement.
IMO this distribution of power for the Dance would have made more sense.

China asserted the right and intent to continue intervening in the Vietnam War where its forces participated in the killing of Americans, South Vietnamese, Laotians and Cambodians. The U.S. side said, “In the absence of a negotiated settlement the United States envisages the ultimate withdrawal of all US forces from the region consistent with the aim of self-determination for each country of Indochina.”
Washington also agreed to curtail its support for the Taiwanese to defend their territorial integrity and independent identity by withdrawing its forces from Taiwan, but China never reciprocated by enabling America’s “graceful exit” from Vietnam.
[…]
To ensure that historians will judge his record as kindly as Xi presently does for the wrong reasons, Kissinger should at least acknowledge the redeeming truth Nixon recognized in Taiwan’s permanent democratic identity. He should demonstrate that enlightened vision by making his first visit to Taiwan and honoring its dedication to democracy.
Such a revelation, though very late, will be good for cross-Strait stability, threatened by four decades of Kissingerian engagement/accommodation policies. It will be good for the cause of change in China that Nixon set out to accomplish and tasked Kissinger to prepare for. And, given the teaching of Kissinger’s Harvard mentor, the late William Yandell Elliott, that all international relations is fundamentally a struggle between good and evil, it will be good for Kissinger’s soul. His road to Damascus goes through Taipei.
Read this article. This is the US establishment’s main criticism of Kissinger… Millions dead bc of imperialist intervention with the involvement of this man and this is what we’re talking about. (And from what this article says, Kissinger is more reasonable about China than most USAmerican politicians.) interesting implication that north vietnam was somehow the bad guy too, “self determination” lol

all the concerts i’ve been to!
(like. that’s it. a list of the concerts i’ve attended lol)
thank you for tagging me on this one, @cleoselene 💜
it’s not as many as i’d like, AT ALL. growing up outside the US in a country with a shattered economy seriously limited my options back in the day lol but i’m trying to catch up!
belinda (2004)
wisin & yandel (2008)
ricardo arjona (2009)
caramelos de cianuro (like. idk? a few many times. those guys were playing anywhere you could find them between 2009-2012)
lasso (2013)

sin bandera (2023)
on deck (lol) this year: niall horan and green day! <3 so far. until i manage to con a religious mom to give me her daughter’s tickets for olivia rodrigo for free
also, technically not their concerts, so i’m not counting them on their own, but i’ve been lucky enough to have seen some awesome artists as opening acts in the shows i’ve gone to, so little shoutout to little mix, khalid, muna, gayle, dylan, and meet me @ the altar. also 5sos bc i saw them as 1D’s opener back in 2014 lol so getting to go to their show last year was just <333
also also, worth noting that my biggest bucket list one ever, the dream of all dreams i’d had ever since i started to consciously listen to my own music was something i actually got to do during the most catastrophic case of excessive demand, ticketmaster fuckery, and a dislocated knee on top of all that. like what the actual fuck? did i really go to the eras tour? in crutches? lmao life is crazy! when i get annoying about going to the eras tour it’s because i though for YEARS that i would never be able to see taylor live, so to get to see her singing all the songs i was never able to see throughout the years but had always loved… it was beyond surreal. i just had a credit card and a dream lol
anywaysss, as for the rest of my bucket list, there’s likely too many bc i’d basically love to see all the artists i listen to at least once lol but i think the shortlist would be:
fall out boy
paramore
dua lipa
harry styles
kacey musgraves
lady gaga
shakira
carly rae jepsen
olivia rodrigo after i execute my con
this was a lot of fun, for sure :)
tagging @blue-da-ba-dee @bottomofthe9th @swiftzeldas @captainbradmarchand (if you want, of courseee💕) and anyone who might find it fun :)

The cover for the new single is beautiful. Genuinely better than some of her album covers. I hope the video is something that matches the vibe we’re getting from the picture. Something that has always been kind of lacking in her career generally is big budget production for her music videos. She could be doing a lot more than she does on that front. She has access to any director she wants.
Unpopular opinion, but the obsession that the fandom has over the directors of Shakira's MV's, is petty. Not saying I don't want quality videos from Shakira, but usually a lot of these conversations just seem pointless. Shakira trusts Jaume the most with her art and vision. I don't even think it's solely a budget thing. Shakira's really involved in her art and gives a lot of input, so it's obvious she works with directors that allow her to do so (Jaume). And for the most part, he delivers. There's all this talk about the filters, the budget, and yet Shakira's one of the few artists, that continues to be huge on youtube. Even the likes of Taylor Swift, Beyonce, Ariana, etc with their extravagant big budget music videos, aren't as consistent with their numbers on YT as Shakira is. Because ultimately, the money that is invested in them has a purpose, it's to interpret the song and transform it into views & exposure for the song. For example, recently I stumbled upon a video of Wisin & Yandel talking about how much of their budget goes into their music videos, and Wisin mentions that they invested more for their music video with JLO, and the interviewer asks them if it was worth it, to which Yandel shakes his head NO lol. They laugh it off, but it makes sense. Music videos are important, but the sole purpose is to give exposure and more context to the song. Which immediately made me think of the constant debates and arguments that this fandom has over Jaume directing her music videos, yet most of Shakira's music videos are incredibly successful. From a strictly business standpoint, she's doing the smartest thing. Jaume is the director that helps her transmit her ideas the best, and manages to do it at her convenience. Also, It's also not like hiring another director is a guarantee of anything. If i'm not mistaken, Me gusta wasn't directed by Jaume, the filter and all the elements that fans seems to obsess over were more vibrant yet that's one of her more boring music videos & with the least replay value so🤷🏽‍♀️.

Hii Ami!! Secret Santa here!! Happy Tuesday!! Hope your weekend was a relaxing one, hun!! ✨
My week has been going well so far. Passing by faster than I had expected for a week that’s a little stressful in terms of having to go to the airport later this week. If there’s nothing I dislike the most is the airport 🫠. The one thing I’m excited for is that while in PR, im going to a concert for a reggaeton duo called Wisin y Yandel. I’ve been listening to their music for almost as long as I can remember! They’re a big part of my childhood so being able to see them one more time before the end of the year is something I’m excited for, definitely! Around this time, it’s still relatively hot, but not as hot as it gets within the months of May-August!! Still hot during the day, but a lot cooler at night. Regardless, it’s really cold where I live so it’s gonna be great to get out of it for a while 😅.
Priorities indeed lol!! I’d do that, yeah!! My spoken Spanish is t the best, be I can help you understand it just a bit more, if that helps!! I know European Spanish is a little different than Caribbean Spanish, but we can give it a go!! I also love that Spanish has so many different ways to call things, so I’m always curious how different Spanish-speaking countries call things.
You got to watch Louis livestream? Love that for you! I was at work while it was happening, so I only got to see the photos that get released on tumblr about what was going on at the time. I heard nothing but good things about his show!! Did you notice the rainbow lights?!? That’s all we could talk about in the gc I’m in!! 🥺✨
More speed round questions!! Are you a coffee or a tea person? When I was younger, I was neither!! But now, I’ve grown to have an appreciation for the two in different scenarios!! But if I had to choose, it’d be coffee (never black coffee tho!!). Do you know any other languages? I know you’re learning Spanish atm, but are you familiar with anything else?! What do you enjoy doing on a rainy day? I tend to just stay in bed and watch a comforting tv show/movie or play video games. The true key to my heart: video games lol. Do you have a favorite number? Very silly question lol. Mine’s 20. 🎄✨
Hello hello! I'm so sorry this is so late. Real life took over, then we had a few dinners with friends and things and I've been exhausted. But I'm back! How are you?
Speed round answers: tea / coffee - both! And hot chocolate! Which i pick kinda depends on my mood, but i don't have a major preference one way or the other
I speak a few of the Indian languages, but outside of those, nothing else. Spanish is a wip learning, but i wanna learn more languages too, at some point.
I'm very much a chai (made the Indian way) and curl up with a movie on a rainy day person.
What's your fav video game? And i don't really have a fav number but if anyone asks I always say 4, so there's that.

I've only read parts of World of Ice and Fire, but one of the things I liked about it is that wrong or not Maester Yandel isn't just a strawman skeptic and that does give legit reasons for a lot of the stuff he says along with qualifiers like "Maybe whoever inspired the Children of the Forest legends really did know some lost arts that we don't understand like speaking with ravens, but that doesn't mean they had literal magic powers and could summon tidal waves and warg into beasts"
Yeah… I guess he’s not a strawman, but Yandel’s just so blatantly wrong sometimes it’s embarrassing. Like, for example:
It was the children who carved the weirwoods with faces, perhaps to give eyes to their gods so that they might watch their worshippers at their devotions. Others, with little evidence, claim that the greenseers—the wise men of the children—were able to see through the eyes of the carved weirwoods. The supposed proof is the fact that the First Men themselves believed this; it was their fear of the weirwoods spying upon them that drove them to cut down many of the carved trees and weirwood groves, to deny the children such an advantage. Yet the First Men were less learned than we are now, and credited things that their descendants today do not…
Archmaester Fomas’s Lies of the Ancients—though little regarded these days for its erroneous claims regarding the founding of Valyria and certain lineal claims in the Reach and westerlands—does speculate that the Others of legend were nothing more than a tribe of the First Men, ancestors of the wildlings, that had established itself in the far north. Because of the Long Night, these early wildlings were then pressured to begin a wave of conquests to the south. That they became monstrous in the tales told thereafter, according to Fomas, reflects the desire of the Night’s Watch and the Starks to give themselves a more heroic identity as saviors of mankind, and not merely the beneficiaries of a struggle over dominion.
Oh, and there’s this especially fun bit:
Claiming to have consulted with texts said to be preserved at Castle Black, Septon Barth put forth that the children of the forest could speak with ravens and could make them repeat their words. According to Barth, this higher mystery was taught to the First Men by the children so that ravens could spread messages at a great distance. It was passed, in degraded form, down to the maesters today, who no longer know how to speak to the birds. […] Ravens are amongst the cleverest of birds, but they are no wiser than infant children, and considerably less capable of true speech, whatever Septon Barth might have believed.
“It was the singers who taught the First Men to send messages by raven… but in those days, the birds would speak the words. The trees remember, but men forget, and so now they write the messages on parchment and tie them round the feet of birds who have never shared their skin.” –ADWD, Bran II
So, in a world where we know magic exists and the greenseers can see through the eyes of the trees, where we know the Others exist, where we know wargs exist, Yandel just comes off as stupid or deliberately ignorant. I mean, it tells us a lot about the Citadel and how their anti-magic agenda warps even curious and intelligent men into this really obvious blindspot, but it’s… sad. Sadly hilarious sometimes, but still.
And IMO it puts Yandel’s historiography in doubt in general, where how can we really believe that anything he says is true? Sure, often he’s just quoting other sources (like Archmaester Gyldayn’s histories of House Targaryen, and works by other maesters), but how many of those sources are missing magical motivations and magical events because the Citadel censored them or encouraged the writers to dismiss them as nonsense?
Furthermore, it’s not just magical things the maesters censored, but political motivations and events, depending on the whims of who they were writing for. Gyldayn quotes Septon Eustace often re the Dance of the Dragons; but Eustace was on Aegon II’s side, and wrote blatant false propaganda like saying Rhaenyra’s arms and legs were all cut up the first time she sat the Iron Throne… even though she was wearing full armor. How much else of Eustace’s words can we really trust? In addition to this, another source for the history of the Dance was Grand Maester Orwyle, who wrote his account to flatter Rhaenyra to save himself from being executed. Not to mention another major source, Mushroom’s account, which was a deliberately scandalous rag full of debauchery that may not have even been written by Mushroom himself. And to make this even more difficult, sometimes the editing of the history novellas (as published) cut out bits where Gyldayn said he was quoting Eustace or Orwyle or Mushroom, so it’s presented to the reader as straight facts!
And then there’s Yandel himself. According to Elio Garcia, when Robert died, and Ned Stark was arrested and executed for treason and the War of the Five Kings began, Yandel realized his recent history, his accounts of Robert’s Rebellion and the Greyjoy Rebellion, had way too much hero Ned Stark and hero Stannis Baratheon in it. (Robert’s best friend and Robert’s brother, after all.) So he cut them out as much as he could, and rewrote. Paragraphs that originally praised Ned and Stannis for their generalship and their success in battle, were heavily edited to exclude them from the narrative after Joffrey declared them traitors. That leads to a lot of awkwardness in those sections, where some readers may go, “wait, this is missing something”… but unfortunately many readers won’t even realize what Yandel did. TWOIAF is “the untold history of the Game of Thrones”, after all! It’s got be true, right?
Although at least Yandel’s writing to please the king is extremely obvious (and odious) in the section of the Sack of King’s Landing, where he says that Tywin’s men fought “the defenders of King’s Landing” (and doesn’t mention the rape and murder and sacking of the innocent populace), and then goes on to say “it is not known” who murdered Princess Rhaenys and Prince Aegon, and raped and murdered Princess Elia. That Yandel even includes the supposed rumors that Aerys ordered it done, or that Elia murdered her children herself, instead of including any word possibly damning Robert’s father-in-law Tywin… well, that should recognized by all readers, I would hope. (Though considering how much irrational Elia hate there is, I doubt it, alas.)
Basically, Maester Yandel is a very unreliable narrator, and in some places it’s more obvious than others, more or less noticeable by the readers. I mean, it’s excellent worldbuilding, no doubt about that. It certainly deals with the concepts of history being written by the winners, and the problems of conflicting historical sources, and the nature of academia, and everything. But sometimes it still worries me when fans (especially other meta writers) accept these deliberately written-to-be-biased sources in TWOIAF and the history novellas (and eventually Fire and Blood) as absolute truth.

Is it wild to think that Aegon IV might have wanted young Daemon Blackfyre to become King of the Stepstones?
I was thinking about this last night (when I couldn’t sleep lol) in the context of Daemon’s marriage to Rohanne of Tyrosh. This marriage was specifically planned by the king before his death: Yandel notes that the newly succeeded King Daeron II “paid the dowry that Aegon had promised to the Archon of Tyrosh, thereby seeing his half brother Daemon Blackfyre wed to Rohanne of Tyrosh as Aegon had desired”, and later refers to it being “Aegon's desire—not Daemon's—that he [i.e. Daemon] be wed to Rohanne of Tyrosh”. However, we have no idea why Aegon IV brokered this marriage with (presumably) the Archon. It’s certainly possible that Aegon believed or had received indication that no grand Westerosi aristocrat would marry his daughter to a bastard, even a king’s bastard who had been given a king’s sword and an impossibly young knighthood (for fear, perhaps, of encouraging Daeron’s suspicion when the latter became king); Aegon may have also thought it would be politically impossible to arrange a marriage between the recently acknowledged and as yet unlegitimated Daemon and his own (legitimately born) daughter Daenerys, even if the king didn’t mind linking his doted-upon bastard son with the daughter of his hated late wife.
However, maybe Aegon decided that he wanted to make his eldest (acknowledged) bastard son King of the Stepstones, and thought a Tyroshi marriage would help such a scheme. There was some precedent for this sort of claim in the Targaryen family: Aegon IV’s own paternal grandfather, Daemon Targaryen (who was, of course, young Daemon Blackfyre’s namesake) had ruled as King of the Stepstones and the Narrow Sea (before abandoning his crown, of course). If Aegon doubted his ability to disown Daeron and proclaim Daemon his heir to the Iron Throne - aware, as Yandel notes, that “such an act would bring war to the realm, for Daeron's allies—chief among them the Prince of Dorne, whose sister Daeron had wed—would defend his rights” - he may nevertheless have wanted to needle Daeron by giving Daemon that same promise of royal status: just as both of the sons of Prince Baelon Targaryen “c[a]me to wear crowns” - Viserys I as Lord of the Seven Kingdoms, Prince Daemon as King of the Stepstones - so Aegon’s new Daemon would have a Stepstones crown to match the Westerosi crown his (half) brother wore. That Tyrosh is the closest of the Free Cities to the Stepstones (indeed, literally on the northernmost island), and has extended control over the islands in the past (including during the Triarchy and, with Braavos, during the Daughters’ War) may have encouraged Aegon push for a Daemon-Rohanne marriage: while his Daemon would not have the draconic assistance that guaranteed grandfather Daemon’s conquest over half a century prior, the military power of Tyrosh (likely, I think, under the control of Rohanne’s family) might have proved effective in seizing the Stepstones (and the Archon, so Aegon might have believed, would be duly grateful enough to have his relation Rohanne become a queen to lead - and, presumably, finance - such an invasion).
Plus, Aegon might have thought that such a plan would be a further needling of Daeron and his Dornish allies. Aegon’s own plans to invade Dorne had been total, even ridiculous failures: his great fleet of 174 AC had been “broken and scattered by storms on its way to Dorne”, while his “wood-and-iron monstrosities, fitted with pumps that shot jets of wildfire” were themselves set afire in the kingswood. If Aegon wanted to make Daemon King of the Stepstones, however, he might have seen this move as a way to avenge his botched attempts at Dornish conquest. If Dorne still held the Stepstones in this period (as F&B left the Stepstones as largely in the hands of Princess Aliandra Martell), conquering the islands might have been a way for Aegon to attack his hated eldest son by proxy - taking an imperial colony from the hands of Daeron’s brother-in-law. Too, just as Aegon’s uncle Alyn Velaryon had won fame in the Stepstones during the Daughters’ War, and had triumphantly led a fleet up the Greenblood during Daeron I’s war of conquest (presumably sailing through the Stepstones to do so), so Aegon might have hoped that young Daemon would lead his own glorious invasion of Dorne from his new seat in the Stepstones, sailing up the Greenblood to bring Daeron’s Martell in-laws and their vassals to their knees.
(I’m also thinking of the rumors during the reign of Henry VIII - GRRM’s stated parallel for Aegon IV, even if I take some issue with such a parallel - that the king planned to make or considered making his own bastard son, Henry Fitzroy, king of Ireland.)
Listen, I’m just saying, if this idea gets a mention in Fire and Blood Volume 2, you better believe I’m going to find the smuggest David Bowie gif to post here.

I love that Lilac loves to dance! What style does she love the most? Her least favorite? What does she love to do with Ethan? And with the 🐰🐰🐰🐰s? Which kid takes after her in terms of dancing? Sorry lovely. I want to know it all. Love you and stay safe and hydrated. X 💞💞
mi vida, mi reina, mi corazon
thank you so much for sending me this about my baby. sorry it took me so long to answer. I had to hop on the desktop to format it how my type a brain likes it
This was so much fun and now I'm listening to some old school reggaetón as I clean my place (moping the floor with this ass)
What style does she love the most?
Any and all styles of Latin dancing, but most specifically Cumbias. Holy shit. When a good cumbia starts, Lilac goes ape shit. My girl lives for a good time. When you can show off that those hips don't like while having fun? That's her jam.
Her least favorite?
Square dancing. No rhythm. No beat. Just following directions. She's a rebel. She has a permit and it just says she does what she wants. The only exception is the Cha Cha Slide and Cupid Shuffle (see below) because those ae classics and you can add your own flair
Plus, they made her do square dancing in fifth grade and for what?
What does she love to do with Ethan?
She loves to get him all hot and bothered through her dancing but let's face it, that's not hard to do. Her favorite is bachata (because that's basically having sex with clothes lol jk jk). Also, reggaetón, specifically old school reggaetón (I'm talking Daddy Yankee, Don Omar, Wisin y Yandel). Damn. Callback to her party days. She is the queen of perreo.
Ethan is a bad dancer and white so he just stands there, swaying occasionally, while she's all hips, hair, and arms (and ass ayooo).
And all the while he's thinking of all the things he's going to do to her once he has her alone.
And with the 🐰🐰🐰🐰s?
OMG! Their babies! THEY LOVE THE CHA CHA SLIDE, CUPID SHUFFLE, AND A SPANISH EQIVALENT CALLED CABALLO DORADO/PAYASO DEL RODEO. Omg the babies just giggle like crazy when their mom does this with them and when she pulls a reluctant Ethan to the dance floor and makes him do it too.
She also teaches them dance moves that were popular when she was younger ("Single Ladies", "Party Rock Shuffle", even the Gangnam Style lol). They love that when they're little but as they get older, they claim it's embarrassing lol
Which kid takes after her in terms of dancing?
Definitely Jonah, my little happy feet. Then Jasmine dethrones him because she is a natural born dancer.
