I had the day off so I got to play dress up! Finally!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Fashionista 182 quickly becoming my new muse 💕 I wanted to use her as a "Barbie as Briar Beauty" and stick to pinks and such but anything you put on her looks incredible.
"Briar" is wearing:
Sheryl Meyer's main outfit skirt/dress and belt
Loves.Glam shoes from the Fail Fix doll line
and, the most precious item in all of my doll collection, a 1991 Disney Classics Cinderella's puffy sleeve top. I love Selkie dresses and I'm so happy I ever managed to save this top for all these years. It's older than me!
I'm still trying to get a hold of the whole doll photography thing but at least that mousepad repurposed as a doll rug was a great find!

Fail Fix Ultimate Post, final part!
2Dreami
Tumblr media
Alright, she's a weird one. The bubblegum/cotton candy rainbow theme is adorbs, for sure, but this doll originally comes with platinum blonde hair as seen here:
Tumblr media
The gimmick of this doll is you "dye" the hair yourself. I hated this so much. The end look is alright, but the dye leaves residue on your hands and is super messy. The plus side is that it washes out clean so whenever you want you can go back to platinum blonde, but I wanted to try the fishtail braid look as the box advertises. It looks alright I suppose.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Her eye-con is a heart. One of the more obvious ones to spot!
Body types:
(Warning, naked dolls!!)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
From what I can tell there's three distinct body types. I call them goddess, skinny minis, and tall babes respectively. The variety really helps them look diverse on the shelf, as some dolls are literally taller than others. Add to that that no two skin tones are the same and you get a fun lil cast of representation. I bet you any girl could find one of these dolls relatable to herself. Additionally, their sculpt is such that the torso itself is minimally changed between body types so there's no real issue with clothes fitting the other dolls.
Tumblr media
Final thoughts: I'll be honest this is the first doll line I've collected since MLP but I'm pleasantly surprised. As I've said before on my blog the fashion aspect of these dolls is lacking a bit - not sure if they put all their budget to the face and the gimmick and kinda forgot the clothes, or what. In the end I can easily see making my own clothes for them though, so it doesn't bother me too much. Excited to have these on my shelf - and eager to get more shelves so I have room for the new girls.

August 18: Bad Poetry Day
Bad poetry is like a Fail Fix A hidden raisin in your trail mix A broken glass, a stair that creaks This makeup mess on Angelique
Tumblr media
But poetry can be revised And Fail Fix comes with a surprise Just take her face off like a psycho (It’s pretty creepy, Fail Fix. Why, though?) Under that you’ll find a spare Mine turned out to be a Rare All you need is just dumb luck Except for raisins. Those just suck And in your teeth they will get stuck
Tumblr media
Bonus haiku:
I name my Fail Fix after Batwoman ladies. Fancy Angelique.

What's your opinion on Failfix dolls? How hard they are to reroot? Because they are a bit similar to Rainbow High with insert eyes but something about their faces makes them look better? Rainbow High tend to have a bit of dead stare. And they avoided looking as bad as modern Barbies with 3D printed faces, less grainy
Failfix are that unusual hard vinyl that's not quite as thick as MGAe or FR vinyl so it's sort of brittle for rerooting with not much 'grip' on the hair. They're very like Star Darlings in that way. The face paint is gorgeous, the eyes are somewhat grainy but do have the advantage of looking fine from the side unlike rainbow high who have unusual profiles. The eyebrows are cute but can make the doll appear slightly distressed from certain angles. They have a deep neckhole that i've cut out to rebody them. I think they make cute 1/6th dolls that mesh well with bratz, monster high, the hasbro disney doll type size of around 5/6" heads. But I wouldn't pay full price for the gimmick, both of mine were aliexpress factory reject heads.
ok photos, here are loves.glam on HSM/Skipper and kawaii.qtee on Bratzillaz both with kiwi additions to their not great nylon.

They photograph quite shiny if you don’t bounce the light because I think they use the new UV printing Mattel has been using.

I grabbed a #failfix doll because Walmart restocked sort of. Meet Loves.Glam! I'm not a fan of the evening looks for these dolls and I hate that you can't pick what look you get... Of course I ended up with an evening look. Do the dolls have any sort of tell to indicate what version you are getting?
The dolls are a neat concept and fully articulated, but mine has a frozen knee. A positive is that they are OMG size, the shoes fit MTM Barbie sort of and the hair is really soft after you get all of the product out of it. I'm debating if I want to try to hunt down PreppiPosh still, since she was the one I really wanted in the first place but can't find anywhere...

I made some changes to the pattern and tried it again, this time with cheaper fabric scraps like one should. I also tried a different way of finishing the armholes and neckline, I lined the pieces and then sewed the bodice together but I do not like the end result as much as what I did before with strips of fabric cut on diagonal.
I shall finish this because I am too impatient to do mock-ups if I do not get something tangible out of them.

I made a new blouse for FailFix dolls. I used sewing machine for the tucks and decorative stitching in the front but made everything else by hand as I find it easier in this tiny size. I put the closure in the back. I tried out a thicker fabric than before.

I am learning to take photos. I think she looks good in red. Now if I could manage to sew her a blouse that would fit under this dress like I planned in the beginning. Or maybe I should change my plans and make a cardigan to go over the dress.

I like this doll very much. When I saw FailFix dolls at the stores, I thought that these dolls would just have one gimmick and nothing more and was so surprised to see how interesting these dolls actually are. They have pretty faces, OK articulation, inset eyes and two body types. And the face changing feature actually is really fun.

The ultimate Fail Fix doll post!! (Part One)
(At least, on my blog!)
I'mma go through each one individually first, then discuss things like body types and overall impressions.
In no particular order:
PrettyArtee
Tumblr media
While I'm not in love with her hat I love how colorful she is!
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
I think all FailFix dolls (besides one, I'll talk about that when I get to her...) have an icon sneakily hidden in their pupil. Artee's is hard to make out but I believe it's a crescent moon and stars.
PreppiPosh
Tumblr media
If I had to pick one doll to relate to most, it's Preppi. She's a thiccer girl which is adorable, plus the glasses and I love her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Her eye-con (geddit?) looks like a ribbon? Definitely one of the harder ones to make out. I had to take many pictures with flash to even kinda maybe see it.
Loves.Glam
Tumblr media
I sense much sass from this one, and she's quickly my favorite. She comes with curlers but doesn't need too much work done on her hair.
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Her icon is a diamond because duh, glam.

Mixed feelings about Fail Fix.
I do really like that they have different body types? I didn’t realize until I had the naked to wash hair, but Loves Glam is a little curvier. There also seems to be some height variation.
But… the hair accessories/styling tools are a mess for the non-deluxe dolls. Kawaii Cutie’s little buns do work, but they look terrible. The other 2 just do not work. I’ll have to style them the hard way.
Kawaii Cutie also comes across as a bit of a stereotype. Very mixed feelings on her.
Tumblr media
Anyway, this is Angelique.
