Hi, if you don't remember me (because it's been so long), I'm the Drarry Librarian, and sometimes I write recs and other times I invite guests onto the blog to share their favorite recs! Thank goodness we have people like this month's guest reccer, @littlewinnow who is extremely talented and creates wonderful fanart! I adore all their pieces, but especially any that involve baby Scorpius. That said, have you seen their most recent fall-inspired piece? If not, definitely go check it out!

Hello! I’m super honoured that I was given the chance to participate in Happy Hour! Thank you so much thedrarrylibrarian, you’re incredible!!

When it came to picking a fic to recommend, my mind immediately went to one of the first Drarry fics I've read, which still makes me grin silly whenever I think about it.

The Miseducation of Draco Malfoy by @magpiefngrl (37,600 words, rated E)

Zacharias Smith writes a tell-all about the D.A. Harry Potter and Draco Malfoy are not happy about it.

This fic introduced me to one of my absolute favourite Drarry tropes, Draco exploring Muggle culture! Alongside Harry who gets to watch his fascination unfold. The setting was super intriguing and I instantly became absorbed in Magpie_fngrl’s humour and fun characterizations of the boys. I was utterly charmed by their boyish antics that I bursted out laughing at every interaction.

“Potter smirked. “You like something Muggle,” he crooned and Draco made to punch him on the arm, but Potter dodged and Draco tried again, and they ended up doing a sort of dance, until Potter nodded at the irksome assistants who looked ready to intervene.”

I adored watching them become friendly, silly and sweet. I became so fond of Dracos curiosity with muggle culture that to this day I continue to reread this fic constantly for a boost of serotonin. I hope you fall for this fic like I did! I’m thankful to magpie_fngrl and all the amazing Drarry authors who’ve created impactful fics that inspired me so much to draw Drarry and be part of this fandom!

actually we're going to talk about Folie more because it makes me frickin insane that the two songs that took lyrics from to you unfinished are Coffee's For Closers and w.a.m.s. and in both cases the words are twisted to make them so incredibly painful. because to you is basically to my reading a huge love letter to the band's through all their ups and downs, "all us believers still believe every time we sing "two more weeks'," "you put my head in such a flurry," "send my love, to everyone above" etc etc etc and then not only does CFC take "preaching electric to a microphone stand" and pair it with the words I will never believe in anything again, but w.a.m.s. pulls "worry worry you put my head in such a flurry/ freckle freckle what makes you so special" from the heart of a poem about a band that is also a family and then IMMEDIATELY AFTERWARD says I'm gonna leave you, I'm gonna teach you how we're all alone. everything about the spirit of to you unfinished is flipped on its head, recontextualized and handed back poisoned. Folie is almost a breakup album and What A Catch, Donnie sounds like a farewell going into a hiatus that no one knew if they'd come off of. the way to you unfinished fits in feels almost like the same sentiment behind I Don't Care, lyrics taken and twisted around and pointed back, extra sharp, extra venomous, without concern for the harm caused. Pete going down with the ship, maybe. my love and hate for you are infinite, etc etc etc. do you get what I'm saying here?? *shaking you* do you get it?!

I’m honestly feeling pretty proud of myself. Four weeks in a row of Happy Hour! Hopefully I can keep this up!

The Real Thing by @skeptiquewrites (5,172 words, rated M)

Harry only means to cheer Draco up after a terrible breakup. He doesn't mean to fall in love.

This is a fic I love to reread. As someone who has had that experience of finding their joys again after a bad break-up, I find Draco very relatable. I appreciate Harry’s gentleness and the way he holds space for Draco and his passions in his own life. I love Draco’s caution and how they tentatively build something together.

Skeptique has a talent for careful consideration of characterizations. Each character, regardless of importance to the plot, is so well thought out in this fic. This is the only fic I think I’ve ever read with a fire brigade Ron, and even though it’s only mentioned briefly, it’s such a great career choice for him. I adore the small, protective part Ron plays in this fic. There’s a description of Hermione where it says that she considers herself “morally compromised if she didn't live out every single ideal she had” and to me, that’s it. That’s Hermione in a sentence!

I’m going to leave you with my favorite quote. It shows the depth of longing in this fic:

“Draco, I don't want you to kiss me if you're thinking about someone else."

The way that all of the anons are flirting with one another in my ask box right now is just giving me life. Today has been a bad pain day for my silly arm issue, and it has been an absolutely beautiful distraction from the agony. I am feeling like the third wheel in the absolute best way, I ship you all.

So I watched BF and NPMD for the first time back to back about a month ago, and the fact that TGWDLM uses a lot of green in its poster, title, etc but the main villain is blue and is in blue lighting while Black Friday uses blue for its poster and title but the villain is green and introduced in green light might contribute to my increasing insomnia.
