You know what's been annoying me ever since I first read acotar? People don't appreciate Lucien enough. Not just in a sense that he's intelligent, and obviously good looking, and goddamn sassy and fun to be around if he's not currently depressed.

He's brave. He was the only one to stand up to Amarantha during her terror reign. He was the only one that didn't back down, while Ricebag took to his methods and everyone else just caved, LUCIEN MFING VANSERRA stood his ground. What did it get him? He lost an eye, and has people making fun of him. This is not talked about enough.

How I feel about her:

Bae

I love her, your honor. She's everything. But to be entirely serious she's such a fascinating character (both in the comics and in the show) because she's read, heard and collected every story ever known. Like she's a full on amalgamation of them. Dream trusts her with so much, like looking after his realm, it's such a testament to her character. That being said, she's not defined by her relationships to other characters, and still manages to get her own foothold and standing. She's incomprehensibly old and wise and it shows, but she's achieved an existence and job that she's earned (by being dreams raven) loves, and is incredibly good at.

Who I ship her with:

While I do see Lucienne as someone who would be perfectly content without a romantic relationship, I love Lucid Dreaming (Morphienne). It's just so poetic, a character who knows all the stories, and a character who IS all the stories. That aspect of them would be so beautiful to explore. That being said, Lucienne and Calliope, again for the nature of their roles and jobs.

Non-Romantic otp:

Again, Lucienne and Calliope, or Lucienne and Merv, or, again, Lucienne and Dream.

Unpopular opinion:

While I love Dream and Lucienne's relationship, she doesn't just exist to be exasperated by him and make quips in the background. With her standing in the Sandman universe, shes extremely powerful, and deserves more respect than just his lackey. Not sure if that's super unpopular but I've read fics and meta that's just pushing her into that box.

What I wish had happened in canon:

In The Kindly Ones story arc, there's a scene where Lucienne (Lucien in the comics, so I'll use he/him pronouns) explains that Morpheus' prisoners escaped about an hour prior. He says some made it into the library, and that he dealt with them. I wish there was a scene with him dealing with them, because the way he said it was badass.

It somehow only now appeared to me... that were Feyre to stay with Tamlin, she would have been expected to participate in the Calanmai rite. Year after year. And I think I might throw up.

That's absolutely VILE. I'm sure Tamlin being the cunt he is and not caring about the autonomy of the people around him would be like "if you don't wanna do it bae we can always get Lucien to do it" and Feyre being who she is would take one look at poor Lucien and do it just so he wouldn't have to.

And can someone remind me, when Tamlin has to screw someone on Calanmai, is it public? Do the party goers get to like.. watch? That's so nasty to me.

And I just know that some anti is gonna see the Feylin Calanmai criticisms and be like "Well what about her and Rhys in the CoN or in the tent after a battle or in the sky?" when these things are just so not comparable.

Every single year having to have like... rough animalistic sex with Tamlin where he has no self control and wouldn't even be able to stop himself if he wanted and her basically being forced to do it otherwise her partner would either have sex with someone else or she'd have to force someone she considers a dear friend to do it . Like that's so disgusting. Her getting a little damp with Rhys in the CoN when the two of them are literally sensually caressing each other is not the same as everyone in the spring court watching or at least knowing that Tamlin had sex with her like an animal.

Like when her and Rhys play a little rougher they've always at least briefly talked about it before and it's never been expected, but every year she would be expected to have that kind of sex with Tamlin on the same day for a purpose other than her own pleasure.
