in the studio, chan and the staff were busy creating the music tracks for their new album “HOP”. They’re deep into the recording process for “U (FT. TABLO),” working together to fine-tune every detail of the track. The studio is a flurry of focused energy as the team collaborates, running through the song’s layers and adjusting elements to perfect the sound. Each take is met with feedback, fine adjustments, and a shared commitment to bringing the song to its full potential, with their lovely leader at the helm, ensuring everything aligns with the vision he has for the track.

In the recording booth, the talented puppy sang his parts of the track, nailing each note on time. eventually seungmin came to the verse “All i want is U” and struggled to get the right tone and pitch.

seungmin: “hyungggg, i can’t do it! it’s too difficult!”

minnie groaned because he wanted his lines to be to perfect and bang on right. it was difficult as the verse was so low, not his the way how he usually sings. His hyung tried his best to encourage the younger to try his best.

Channie: “don’t worry minnie, you’re doing great, just try to sing it more with a calmer tone and add try to bend where it says “..is U.”

After numerous tries the vocalist just couldn’t get it correctly how he wanted it to be. He felt a prick of tear trying to escape his eye. Why can’t i do it correctly? he thought to himself. Seungmin walked out of the recording booth and stood at the coffee table overviewing his lines on the paper he analyzed earlier.

Staff: “i think why you are going wrong is because when you get to the part of “..is U”, you keep forgetting to bend it which is making it more difficult to maintain without it sounding off pitch.”

The puppies eyes lit up with realization as he had been struggling this whole time due to one little error that he could simply correct. Minnie gets a tiny bit embarrassed and covers his face smiling into his hands. The elder starting laughing at his cuteness and pulled him onto his lap hugging his waist.

Chan: “See, what did i tell you? I told you to bend the last 2 words you dummy!”

The wolf playfully and mischievously pulls minnie into a ticklish hug. Seungmin bursts into laughter, squirming as he tries to wiggle free, his face lighting up with amusement. Bang Chan grins, his voice light and teasing: “I told you so,”

he says with a playful tone, continuing to gently poke at Seungmin’s sides, knowing exactly where to target to make him laugh uncontrollably. Seungmin laughs harder, protesting between breaths,

Seungmin: "Nohohohoho! This is sohohohoho unfahahahair"

He tries to push Bang Chan’s hands away, but his efforts are futile, his laughter only growing louder as he squirms more.

Seungmin: “Plehehehease, it’s sohoho bad! I’ll kill yohohohou"

The vocalist manages to say, still caught in the playful onslaught. Bang Chan chuckles, his hold on him tightening just a little.

Chan: “I’d like to see you try,”

he teases, clearly enjoying the moment of lighthearted mischief. Seungmin, unable to stop laughing, gives up, letting himself relax in the embrace, his cheeks flushed with the joy of the moment. The staff laugh finding the scene between the 2 cute. Unexpectedly, seungmin felt another pair of hands softly raise his arms above his head with one hand holding then in place whilst another crawled its way to his underarms.

Seungmin: “yahahahaha! Stohohop it! Let gohoHOHAHAHA!”-

the singers laughter increased to soft giggles and bubbly gasps. The poor guy couldn’t handle 2 of his weakest spots be attacked at the same time.

Chan: “Hah, jackpot puppy! Are you gonna listen to me next time or do you want this to happen again?

Seungmin: “PLEHEHEHEASE, I CAHAHAN’T TAKE IT! MOVE SPOHOHOHTS LR STAHSHAOH HYUNG!”

after another 2 torturous minutes of ticklish agony, chan and his mystery helper let minnie off for now. He was still softly giggling trying to regain his breath with his head resting in channie’s neck.

chan: “will you listen next time?”

seungmin: (muttering softly and fast) “noilikeditalothyungbutitsembarrassing..”

chan began to gently trace his neck and collarbones again with eyes twinkling at the puppy.

chan: “awww, your so cute”

seungmin doesn’t fight back and just lets him do it, as he giggles, he looks up to the ceiling and sees a glimpse of black long flowing hair quickly shoot back.

seungmin: “wahahahait! jinnie hyung! did you hold my arms uhuhuhup?”

the mysterious helper has now been discovered

hyunjin: “sorry i had no choice, you needed to be taught a lesson”

seungmin: “maybe you need to be taught one later as well..”

Min gave his hyung a cute cheeky smirk. Hyunjin knew he was in for a ride later tonight

The Art of War: I've been DYING to do SOMETHING with Apollo (Favorite Son™) and Ares (Failure Son™) and I have 3 whole scenes in different points of time now!!!

First is when Apollo's young and new on Olympus. He's been shoved onto Ares for the time being because in Ancient Greece, boys were raised by their fathers and girls by their mothers, and when the father was unavailable, it was the eldest brother's job to watch his younger brothers.

Second scene is during/post Ares's kidnapping by the giants! Some Apollo angst, Zeus being the best dad ever (not), and Ares not having a good time.

hello! you got me hooked on ur werewolf wolfwood & i was wondering, brought on from the prev anon, would wolfwood struggle with his own scent as well? considering man had at least two major revisions done to his body, would his werewolfisms play deeper into his disconnect with his body not just psychologically but physically as well (ex: feels like his scent is Off or Wrong. his fur isnt even in texture - a mixture of pup fluff, adult coat, and some sort of planty feels. and more)? sorry totally cool if u dont wanna answer this dhsb im just fascinated and really love exploring the other vague parts with characters. gnawing on ww like a bone rn. hes such a guy. thank you for sharing your art btw!!! i really enjoy it :)

Okay it'll be easier to list out what's already wrong with him rn in this au so that causal onlookers can be caught up to speed and I can actually see what I'm making myself deal with. Fair warning it's very convoluted.

Alright so reminder that in this Wolfwood is dead for a little over a year, gets revived and has his body 3D printed by a tree for like two more before crawling his way out of his own grave. It takes a year and a half after that before he goes full wolf mode.

Currently since I'm working on the 3rd part rn w/ the Nick and Zazie comic, he's around 2 months in. On the werewolf side of things, not too much has changed other than hair growth and sharp nails and slightly heighten sense.

On him alone he still has his strength, and while he doesn't got broken ass regeneration like LR (lol) he's got something good.

Okay with that laid out. His own scent would probably gnaw at him a bit—but between that and the hyperawarness that he's a literal dead man walking w/ a mind that's lacking a few details and faces, and a body that he's not even sure is fully comprised of the same meat he was buried with—the different scent is just another thing on the list of his to not think too much about if he can avoid it.

How he treats the early signs of change is either ignoring it and/or doing things to make them less noticeable to himself. For the scent thing specifically, if it's not suppressed by him regaining his nicotine addiction, he'd probably wear a cologne or perfume that masks it well enough and gives him the least amount of headaches.

I'm starting with the simplest one lalallala. last ride. also known as just remember this is your last ride . also known as lr . also known as the result of my obsession with infections

the main premise of this one is basically "What if Subspace fucked up really badly one day with his experiments and started the apocalypse". i would like to also state I SUCK at coherent thoughts so this is all just thought mumbo jumbo

most of the actual story would follow vine staff shuri and boombox with swapping perspectives to the church of the true eye or whatever that thang was called (havent touched phighting in a LOOONG while)

slingshot was also part of this but he never makes it to crossroad and winds up infected

which. speaking of; the actual infection started after subspace sought out something to rid himself of his rotting bones, in the form of some sorts of strengthening serum. and as we all expect it goes terribly wrong (mostly due to lacking experience in the field, which I hc is why he has the rot. fucked up waay earlier with messing around lmao) and winds up causing supernatural strength at the cost of constant hunger

because I am a nerd I will go on to explain some anatomy headcanons. I like to think that demons(inphernals? whatever they're called now) do not require nutrition to grow for some odd reason. they very very rarely have to eat . HOWEVER; the infection/disease requires a lot of extra substance that they cannot produce naturally on their own, thus triggering hunger previously unknown to the species (p.s it also makes younger demons grow up WAY faster!)

anywho. subspace fucks around and finds out with trying this on biografts, and the thing, naturally being a machine made of artificial flesh and created as a war machine, winds up breaking out after being given way more strength than it ever had. Disaster ensues, blackrock goes into lockdown, blah blah blah

I haven't cooked up much beyond this part tbh but in case you're curious, subspace's a centipede, medkit's a wolf spider, boombox's a canary (something something hc something), vine staff is a dove iirc? or a honey bee? shuriken's a shrike, slingshot's a leopard, traffic's a lemur, i think ghosdeeri was some sorts of firefly? iirc???? sword was a... crow

very foggy memories on this au this is all very very old. also the infection makes demons basically return to their animal instincts

Her favorite outfit or friend ? Lastly is Avra still fooled by Gene and goes into the Nether with him to save Kiva/wolf pup ?

Avra does keep her wolves! I’ve been considering renaming them, maybe after in-universe mythology (Something something Origins…) but she keeps them! I’ve been considering changing Celeste into a bear tho, just bc I love Bears and Avra togethrr… but she keeps her main wolfies

I’ve been trying to figure out how she obtains them… Thorgi is found in the forest, she patches him up and keeps him and that’s how she gets her first dog. As for the others, I’m thinking that she finds their mother wounded and guarding her freshly-born litter, and Avra makes a bit of a hard choice to sacrifice the already dying mother in order to save the pups. And then a sort of blood-bond forms from that. Which is why her wolves each have their more… fantastical attributes (mount dog, hell hound, etc) because they’re bound to a magical entity lol.

Technically, Avra has a few scars. Her markings are scars, and stretchmarks are technically a form of scar. But most wounds don’t leave permanent marks on her unless they’re severe. And so, as of the beginning of LR, she doesn’t have any but those her body naturally has. But I’m wanting to give her a few over the course of the rewrite. Bc I love scarred women.

I try to steer away from using terms like ‘spirit animal’ due to the cultural connotations, but I get what you mean. If I were to pick an animal I think ties deeply into her as a character/person? I want to say a lamb. My username refers to her as ‘the Martyr’ for a reason. That, or a bear. Bears are ‘protector’ type creatures, fierce and forest-dwelling. The kind to skin their prey alive as they eat them, not out of cruelty but simply because they do not see the need to kill what they have already caught.

As for Zodiac, I know she’s technically a Libra because she is based off of Aph, who has the same birthday as Jess, who is a Libra (iirc??). I do feel like Virgo fits a teeny bit better, but I’m not perfect with astrology signs. So I’m probably a bit off

As for Avra’s favourite outfits, she prefers something a bit… more airy. Whether it’s just because it shows more skin, or because it’s looser, she doesn’t like feeling suffocated. She will wear a billowy shirt and harem pants all day every day, if she can, and modesty isn’t really something she worries about. She likes jewellery, obviously, whether it’s gold and gems, or wooden beads and leather straps. She likes to accessorise. I can’t say she has a specific favourite outfit, mostly just because her outfits get ripped too quickly for her to grow overly attached to any.

For friends, it does change over time who her favourites are. Zenix was at first a very high ranker - he was one of the first in the village to be nice to her, surprisingly, and quickly became one of her most devout (even in canon, he was one of the most adamant about her being lord). That did change once the betrayal happened, of course. And eventually her favourite friend was Dante, since they had a very close bond and were around eachother a lot, it just made sense to be eachother’s number one, you know? And then… the 15 years happened…

When it comes to rebirth storyline inclusion, I do always have some room for it, but I am… hesitant. I do want to include this, as I want to include the Old Lord House Bonking in some form, though I know the actually OLHB scene would probably not quite work for what I’m doing. The intention is to make Avra cautious, to make it clear that she’s not invulnerable, that there are *threats*. And the encounter with Gene would be a good way to make her cautious of future companions, in the same way the Old lord house scene makes her cautious to always wear her helmet. But when it comes to actually writing it, I might find it doesn’t *quite* work, and it might be cut, so I really can’t promise anything until it happens.

The female gaze: Discussing the filming of Hustlers with cinematographer Todd Banhazl

Hustlers is a highly-anticipated new film about a group of strippers who plan to take their power back as they hustle the wealthy men of Wall Street men during the late-2000s financial crisis. The movie is based on the 2015 New York magazine article,The Hustlers at Scores, by Jessica Pressler. It is being directed and written by Lorene Scafaria and contains an all-star cast of actresses including Jennifer Lopez, Constance Wu, Julia Stiles, Keke Palmer, Lili Reinhart, Lizzo, and Cardi B.

When you think about a movie starring strippers, it’s easy to point out many in the past that have exploited their female characters through sexual means, often with violence included. We had the chance to speak with Hustlers‘ cinematographer, Todd Banhazl about how his vision for the film involved giving their power back to them and not utilizing male gaze-y camera techniques.

We also discuss his previous work with artists like Janelle Monae and how Hustlers is a crazy cross between Clueless and Wolf of Wall Street.

Hidden Remote: What initially intrigued you about Hustlers? Todd Banhazl: What initially intrigued me about the project is exactly what is in the trailer. I wanted to see women who are strippers in roles of power. It’s good to see a movie that treats them like they are bad*sses and a movie where we can love the criminals.

HR: When you first approached the film, did you already have an idea in mind of how you wanted it to look on-camera? TB: When I first met with Lorene, the director, I had ideas about wanting to shoot the movie in ways we usually shoot men. I wanted to make a crime epic. I think Lorene had similar ideas, so we connected immediately on that. From there, we built the rest together.

HR: I’ve seen people saying this movie is like Wolf of Wall Street but from a female perspective, would you say that’s accurate? TB: Yes, I think that’s accurate. I think Wolf of Wall Street was a benchmark for us.

HR: We don’t typically see stories about strippers from their point-of-view. How did you guys ensure the camera work wasn’t exploitative or too male gaze-y? TB: We talked a lot about how to shoot the film from the position of the female gaze. We also talked about the idea that what they’re doing is physically intense activity. We talked about shooting them like they are athletes. We looked at sports movies for references more than other strip club movies.We wanted them to look like gladiators stepping out into the colosseum. I also think that telling the story truthfully, giving the women the room to make mistakes and be fully rendered people is the way to show women like this in a different light. It gives them the same kind of respect that we offer to any character.

HR: You said some sports movies inspired you, were there any other female-centric stories you looked to while filming? TB: We talked about the movie, Clueless. We wanted to make a female friendship movie, a film that a 14-year-old girl would claim as her favorite. We said we wanted Wolf of Wall Street meets Clueless and if we can do that we’ve done right.

HR: I know that many of the stunts they do are pretty intense. We saw some of that in the trailer. Did the actresses have to train intensely for the roles?TB: Yes, they all trained for the film. They all took classes. I think JLo had a pole installed in her home to do training. I mean the stuff they’re doing in the movie is so physical and so incredible.

HR: I’m excited to see more of it. I was impressed by the brief tease of stunts from the trailer. TB: That’s how we felt while shooting it. There is a scene in the movie where Jen does a big strip scene, and she blew everyone away with her strength and power. It’s tough to be up on that pole.

HR: Were you mindful of making sure you passed the Bechdel test?   TB: You know, honestly, I think the Bechdel test was passed in the early stages. It was never an issue for us because that’s just what the movie is. It’s about women who want things other than men. That’s the real power of Hustlers. We’re not trying to pass the Bechdel test. It’s just a work that exists in that space.

HR: Right, I think the Bechdel test is the bottom rung of the ladder. It’s the easiest one to pass. It’s great to hear you guys didn’t even have to think about it TB: I think you’re so right. We didn’t set out to make a feminist movie. We just wanted to create characters that we love. I think that’s maybe the most revolutionary thing you can do in this current state is to tell stories about characters you love who happen to be women. It’s a huge deal, which is sad that we’re at that place. It’s a movie about female strippers who take their power back, which is a unique thing but that’s why it’s so exciting too

HR: I know you worked with Janelle Monae in the past, and you’ve done some fashion work. Did that help inform your vision on Hustlers? TB: Yes, I spent a lot of time thinking about ways to photograph women in ways that empower them. I wanted to show people in their element and not negate sexual power but honor it. I think of shooting Janelle Monae, who is so incredible and so creative, as was training grounds for the way we wanted to do Hustlers visually.

HR: If you could choose the main message or emotion you wanted your audience to walk away from after seeing this movie, what would it be? TB: I would hope that people love these characters and love the friendship. I hope they leave the movie having had a great time and also having fallen in love with the characters like you would with any other film.
