So every year, I like to do a redraw of this Marisa piece, and each year I focus on something new that I have improved on, so down here I will show (from left to right) the 2023, and 2022 versions of the same piece.

Artist's note:

So with the 2024 redraw, I focused on the colours and textures of the piece. I will admit that there are some things in the original 2022 version that I like a bit more (i.e. the colours and lighting) but overall I think I improved a lot on the pose and my colours. I feel like I've gotten more comfortable with picking different colours for my colour palettes, as before, I used to stick with one colour to dominate an entire piece. I'm still trying to figure out how to do lighting in my new art style, as I feel like that's one thing I could improve on a lot. I really like how the rendering on the lantern turned out though, so maybe I could approach rendering characters in a similar way??? IDK I'll have to figure that out.

In terms of how I drew Marisa, I gave her freckles. IDK how easily visible they are but she has them. Also, I really like the idea of Marisa putting stuff on the end of her broomstick, as in the 2022 version, I had a bunch of little charms representing the PC-98 games, and I'm sad that I still couldn't find a way to incorporate that into the redraws... ;-;

I do love the idea of Marisa putting a lantern on the end of her broomstick (that's why I love her 17.5 design sm, the lantern is a perfect detail and I love it), so that's why I put it in.

-I would say she is actually quite ticklish

-not a big fan of being tickled, it makes her feel weak.

-will attempt to fight back, but let’s be honest she doesn’t want to hurt Marissa so she would just scream with laughter instead while batting her hands

-although being a great spy, being tickled will definitely make her talk

-definitely the most annoying and teasy ler

-tickles Marissa to annoy her and it works!

-always adds snarky comments

-uses tickling to get people to talk (cannon!) or cheer up but her favourite is just because she feels like being annoying or their annoying her

-she will definitely pin

-sometimes overdose ticking and doesn’t even realise it

-pokes and prods at Marissa side when she gets annoying or to tease her

-probably comes to no surprise but he is very skilled at tickling,

-revenge and tickling people after they get on her verve’s are her favourite

-Kc knows Marissa hates being tickled, so it’s hilarious for kc to watch Marissa just burst out laughing and getting annoyed. Sweet revenge

-Can never resist laughing at her lees state afterwards

-will tease for how squirmy her Lee is

-only tickles Ernie if there having a childish argument and Ernie turns cocky

-thinks tickling people is so entertaining and funny

-people NEVER and I mean NEVER ask her for tickles, because last time they did they learned it’s not the soft tickles they were hoping for, it was kc full on wrecking them.

-the only time she ever soft tickled if Marissa is upset and needs comfort so she will start of slowly

omg yes please 😭 i don't get to talk about it enough

i don't even know where to begin so background: i started reading tarot when i was 15, and my 30th birthday is coming up, so i've been reading for what feels like fucking forever (and is literally half of my life). i'm not into predictive tarot, but i use it almost daily for a mix of self-help and introspection, and i use it a lot for writing!!

example: one of my favorite college experiences was a professor who forced us to be really creative in presenting a plan for a novel and i went to give my spiel and said, "so, this story came about when i drew two tarot cards to tell me the beginning and end of the story --" and he went, "as one does," and i said, "and the card for the end of the story was XIII Death."

another example: when i first began dreaming up So It Goes, i assigned a tarot card to each character, and i even used different decks for the visual appearance of the cards i assigned. Ali and Marisa were VIII Strength and VI The Lovers, respectively, from Modern Witch Tarot; Isaiah was 0 The Fool from the standard RWS tarot; and Henry and Paige were V The Hierophant and XI Justice, respectively, from Fifth Spirit Tarot (and Marisa was also at one point XIII Death from the same deck, but i also considered that card simply the card for the story and/or the card for Death herself). i would do it totally differently now, but the mental shortcut is SO helpful for me in the planning stages.

i also sometimes like to just.... yank out a card and use that to unblock myself. it's surprisingly useful!

So hum so far Marisa is part of the protagonist unit™ (like trickstar and alkaloid) and they're called Stardream and their theme is kinda centered about "hope" since they were actually first created to start a revolution against current ES who as i already mentioned became way more strict and put so much more work into their idols. We don't really have much details about it yet but basically ES turned pretty bad

(we dont have designs yet but i imagine Stardream outfits to be sky/clouds/stars themed idkk and their songs would be pretty soft and comforting but still motivating i think?? Idk how to explain but i imagine a mix of fine and Knights style with a bit of Trickstar energy idk idk)

And their ultimate goal is to win SS so they could get more popular and have more influence with their revolution u see

(so ye theyre kinda a lot like Trickstar...but its actually made on purpose since Stardream are actually part of someone's plan- i dare u to guess who, its one of the parents)

Andd we actually don't have much details about all that yet we only recently started building a "main story" since we were first focusing on creating characters and developing their backstory

(we're also kinda struggling to make our own SS since it changes every year (i think) so uh any ideas are welcome TvT)

I looked up tohou because u post a lot about it and omg u are so correct about the character design.. it's so beautiful and interesting and REAL and so far away from the grossness of current anime. i quickly scrolled past the fanart because i didn't want to pollute my brain with it . The official art is so good. I wish there were anime shows that had female characters like that (unfortunately i dont play games and i dont know how to so playing touhou itself isnt an option). Do u perhaps know about any shows?

IKR IKRIKRIKR the designs are Soooo fucking good amazing. Reimu & Marisa are of course iconic and there's also characters like mokou who is. my favourite design actually !! and junko ( touhou. Search Junko Touhou ) hecaita clownpiece ... reisen .. eirin kaguya youmu yuyuko yukari ( her second design ) etc etc god there's sm characters that are just absolutely perfect and amazing. ZUN thank u for being the only male artist ever

there are a few shows with good female character design however they're very rare and even then, I never loved them ( both the characters and designs) as much as I loved touhou <3

Touhou is a game series only, there's a few ( fan made !!! ) anime 'adaptations' but they're ..... ... ... .. . . ... .. . . .... . . . . there's memories of phantasm however if you're going to watch it take with like an entire spoonful of salt because it Anime fies alot of things and makes touhou. bad. and shows fanservice of the kid characters ok actually dont watch it

even if you're bad at bullet hells/shmups I reccommend playing it nonetheless, I can give u download links and how to install and everything ! it might be a bit hard at first but it's fun. the character interactions are really funny and the music is. of course. AMAZING. and the spell cards ( bullet patterns ) are beautiful albeit torturous.

alot of touhou is also on YouTube... like geniunely a whole lot of content is just videos, either Animations or PVS or canon or fan made music ( you've 100% heard atleast one touhou song in your life. at the very least. Bad apple and night of nights are touhou and you mustve heard either of them at some point. also alot of songs you might've randomly liked on YouTube are touhou without you knowing, that happened to me a LOT ) idk. it's very fun to watch the various stuff people make, the fandom is seriously exteremely talented and amazing and. god. I ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ touhou PVS so much they're so fun and silly and cute and tbh, if you've loved vocaloid and it's community before then touhou is gonna be Heaven for you. it's like an upgrade with SO MUCH CONTENT to what I loved abt the vocaloid community ( people making shit up and making exteremely beautiful music and art and stories and PVs about it, except with touhou there's the canon characterization which Expands stuff, if I'm making sense ) idk just. yes. yeah

The Content and absorption of touhou is through playing the games and seeing all sorts of beautiful, emotional, dramatic, comedic, silly and all extermely fun stuff people made based off the silly lil charas in the games. I love the community.. it's really not an anime that you watch but rather a community you have fun in honestly

Gonna be weird rn but like. I've been doing a pokemon rp with a friend since. 2022. And my friend just did smth I can't be normal, but I'm gonna add a bit of context

Since the beginning of the rp, one of my ocs, Sacha (he's a bit of an asshole but he's overall a sweet guy) is trans. Canonically only two characters are aware of that, and it's Marisa (his girlfriend, roleplayed by my friend) and Hoopa (his best friend, roleplayed by me)

Anyways. Sacha was one of the first ocs in the rp, literally, the third guy I came up with, I always put him through sm shit but he's my son. Just like Polaris.

At the beginning of the rp, Sacha was a bit antagonistic, he was a thief and annoyed ppl with Hoopa so much. Until Polaris came along. He's my friend's oc, and Polaris is a very sweet kid who loves to help people. After Hoopa got their rings stolen, Sacha traveled all across the region to get them back. He got to properly meet Polaris, and, even if they did not get along at first, they became best friends.

They've had their ups and downs. At the end of the Unova arc Polaris said he wanted to take a break, and it ended up really badly. Won't go into details, but everything was fixed

Anyways. 1 month ago, Polaris decides to leave. To go "on a break", and started to push everyone away. Sacha wasn't aware of it bc he wasn't there at the time but he was mad concerned

And we found Polaris again. Yesterday.

And she transed her gender.

And she left because she didn't know how the group would react so she tried to. Run away. And move on, because she didn't think that they'd accept her.

And like. Sacha is right there. HE'S RIGHT THERE. but Polaris doesn't KNOW Sacha is trans. But like. Omfg.

I didn't when I started which is unusual for me because I am an extremely visual person! I usually cast all my original characters before I even start writing, but it wasn't until sometime last year I found someone who matched who I had imagined in my head. Of course, anyone and everyone can cast whoever they want while reading it, but to me Olivia Carson has been "played" by actress and model Abigail Cowan, but with brown eyes (I edited it)

And since I want to procrastinate school work, here's the face claim of every original character in Wicked Games: Her parents Tess and Dan Carson are Marisa Tomei and Dean Noris. Aunt Susie isn't very different, since her and Tess are twins.
