I don't want people to reblog that AI art post so I'll put my addition here:

One thing that will always make me cringe with those AI imitations of middle to late 19th century art is how the intelligence will always try to match ALL the women figures with the current 21th century beauty standards. Now, of course, I wouldn't be complaining if these kind of images weren't plaguing the "classical art" or "oil painting" tags. But since they are, I will show you what 19th century painting of women really looks like. And yeah, I know, some paintings match with current beauty standards but it's still more complicated than that. "Classic" painting is not all about representing pretty ladies. Otherwise historians of art would be bored.

Okay, if it's a "classic" painting, let's go with neoclassicism which is basically a return to the classic inspirations from antiquity and a return to simplicity after years of the wild Baroque and Rococo of the 18th century. Want to see portraits of women in that time?

So far, notice how these two women don't look at all like the women in those fake AI paintings. They are portraits of real women, thus real models. But even when they were painting gods, 19th century painters HAD models! Not only that, they were also inspired by antiquity, which wasn't really doing realism either, they had their own ideals like, to cite one exemple, the really straight noses you always see in greek statues. Well, that's also in neoclassical paintings! Look:

On the other side, you've got two strong opponents (and logical responding movements) to this return to classical culture : Romantism and Realism. Once again, look at the diversity :

Realism is pretty self-explanatory. The painters were going back to show normal people, farmers and workers. They weren't here to make them beautiful or to conform to beauty standards but to show the world as it is. Result was a lot of controversies, notably with Courbet and Les baigneuses, a representation of a strong woman in an unflatering pose and dirt on her feet that shook the beauty standards so dear to the academic ideals of his times. Check it out if you're interested, there's plenty of articles about it. And romanticism? Once again very diverse. Just look at pre-romantism, with Goya, who loooved representing fucked up little scenes. Or with Delacroix, here with one of his most famous portrait (Jeune orpheline au cimetière) probably because of the expression, the pose, everything that makes that girl look alive, real, unique.

But wait.... You've already seen classical paintings were the ladies looked like all the ladies nowadays, right? Maybe you've seen those very pretty pre raphaelites paintings with those women that look kinda like Florence Welch. Maybe you've seen academic art, the most palatable of 19th century style when it comes to beauty norms. And it's true, it could be similar to these prompted AI classical babes, except once again, it's not. Because once again, they had models, and models were different from paintings to paintings. And this is this systematic same face vibes that makes AI so boring. Because even when real historical art comes close to that, it is always way way way more rich and full of surprises.

Then, you have all these art styles that AI weirdly stays away from : those where the style and process is so strong, so much more important than the subject, that it would be hard to copy without noticing the difference. It could be impressionism, it could be symbolism or better, it could be the avant-garde artists that announces then blends into the wild, colorful and tortured art of the first half of the 20th century.

Conclusion/ TLDR : If fake historical AI art becomes more realistic every day, it will never be as rich and diverse as the real deal because it will always be used to appease an algorithm for people who just want to see pretty images that catters to them and never challenge their views. When it comes to beauty norm, this could be dangerous and make people believe that these was always how women looked like. That all girls were born with removed buccal fat and symmetrical faces, even in old paintings. I don't know, it may be nothing, but it may be something. Thank you for those who read all that and I hope see many cool paintings in museums :)

Addition: This is of course a very european centric vision of art but it's what the AI will take inspiration from anyway. For the same reasons, these paintings are very white but I was also trying to avoid the icky orientalist representations that were so trendy in the 19th century. Note that there is an even better diversity in paintings when you open your eyes to non-european centric art.

Everyone's already talked about this but wow Optimus is portrayed so well!!! I love the dialogue when he describes Cybertron. Also love the pink backgrounds i some panels!! Anyway the interaction with him and Spike feels good and authentic. nice

The fight scenes. SO good to me, I think the art is super dynamic and the way the sound effects are written give great impact. The artist knew what they were doing for sure. I love how they use the comic media to its fullest. With those different shaped slanted box panels, and the smear lines when somethings moving fast idk

I also looove the shading in these comics!! and the linework like on their faces really helps the atmosphere. once again i love the sound effects (especially that big TONG) when starscream gets hit lol it just looks like all the fonts were designed or drawn by the artists yk?? and the variety of camera angles throughout is cool too.

Also love the relationship between optimus and the humans. It feels... better than how other transformers media has handled it (imo). I think its sweet

again great comic art the lighting.. the EVERYTHING idk i just admire this artist a lot (i think his name is daniel warren johnson, although it switches to Jorge Corona later) one thing i love in particular is how the lines are like... a little messy and sometimes a little all over the place-to depict their wear and grime. cool!

Next. Cant talk about skybound without talkingabout THE DECEPTICONS. oh my god. starscream is a spawn of hell. what a bitch. like actually he might be at his worst here hes so diabolical. Anyway even though hes very evil hes still enjoyable to watch because its just idk pure villain. Soundwaves care for his cassettes is sweet as usual. PUNTING Ravage is crazy. cannibalizing Skywarp is crazy. FGELP IDEK WHAT TO SAY except i like the art a lot here as usual its great very comic-y again. SOundwave stays a favorite character.

THIS is an iconic and great moment of skybound, i love it, i lvoe that optimus is willing to use this cannon to further the battle yk also looks badass

CC I'M SO EXCITED, I FINALLY GOT ENOUGH CONFIDENCE TO COMMISSION THINGS FROM PEOPLE (it's like three different people AJDJWJF)

but the prices are good, two of the people needed it for emergency money so it was a good push to bite the bullet and message them. I'm so happy, I'm gonna have art of me and Mammon (and one is gonna be a sketch page of me, mammon, and a friend who also likes obey me). Also i lost my drawing streak, but I just drew a bunch of random poses today for fun, so it makes up lmaoo.

anyway I am here to ramble about the job my mc/I would have in the Devildom! definitely got roped into working at the bunny cafe for one (1) shift with Mammon (the daily chat is what gave me this idea).

Not sure how the cafe works, but in the anime, Beel is working the bar lolol. So I always imagined it as a bar with some food, and you could request certain servers by paying extra, and obviously give them carrots or tips. Like a mix between a maid cafe and a club I suppose is what I'm thinking?? (...Hooters? I've never been)

anyway I totally got coerced bullied into working a shift (I am always caving when it comes to Mammon </3). And my anxiety is terrible, I CANNOT talk to people (it's a wonder how I'm a manager), so I'd definitely stick to bussing tables and helping run super big orders with one of the guys. Maybe even have Beel teach me to make some drinks, because that seems really fun. Basically completely avoiding any kind of one on one service.

And I think there's been chats or devilgrams about mc gaining popularity and having a fan club, so imagine all these patrons requesting me, and the owner has to be like "unfortunately - no." And then someone is like, "I'll pay an extra $100 just to have her" and that's when the owner decides to ask if I'd be willing. Because it doesn't hurt to ask, right?

And I'm like, "Ha! I'd do it for $250", and like, I say it as a joke, but imagine Mammon overhears everything. He'd drag me to the table and say my price, and to everyone's surprise, the demon agrees to pay. Now everyone is like 👁️👁️ interesting.

and now I'm suddenly serving a random demon, and I'm nervous as hell (HA), and I'd honestly spill their drink or something on them. The bill comes, come to find they tipped way over 20%, and wrote a note about hoping to have me again. Now I've singlehandedly paid back a big chunk of Mammon's debt.

now THAT would change my mind real quick. I would do anything for money, I'm so easily convinced 💀 like imagine how much cash I could make in one shift. Anxiety who ??

It ends up becoming a part time gig, and I become the owner's favorite. I learn the bar for fun, and can be requested as a server for a big fee. I'd like to imagine Mammon works extra hard to earn the owner's favor and begs to work the same shifts as me (little does he know I request to work with him bc he makes me feel safe, especially if people get way too drunk)

And it's so sweet that you're making the money to help cover Mammon's debts. And I love that both of you are like... requesting to work together and the other person is unaware of it. That's adorable!

I'm always going to recommend writing your ideas down! It doesn't have to be story-style, sometimes just getting them out of your head in some form really makes a big difference! Especially if it's something you've never told anyone or written down before. Forcing yourself to articulate ideas in a way that would make sense to someone else (even if no one else ever sees it) really helps to make ideas more solid. Then you can expound on them even more! It's a never ending cycle for me lol.

Anyway, I love all of this, I think it's fantastic.

For my part, I'd absolutely be bunny-ing it up at the bar with Beel. I like the idea of him making Devildom drinks and MC making human world ones. Hi! I’m curious on what you’d say are the must-read or best issues/arcs for Mystique’s character in X-Factor (1986)? I’ve read a lot of her in Claremont’s uncanny, Carey’s x-men, and the krakoa era and I looove her in all of that and how complex she is—but I’ve found that there’s not many perspectives or opinions on her lengthy time in X-Factor and I’d love to know your thoughts.

Thank you for asking Anon! Mystique's time in X-Factor is one of my favourite arcs. Essentially she is captured and forced into being a government agent and the series shows her adapting to that whilst also continuing to pursue her own ends. I'd be happy to recommend a few issues:

X-Factor #114-117 Forge implants a chip in Mystique's head which limits her shapeshifting, much to her disgust. These issues arr her bedding into the team, with all the awkwardness of an ex-terrorist joining a government agency.

X-Factor #129-130 This is the arc where Mystique briefly breaks away from the group in order to make an attempt to assassinate her son Graydon Creed...or does she?? It's a plot with lots of twists and builds the 'is she a hero or villain' vibe that runs through the series.

X-Factor 134-137 This is right at the end of the X-Factor arc where the team and the government come to blows. There's some great interpersonal scenes

X-Factor #139 An issue that focuses solely on Mystique, now posing as Mallory Brickman and gives some snippets of her past activities. I'm not keen on the art but the story is an absolute gem.

Sabretooth & Mystique: This limited series takes place during the X-Factor run. There's lots of Mystique/Destiny in it, not to mention backstory and action packed adventure. Another personal favourite.

ok. ranking all the outfits in this merch line actually

in first place we have nagi. no question. slaying. killing it. serving cunt. the snappy red on white? the HEELS? the LACE CUFFFS? the brocade? the single gorgeously contrasting touch of green? he literally used the slayper rifle to shoot the mother bullet into the head of john f cuntedy. ironic for a guy who never gives a shit about anything but we can only assume he has a stylist. again i cannot overemphasize: the fucking HEELS. they had to hide those things halfway offscreen because they were afraid of his power

reo taking second place because he can never be separated from his husband <3 i'm biased because i looove the color purple but i seriously think this fit is sooo cute. the old-fashion formality is kind of silly but moe in its own way (bro is wearing a cummerbund lol) and the blueberry themed accents really tie it together. not much to add but i really love it. my lil purple fancyboy <3

isagi's fit here is a close third and i was originally going to tie him with reo but my love of purple won out. this one is just solid all around and the light green is a nice color. the necklace is so cunty. however points off for the official merch making yet another attempt to convince me that isagi's image color is green. i will never accept this. i will never cede. look at him he's fucking blue

ok chigiri's fit is walking a fine line here for me. the concept is ADORABLE and i LOVE the strawberry theme but i feel like it would look better on a type of fashion more equipped to handle that kind of whimsy, for example a lolita dress. as it is it is still hugging the serious formalwear theme a bit too closely and so the whimsy ends up looking kind of clownish in that context, it's too goofy, it doesn't fit. kind of a miss for me but love the concept, please go back to the drawing and make it into a dress, let chigiri wear lolita, etc

ok well we can barely see bachira's fit here because of his fuckass pose but it's like, sure, ok, idk. i like the jacket but the pants are really a sticking point. the plaid looks goofy as hell but i guess that goofiness fits bachira but i still would nawt want to wear this. the boots are ADORABLE but tucking the pants into them like this just looks so weird. this is another thing that could have been fixed with feminization because if the plaid pants had been a plaid lolita-style skirt it would have been much cuter AND let the boots shine

In that last mission with Bill, she thought everything would be fine, then she thought she could save Bill, then thought she could fix her. She knows better now. But I think she need to believe in herself more, because we all know what happens when the doctor assumes she'll lose...

The brendan story as an allegory for the timeless child is so fascinating to me purely because there's parts of it that just....aren't quite right. Like the loving parents and the cliff fall being more malicious instead of accidental. Iirc the story was created by Tecteun so some of the changes make sense (the loving parents- tecteun sees herself as a saviour) but why the other changes? Just to make it make more sense? To seem more unremarkable?

I love that the brendan story is like. Everything is perfectly normal. Until you look a little too closely. Or watch a little too long. But even if someone had watched the whole thing, if theyre not familiar with earth customs, they might just assume everyone who retires from the garda gets their memory wiped. But even so, if they're paying attention then theyll probably find it a bit odd that brendan had aged but his loving father and supportive superior officer (who are now both torturing him and wiping his memory) haven't aged at all somehow. It's such a good allegory for the story of tecteun and the other higher ups exploiting the timeless child for endless life (thus lack of ageing) then betraying them after initially posing as someone to be trusted

uhhhh pink IS my favorite color actually!! uhhh it used to be purple but now it's pink- i change ot every once in a while

anyways uhhhh the girl in my icon is my favorite kirby character!!!! her name is susie haltmann and i love her a lot. she's my favorite character ever actually ^^'

i am. going to be talking a lot and some of it might not make sense since its nearly 5am but here goes

her home game's kirby planet robobot where she's one of the primary antags!! kirby runs into her 4 times over the story and she has actual dialogue which is really cool since a lot of kirby games don't really do that. uhhh she's the secretary of the haltmann works company and she's helping lead their mechanization occupational project which is a plan to mechanize people and planets against their will which is. not good obviously. and in the end when kirby defeats the main antag star dream susie flies off to go restore the company!! but she focuses it on helping people with haltmann works co.'s instead of forcing them to become mechanized!! she did bad stuff but one of the main themes of kirby ( to me at least ) is forgiveness and redemption and susie is a pretty good example of that.

her body language is REALLY good. ( probably because outside of her eyes she can't really emote, at least not with her face ) here are some of my favorite poses from her, all from robobot :]

look at her!! she's so cute!! she's so full of life!! the way she moves contrasts the whole point of the company she works for and i think that does wonders for her design.

susie's concise with her words. VERY calculated. she thinks pretty highly of herself and she's got a bit of sass to her. she's also ( at least during robobot ) full of some terrible ideals that are shared with the president of the haltmann works company and her father. that everyone who resists is below them and most be put in their place. yeah.

AND HER BACKSTORY- okay so susie and her dad, max profitt haltmann, president of the company were working on restoring a machine called star dream, right?? and one day star dream sucks susie through a portal and spits her out in a place called another dimension, which she stays in for who knows HOW long until she finally makes it back home. but uhhh. haltmann doesn't recognize her, since star dream was feeding off haltmann's memories. so susie takes the role of secretary, likely to try and steal star dream so haltmann will stop digging a grave for himself. along the way she picks up the ideology her father / boss has and then that leads to what we see in robobot.

so yeah, shes uh. quite the sad character. but there's still a lot to be happy about with susie too!!

she loves singing, she loves ice cream, she's a pianist, she's terrible at marketing, she's got a rivalry with the mage sisters ( specifically francisca ) and i find that pretty cute all things considered. she's clever, she seems to love dressing up, she seems to genuinely enjoy kirby's company enough to consider being a star ally, she possibly makes some friends that she desperately needed. those last three were moreso inferences than canon facts but still - -'

and uh- yeah!! that covers most of my thoughts abt susie, lol. at least the canon-adjacent thoughts. susie's overall a rlly complex character who has quite a bit to talk about, lol

You then asked us to give you the banner, and you took it backstage for Machida to sign it.

Ke: Yeah, yeah.

Ku: At that time, I thought that we just have to make this anime become a success (laugh).

Ke: When I brought that banner to Machida-kun at that time, he was really happy. He signed it for me, and when I asked him to let me take a photo, he wanted to make the same pose as you drew on the banner, but then he couldn't hold the banner himself, so two other medalists were holding the banner at both ends instead.

Ku: Yeah, yeah! The medalists that were holding the banner were Mura and Kozuka-kun.

Why I am so obsessed with the relationship between Subaru Sumeragi and Seishiro Sakurazuka and draw lacho so much with reference from this dudes? The answer is cause man their relationship is mf complex 🚬

Subaru Sumeragi is the next Onmyoji in the Sumeragi clan and Seishiro Sakurazuka is the head of the Sakurazuka clan after killing his mother ( the only way to be head of that clan is killing the last leader ) . Seishiro was tasked to kill Subaru as a kid but him being the wildcard sociopath that he is and impressed by Subaru’s purity decides to play a game instead , they will meet again in the future and if he manages to have feelings for Subaru he will spare him his life .

Now here is a warning cause CLAMP just loves to pair teens with young adults sometimes ( and like this is actually more healthy than Sakura’s teacher and her friend of like 12 years old being engaged or something ) and they meet again , Subaru is 16 and Seishiro is 25 posing as a veterinarian, this is where the events of Tokyo Babylon take place which involve a lot of magic , and homoerotic moments like this.

Seishiro always tells Subaru he loves him or protects him , even loses an eye for him , and all is gay and dandy until Subaru realizes he loves him too and then Seishiro reveals himself as the head of the Sakurazuka and tries to kill him ( totally Seishiro logic)

Now I forgot to mention but Subaru has an older twin sister named Hokuto who loves Subaru dearly and makes a deal with Seishiro to take her life instead of Subaru’s , he agrees and kills her BUT before Hokuto dies she casts a spell who’s purpose is known later , during the events of X-1999, Subaru is emotionally destroyed by this cause he lost two of the most important people of his life at the same mf time

Years pass and now we are in 1999 and the apocalypse is coming , Subaru is 25 and Seishiro is 34 , Subaru returns to Tokyo to fight as a dragon of heaven ( they choose to protect humanity ) and Seishiro is chosen to be a dragon of earth ( they choose to save the earth ) , Subaru hates Seishiro and has wanted revenge against him for the death of his sister but still we got all this sexual tension

To sum things up they have their last fight and Seishiro tries to pierce Subaru’s heart with the same technique he used to kill her sister and that’s when we know what Hokuto’s spells was , she wished for her brother to not die the same way she did so , Seishiro did not in fact pierced Subaru’s heart but his own , killing himself , and this was something that Seishiro KNEW all along but still he wished to die by Subaru’s hand .

Like this is love / hate / rivalry /obsession/ sacrifice/ Subaru and Seishiro are parallels the same way as Nacho and Lalo and I just looove to mix things I love and think they match together

OH how I wish I could draw stuff for everything all my writer friends make for MEEEEE hahaha. It's a constant battle of so many ideas and so little time to draw it all. But yes I would looove to draw stuff for that one. :) I remember I'd wanted to draw Kathryn and Chakotay's lil kiss in the chair toward the end of the fic but it's a pretty complicated pose and I died trying lol.
