revisiting the balance finale and I am completely fascinated by davenport immediately concluding that they need to leave on the starblaster and continue to the next cycle. that’s so wild. it asks you to confront the fact that, even though the stolen century was only a few episodes, it covers 100 times more time than the rest of the podcast. davenport is ready for these last ten years to be just an incident in a long list of incidents. he’s ready for another 100 years, however long it takes to figure out a better plan. the fact that it could bring lup back! the fact that if lucretia won’t agree, it’s better to kill her and talk about it next cycle if need be! the fact that none of them could stay even if they wanted to. the fact that davenport of all of them is the most willing to let the world burn. would he have waited to try and get the light from lucretia? would taako? imagine what the first moments of them reforming in a new planar system would be. holy istus i can’t stop thinking about it.

Hey Taz Balance fans how do we feel about Lucretia striving to choose lives for her friends that she thought they could find joy and peace in (the beach with family for Merle, Raven's Roost for Magnus, a whole traveling cooking show for Taako) and checking up on them to see them safe and happy and using that as her only rock in her lonely and doomed mission to recover the relics, only to watch all three of their lives fall apart (Merle's lovless marriage + running out on his family, Governor Kalen destroying Raven's Roost and killing the love of Magnus's life and his father in law, the poisoning in Glamor Springs that led to Taako believing he'd killed 40 people and having to abandon his dream job). How de we feel about that gang.

I love Lucretia as a character because you first meet her and she’s in her mid-50s and she’s so funny and cool and you’re like wow... milf...

and then you learn that she actually lost 20 years of her life in a moment in wonderland, so she’s really a lot younger than she looks

and then you learn that she was stuck at the same age for 100 years, so she’s really a lot older than she looks... and you’re like wow... milf...

okay so I know we only have two data points (Magnus and Barry), but what if all the human last names on the IPRE homeworld were actually a little silly. like in d&d lore it's usually gnomes that are supposed to be the silly ones, but what if humans got to be the silly ones on the two-sunned planet. as a treat. what if it was actually pretty common for human last names in general, not just Bluejeans or Burnsides, to take the form of "[silly adjective or verb] + [silly plural noun]" in a sort of portmanteau, that also has a ring to it as a conjoined phrase

are you still with me? do you follow? okay, good. I would now like to pitch to you that Lucretia's last name, canonically, could very plausibly be Adventurezones

I love the implications of the seven birds being from a more technologically advanced world than faerun (knowledge of TV, understanding of machine guns "count the shells", using microphones ect) because how many things was Lucretia not able to erase? Across 99 planes, it's impossible that she managed to get everything. And how well was she really able to introduce the more medieval concepts of faerun into their memories?

What did the THB think everyone was doing just waving swords around rather than pulling out guns; did they just accept it and move on? Imagine Lucretia trying to explain them to a weapons development department of the BoB to equip her employees. Lucretia, a records keeper, who cannot have a great understanding of the inner workings of firearms. Vaguely describing rectangles that explode to a reception of horrified looks.

Or Taako repeatedly asking Sazed to supply him with various kitchen utensils he insists are vital for the recipe that just Do Not Exist. Magnus, complaining that he can't play little games on his stone of farspeech, while everyone around is completely baffled at the concept. Everyone around them not only not getting their pop culture references, but being fundamentally incapable of understanding them.

I just think there is something so funny about them functionally time travelling and then promptly forgetting they were from a different era at all. And just. Having to get on with it.

headcanon that Merle carries around little notecards as a memory aide with scribbled notes and names of spells that he's able to use.

sometimes (oftentimes) he drops some of them which explains why he just does not remember he can cast certain spells fairly often, and sometimes (...oftentimes) Taako and Magnus et al. slip extras into his stack which explains why he occasionally tries to cast spells that he's unable to use
