it was only after i learned that 1. i am not alone in experiencing this feeling and 2. this can be an adhd thing, that i felt so validated in the feeling of “juggling hyperfixations”. it feels like this meme image ^ like that’s such a perfect visual to go along with what i’m about to say.

in the past i felt sooo bad when a new interest barged its way in to my brain’s Interest Room (i see my brain as a room ok, different people who are my selves and different interests come in and out!). i felt bad for classic rock of 60s-70s when homestuck decided to sit right in front of me like a pet who’s being annoying circa 2013. i feel a special hard-to-describe almost kind of STRESS? (but a very minor stress mind you) when i find myself present day, with not just two but THREE things i’m so freakin into. very strong interests. hyperfixations. i love having words now that my past self couldn’t use because we didn’t know the words existed. we didn’t know there was something “wrong”(i prefer to say there was something “different” instead 2 b less negative !)

so yeah the things i’m trying to juggle are:

doom the game and various genres of metal music (they go hand in hand, and sometimes they even collide! i have a whole youtube playlist of metal midis that would fit right in in doom wads, u can ask me for it if you like the same niche as i do!) (i listened to so much metal today it’s so great and diverse i love it so much great background music but also great Anything music <333 listen to it in a good mood or in a bad mood it’s there for you any time)

spenge bab. to relate this back to the previous point i just made above this one; i already said i’m one of those people who listens to horrible abrasive music but then is also simultaneously like “yayyy happy sea creature cartoon :D :3” like it’s so funny. u already know to the extent which i like this thing. it’s helped me get back into art (…which i don’t post to this blog; i have other spaces for this niche tbh) and when i first got into it it was there for me during a terrible time (i was having the extra big depression last year around july/august)

jerm. dear rat boy. like the point before this one, i started watching him a lot during the same extremely bad july/august 2023 time. i knew him a little before but he was another thing which i’ve (about to make up a new phrase here) special interest-bonded with, during a difficult time. sometimes when i’m actively in the bad episode, i think to myself “gee when i’m better i sure hope i can enjoy this media and not automatically associate it with a bad time D:” and YEAH! THAT DIDNT HAPPEN I CAN STILL ENJOY WATCHING HIM EVEN THO IM OUTTA THE DEPRESSION PIT FOR NOW!!! i worried this same thing about death grips when i was coping with them when i was in the pit and they happened to be my #1 fav band years ago . i still love them and can enjoy them without thinking of all the times i was in the pit !!!

so ya as you can see THESE ARE ALL VASTLY DIFFERENT AND I AM HAVING A BIT OF TROUBLE LOVING ALL THREE AT THE SAME TIME BECAUSE MY ATTENTION SPAN IS A LIL FUCKY BUT IT’S OKAY! I AM NO LONGER DOING THE POINTLESS SELF-PUNISHING FOR ENJOYING ONESELF IN LIFE BECAUSE THAT WAS THE OCD TALKING AND IS NOW UNDER CONTROL! In some of your nicotine art lud is called Antoine, which I assume is bc they're revamped as ocs for the book, but I was wondering where the name came from? In the Christmas card piece Jerm is called Jay, which makes sense cause it comes from his name, which made me think that there's a specific reason why you chose such a different name for nicotine!lud. I'm so hungry for lore,,

truthfully, it originally just came from a list of french boy names that i liked, but i grew very attached to it because it’s unique but not too outlandish. it also means “praiseworthy”, which is a fun ironic thing. i also really, really love annie as a nickname, both narratively and aesthetically. an underlying theme is jay’s constant perverse desire to emasculate and humiliate annie in the public eye so he’s never desired by anyone else, either platonically or sexually. and that includes giving him a very feminine nickname rather than calling him something like tony or toto.

~~~ Jeremy dialed Christine’s number. She had recently switched schools, which meant a long-distance relationship. (woo hoo!)

Meanwhile, Christine was having the worst day of her life. Her new school was a disaster. There was really only one classmate that was actually decent, none of the teachers listened to her ideas, and now she’s stuck in a room with nothing but her thoughts. She heard her phone ring. It was Jeremy. She started to smile. Jeremy was just the person she wanted to hear from today.

“Hey, Jeremy! What’s going on at my old school?” Though her day was terrible, she still managed to keep a positive attitude.

“Oh Christine, you missed so much! Let me tell you everything:

So Michael joined the after-school play-- well, kinda, he sells tickets, snacks, and a bunch of other stuff for students. It’s a weird change, but I am glad he sticks around for me.”

“Awh, that’s so sweet of him! Tell Mikey I said hi!” Christine plopped down on her bed. Michael and Christine were never really that close, but since Jeremy IS Michael’s BFF, it’s law that Christine, being his girlfriend, would make an attempt to get closer to him.

“Will do, sheriff! We are doing Dear Evan Hansen next, and I got Evan! The only problem is that Chloe got Zoe, and you know what happened at the Halloween Party...” Jeremy hated to bring up that horrid Halloween Party, it triggered terrible flashbacks for him.

Christine clapped, “Congratulations, darling! I’m so proud! And don’t be so worried about Chloe, after all, it’s just a show!” The two laughed.

Jeremy and Christine talked all night long, about life, about the show, about school, it was the best part of Christine’s day, so to speak.

“Argh, my battery’s really low, I gotta go darl, it’s been fun talking to you, though!” Christine’s frown was completely visible to Jeremy.

“Hey, if you ever wanna come back home, our arms are open. You can always call me whenever you’re feeling low.

Jeremy’s words struck Christine’s heart tenderly. Jeremy was such a sweet boy, she was so glad to be the one he gets to spend his life with.

Archimedes is a wedding planner and has a pet dove named Ludwig. He used to only plan weddings for politicians and celebrities, but now he's part of a charity called Big Weddings For Small Couples, which is dedicated to giving extravagant weddings for "poor people"

Chuck(lenuts) used to be a scoutmaster (don't ask how he got fired) and now he just crashes at his friends' houses. he has a pet flying squirrel he calls Jerms. also, he may or may not be being hunted down by loan sharks

Sir Louis (or Sir Hootsalot, nickname given to him by his wife) is a retired hunter and animal conservationist. he was knighted by the queen for his work in halting the hunting of endangered birds. he has a rescued owl named Michael. he also has a wife whom he hates </3

Lady Lillian (also known by her wrestler name, Snaggletooth) is a regionally famous crocodile wrestler. she and Sir Louis got married for tax reasons and for fame reasons only. she has a pet baby crocodile named Mundy who she plans on wrestling when it grows up. (also, she has legal custody over Michael >:))

Momma Kiev (nickname given to her by her grandson, Robin) is a lovely old russian lady who raises chickens. Her favorite of these chickens is Misha, the biggest and gentlest one of all of them. Her daughter recently died and her son, Robin, came into her custody.

Aristotle (changed his name to that after being insipired by Archimedes) is a retired professor. He tried to launch a wedding planning company to rival against Archimedes, but people called them out for copying the other's designs, so he shut it down. rumors are circulating that he works, no, lives with Archimedes now. their pet raven has been spotted hanging around Archimedes' mansion

Muncher is a bald eagle tamer! he makes money off of people wanting to take pictures with America's Greatest Bird! His most prized eagle is Jane, who is apparently a boy eagle! He and his friend, Bites, are in a mutualistic relationship!

Bites lives with Muncher in his ranch. Muncher gives them food and shelter, and Bites defends his bald eagles. no one's really sure where Bites comes from, if they have a job, or if they're even human.

Dean is a freelance dancer and performer! they have a lovely pet parrot named Tavish, who is the official mascot of her dance group. She loves her friends very much, but they can't hang out with them that often because she has to train for an upcoming dance contest.

Phoenix is... Phoenix. Lillian claims she's seen her burn down a church but nothing has been confirmed nor denied yet. She has a pet bird she calls Pyro

Barry is a car mechanic. that's pretty much it. he has a pug named Dell who doesnt do much, and an annoying son named Ein who manages to do even less. sometimes he has to knock some sense and humility into his friends.

They play with each other’s hair, especially Jeremy with Michael, it helps him calm down or fall asleep

Jeremy is blatantly flirting with Michael constantly, but he is clueless or too shy to make a move back

Michael daydreams a lot and gets caught in his thoughts by Jeremy, having him to snap or wave his hang in front of his hand

Michael is severely touch starved so Jeremy cups his hands on Michael’s face sometimes just to shut him up from his worrying

They make cassettes for each other and take turns listening to them at sleepovers

Michael likes to lay on top of Jeremy giving him kisses on his stomach and chest

They love 80s rock and metal

They take turns being the little and big spoon

Michael is clingy but sometimes needs his space

When Michael still lived with his dad, Jeremy would sneak in through Michael’s window at night, he was a bad influence

They have those “fights” about who loves each other more, Michael always lets Jeremy win

They do each other’s hair in the morning for work

Michael calls Jeremy: dude, Jerm, love, darling, sweetheart

Jeremy calls Michael: dude, bro, pretty boy, handsome, babe

They watch horror movies together, started because of Jeremy. Michael always gets scared to death and Jeremy laughs at him then comforts him

Jeremy always reassures Michael that he’s wonderful and isn’t anything like his father

Michael always shows his thanks to Jeremy by gently hugging him, forehead kisses, hand kisses, or shoulder kisses

Michael smiles when kissing, causing him to giggle then Jeremy does too. Usually causing them to go into a laughing fit

When one is on the couch watching tv the other loves to rest their head on the others lap, and put their arms around their waist

Michael’s accent is very watered down due to him being raised in America, but sometimes it comes out more than usual, Jeremy finds this funny or cute, teasing him about it

After the bite, Michael stayed with Jeremy in the hospital for as much as he could, bringing him flowers and such

After being scooped, Jeremy loves to tell Michael how cool he looks and that he still has the most handsome boyfriend he could ask for

They love to play Nintendo together, Jeremy always winning and Michael getting annoyed

Jeremy loves to roller-skate, he takes Michael to do it a lot, Michael is awful at it though and gets frustrated, so Jeremy always holds him up and takes his hand to guide him

They like to go stargazing, it reminds Michael of the last memories he had with his sister, bittersweet

They both stim when excited or nervous around each other
