Look, I want the party to be the wedding as much as the next person, but all I’m saying is that it would honestly be kind of hilarious if we as the fans watched the trailer, saw Pete with a ring and a party scene, decided Lucius and Pete were getting married, and then both those scenes wind up being totally and completely unrelated to the two of them getting engaged 😂

Chapter 5: Let’s Drop A Pin In This

“You were going to stab me to make me stop talking to you! And now you stab someone else for talking to me!”

“I’d stab you too,” said Ed truculently. “Only he took my knife with him, so.”

Stede threw his hands up in despair. “God knows I am new to this, but don’t you think you’re overreacting maybe a little?”

“Well, I don’t know, do I?” Ed shot back. “You think I like having all these feelings? Can’t even stab a guy now without people reading too much into it. Fuck!”

Stede Bonnet's agenda for attending the International Piracy Convention: rebrand, make some industry contacts, steal back his ship without being murdered by the keynote speaker, a.k.a. the vengeful love of his life.

I’ve seen some posts about how unfair it is that Izzy/Lucius is popular when Lucius/Pete is canon, and with how awesome Pete is etc. I totally get being irritated or upset about that. 

I am here to say though, that while Lucius/Pete is indeed canon, and while it is a lovely ship, it’s still obvious why more people flock to Izzy/Lucius. As a polyamorist for the past 13 years, I can tell you that very little is as boring as a healthy polyamorous relationship. From the outside of course. It’s not boring on the inside. Inside, you talk out your needs and establish healthy boundaries and have loving metamours (or not, up to you how close you wanna be with your metamours). But like, it’s low on drama. And you know what’s high on drama, and therefore way more fun to think/write about? 

Izzy/Lucius.

Izzy/Lucius as a ship is fraught with themes of repressed sexual orientation, D/s/BDSM dynamics, hate fucking, sexual tension, aggression, internalized homophobia and just a tasty, tasty enemies to lovers situation that makes me yearn to write about it.

Pete? He whittled Lucius a finger, and tells him how much he means to Pete, and calls him Babe.

Pete is lovely. He’s hot. He’s funny. He and Lucius are an awesome ship and an adorable couple. But there’s not a lot of drama there. So that ship won’t be as popular. Kind of like Mike/Alison from Ghosts. They’re amazing to write about, but not known for inspiring scorching sex scenes as often as say Robin/Julian. 

So in defense of Izzy/Lucius shippers I say, how about Izzy/Lucius/Pete?

Can we, possibly, get a scene with the same energy as the marriage sequence in At Worlds End in future seasons of OFMD?

I'm not picky, it doesn't even have to be Ed and Stede.

Give me Jim and Oluwande telling each other, "I've always loved you" as they run across a beach to reach the crew in time.

Give me Lucius and Pete screaming, "Will you marry me" at the same time as they clumsily fight off some English Navy men.

But, if it is Ed and Stede, I think it should be at the very end and echo an important season one (1) interaction.

In a moment eerily reminiscent to the Foot Touch scene. As an echo of The Kiss on a beach. Or, a horrible reenactment of their first meeting.

I want Stede to look at Blackbeard, at Edward, and whisper, "Will you marry me?"

Because Stede always thought that when he married, it would be for love.

Pete and Lucius' anniversary is coming up, and Pete really wants to get something Lucius will love. Maybe the boardwalk their captain insisted they spend the day at will have something for him.
