Arcade
Pairing: Lucy Boynton x Reader
Words: 1,119
Warnings: allusions to sex but theres nothing explicit in this one.
A/N: This is the first of 5 lil blurby things i’ll be posting over the next 5 days lmao. A couple of them are more festive, but I thought we’d start with a non-christmasy one. Also I didn’t really edit any of these much so, ignore any mistakes you notice please and thank you. Anyway, this one came about because an arcade opened near me and it’s very very fun.
“I haven’t been to an arcade in years,” Lucy laughed, standing outside it with you, “Are we even allowed?” “What do you mean are we allowed? Of course we are.” “Oh, so I’m not here because you’re worried about getting in trouble and wanted backup?” “Of course not.” You said, quickly grabbing her hand, “C’mon.” The new arcade had opened not two blocks from Lucy’s London flat and you’d been dying to go inside, especially after you’d seen some kid leave with a giant squishmallow. But you didn’t want to go there alone. Being the only non-staff member adult in the building would be much less embarrassing if you had company. And since Lucy claimed to love you, she seemed the ideal person to drag along.
When you finally got through the door though, you saw more adults than you’d expected to. There were kids, of course, tweens and teens gathered around certain games. But there was definitely at least a comparable number of adults and only a few seemed to be parents.   “See, we’re allowed,” you said as if you’d known there’d be that many adults all along. Lucy hummed and poked your side, “well let’s go play something then.” You both looked around, taking in the flashing lights and the cacophony of sounds, not sure where to begin. “Oh look, it’s that dancing game!” Lucy was already sounding more excited than a few seconds before, “I’ve always wanted to try that one.” “I definitely want to see that, but I think we need a card first. See, none of these ones have coin slots,” you pointed at a row of claw machines, each of which had a little card reader attatched to the front. “Very modern,” Lucy giggled, “I s’pose the guy at the counter can help us out.”
A few minutes later the very helpful man had set each of you up with your own cards and had explained, perhaps in greater detail than you’d needed, the membership tiers and how to cash in points. Lucy wanted to head straight to Dance Dance Revolution but it was occupied by a couple who were intimidatingly good. So you decided to do a little lap of the place first, try a few other games, until they’d left. And there was a lot to try. Classics like skee ball, whack a mole (though it too had been given a modern look, the moles now pigs from Angry Birds), and pinball machines. And there were things you’d never played before – a game aimed at kids where you sprayed water at a screen to defeat the fishy enemies, one where you threw Ping-Pong balls at little white squares to change their colour, and a taiko drumming rhythm game that was more fun than you’d expected. The couple still weren’t done by the time you’d looped back round to the front of the shops so you and Lucy decided to check out the claw machines, even though you were sure they’d be completely unwinnable.
“They’re so adorable,” Lucy said, her hands against the glass of one of the claw machines, looking at the cute toys inside, “I’m gonna try and win one.”   “Even though it’s probably rigged?” “Well one try can’t hurt.” she shooed you out of her way, tapping her card. You watched as she moved the stick forward, letting go as she tried to see if it was lined up, and then pressed it forward again. “Oh shit.” she said softly, directing the claw to the right. When she let go of the stick a light flashed a couple of times and the claw dropped, grabbing nothing, “you can only move it forward once and sideways once. That’s it. Okay I have to try again because I didn’t realise.” You laughed to yourself, sure you were seeing Lucy’s competitive side rearing its head.   Once again she tapped her card and moved the claw, much more successfully. She still didn’t win anything but she was only a little off the one she wanted and she managed to hook the one next to it for a couple of second.   You left her to it, moving instead to a comparatively easy game where you scooped chocolates up onto a platform, hoping they’d be knocked into the chute so you could grab them. Every so often you’d hear Lucy groan or huff as she failed to get the toy. Finally she came and dropped into the seat beside yours. “I’m out of money on my card.” “No luck?” “I almost had it!” “I told you the machine was rigged.” “No, I’m sure it’s winnable.” “Do you want me to try?” You looked over to see her batting her eyes at you, “yes please.” “Oh alright.” It was impossible to say no to a face like that so you stood and took her place at the controls. “You want the pink one right?” “Mmhmm. Remember, you can only move it each way once.” “I know, I know.” You leaned over and tapped your card.
It took more tries than you would be willing to admit to anyone other than Lucy but the more you played the more confident you became, certain you understood the machine better, that you could line it up better. Twice you managed to pick it up but watched it fall before the claw had fully risen.  And then finally you managed to snag it comfortably, the claw’s grip secure around the middle of the toy. Both of you held your breath as it swung through the air and fell into the chute.   Lucy squealed as loud as any kid in the place, “You got it!” You bent over and picked it up, taking a moment to look into the face of the toy that had cost so much money. It was cute, Lucy had been right about that. You recognised it as one of the other animals in the Hello Kitty lineup, though you weren’t sure of its name. “For you,” you said with a smile, holding it out for Lucy.   She was giggling as she took it, “I’ve never had a partner win me a toy at an arcade before.” “I've never won a partner a toy before. I think this might be one of my greatest ever accomplishments.” Lucy nodded, “I’d say I’d win you one back, but I think we both know you’re better at these machines than me. But I can thank you in other ways...” “Mmm? Like what?” you leant in closer and drew your finger along her arm. “Like letting you beat me at the dancing game.”   Before you knew what was happening Lucy was pulling you back towards the centre of the arcade, laughing.

Rewind (Lucy Boynton x Reader Fic)
Tumblr media
Pairing: Lucy Boynton x Reader (modern university time frame)
Word Count: 1.5K
Summary: Despite your pre-existing judgement, you find yourself being pulled towards your new neighbor.
AN: Hi!! This is my first fic ever and I plan for it to be a multi-chapter one! This first part is just more of an expose of reader and lucy’s relationship, you’ll see more of their dynamic (and angst 😈) in the next chapter 🥂I’m baby and a beginner so please let me know your thoughts and ways to improve!
~~~~*~~~~
Coming back home from the first year of uni was like entering the real world after 12 years of solitary confinement. Fresh food from a stove rather than a water heated metal dish. A plush queen bed with natural daylight from your room to prick your eyelids rather than the squeaky twin size mattress that you find yourself waking on top of after the boys down the hall set off the smoke alarms for vaping. Again…
Perhaps the only con to coming back home was all the old retired foggies that surround you. It was refreshing but lonesome after living among the hoards of young adults that don’t know what to do with their lives. Not to mind though, it was sound sleeping for you without any loud music.
“Y/N!” Your mother calls from downstairs.
“Y/N!”
With the exception of your mother.
You roll off your bed. Glancing in the glass reflection of a picture frame, you don’t look too hot. Your skin greasy from sleep and the acne creams that you applied the night before.
“What mum?” You drawled as you plopped down the stairs, sitting on the last step
“Look! The new family who bought the house is moving in. They hauled three bookcases out the truck already.”
Out of the passenger side of the truck popped out a girl with mid length brownish hair. Her frame quickly ducking out of view so she could enter the house.
Your mother continues“She seems like your age, you think she’s from your university?”
You peer again trying to get a glimpse. Her hair now tied sloppily in a bun as she picks up one of the boxes. You peer down to see an all girls college shirt covering her whole frame. Mary Scott University.
It may have been just your own prejudice or your jealousy of someone so effortlessly beautiful but you didn’t see any hope in the new girl on the street.
“Jesus Christ” you glance at your mom
“What?”
“She goes to that all girls school—“
“It’s not a bad school Y/N, your dad’s cousin went there-“
“And look where she ended up! She dropped out of dentistry school and is making jewelry for a living!”
“Y/N, don’t judge people so quickly, how do you even make friends in school?”
Annoyed, you bulged your eyes out. In a normal school not an all girls school where they wait til marriage for someone to sexually awaken them.. you thought.
You take one last look at the new movers and retreat to your bedroom. Under the covers you can only find yourself thinking about the new girl.
~~~~*~~~~
The next day your mom calls you down again with more gusto and a sweeter tone.
Interesting… Only until you can hear an unfamiliar voice downstairs you assume there could be some visitors.
“Yeah, hold on!” You yell out as you try to fix your appearance. You tie your hair up and pull down your night shorts from under your large shirt.
You walk across the catwalk to see below your mom talking to the new girl on the front porch.
She was dressed in a racer back tank top and athletic shorts with a tennis racket bag strapped to one shoulder.
Shit shit shit shit shit!
Your first impression isn’t gonna be strong or even on the same level of confidence that she exudes. Her sweet smile shows off her pristine white teeth. Damn, when was the last time you did a whitening strip?
Her gaze finds yours and you start to feel your hands clam up a little.
Her bright eyes beam and cheeks lift up . “Hi! I’m Lucy!” she says with a small wave
Your lingering gaze on the way her top hugs her waist is cut short from your mother.
“Y/N, could you walk Lucy to the tennis courts?“
The tennis courts were the first thing that anyone could see when they entered the neighborhood. Right next to the clubhouse and playground adjoined to it. Not too hard to find. But with your mother’s hard smile and urging eyes, you can tell she wanted to make a good impression.
“Uh yeah! Sure let me just-”
“Please don’t go out wearing that.”
“I know ma- I’m gonna go change-”
“Wear something nice—”
“I got it!”
As you see Lucy smile a little bit, you give a flash a teeth before you dash up the stairs in a frenzy to find anything cute. A whole tennis outfit at noon, God she really is Mary Scott material... You suffice for a college T and jean shorts as everything else was either sweaty and stained. You pick off the toothpaste stain on your shirt the best you can before you run downstairs , hearing your mom drawl how you’re not as active as you were before.
“Okay mom you can stop talking about how I’m a glob of fat now.”
Your mother’s eyes narrow at the toothpaste stain and as she raises her hands to examine it you swat it away
You glance at Lucy and give her a big grin “Okay, let’s go!”
~~~~*~~~~
As you both walk out of your front yard to the trail to the recreation area you turn to Lucy.
“So it’s Lucy? Right?”
She grins, “Yeah, and is it Y/N? Am I saying that right?”
“Yeah! You’re good.”
She cocks her head to your shirt. You suddenly feel more aware of the toothpaste stain.
“So.. you go to Baker’s?
“Yeah! Are you in uni yet?”
“Yeah, I go to Mary Scotts.”
“Kind far from here isn’t it?”
“We used to live a bit further, like 5 hours away so I’m happy for some closer storage for all my college shit.”
Thank fucking god! You curse! I don’t have to watch my tongue.
You and Lucy continue to cycle about and discuss normal college student ice breakers. Despite what you thought, all girls college doesn’t seem that bad, There’s a mix of students in Mary Scott’s area with the other universities nearby.
“So what’s fun around here?” Lucy asks “Besides the elusive tennis courts you’re taking me to.”
You begin to say something but close your mouth and furrow your brows in deep thought. Lucy chuckles as you draw your mouth in a thin line.
“Honestly… I can’t really say. Most of the neighborhood is just older people, but even when I had friends around we just drove around spending money on food. Was it the same where you used to live?”
“ Not really. We lived more out of the suburbs and I had a few friends around. We mostly just sat around my attic and gossiped”
“Gossiping is the universal binding for all teenagers with nothing to do”
Lucy gave a small chuckle to that and you both fell into silence. You start to overthink what you just said.
Does she think I’m some vapid image obsessed person? Does she think I’m boring? Ffffuckkk Y/N why do you have to be so weird- Your thinking is interrupted as you reach the courts and Lucy turns to you
“Do you.. uhm do you wanna play with me? I was just planning to practice against the wall but I brought my other racket. Not that this was my plan all along ! But that I sometimes bring two just to kinda feel it out until I’m in a groove or whatever…”
Ahh so she’s nervous too.
“Nah I understand and yeah! But just to warn you I have ZERO hand-eye coordination.”
Lucy smiles and pulls off a corded hair tie from her wrist and hands it to you, “Do you wanna tie up your hair?”
You smile and nod and flip your head upside down to gather your strands together between the cords.
After 10 minutes of playing tennis, only one round ending in a very successful back and forth, you both sat down on the court together rolling the ball back and forth with your rackets.
 Lucy laughed at your jokes and you laughed at hers. With each time you mention the becomings of an inside joke you see her eyes crinkle and a full toothed smile emerge from her face.
“Have you moved in completely?”, you ask.
“No, not really, like I still have my clothes to fold and books to organiz-”
“ ...and you came out here to play tennis?”
She rolled her eyes and grinned “ I have all summer to move in”
“ and then move back in for university” you pause for a moment “Do you need any help? I’m very experienced with placing books upright and folding fabric into 4 sided shapes”
Lucy turns and lifts her brows, “ I don’t know in my house we can only fold our linens into 7 sided heptagons… but I suppose we can use your lifting for the piles of books we have”
She glances at your arms.
“Put those arms to work”
You scrunch your face together and glance between her and your arms.
“Okay! I get it! So you have all summer to move in and I have all summer to build up my guns.”
Lucy face turns to worry “Oh no! I didn’t mean it like that, you have nice arms Y/N that’s what I am trying to say”
“Aw, well these babies only come out when I’m picking up like Cheerios from my floor. And after failing to hit your throws for like 2 hours.”
“Yeah you really weren’t lying about coordination”
“Hey! I can do other things”
“Elaborate?”
You begin to speak with confidence but it falters as you can’t seem to find anything worth bragging about. Until...
“You know what, I’ll show you, whenever you want at your house”
“Okay,” Lucy pauses “are you doing anything tomorrow”
“Might be busy with another girl from Mary Scott university beating my ass in tennis but I’ll push her aside just for you”
Lucy scoffs “ Okay, so maybe 12?”
“That’s when I wake up”
“1?”
“You know let me just give you my number and you give me a wake up call.”
“God, you are true Baker’s material.”
 Seeing as the sky was turning pink, you and Lucy returned to your street, earning a few bug bites on the way back.
“Welp, it was nice to meet you Lucy, I’ll see you later”
You reach your arm out for a hand shake.
But Lucy’s arm invited you into a small hug, a distance between both your chests. You were a little stunned, but wrapped your arms around her anyways. Lucy parted first, with a “Bye Y/N” and a small smile. You couldn’t quite place the small jump in your stomach when she said your name. Turning around you walked back into your house, hoping she’ll remember to call you tomorrow.
Day 2: Frozen Lake
pairing: Lucy Boynton x fem!reader
warnings: nothin but fluff
words: 455
a/n: oh wow do I love Lucy
Last, Full List, Next
Tumblr media
❄️❄️❄️
“C’mon, c’mon!” Lucy’s cold hand grabbed yours, tugging and trying to get you to stand up.
“Hon, can’t you wait until I lace up my skates? I can’t skate very well if I break an ankle,” you chastised her.
She just huffed in response, “Well can you hurry up? I think my fingers are starting to get frostbite.”
You laughed and looked to the bench next to you where sat a pair of neglected gloves and then looked back to her, “...you could just wear the gloves, Lucy.”
Lucy frowned, the crease in her forehead and pout of her lips making you want to kiss her, “They’re itchy.”
Giggling as you stood, now in your properly tied skates, you did kiss her, a sweet, chaste one, and then picked up the gloves and the scarf next to them.
“You’re choice, you can wear the scarf or the gloves.”
“Hmmmmm, I’ll take the scarf I guess,” Lucy said after some thought.
“Okay sweet thing, here you go,” you told her, looping it around her neck twice to keep her warm before pulling the gloves onto your hands.
Then the two of you headed off to the edge of the lake and waited a second to enter, making sure none of the other skaters were in the way as you got stable on your feet. Neither of you were great skaters, but you were good enough to only fall about once every other circle around the edge, and not hard enough to really hurt.
But the cool winter air was getting to Lucy, especially her hands that she had to keep out of her pockets for balance. And when the first few flakes of snow started falling, she made a sad little whining sound and held up her hands, her skin starting to get red.
“Look!”
“Well, we can stop skating and go get some hot chocolate at the cafe,” you offered.
“No, because as soon as we get off the ice I’m not gonna want to get back on,” she said.
You reached for the fingers of your gloves to pull them off, “Okay, then take the gloves, my hands are plenty warm.”
“...but they’re still itchy. And I don’t want your hands to get cold,” Lucy protested and all you could do was laugh at how impossible, but still so sweet, she was being.
“Well then,” you said, trying to come up with another solution. Then you reached over and grabbed both of her hands in yours, “I guess I’ll just have to hold your hands to keep you warm.”
“Sounds good to me,” Lucy agreed, pulling you closer until she could press a soft kiss to your cheek, leaving you both rosy-cheeked and smiling.
Ben stood in front of the bedroom mirror, buttoning up his dress shirt as he was getting ready for a double date with Rami and Lucy and his fiance (Y/N). The actor was more distracted than usual, however, watching the female’s reflection in the mirror as she sat at her vanity in nothing but her red silk robe doing her hair and makeup. From the moment they woke up that morning, Ben was instantly horney for the female. After continuing their cuddling from the night before, he kept his eyes trained on her bare arse as she moved to get up, picking up one of Ben’s shirts out of the bottom drawer of their clothes chest. She could feel his eyes trained on her the second she stood up and deliberately made her movements slow and teasingly, showing off every angle. The way she later stood in the kitchen while they made breakfast wearing nothing but one of his T-shirts drove him wild. Swaying her hips to the music they had put on moved the shirt just enough to give him a perfect view of what he wanted to see. He intentionally didn’t offer to help when she needed to reach something off of a high shelf this day in particular. Then of course when they sat down for breakfast, she sat on full display, well aware Ben could see her through the glass table top.
The actor had done his best all day to keep it in his pants, having some script work to do for an upcoming project, but she was making it so difficult. He desperately needed to relieve himself, but figured he could get his fun in when they showered later before the date. But when she cheekily didn’t allow him to join her, he had to admit, he was getting extremely hot and bothered extremely quickly. Now, seeing her there in that robe he bought her, he couldn’t help but imagine what it would look like pooled on the floor around her feet. “You stare at me like that any longer and I reckon I’m liable to catch fire…” (Y/N)’s voice pulled him from his thoughts.
“Well I already have, so consider us even.” Ben retorted as he turned his attention back to the mirror, shoving the bottom of his button up into his slacks. He cringed when his hand grazed his slightly hardened cock through his pants. He had spent far too long trying to calm himself down to risk getting himself worked up again over the smallest of touches, made by himself of all things.
“Awe, am I making little Benny sexually frustrated?” (Y/N) teased the actor, batting her fake eyelashes she had just put on at the actor.
“I’m not even going to grace that with an answer.” Ben grumbled, doing up his trousers before looping on his belt.
“Oh, don’t be such a stick in the mud Ben. I’m only teasing.”
“Only.” He rolled his eyes before turning to walk over to the vanity, snaking his arms around her torso, his hands landing on her breasts, as she pinned a portion of her hair up. He gave both of them a teasing squeeze hoping to get her riled up enough to get what he craved as he rested his chin on her shoulder. “Come on love...you’ve been teasing me all day, can’t we have a quickie before we go? I’m dying here.”
“Oh no you don’t. I know how you get, you’re not ruining my hair or my make up.” (Y/N) gently scolded him as she stood up out of his grip. She walked over to her wardrobe, seductively swaying her hips as she went. She stripped off the red silk robe as she began to rifle through her dress options. Ben gulped hard at the knot that had formed in his throat at the sight of her standing there in only the panties of his favourite black lace set. He groaned frustratedly as he ran his hands over his face, trying to forget the sight. “Besides…” She spoke, spurring his curiosity again. “You’ve waited this long…just think how good it's going to be when we get back.” She smirked over at him as she pulled out his favorite black lace, body hugging, deep v-neck cocktail dress from the wardrobe.
(Y/N) stepped into it, slipping the long lace sleeves over her shoulders as Ben walked up behind her. “If I live that long.” Ben muttered as he zipped up the back of her dress. She belt over, to pick up her matching heels, purposely letting her arse graze his crotch.
She stood turning to face him, a wide teasing smile on her face as she reached up and gently pat his cheek. “I have confidence in you.” She smirked before walking back to the vanity to put on the final touches.
Ben had prayed to god that she would cut him a break when they left the flat, but he was sorely mistaken. As they sat at a particularly long redlight in his car, (Y/N) undid her seatbelt in the passenger’s seat before starting to shimmy up her skirt. She had only begun to tease the blonde actor and they both knew it. “What are you doing…?” Ben hissed, watching helplessly as she played her little game.
“This dress you know...it’s just sooo tight. I just want to be comfortable.” She complained seductively as she looped her fingers around her panties, before slowly and teasingly pulling them down her toned legs..
“Jesus, (Y/N)...stop teasing me so much…” Ben complained, rubbing his face, trying to calm himself.
He watched as her panties landed on the floor of the car with a plop. “Ah that’s better…” She breathed, turning to look at the actor while licking her lips. She slowly pulled her skirt back down, making a show of it, laughing silently seeing the actor’s eyes were locked on her hands. “You wouldn’t want me to be uncomfortable now, would you Benny?” She asked innocently, batting her eyelashes at the actor.
Ben groaned, shifting uncomfortably in his seat as his trousers began to feel tight across his crotch. He turned his attention back to the road as the light turned green. “No...I guess I wouldn’t…” He mumbled. When they got to the fancy restaurant they were to meet Rami and Lucy, Ben handed his car off to the valet as they headed for the door. Ben grabbed (Y/N)’s hand pulling her to a stop. She turned to look at him innocently, his normally bright green eyes were darkened by lust and desire, he looked slightly angry. “I’m warning you now, (Y/N), this is a posh place and they are some of my closest friends, best behaviour.” He growled at the female.
She reached up, unbuttoning the button on Ben’s black suit jacket, letting her hands run for a brief moment over his chest. “Now when have you ever known me to be naughty in public, Benjamin?” She teased the actor, using his full name.
“I’m being serious, keep this up and you’re going to be in for a world of punishment when we get home.”
She reached into her clutch, taking out the panties she had removed in the car before placing them in the inside pocket of his jacket to serve as a reminder that she was wearing absolutely nothing under her dress. “Ooo, I quiver in fear.” She smirked, pulling away from his grip, walking seductively into the restaurant. Ben took a few deep breaths, shaking out his head to steady himself before following her through the revolving door. They stood pressed up against each other for a moment due to the high volume of people standing in the reception area. “Oh there they are.” She pointed out Rami and Lucy in the crowd, grinding her hips into Ben’s very slightly as she tried to maneuver her way around a couple over to the bar where the couple stood, happily sipping on their drinks. Ben groaned low in his throat, feeling his trousers beginning to tent ever so slightly at her antics.
“There you guys are!” Lucy cheered seeing the pair approach them.
“Sorry, we were stuck in a spot of traffic.” Ben apologized as he greeted the pair.
“They said it should just be a few minutes, so go get some drinks and let's catch up.” Rami smiled at the pair.
“With pleasure…” Ben mumbled under his breath hoping the alcohol would help calm him to some extent. While they stood at the bar, (Y/N) in front of Ben, she began to sway her hips to the music that was being played in the bar. To anybody else, she looked like she was just enjoying herself but Ben felt every movement of her arse perfectly against his crotch. He grabbed her hips, stilling her instantly, before leaning down to whisper in her ear. “I’m warning you. Stop this while you still have the chance to get off easily.” He threatened her.
“Where’s the fun in that?” She mused with a smile, picking up their drinks when they were placed on the bar in front of her. She handed the actor his before they rejoined the pair.
They were sat at the table a while later and all through the meal, (Y/N) continued her antics secretly under the table. It took much restraint for Ben to hide the look of pleasure on his face as (Y/N)’s foot traveled up his leg so high she could count the change in his pocket. “Ben, is everything alright? You seem awfully distracted…” She asked him at one point during their meal while she was in the process of feeling him up. The audacity.
He cleared his throat and shifted ever so slightly in order to push her foot away from him. She thought she was being so innocent, it was plain as the nose on her face what she was doing and he was going to have none of it. “Oh yeah, never better.” He smirked, a hint of dark lust hidden in his eyes, invisible to Rami or Lucy, but painfully obvious to (Y/N).
After that he had to excuse himself from the table to splash a bit of cold water on his face in order to steady himself. He stared at himself in the lavatory mirror, trying to convince himself that he was going to be fine, that he was going to make it through this meal without feeling like he was going to explode. She was absolutely irresistible to him and she knew exactly well what she was doing to him. At one point when she had gotten up to the toilets, half of him considered following her and taking his frustrations out on her here and now, but at the same time, he knew it wouldn’t satisfy him enough and would look suspicious to Rami and Lucy, especially after their little exchange earlier. It would all be over soon, he kept trying to reassure himself, he would soon have his revenge. “This was fun!” Lucy cheered as they stood out front the restaurant later that night waiting for their respective cars. “We should definitely do it again sometime.”
“Oh you know that would be absolutely fantastic!” (Y/N) smiled, the hand that had been resting on Ben’s back trailed down until it rested soundly in the back pocket of his trousers.
The blonde actor stiffened ever so slightly, masking what he was feeling deep down as he shook Rami’s hand goodbye. “It was great seeing you both again. And I agree, let's get together again sometime soon.” Ben nodded at the other actor, a slight plea for help in his eyes.
“Yeah, for sure man.” Rami smiled, leaning over so Ben was the only one who could hear him. “I know exactly what you’re going through Lucy has been doing the same thing to me all night.”
“How did you…?”
“Trust me I’ve seen that same look in my eyes whenever I excuse myself enough to know what’s been going on. Best of luck to you.” Rami patted the actor’s shoulder before pulling back, returning his arm to its place around Lucy’s waist.
“Same to you mate.” Ben nodded as he pulled (Y/N) tighter into his side as their car was brought up. “Cheers mate.”
“Bye! Get home safe!” Lucy waved off.
“You too!” (Y/N) called back before getting into the car, a proud smirk on her face. Ben got in with a huff, keeping his eyes trained on the road, a scowl on his face.  “Well then, somebody looks sexually frustrated.” She teased. “I’m surprised you didn’t follow me to the toilets at some point.” The actor glared at her out of the corner of his eye but kept his gaze trained forward. “Awe, come on Ben, lighten up I was only having a bit of fun.”
“Only a bit of fun? You do realize who you were doing that in front of and where you were doing it right?” Ben snapped angrily at the female. In actuality, he wasn’t really angry with her, he just wanted her to think he was because he knew what it did to her. By the time they got home, he needed her to be putty in his hands. “I asked you to behave and you deliberately disobeyed me.”
“Alright Mufassa, calm down.” (Y/N) quipped rolling her eyes as she leaned back into her seat.
“You’re such a child sometimes I swear. It’s high time you were taught some manners.” Ben growled.
“And just what are you going to do about it?” (Y/N) asked as they stopped at a red light.
The actor turned and grabbed the female by the jaw, forcing her to look at him, his normally bright green eyes darkened heavily with desire. “Oh honey, it's not a question of what I’m going to do, it's about how I’m going to do it, and how much I’m going to make you suffer.” The female gulped at his actions, Ben had always been the dominant one in the bedroom but this was a whole new level she had never seen before. “Now if you know what’s good for you, you’ll shut up for the rest of the way home or you will absolutely not get to come for a full month, do I make myself clear?” He hissed. She nodded, not wanting to test this threat. “Good girl.” He patted her cheek as the light turned yellow then green.
Once they were home, they had just barely gotten through the door before he was pinning her up against it, kissing her roughly, her hands above her head, one of his legs between hers as he massaged one of her breasts. “I’ve never wanted to fuck somebody so badly.” He groaned between kisses as he trailed open mouthed kisses down her jaw over her neck where he bit harshly on her sweet spot, not enough to hurt her but to make her squirm. “You won’t be able to see straight when I’m done with you. Think you can just tease me all fucking day and get off easy with it? Think again sweetheart.” He grumbled pushing himself off her. “I’m going to get a drink, and if I come into the bedroom to not find you completely stripped and laying in the middle of the bed, your punishment is going to be even worse than you can imagine. Understand?” Ben hissed at the female, towering over her intimidatingly. She nodded quickly, clearly intimidated by this darker side of Ben. “Good girl.” He said slapping her on the arse as she scurried off toward the bedroom. He chuckled as he went into the kitchen, fixing himself a whiskey on the rocks as he loosened his tie. He leaned against the counter taking a sip as he considered his course of action. It was time for his revenge, and it would never taste sweeter than this.
(Y/N) didn't know Tim. She didn't know him in the slightest. Why was she trusting him to let her out of this dungeon she grew to call her home?
The answer would have been easy, that he was her only hope. And to some extent, he was. She loved adventures even though she hadn't been on one, not one she could remember, anyway. But after meeting him and serving him some leftover soup (while he awkwardly stood in the corner of the kitchen, rubbing his sore shoulders), she realized how desperate she was. She didn't know who he was, but yet he would be more trustable than her mother.
She was doubtful, of course. What if people like him were the reason her mother locked her up? Were people like him the reason that daughters couldn't sleep at night? Were people like him the reason that people would be deemed as "kind" since the bar seemed so low? She didn't know. But she didn't have anything to lose, and if anything were to happen, then she would finally get a chance to show off her impeccable skill of injuring people with only a frying pan.
She was snapped out of her reverie from a loud sigh at the other end of the table. She saw Tim stretching his arms over his head leisurely, a yawn escaping his lips.
"Well, that was one of the most amazing soups I've had, so thank you for that," he said, his awkwardness from earlier seemed to have gone, or maybe he was just masking it well.
She nodded, and a small "You're welcome" was said. Her mother may have been a monster, but that didn't stop her from teaching the young girl some manners.
Her eyes didn't leave him, neither did his. She did not know what he was thinking, and she didn't want to know. She didn't know how people worked, never having met a person other than her unstable mother. The only person she knew was herself, but can you honestly say that you know yourself if you haven't met company that brings out other parts of you?
She wondered what his life was like. Was he trapped, was he being "protected" from the evils of the world—or was he a free wanderer?
She didn't know how long she stared at him, but then again he was allowing her to stare at him. "Right, so I will be asking for payback, as I said," she started. He nodded, taking a deep breath. "We should go u-"
"I don't get your deal," he blurted.
"My deal?" she asked, narrowing her eyes.
"Yes, why were you acting so weird about money? And why are you in this tower in the middle of nowhere? Are you a witch?" he asked.
His last sentence was meant to be a joke, and she noticed it as one but she didn't laugh. She didn't want to show any emotions, fearing she would be deemed as weak.
"Well," she started, taking a deep breath herself. Should she really be telling all of this to a person she just met?
Well, too late now.
"My mother doesn't trust anyone and I think that sort of projected on me. So she gave birth to me and hid me here so I wouldn't be attacked or manipulated. And that's also why I want to go to The Outside and see what she's hiding me from. It can't be that bad right? I see the birds chirping from my window and the grass under the tower every day and it kills me that I can't feel it," she ranted, her hands flinging wildly.
Yes, she wasn't telling him the whole picture, how she would say things to her if she didn't sing the song. And yes, she was also hiding from him the fact that she was born bearing magic.
Seeing that her rant was over, Tim tilted his head. "That's a pretty cool origin story if you ask me," he said, once again trying to make her laugh. He was good at trying, she noticed. Giving in, she laughed a bit, not really getting the joke.
She looked at him again, but this time he was smiling widely, proud of his accomplishment. She felt butterflies in the pit of her stomach, or something like that; she had only read this feeling in books after all.
Too oblivious to notice anything else, she smiled back at him, now giving him the advantage of knowing her better. She figured since she was going to go on an adventure with him, she might as well show him some of her soft side.
He stood up, dragging his chair backward in the process. She looked up at him, now standing up as well. "Shall we go to the outside then, m'lady?" he asked, the smile still on his face.
She nodded, but seeing him head towards the main door, said, "Oh no, that's always locked. I have a rope upstairs though."
He had a wild look in his eyes. "W-we're going to slide down a rope?" he asked.
"Well, yeah, there's no other option, really," she said, pointing to his now broken arrows.
He nodded in affirmation although he still seemed nervous.
Seeing him like this made her pity him, so she held his hand in hers, rubbing what she hoped to be comforting circles on the back of his surprisingly warm hand. She didn't know this only made his heartbeat race up ten times faster, she didn't look at his face as his eyes blew wide open. She just smiled slightly and said, "It's okay, I'm sure nothing bad will happen."
She read people doing this in books. She got all of her "people knowledge" from books.
She let go of his hand, walking towards the stairs, silently telling Tim to follow.
She also didn't see the slightly disappointed look he had when she let go.
~~
"Are you sure this is strong enough?" he asked her, genuinely terrified of this too-thin rope.
She nodded quite assuringly, though he wasn't convinced. "Are you scared of heights?" she asked. Her look wasn't of a person trying to tease him, just a genuine question. She probably wouldn't even know what teasing was, he thought.
So he nodded, trying not to let his heartbeat be audible to her. "Well, aren't you afraid of something?" he asked.
"Not really, I haven't experienced anything to be afraid of it," she said, though she did seem a little uncertain. He decided not to pry.
He made a silent promise in his head that he would give her anything if it meant she wouldn't be afraid.
He didn't really want to do this, though. He did not want to take a random girl somewhere to see the "world", or a small part of it, anyway.
But, she helped him so it was only polite to help her too. And besides, if he wanted to, he could just hand her over to some other people and get rid of yet another responsibility in his life.
He also didn't want to address his feelings.
He slowly looked down from her window, still scared. He took in a huge breath and before he could let it out, he heard her whisper, "Do you want to go first?"
Without thinking, he blurted out a "yes." He mentally berated himself for doing this, guessing spontaneity was probably another thing he carried from his childhood.
He didn't even register the fact that (Y/N) was rubbing circles on his back, as his breathing returned to somewhat normal.
He reached out for the rope, gripping it tightly as he slowly climbed out of the window.
One by one, he dragged his feet down, then his hands, then his feet and so on, only concentrating on his breathing, only looking up at the skies and (Y/N)'s head peeking from the window, and soon enough he could feel the small stream flowing below, as he looked down. Only one more step and he could jump and land on the soft, plush grass.
And he did.
He could also hear (Y/N) cheer for him from above, and even though her voice was faint, her excitement was visible.
He smiled widely, pumping his fists above him. He looked up and waved her to climb down as well, and even though only her silhouette was visible, he could imagine her nodding.
He stepped aside and soon enough she dragged herself down the same way he did, though her eyes were glued to the ground. She was barefoot, he realized, and made a mental note to buy her good shoes, if he could afford it from his bit of money he had in his bag.
She stayed there, gripping the rope, her knuckles white, as she stared at the ground that was now close to her. He didn't realize how much this meant to her.
Her foot touched the cool grass as he held his breath.
A wide smile emerged on her face, so wide that he could barely see her eyes, but if he could, he was pretty sure they were sparkling. Her smile was contagious, he found himself smiling as well.
Her other foot slowly touched the ground as well, as she looked around her, seeing the beautiful world, and him.
In Case You Didn’t Know
A/N: Hello, hello! Next songfic that I wrote! This one is ‘In Case You Didn’t Know’ by Brett Young (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7qaHdHpSjX8) with Gwilym! I really liked this one, so I hope you guys do too!
Pairing: Gwilym Lee x fem!Reader
Summary: You and Gwilym have been dating for a couple months, but he’s about to leave for Italy. And you want to say something to him.
Warnings: Some sad (not really angsty), Cursing, Fluff, Implied sex (not explicit in the slightest, but just in case)
Taglist: @queenlover05, @seven-seas-of-ham-on-rhye
 You watched as Gwilym ran around his flat, packing up for his newest job.
“I can’t believe you’re going to be in Italy for almost four months,” you pouted.
“I know, Y/N/N, but I’ll be back before you know it,” Gwil gave you a kind smile.
“Says you. You’ll be in a far off foreign country, doing something you love, and I’ll be here without my amazing boyfriend.”
Gwil looked at you sitting on the couch. It made him realize how much he was going to miss you.
The two of you had been dating for close to three months. Actually, tomorrow, the day he left, was your three month anniversary. And you were crazy about him. You hadn’t said those three magical words yet, but you wanted to. You wanted to tell him that you were in love with him. Truly. Madly. Deeply. In love.
Gwil walked over to you. You looked up at him and gave him a half smile. He took your hand and pulled you to your feet. He wrapped his arms around you and you rested your head on his chest.
“I’m going to miss you so much,” you whispered, nearly in tears. You couldn’t help it. He’d become such a big part of your life. You were friends for nearly a year before you both finally admitted to having feelings for each other. You’d talked every day since and seen each other usually three times a week. Now what were you supposed to do?
“I’ll miss you too,” Gwil pressed a kiss to top of your head. “But you could come visit.”
“You know I’ve got that big project at work coming up. I don’t know if I’ll be able to get away.”
Gwil sighed and gave you a squeeze and then rubbed your back. “It’ll be okay. We’ve got Facetime, and texting, and email.”
You chuckled under your breath. “Email, huh?”
“That way we can talk while you’re at work.”
“I’ve got an idea,” you pulled your head away and looked up at him.
“What’s that?”
“You finish packing and then meet me in the bedroom in oh…fifteen minutes?”
“Make it five,” Gwil growled and gave you a kiss.
Later that night, you were lying in bed with Gwil’s arms wrapped around you.
“What time do you have to be at the airport?”
“Half past seven,” Gwil pressed a kiss to your neck.
“We should probably get some sleep then. We’ve only got about five hours until we have to leave.”
“I suppose you’re right,” Gwil pressed another kiss to your shoulder.
“Don’t start what you can’t finish, Lee,” you mumbled as his lips continued moving.
“No, no, you’re right, we should get some sleep,” Gwil said in your ear before kissing just below it.
You turned over so that you were facing him. He gave you a soft smile.
“We really need to sleep.”
“I never said that you were wrong about that.”
You looked over Gwilym’s face in the soft light that was coming in through his window. Your heart was swelling and there…right on the tip of your tongue…
“Gwil, I…” you sighed, chickening out. “I really think we should get to sleep. You get crabby when you don’t get enough sleep.”
Gwil kissed your forehead. “Fine, let’s get some sleep.”
“And you’ll text me when you land?” You asked Gwil in the car in the morning.
“Of course I will,” Gwil squeezed your hand as you pulled into the loading zone.
“And call me after you get settled?” You knew you were just putting off letting him go. There was no way to put it off anymore. He would be leaving. You felt like your heart was going to actually break when he left.
“I will, I promise.”
You didn’t know it, but Gwil felt the same way. He hated leaving you for a week, let alone three months.
“And if you meet some pretty Italian woman then you’ll at least…”
“The only pretty Italian in my life is Joe.”
You laughed and then parked the car. “If you say so,” you glance at the clock inside your car. It was 7:15. “We should get you inside.”
You and Gwilym walked inside, hand-in-hand.
“...and when I get back, I’ll have a bunch of new recipes that I’ll be able to cook for you.”
“Now I really can’t wait for you to come home,” you pulled Gwil to a stop just before the ticket counter for him to check in.
“I can’t wait either,” Gwil sighed and then checked his watch. “I should really get going.”
You frowned. This was it.
Gwil wrapped his arms around you and pulled you towards him.
“I’m going to miss you so much,” Gwil whispered.
“I’m going to miss you too,” you said into his chest. You looked up at him and put your hand on his cheek. You then pulled him into a kiss. It still sent a bolt though you. Gwil pulled away and rested his forehead to yours.
“I love you.”
You hadn’t meant to say it. It just came out. Your ears started ringing and you took a step back from him.
“Y/N,” Gwil’s face was screwed up in confusion as he reached for you.
You both stared at each other for a few moments. When it was clear that you had really messed up and he wasn’t going to say it back, you panicked. He didn’t love you. He wasn’t where you were yet. Shit. SHIT! Your mind told you to run. To get out of there as soon as you could.
“I…I’m sorry. I don’t know why I said that. I just…um…and you don’t have to say it back! You better get going. I’ll talk to you when you land,” you quickly pressed a kiss to his check and made your way out of the building, hoping that you didn’t look at embarrassed as you felt.
God, you were so stupid. How could you just blurt that out just before he left? If you’d said it last night you could’ve at least talked it out. And now he was flying thousands of miles away. Fuck.
Meanwhile, Gwil was making his way to his gate. His heart was about to beat out of his chest. He’d heard you, of course. He knew what you said. And what it meant. It made him nervous. The last time he had been in a relationship he thought he was in love, but he got burned. What if the same thing happened here? He knew how he felt, but…was he ready to say it back to you? Right now? No, he wasn’t. So maybe some time apart would be good.
Later, as you were still panicking and stalking around your flat, you heard your phone ringing. You almost ran to answer it. You saw Gwil’s name on your phone and you felt yourself release a breath that you didn’t know that you’d been holding.
“Hello?”
“Hi, darling,” Gwil said.
It made you smile.
“You made it to your hotel?”
“I did. I am unpacking as we speak.”
“Good, I’m glad you’re there safe,” you replied.
Then the phone went silent. You listened to Gwilym as he unpacked and put his clothes away. It felt awkward. Or was that just you? Did he feel as awkward as you did? Probably not.
Gwilym felt nervous. Why though? You had said that he didn’t need to say it back. And he’d decided that he wasn’t ready. Not yet.
“So, what did you do the rest of the afternoon?”
“Oh, you know, cleaned up around the flat. Dishes, laundry, the usual,” you replied.
“Sounds like fun.”
“I guess.”
The silence took over again. You couldn’t handle it anymore. You had to bring it up.
“Look, Gwil, about what I said at the airport?”
“Yeah?” Gwil wasn’t sure what he was expecting you to say, but some sort of clarification would be nice.
“I…I didn’t mean to…make this weird.”
“Weird? Who said anything about weird?” Gwil asked, even though both of you knew it was weird.
You could take it back, but realized that you didn’t want to. You’d meant it. You’d meant everything you’d said. You loved him. And yes, you would like to hear it back, but you didn’t need to. You could wait until he was ready.
“I meant what I said. I do love you. And…and you don’t have to say it back if you’re not ready. And I probably should have said it before you left for four months, but I needed you to know.”
Gwilym didn’t know how to respond. He knew that he didn’t want to lose you, but he also knew that he wasn’t ready to say it back yet.
“Thank you for telling me. I just I don’t think I’m there yet.” Gwil almost felt guilty. He wanted to, but he just couldn’t bring himself to say it.
“And I’m not trying to force you!” You told him. You meant it, but your vision began to swim. Why were you crying? “I just…” You weren’t really sure what you were just, but Gwil apparently knew.
“I know, and I care about you a great deal, cariad.” And he did. He cared about you more than most people in his life. Maybe he was in love with you. But he couldn’t say it if he didn’t mean it.
You exhaled slowly to keep from crying. “I know you do, Gwil.”
“Good,” Gwil closed his eyes. He could tell you were upset, but he also knew that you weren’t going to force him into saying that he loved you.
“So,” you cleared your throat and wiped your eyes. “How was your flight?”
“Oh just dreadful,” Gwilym groaned and launched into the story about the awful person sitting next to him that just complained for the entire flight.
You and Gwil fell back into your normal conversations. It was like nothing had changed. You were on the phone for nearly two hours before you yawned and felt your eyes drooping.
“I’m sorry, sweetheart. You’ve probably been awake all day and some bastard kept you awake late last night.”
You giggled. “Yes, he did. He’s cute though, so I’ll give him a pass.”
Gwil chortled. “I’m sure he appreciates that.”
“You should probably get some sleep, too. You’ve got a big day tomorrow.”
“I know. Can we Facetime tomorrow night after you get off work?”
“Of course we can. I’ll call you?”
“Perfect. I um…Y/N?”
“Yeah?” Your heart accelerated a bit. You thought that maybe Gwil had changed his mind and was going to say it.
“I miss you.”
You bit your bottom lip.
“I miss you too, babe.”
“I’ll um…I’ll talk to you tomorrow, yeah?”
“Right. Bye, Gwil.”
“Bye, Y/N.”
There was a brief stint of silence and you thought about telling him again. The conversation almost felt incomplete. Now that you had said it, you almost felt like you had to end the conversation with it. You inhaled to start, but then Gwil told you goodbye again and then you heard him hang up. You sighed, annoyed with yourself. You should’ve said it to him.
Gwil sat on his hotel bed and stared at his phone for a few moments. He could call you back, talk to you more about the whole ‘I love you’ thing. No. He shouldn’t.
Gwilym laid back and closed his eyes. This was going to be a long few months.
 “You seem…different,” your coworker, Julia, said to you over lunch one day.
“What do you mean?” You asked as you took a bite of your salad.
“You’re quiet, you’re sort of…down? I mean, I know that this project has gotten out of hand, but it seems like more than that. Problems at home?”
“Gwil is still in Italy.”
“When does he come home?” Julia’s voice was full of genuine concern. She was like the mother of the office.
“Not for another month. And…something else,” you sighed.
“What’s that?”
You went into an explanation of how you had told Gwil you loved him and he’d still yet to say it. It made you nervous. It made you feel like you were much more invested than he was. You had told him a couple more times, but Gwil still just said that he ‘cared about you, deeply’.
“Well, you both have been busy. Have you been talking every day?”
“No, I mean, we text every day, but we don’t talk on the phone. Sometimes we only send like five texts.”
Julia just hummed.
“I don’t know,” you rubbed the bridge of your nose. “Maybe when he comes back, we should take a step back.”
“I would wait for him to come back. Then maybe the two of you can approach the subject again.”
“I guess so. And just….wait until then?”
“I suppose so.”
“Thanks, Julia,” you gave her a small smile.
“Gwilym, is everything okay?” Nicholas asked him as they were sitting in the makeup trailer.
“Hm?” Gwil looked over at him. He’d been thinking about you. He was going to be home in less than two weeks and he missed you like crazy. He couldn’t wait to see you again. He was thinking about planning a romantic date of dinner, maybe some dancing. “Oh, yes. Just ready to be home, I think.”
“Ah. Ready to see Y/N, eh?”
Gwil smiled and nodded. “More than ready. Facetime just isn’t working for me anymore.”
“You poor thing. Four months without your love.”
“...right. My l…love.”
Nicholas cocked an eyebrow at him in the mirror.
“You two have been together how long?”
“About six months now.”
“And…you’ve said ‘I love you’, right?”
Gwil was silent.
“Oh, Gwil. You…you do love her, don’t you? The way you talked about her, I just assumed… I hate to say this, but if you don’t know by now, you probably don’t love her.”
Gwil stayed quiet, but his brain was working a mile a minute. He knew he loved you. He had figured it out a couple weeks after he left. The two of you were Facetiming and you had laughed at something that Gwil said to you and it hit him. It hit him like a ton of bricks. He was in love with you. He’d been in love with you since before the two of you were even dating, he’d just denied himself that. He’d just been so burned in the past he wasn’t willing to admit to himself. Now he was. He wanted to tell you, but he also thought that something that monumental should be said face-to-face. Even when you had said to him over the phone, he hadn’t said it back yet.
A couple nights before he left, Gwilym was sitting in his hotel room planning on how he could tell you. He pulled out a piece of paper and pen.
“Y/N,
I’ve been thinking about this for a while now. I think I really knew the moment when we were at Barney’s house and you and I were in the kitchen. We were having a discussion about whether or not I was right about…something or other. I honestly can’t remember, but you were arguing with me and I realized how passionate you were. I also couldn’t take my eyes off you. I think that was the first moment my brain said ‘oh, you’re in love with her’ and the annoyingly logical part of my brain said ‘NO! You’re not even dating her!’
Then, there was the night that we kissed for the first time after our first date. You and I had just left the theatre and we were holding hands, walking back to your flat. We walked up your door and I thought that maybe I wouldn’t kiss you. I wouldn’t try to rush things, but seeing you that night. That dress you were wearing and your eye makeup slightly smudged from you crying at the show…you looked too beautiful not to do something about it.
Finally, when you told me that you loved me at the airport, I…I should have said it back. I should have said it on the phone the night. I should have said it every day since then. And I’ sorry that I didn’t.
The truth is, Y/N, I’ve been in love with you for a long time. And it’s about bloody time that I tell you.
Y/N, I love you. I’m in love with you. Simple as that.
 Gwil looked over what he had written and shook his head. He could read that to you over the phone the next time you spoke on the phone. But later that night, as he was talking to you, he couldn’t do it. He did decide to make the night he came home special though. He knew that you’d wanted to go to Fridley’s, a new restaurant that had opened not too long ago. Maybe he could call and make reservations…
 You were bouncing on the balls of your feet at the airport. Waiting for Gwilym to finally be home. In your arms. In your bed. Not even for anything sexual (but for the love of GOD you needed him for that too), just being held by him during the night.
You couldn’t wait to see him. You couldn’t wait to kiss him and be with him. Even if it was just cuddling on the couch.
Finally, you watched as he came down the escalator. He was searching the crowd. Until those deep blue eyes that you hadn’t seen outside of a screen locked on yours. Your face broke into an face splitting grin. Gwil matched you.
He was so happy to see you. The moment he met your eyes his brain and his heart started yelling at him, “THERE SHE IS! THE WOMAN THAT YOU LOVE!” He wasn’t arguing with it anymore. He knew it was true. He was absolutely in love with you.
The two of you practically ran into each other’s arms. Gwil picked you up and spun you around. You giggled and wrapped your arms and legs around him.
“Oh, cariad, I missed you so so much,” he whispered in your ear.
“I missed you, too. Oh my gosh, I can’t believe you’re home!”
“Me either, darling, me either,” Gwil gave you a squeeze and then he sat you down. “I’ve got some surprises for you tonight.”
“Is that right? Does that include going to yours? Because I swear…”
Gwil gave you a heated kiss, promises of more to come. He had missed being able to kiss you. He had missed…well doing more than kissing, but right now he could settle for that. He was hoping he could convey how much he missed and loved you in that kiss.
“Oh we will end up at one of our flats. I promise you that.”
You laughed again. “Well, what are these surprises?”
“We’ve got dinner reservations at Friedly’s at seven. What do you think about that?”
You gasped. “How did you get reservations there? That’s the busiest place in London. You would have had to made reservations months ago.”
Gwil looked nervous for a moment. “I sort of called and played the ‘I’m an actor’ card.”
“Aw, you did that for me?” You laughed, knowing Gwil wouldn’t have don e that unless it was really important.
“Only for you, darling,” Gwil took one of your hands and brought it to his lips.
 Later that evening, you were getting ready. You didn’t say ‘I love you’ to Gwil but you were going to say it tonight.
And if he didn’t say it back, the two of you were going to have a serious conversation.
You applied your lipstick before looking yourself over in the mirror. You were wearing what you knew was Gwil’s favorite dress and heels.
Gwil walked up the stairs to your flat. He usually took the lift, but he had so much nervous energy that he took the stairs. Tonight was the night.
You heard a knock at your door and smiled, knowing who was out there. You walked over and answered the door. Gwil was wearing a black suit with no tie. His whole face lit up when he saw you. It made your heart flutter and the butterflies you had in your stomach all day go crazy.
You didn’t know that Gwilym was experiencing the same thing.
“Hi, sweetheart.”
“...and they have beautiful beaches.”
“Sounds divine,” you sighed as you took another sip of wine.
“It is. I’ll have to take you there sometime.”
You smiled behind your glass, hoping that that promise would come sooner rather than later. Gwil was already planning it in his head while he poured himself another glass.
“But enough about my trip, how did your project go? I know you’ve been working so hard.”
You sighed and began talking about your project that you were still working on. Something had gone horribly wrong and you were still working on it. You even had to bring in some outside help and now you were in charge of the entire thing since your supervisor had been fired because of the mistake he made.
“At least I got a pay raise,” you downed the rest of your wine. It was already taking effect on you, your head getting a little lighter.
Gwil poured you some more wine as he listened to you continue to talk about your work.
You really liked your job, but it had been stressful lately and without Gwil there in person to talk to, it was worse.
After your second glass, you got giggly. Wine always did that to you.
“Gwil, can we dance?” You asked him as the string quartet started playing.
“Of course, darling,” Gwil stood up and then pulled your chair out, leading you to the dancefloor. Gwil wrapped one of arms around your waist, pulling you close and took your hand with the other. You put your free hand on his shoulder and he started moving around to the music.
“I know I told you this at the airport, but I missed you so much while I was gone.”
“I missed you too, Gwil,” you sighed.
Gwil let go of your hand and put his hand on your waist, pulling you flush against him. You rested your head on his chest before you put your other arm around his neck. Gwil pressed a kiss to your hair.
You listened to Gwil’s heartbeat in your ear. You’d missed hearing it. You’d missed having him hold you. You’d just missed everything about him.
Gwil had missed this too. He missed having you near him. Being able to see you whenever he wanted. Being able to kiss you whenever he wanted. He had missed everything about you.
It was now or ever.
Gwilym took a deep breath. “Y/N?”
“Hm?” You picked your head up and looked at him.
He just stared at you for a few moments.
“I…I know that I…” Gwil cleared his throat. “I know things have sort of been a bit…not up in the air, but odd? Because I haven’t said…you know. I haven’t told you that I…” Gwil sighed, trying to find the words. “What I’m trying to say, darling, is... I love you.”
You gasped. You weren’t expecting for him to say it first tonight.
“Gwil, I…you don’t have to…”
Gwil pulled you into a kiss, much like the one at the airport. He rested his forehead to yours again.
“I want to. And I mean it. I’ve been so SO in love with you for a long time, I just…I was being stupid and far too logical for my own good.”
“Say it again.”
Gwil smiled and ran his thumb along your jaw.
“I love you, Y/N. I love you more than I can…”
You cut him off with a kiss. A searing one that if the two of you weren’t in public, would lead to something that you both needed and wanted. You wrapped your fingers in Gwil’s hair deepening the kiss. You swallowed the groan he started.
Gwil pulled away for some air.
“Sweetheart, as much as I would love for this to continue, I um…I don’t think here is the appropriate place.”
“Let’s pay and go back to yours.”
“Yes, I…yes, let’s do that.”
“Say it one more time, please?”
Gwil stared into your eyes and gave you a quick kiss.
“I love you.”
“I love you too, Gwil. I love you so much.”
“I know, cariad.”
You and Gwil went back to his flat and enjoyed each other’s company the rest of the night with sweet kisses, slow, passionate sex, and whispered declarations of love.
You fell asleep, wrapped in Gwil’s arms. Safe, secured, and, now you finally knew, loved.
Essence of My Muse
Tumblr media
Lucy Boynton x Female Reader
You were recently hired as Lucy’s makeup artist. She was your greatest muse and soon enough, you were hers as well.
Contains: fluff and smut
A/N: rushed and written while sleep deprived. possible sequel follow up
Words: 2.1K
><><
The first time you did Lucy’s makeup, she complimented the lavender scent emanating from your wrists.
As you did her makeup that time, your hands hovered delicately around her face, the scent lulling her into calmness. Since then, you made it a habit to make sure you wore a pleasing essence each time you came over.
You’d act nonchalant whenever she took notice of it. When you felt that she was getting used to one scent and the habit of commenting on it would fade away, you’d switch to a different scent so she would take notice again.
Today was one of those days.
“Mm, let me guess…” Lucy said faintly, bottom lip slightly clasped in between her teeth in thought. “Jasmine…?”
“Correct.” You chuckled softly. Your fingers grazed across her face, prepping her skin with primer.
There was something different about tonight when she called you over. You were not previously informed of an event she had to go to tonight. Something about her voice on the phone sounded different, firm yet pleading. When you arrived, the usual team of hair and fashion stylists weren’t there. In fact, Lucy seemed to be getting ready for bed when she answered the door.
It was just the two of you. Lucy, draped in a silk robe, sitting by the window of her penthouse that overlooked a wondrous view of New York. The lights of the apartment were dimmed, and she barely seemed responsive when you’d ask her questions of what event she was headed for tonight.
“Don’t worry about all that. Just work your magic, whatever you feel like doing to me.” She smiled with a coy shrug.
You didn’t object. Those hours of getting your greatest muse ready were the best part of your week. She trusted her ethereal face in your hands, a beautiful canvas that was yours to do what you pleased. You’d do anything you could do to let the indigo spark in her eyes gleam, bring out the plump and shine of her already kissable lips, enhance her sharpened bone structure so perfect it seemed to be carved from marble.
She was yours for those hours, until it was time for her to depart to whatever party or event awaited her. Though so many things about tonight hinted that she wasn’t planning on going out anywhere. But for whatever reason, she desperately needed you to come over to glam her up.
Lucy took in a deep breath as she turned her head so that her nose lightly fluttered at your wrist. As she let out her breath, a faint noise of bliss escaped, her lips parting. The hot rush of steam that danced across your skin as she breathed out cued a slight shiver from you. Your reaction was not lost on Lucy.
She opened her eyes, looking up at you through her lashes, her lips curling into a smirk. “You alright there?”
A hum and a nod was all you could muster as a response. It was hard to formulate a sentence when your mind was occupied with replaying the soft sound she made in tranquil response to your essence. You gulped as you felt the heat begin running to your cheeks, no doubt exposing how much those little movements from her weakened you.
Lucy muffled a mischievous chuckle by lightly biting her lip once more. She was well aware of the effect she had on you, but decided to spare you from the flustered state that began washing over you.
Feeling a surge of courage, you cupped her cheek, brushing your thumb faintly across her bottom lip and lightly tugging it down until it was no longer clamped between her teeth.
Lucy licked her lips a little, the tip of her tongue feathering so close to the tip of your thumb.
“Lip primer?” Lucy spoke while your thumb was still planted on the bottom outline of her lip.
You didn’t respond. Your eyes simply trailed over the curves of her lips, as you let your thumb follow your gaze.
“You’re not going out anywhere, are you?” You asked bluntly. It was near impossible to pretend anymore. The city lights streaming in through the window were barely enough to light up the dim room, not nearly enough to properly do her makeup. No one else in her glam team was present. And Lucy hadn’t bothered to do more to keep up the charade.
The grin that etched across her face was a sufficient enough answer.
“Fun fact...” Lucy whispered. The faintness of her tone lured you in. You leaned down slightly closer under the guise of needing to hear her better. She took another whiff of your wrists, soaking in the essence. “Apparently… the scent of jasmine was discovered as the winning blend...”
“The winning blend?” You repeated, your voice so faint it was inaudible. You were growing more entranced with your thumb brushing against her soft lips.
“The winning blend… for aphrodisiac properties...” She drew out the last ‘s’ sound letting her breath mist over your thumb.
You sucked in a quick breath. “I know…” You nodded. “Every other scent I’ve worn around you had such properties as well…”
“My, my…” She quirked an eyebrow. “What a coincidence…” That delightful sarcasm that you usually found endearing was only flustering under these circumstances. The game of ‘who could play coy the most’ which started the moment you began working for her, was now unbearable.
You opened your mouth, prepared to end the game, demanding an end to her tease. Though, you didn’t need to.
Ending your agony, Lucy parted her lips further until her tongue met with your thumb. Taking the hint, you let your thumb slip into her mouth as she bit down on it slightly. Her lips sucked on it tenderly before pulling away, while looking up at you. The relief of her slicing the tension allowed you to finally acknowledge the arousal that had pooled at your centre.
Once your thumb was free, the cold air replacing her hot breath, you made no hesitation to cup her cheeks with both hands, leaning down slowly until your breaths mingled.
Just before you could welcome her lips against yours, she whispered wide-eyed. “Close your eyes.”
Your brows furrowed at her. Her hands slid up and around your shoulders, motioning for you to sit in front of her.
When she saw that you were at eye level, she tutted and shook her head. She pulled you closer to her, gesturing for you to sit on her lap, so that you were slightly elevated. You obliged with her requests in a trance since you were still fixated on tasting her bare lips, free from any flavour you would’ve painted on them. The flavour of her was all you craved.
Her fingers lightly made contact with your eyelids, and taking the cue, you closed them. The last sight of Lucy’s eyes burning every inch of your face, singed into the black of your lids as you closed them.
You blindly leaned forward, eager to kiss her. Though you couldn’t see, you could sense that every move you made forward, she’d tip her head back.
You sighed. “Kiss me.” You whispered almost pleadingly.
You could hear her laugh faintly before her lips met your cheek, the tips of her short hair tickling the outlines of your face. She brushed her lips along your jaw and down your neck, only planting the faintest of kisses, not nearly enough to quench your need.
The ghosting of contact was more tortuous than no contact at all. You opened your eyes in impatience, cupping her face.
Lucy clasped her fingers around your wrists, prying your hands from her face. “Keep your eyes closed.” The sweetness of her voice coupled with a reassuring squeeze of your hands managed to dilute your impatience.
“No, I want to see you...” It was astounding how much it sounded as if you were in a trance. “My beautiful muse…”
“No, darling… tonight, you’re the muse…”
The gift that those words brought you were decorated as she leaned in for a tender kiss. Somehow, despite your eagerness to kiss her, your lips failed to move much. Her lashes fluttered against your cheek and she turned her head, humming softly into your mouth. This beckoned your lips open, allowing her to deepen the kiss.
“Your eyes… Keep ‘em closed, lovely...” She mumbled in between kisses.
You did as she said, letting yourself reciprocate the kiss more, humming along with her.
Lucy trailed her fingers slowly down your body, making sure to graze every curve you were insecure about, and now could feel proud of. Every inch of you was hers.
When you felt her fingers beginning to glide under your pants, you broke the kiss, wanting to watch. When you opened her eyes, Lucy pulled on the elastic waistband of your pants and let it go, letting it snap sharply against your skin. You winced and met eyes with her.
“Keep your eyes closed.” A stormy deep blue lust misted in her eyes with her demand, though soon after, her brows arched, framing a pleading and sweet gaze. “Please… every time you make me feel beautiful I close my eyes and let you work your magic. It’s my turn now.”
You were frozen stiff at the words she said to you. “I… you…” You muttered in disbelief.
A quiet shush breezed through her pursed lips as she leaned in, beckoning you to close your eyes. Once you had, she pecked lightly on each of your eyelids before trailing her hand back where it once was. “There we are… Just relax…”
Lucy stroked your hair soothingly with one hand, her nails lightly grazing your scalp, serving as a distraction. You were more at ease as her other hand slid under the waistband of your pants, the cold of her fingertips beginning to wash against the heat of your core.
The arousal in your slick heat welcomed her. And once you stopped yourself from stiffening at her touch, her pace grew faster. You kept leaning forward to kiss her, your eyes remaining closed. She would kiss you only in brief sessions before pulling away. You could sense it was so she could watch as you came undone on top of her. Every inch of your face burned, picturing her eyes soaking every detail of it.
A succession of moans and sharp breaths followed every flourish of her fingers, her thumb sweeping against your clit as her fingers delved inside you massaging your walls.
“That’s it, lovely…” The heat from her breath clung onto your lips. You parted them to kiss her again, but knowing you were on the brink of release, she tipped her head back, eager to keep looking at you.
You yelped, wincing at the thrust of her fingers hitting the sweetest of spots, not allowing your growing sensitivity hinder her speed. The guttural moan that forced its way out your mouth would have embarrassed you if your head wasn’t spinning so much with excruciating bliss.
The violent rush that took over you made your posture and balance fail. You collapsed forward, pressing against Lucy and burying your head in the crook of her neck.
Lucy tugged lightly at the back of your hair, steadying your head up, making sure she could see you. “Look at me, don’t hide your face… I need to see you when you—”
A deafening moan silenced her and echoed across the apartment. Your eyes were still closed so you were oblivious to the proud, yet loving grin Lucy wore hearing you relish her every move. Her fingers moved faster against you letting you ride the waves of your orgasm for as long as possible.
She took in the sight of you. Your cheeks flushed crimson, your mouth opening and closing unsure whether to let out your moans or muffle them, your croaked voice whimpering her name as she slowed her speed. “Ah, there she is… my beautiful muse…” She whispered sweetly.
At last, you opened your eyes. You gave a weak smile upon observing her half-lidded eyes gaze up at you.
Lucy tilted her head, a sign of permission that you could kiss her. And you did. Sloppily, given the weakened state you were in. Although the rush of pleasure she gave you was no doubt perfect, having her body and lips pressed against yours properly was more than enough for you.
Lucy pulled away from your lips, burying her face in your neck, taking in your scent. You sat in her lap as she embraced you.
“May I wear this essence next time?” Her whispers vibrating against your collarbone.
You grinned weakly. “May it be the only thing you wear next time.”
you flinch during a fight | ben hardy x reader
a/n: hello! so i haven’t posted in like, 5 days? but i’m finally back :) honestly school is a bitch *sigh* but i hope you like this, i wrote this at school :D
MASTERLIST
warning/s: swearing
word count: 600+
EDITED
lately, your boyfriend ben has been coming home late after shooting. usually, he’d come home around 9 pm, but these days he comes home around 1 am, all tired and exhausted.
he doesn’t even greet you and kiss you when he arrives, he just mutters ‘i’m going to bed’ then goes straight to your shared bedroom. when you’d wake up, he’s already out. he doesn’t even bother leaving you a note.
and to be honest, it hurts you.
now, you were waiting at the couch for him to come home to talk it out. you wanted to sleep so bad because heck, it’s already 1 am. but you were eager to ask him these questions: does he still love you? is he falling out of love? did he find somebody else?
you lost your trail of thoughts when you heard the front door opening, a stressed-looking ben walked in.
you stood up, walking up to him. “ben, can we talk?”
he looks at you with tired eyes, and huffed out in annoyance. “can we talk tomorrow-”
“now.”
“please (y/n), i’m tired and-”
“ben, please-”
“(Y/N)!” he yelled out. “what part of ‘i’m tired’ do you not understand?”
you held in the tears that were threatening to spill out of your eyes. he never yelled at you like that.
“ben, do you even love me anymore?” you sobbed. “you don’t even greet me when you come home anymore. why? have you met someone new..?”
“god, (y/n). you’re overreacting.”
your jaw dropped. you? overreacting? how could he say that?
“ben-”
“(y/n), just shut up!”
he screamed, louder than before and you flinched, closing your eyes tightly, covering your face with your hands. “i-i’m sorry about the argument... just p-please don’t hurt me...” you whimpered as tears finally stream down your cheeks.
ben’s eyes widened. he would never, in a million years, hurt you.
when you heard footsteps walking up towards you, you backed away.
his heart ached at the sight infront of him. “love...” he held your hand and wiped your tears away. “look at me...”
you opened your eyes slowly to see his eyes glossing with tears. “b-ben i’m sorry-”
“no love... i’m sorry.” he choked out a sob and hugged you tightly. “please know that i will never, ever hurt you. you’re the love of my life. and god... i would never leave you for somebody else.”
you pulled away to see him crying, and it broke your heart. “i-i come home late and get up early b-because...”
“because... what?” you stared at his green orbs.
“because me and the boys were planning. i was planning to... propose, but i never thought it would make you feel like i was falling out of love. yes, it does make me feel tired and i’m sorry for neglecting you. i really am.”
your eyes widened. propose?
“ben, i’m sorry i don’t know-“
“no,” he puts a finger to your lips. “please, don’t apologize. i ruined this whole plan, god, i’m so sorry for being a useless boyfrien-“
“don’t say that, ben!” you wiped his tears away. “you’re the best boyfriend i could ever ask for, and even though we fight, i still love you with my whole heart.”
he smiled. “well, i guess...” he kneeled down infront of you, and pulled out a velvet box, opening it.
you gasped. it was the most beautiful ring you’ve ever seen.
“(y/n)... you really are the love of my life. you know me better than i do. i love you with all my heart and soul, and i’d do anything for you. now, i want to spend the rest of my life with you. will you marry me?”
you were out of words, but you were smiling so wide. you nodded vigorously, tears of joy spilling out of your eyes.
“words, love.” he joked, and you hugged him tight.
“yes!”
he slipped on the ring to your ring finger, and you laughed. “it’s so beautiful, ben.”
“i saw you staring at it when we were at the mall.” he kissed you forehead. “god... i love you so damn much.”
“and i love you.”
Chapter Seventeen
“So he said he loves you?” Savannah asked. You were sat in the middle of a bustling, hipster coffee shop in West London, nursing your mismatching mugs with stupidly small handles. You nodded.
“Have you talked about it since?”
You winced, “I tried to bring it up the other day but I chickened out. I knew he’d ask me if I loved him too.”
“And you don’t?”
“I definitely don’t not love him,” you pondered.
She scoffed, “That sounds promising. You two are so shit at communicating.” You began to protest but she just laughed, “You know I’m right! Look at how long it took for you two to get together ‘cause you couldn’t bloody talk to each other.”
Your face was heavy as you frowned, “This isn’t helping.”
“I’m sorry,” she conceded, “Tell me what you’re worried about.”
“I don’t know. I keep thinking about how I thought I was in love with Matteo, but when things got tough we fell apart, how do I know the same won’t happen with Ben? The shoot’s about to end, we’ve only got a week left and then everything’s going to change. I’ll be off on another project and Ben’s going to be back and forth to LA for a little while.” You sighed, “It’s just been so easy up ’til now, since we got together I mean. Even when it came out we were dating everyone was fine with it.”
“Apart from that arsehole Josh, right?”
“Yeah, well he’s shut right up now. I don’t know what Graham said but it worked. Anyway, I feel like we’re getting to the hard bit now. It’s gonna make it so much harder if I decide I love him.”
“That’s not exactly how it works, I don’t think you get to decide.”
You rolled your eyes, “You know what I mean.”
“You’ve got commitment jitters, that’s all.”
“How can I be scared of committing to Ben when I basically fell in love with him the second I saw him?”
She placed a comforting hand on yours, “You just need to give yourself time. It sounds like once you two finally got going everything moved pretty fast. It’s been a while since you did the whole ‘serious relationship’ thing, cut yourself some slack.”
“Ugh Savvy, how do you always know what to say? You’re so wise.”
“I know,” she smiled kindly, “Besides, you think you’ve got commitment problems, Chris keeps talking about having babies!”
The last week of filming went by frighteningly quickly, and all too soon it was the last day and you were at the wrap party, drink in hand and talking far too loudly. Ben had his arm around your waist, announcing to everyone that you were his. He had been delighted since it had come out that you were dating and despite your nerves, it had been a relief to you too. A few people had been skeptical at first, throwing judging looks at you, but as soon as they’d seen you together they could tell you were serious about each other. You were grateful that you didn’t have to hide, and even more so that Josh ignored you apart from throwing you the odd bitter stare.
“Can you believe that only four months ago we were playing ‘Never Have I Ever’ to get to know each other?”
“I know, it’s been the longest four months of my life,”  you said with a grin. “I can’t wait to get rid of you lot,”
“No way, you’re gonna miss us. I bet you’ll wake up every morning and cry at the thought of me being on the other side of the Atlantic,” Joe protested.
You sighed dreamily, “There’ll be a whole ocean between me and your dad jokes.”
“I’m gonna text you one every morning.”
“Then I’ll definitely cry,” you scoffed.
As much as you joked and bantered with the guys, your heart was heavy. In fact, the teasing was mostly to keep the mood light because you sensed that you were in danger of getting far too emotional about the whole thing and breaking down into tears at the thought of not coming into work every day and seeing their idiot faces.
“Well it’s fine for you and Ben,” Gwil interjected, “You guys will see each other all the time.”
“Actually I’ve only got three weeks until I’m off to Scotland for nearly four months for a film I’m doing up there. And then we have just over a month before Ben goes to Italy to start on his next film.”
“Ouch, I don’t envy you guys. It’s hard enough being in a relationship when one of you travels, but both is going to be tough!”
You didn’t need the reminder. “Plenty of couples do it.”
“You guys are basically going to be long distance for most of the year.”
You muttered under your breath, “Yeah, and who knows for how long after that.”
From the way Ben’s arm tightened around you you guessed he had heard, but made no mention of it.
“I’m more worried about me and you, buddy,” Ben interjected. “How’re we going to continue our bromance across continents?”
“It isn’t a bromance, it’s a full-on love affair,” you laughed.
“You’re the lucky one Y/N/N, at least you’ll be in the same country for a while.”
You challenged, “Babe, Scotland is a different country.”
“What?” cried Joe, “I thought it was like different states.”
“Christ, I hope you’ve never said that to a Scot.”
Through the course of the evening you danced a little and drank a lot, and cheered with your whole body when Rami and Joe dueted ‘Under Pressure’, but mostly you soaked up every second of all being together. The job had been such a joy and you could hardly bear the thought of it being over, so mostly you drank and joked to distract yourself, but you couldn’t help getting a bit contemplative as you and Lucy watched the guys play beer pong — Brits versus Americans.
You leant against a counter, glass in hand, as Lucy sighed, “God they’re idiots, the lot of them, but I am going to miss them.”
Joe had just performed a particularly distressing celebration after getting the ball in Ben’s cup.
“Are you worried?” you said suddenly, turning to face her. “Rami’s going back to the States, you’ll be in London…”
“No,” she said lightly, “I’ll be over there a lot for work anyway and Rami’s going to visit me here when he can. Anyway, We care so much about each other, we’ll find a way to make it work.”
“God, I wish I was that confident.” You turned back to see Gwil miss.
“You’ve got nothing to worry about, darling. If both of you want to be together, which you do, then you will. Ben adores you, we can all see it. You just need to have a little faith.”
You smiled and nodded, conceding that she was probably right and that fifth glass of prosecco was making you paranoid.
Once the game finished Ben came up to you and pulled you close, linking his fingers behind your back and pressing a firm kiss to your lips.
“Congratulations on winning,” you grinned.
“Thank god, hey? Otherwise Joe would have been insufferable.”
“Oi Y/N,” Joe shouted, “Stop hogging my boyfriend!”
You laughed loudly, “I could say the same to you!”
Ben nudged his nose against yours before nuzzling into your neck. “You’ll always be my number one, angel.”
By the end of the night you were all singing ‘I’ll Never Forget You’ by the Noisettes at the top of your lungs, holding back tears (some of you more successfully than others), and finished on ‘We Are the Champions’ just in case there was still a dry eye in the room. It was with great reluctance that you parted in the small hours of the morning and when you got into bed with Ben you held onto him tightly, determined to make the most of him while he was still at your fingertips.
———
Those three weeks you had together were bliss: with neither of you having too much work — just a few bits of research and the occasional meeting between you — you seemed to have the world at your feet. Days passed in lazy contentment, waking up late, spending an hour or two in bed (morning sex was usually involved, it being a new practice since the early starts had not previously allowed for it), taking Frankie for a walk in the crisp winter air, then cuddles, tea, Netflix, often more sex. Dinner dates, coffee dates, cultural dates dragging Ben around art galleries (despite his being an actor, you didn’t believe him for a second when he assured you that he loved it). You spent most of your time at Ben’s, only going home when you needed clean clothes and to wash your hair. You took it in turns to make dinner, and occasionally Ben would walk to the nearest bakery to buy you fresh pastries for breakfast before you woke up. You wasted time watching Ben play with Frankie, your heart swelling as you saw how much he loved her, and daydreamed about what a great dad he would make. It felt like bliss, like your life was a movie with every detail perfectly executed; you were in heaven.
As excited as you were to start your new job, by the time you were due to leave the next morning, the thought of tearing yourself away from Ben all but broke your heart.
“Can’t you stay?” he whined, ignoring the old rom-com that was playing on the telly, mostly just serving as background noise by then. “I’m sure they’ll manage without you.”
You scoffed, “What a rousing indictment of the value of my work.”
He glanced at you from where he lay on the sofa, Frankie curled up on his chest, snoring softly.
“Come on, it’ll break Frankie’s little heart if you go,” he whispered, covering her ears to shield her from the truth.
“When. Not if,” you said firmly. “She’ll be sad for a day and then forget all about me.”
He became distant as he whispered, “It’ll break mine.”
You snuggled down the sofa, squeeing yourself between him and the cushions and cooed, “No, it won’t. I’ll text you everyday and we’ll FaceTime and send each other dumb memes. And I’ll come home whenever I can.”
He cocked his eyebrow, “Home? Does that mean here?”
You smiled, “I guess it does.”
You turned back to the film but could tell Ben was distracted by the way his eyes roamed about the room, and he kept taking a deep breath in as if to speak, only to release it and retain his silence. Eventually you reached over to the remote and pressed pause.
“What’s up, Benny?”
For a while he was silent, composing his thoughts, and when he spoke he didn’t meet your eye.
“You know that thing I said a while ago,” he ventured, “when we were talking to Graham…”
You knew exactly what he was talking about and instantly felt your heart rise to your throat. You were nervous, partly because you feared he would be upset that you hadn’t said it back, and partly to hear him say it again. But mostly you felt adrenaline rushing through your veins; the rush of love. “Yeah,” you hesitated, your chest swelling like a ballon, full of anticipation.
“I meant it.” He distracted himself scratching behind Frankie’s ear. “I’ve been trying to bring it up over the last few weeks but it never felt like the right time. You always seemed so happy and I didn’t want to ruin it in case you weren’t ready to say it back. And don’t feel like you have to, I don’t want to rush you but I just need to say it, you know-”
You interrupted his rambling by placing you hand gently on his cheek.
He sighed, finally meeting your gaze. “I’m in love with you.”
His eyes were so round, so wide, so full of innocence and fear and hope. You could see the whole world in those eyes.
And all of a sudden it felt like you were floating, a balloon carrying you high above yourself. You smiled, a laugh bubbling sweetly from you. “I love you, too.”
Then you were both grinning like naughty children and he kissed you with absolute certainty.
He dropped you off at the airport the next morning and you were close to tears as you said goodbye.
“Text me when you land, okay?” he asserted and you assured him you would. In return he promised to give Frankie a kiss for you.
You thought you saw a watery hue in the green of Ben’s eyes but you blinked and it was gone. He held you closely, resting your cheek on his chest and his face buried in your hair. He kissed the top of your head, then your forehead, and you sighed heavily. You tried to take in every detail of his face — you almost felt silly, really, because it wasn’t like you were off to war and might never see him again. In fact you had already arranged to come back in six week’s time and you knew you’d FaceTime him almost everyday. Still, you absorbed the curve of his jaw, the roundness of his nose, his big lips, dimpled on each end, green eyes so pale in the morning light, the few golden curls peeking out from below his beanie. You memorised every detail as best you could.
“I’ll see you soon. I love you,” he purred, his tone soft but strong.
You smiled; it felt right hearing those words. It felt right to say them. “I love you, Ben.”
With one last kiss you turned away from him, stealing a glance before you headed to security only to see him watching you leave. You waved, and he raised his hand in reply, subdued, resigned. And you rounded the corner and he was gone.
Simply Having A Wonderful Christmastime (Lucy Boynton x fem!reader)
So, it's been a long time since I've written something. I know. I haven't forgotten about this blog, don't worry!! I'll work on another Lucy fic I have, and then I'll probably open requests again.
Without further a do, enjoy this little fluffy Lucy Christmas blurb I wrote!
Feedback here and on AO3 is very much appreciated!!
----
“And… Done!” Lucy said as she stood back to admire her work.
The tree was decorated so beautifully: ornaments placed neatly on each branch, a beautiful, shiny star on top, and the ropes of lights twinkling all over.
Your phone was on the kitchen counter as you baked the cookies, playing timely Christmas music as you pulled the tray of gingerbread out of the oven.
“The mood is right
The spirit’s up
We're here tonight
And that's enough”
“Looks great, right?” Lucy called out to you, getting your attention.
You raised your head up and turned towards her and the tree, and you couldn’t help but smile.
“Looks amazing, Luce.” You replied.
You set the tray on top of the stove, and walked over to her, apron and oven mitts still on.
“I love it so much. But not as much as I love you.” You gave her cheek a little peck.
She smiled and kissed you on the lips briefly in return.
“Everyone should be here in a moment.” Lucy chimed, excitement in her voice.
The music blaring from the speakers was interrupted by the text notification noise that you had set for Joe.
You walked over to the counter and checked your phone.
“On my way to the apartment. BTW, what should I get Lucy?”
“Anything she might like. I’ve bought her a pearl necklace, so jewelry is off the list.” You added an emoji conveying silliness to the text and sent it. Joe had been so busy with his new project that he had forgotten to buy everyone presents.
Suddenly there was a familiar voice yelling through the apartment door. “Hello?”
“Come on in, Rami!” You shouted out.
Rami walked in the doorway, holding some neatly wrapped packages and bags in his arms.
“Oh! Do you need any help with those?” You asked.
“No, thank you, I’ve got it.” Rami grunted as he struggled to hold all the parcels at once.
He finally found the counter, and placed the presents on it, careful not to drop any of them.
You rushed over to the kitchen, took your oven mitts off and helped Rami move the presents around, in order to avoid any of them falling over.
There was a knock at the apartment door, followed by a familiar voice. “Lucy? (Y/N)?”
It was Gwilym.
“Come in!” Lucy called out.
Gwilym came in through the door, holding a supply of snacks and drinks. “Merry Christmas!” he replied.
Ben was not too far behind, holding a load of presents. He peered over to the counter. “Damn it!” He exclaimed upon seeing Rami’s presents.
“Don’t worry guys, there’s still room for the presents on the counter, just hold on a second.” You chimed in.
Everyone was sitting around the coffee table, drinks in hand, cookies and snacks on plates in the kitchen, and all the opened presents on top of the table.
You opened the second to last present, which was from Ben.
It was a pair of Ana Luisa earrings. Gold hoops the size of rings one would put on their fingers.
You loved them, and you thanked Ben for them.
Everybody was aware that you had the last present hidden, except for Lucy.
“Is that the last of the presents?” Lucy asked, gathering discarded wrapping paper off the floor.
“Actually…” You began, getting Lucy’s attention and motioning her to sit down on the couch next to you.
“...there is one last thing that I have.”
You pulled a smaller, but not too small, box out of your dress pocket and handed it to Lucy. Her eyes widened.
“For me? Oh, (Y/N), you shouldn’t have!”
She took the box from your hand, and opened it.
The pearls of the necklace shone brightly in the Christmas tree lights.
Tears began to form in her eyes.
“Oh, (Y/N)! I love it! And I love you with all of my heart.”
She wrapped her arms around you and kissed your lips. The red wool of her sweater felt so good against your hands as you embraced her back.
“I love you too, Luce.”
     You’re dicking around mindlessly on your phone when your girlfriend Lucy waddles into your flat, her arms loaded with shopping bags.
    You leap to your feet with a confused, “Babe?” and hurry over to take some bags from her. “What is this?” you say, heaving some bags onto the kitchen counter. “I thought you were just getting coffee.”
    Lucy does the same beside you with a soft grunt. “Well, on the way home, I realised we needed some more milk, and then I thought, may as well.”
    You break out into a smile, rolling your eyes affectionately. “I can’t believe you,” you say, and Lucy grins.
    “Am I in trouble?” she asks with a giggle, scrunching her nose.
    “Oh, big trouble,” you say, taking her hands and pulling them behind your back, tugging her closer. “You know it’s my turn to do the shopping this week.”
    She shuffles closer still, so you’re nose-to-nose. “I guess I can’t help breaking the rules,” she says. “I’m such a rebel.”
    You hum in agreement. “Such a rebel.” You press your lips to hers, and she kisses you back eagerly.
    You pull away momentarily. “Don’t you have a fancy dinner to get ready for tonight?” you murmur.
    Lucy sighs, pouting. “Yes,” she mutters.
    You frown, letting her hands go to take her by the waist, searching her face. “What?” you say. “I thought you were excited for it.”
    “I was,” Lucy says despondently. “But it sucks that you won’t be there. I just want to stay here with you.”
    “Aw, babe,” you say, cupping her cheek with one hand, and she leans into your touch. You’ve always told her that her eyes seem to sparkle, no matter where or what time of day, and you’re reminded of that now as she gives you a sooky look.
    “You’ll have a good time,” you reassure her. “And it’s for a good cause!”
    “I know,” Lucy grumbles. “But charity dinners can be so awkward. It’s a bunch of people trying to show off how much money they have while trying to look all… humble and generous.”
    “Joe will be there,” you remind her. “You can’t leave him hanging.”
    “I know, I know,” she says again. “Just let me have a sulk about it, will you?”
    “Sorry,” you say, and peck her on the lips. “Sulk away.” You almost turn away to deal with the shopping, but she tilts her chin up expectantly, a cheeky little smile on her face, and you oblige, giving her another kiss. She pushes in closer to you, deepening the kiss, and slips her hands around the back of your neck, not letting you go.
    You know exactly what she’s doing, but it’s hard to say no, especially when she makes a soft sound and gently nips at your bottom lip.
    You tilt your head to deepen the kiss further, clutching her to you, and she responds in kind, letting her mouth drop open, brushing her tongue against yours.
    You love kissing your girlfriend. It’s probably your favourite thing to do in the entire world. You love every sound she makes, you love how needy she is, you love the feeling of her waist, her hips, under your hands.
    But you don’t like the milk going off because it’s been out of the fridge for too long. So, reluctantly, you break the kiss, drawing back when Lucy chases your lips.
    She blinks her eyes open, and pouts again. “Come back,” she says, and you chuckle.
    “Gotta unpack the groceries,” you tell her, and she lets you go with a heavy sigh. “Go get ready, babe,” you prompt her, peering into the shopping bags to find the milk.
    “I’ll help you first,” she offers, reaching into a bag, but you take her hand out and steer her away.
    “No more avoiding it,” you say, guiding her out of the kitchen. “Get ready.” You give her a firm pat on the bum, and she squeaks and laughs, then finally disappears down the hallway to your bedroom.
-
    It doesn’t take you long to put everything away, and you start preparing dinner for yourself. You’re just sliding the tray of chopped vegetables into the oven when Lucy reappears, presenting her outfit to you. “Thoughts?” she prompts, swishing her colourful dress this way and that.
    You close the oven and straighten up, taking her in. She looks stunning, of course, as she always does. “You look like a fairy,” you tell her.
    “I do?” Lucy grins delightedly. “Is my hair okay? And my make-up?”
    “Let me see,” you say, and she trots over to you. “Close your eyes,” you instruct, and she does. She’s gone for pale green eyeshadow, with glitter, and a healthy dose of blush. She’s curled her hair, and fluffed it up a bit, then tied it back in a half-up-do. The ribbon matches her dress.
    “Perfect,” you say.
    Lucy opens her eyes, and you fall in love with her all over again. “It’s okay?” she says. “I didn’t think I should bother getting a stylist for this thing, but I’m not that good at doing my own make-up and hair, so please don’t just tell me I look good to make me feel better.”
    “I’m not.” You drop a kiss to her cheek. “You look beautiful.”
    “Thank you,” she says, sounding relieved. “So do you.”
    You snort a laugh. “Very funny.”
    “Don’t laugh,” she says with a laugh of her own. “You do. You always look beautiful.”
    You wave her off with a flustered giggle. “Yeah, yeah.”
    “Babe.” She catches your hands, threads her fingers through yours. She waits until you meet her eyes, and then she says, “You do. And I love you.”
    “I love you too,” you reply immediately.
    You think about the ring you’ve hidden, the velvet box it sits in. But no, now’s not the right time.
    “I have to go,” Lucy says softly.
    “Have a good time,” you say.
    Lucy makes a disgruntled sound in the back of her throat, and leans in for a kiss goodbye. “I’ll tell Joe you say hi,” she says, and then she fetches her handbag and heads to the door.
    “I’ll save some dinner for you,” you call after her.
    “Thanks, babe. Love you!”
    “Love you too!”
    The front door opens and closes, and you’re left with your heart feeling warm, the big question playing on the tip of your tongue.
    One day. Soon. Just not tonight.
It had been snowing in non stop since I arrived in England to spend a week with Ben. Dear God it has not stopped since my plane literally touched down on the runway! Yet it hasn’t bothered me except when Ben isn’t around because he’s off reading for another movie. Not that I’m not grateful he’s off getting into more movies for himself and making his career better. Hells yeah for him for wanting to further his career. But when you live across the pond and can only see each other every so often. It kind of bums you out.
Tossing my book down onto the couch as I wrapped myself up in my blanket counting down the minutes till he came home from his read through. Dinner was already made since I wanted tonight to be just relaxing. Homemade chicken and noodles was exactly going to warm us up from all this stupid snow.
His dog Frankie climbed up onto the couch with me as he curled up into the blanket then tucking himself into a large ball. My fingers began scratching the top of his head as I was beginning to fall asleep with his soft breathing and the sound of winter frost blowing outside.
Before I completely passed out on his couch. Ben came bursting through the doorway with a large paper bag in his hand. It scared Frankie and I as we both almost fell off the couch. Frankie ran to him as he jumped all over him as Ben scooped him up in his arms. I shook my head a little so I would wake up and see what he was so excited about.
“Anne you would not believe what just happened!” He was bouncing off the walls with excitement as he placed the paper bag down on the coffee table then sitting next to me. Frankie was still attacking him with kisses then bouncing over to me to give me all kinds of kisses to me!
“I got the role!” He cheered as I put Frankie down on the ground so I wouldn’t hurt him on what was coming next.
“AH BEN!” I jumped on top of him to pecking my lips all over him till we now fell off the couch. Frankie jumped all over us till Ben pulled him into our dog pile laughed as we sat up in front of the couch.
“Told you they would absolutely love you!”
“I knew they would.” He smirked as I scooted closer to him then wrapping myself around him. He had his hands on my hips as his soft lips pressed against mine. Stopping myself to get a hint of his..was he working out?
“Ben why do you smell like a gym?” Dear God he smells like a very sweaty old man! Phew! Dear God he really needs some sort of bath!
“Part of the role was being able to crazy stunts and I ended up climbing up and down ropes. So I got a really great workout today because of it.” God he really stinks!
“Ben dear God you stink! I love you but damn!” Climbing off to walk into the kitchen as he got a grumpy look on his face that quickly turned into a soft smile. Are we having bath time? Dear God his bath is one of the best since it’s got jets across the wall, a small tv that hangs on the wall so we can binge watch Letterkenny while we relax, and enough room for a cheese plate!
“I’ll get the bath ready.” Well I’m hungry so I will be eating while were in the tub. Just not homemade chicken and noodles. For obvious reasons. Getting into the fridge to grab a bunch of cheese slices, grapes, and then the bottle of pink moscato for celebration! We still have two wine glasses from the other night so this is absolutely perfect!
Before I carried the tray into the bathroom. Frankie stood directly under me with his tail wagging waiting for a piece of my cheese! It’s getting close to his dinner time anyhow so I think a little peanut butter will hold him over in the end. Placing the tray down on the counter to grab his small bone from the floor then the peanut butter from the cabinet. Scooping a little of his favorite peanut butter to stuff it in his bone as he began bouncing around in excitement around my feet.
“Ah. Now you sit!” He immediately sat down for me to place his bone right in front of him. He grabbed it to wander off into the living room to start chowing down on his peanut butter bone. Now time for bubble bath!
“SHIT!” Ben yelled as I grabbed the tray of goodies to walk into the bathroom. Oh no what did he do now!? Please tell me we don’t have to buy him another phone! He and Joe once thought it would be a really good fucking idea to go skinny dipping while they were drunk. Problem is that skinny dipping meant just jumping into the closest body of water. So his phone was destroyed.
“What happened?” Asking as I walked into the bathroom to see that the bubbles in the jacuzzi were really getting out of control. Oh my god it looks so beautiful!
“No. I dropped the bubble maker and now the bathtub is going to be extra full. Damn it at this point it’s probably going to flood the entire bathroom.” And? Now our bathroom is going to smell like, what is it honey? Yes honey!
“So? Now instead of nothing, the bathroom is going to be smelling like honey and soap. Is that such a bad thing?” Placing the tray down on top of the sink as I immediately threw off all my clothes on the floor. Ben watched me as I sunk into the bubble covered jacuzzi. The jets were on low as the water was a little hotter than how I usually like it. Ben stripped down until he grabbed the tray of goodies to put right on the large corner.
He climbed down into the water as our feet entwined with each other as he turned up the jets to medium. One of them was hitting my back making me moan a little because god damn these are some wonderful jets. The bubbles kept rising as it hit the bottom of my chin, Jesus how much of the bubble liquid got out? I felt the plastic bottle floating around next to me, lifting it up to Ben as he nodded.
“There it is!” I tossed the bottle out of the tub. Shit he put the tray on his side of the tub! Hope we won't mind if I sneak over to grab some grapes. Moving from my spot in the tub to start moving towards him to we were face to face with each other. Almost about to kiss him as I moved past him to grab a grape and a cheese wedge.
“You’re a brat.” He giggled as he pulled me into his lap as the bubbles bounced around us. Jesus the stupid bubbles are still forming oh my god! Grabbing a bunch to place on the top of his head then snapping it to look like a Hershey’s kiss.
“Wait wait!” I began molding a bubble beard on his face then styling it with a nice mustache. He looked absolutely stunning!
“Ben! Picture perfect!” Looking over the edge to see my phone so I could take a picture of him and all his glory!
“If you think you’re leaving this tub without a beard you’re wrong.” Ben told me before I could even grab my phone. Smirking as I stood still for him to grab a hand full of bubbles. He began placing them all over my face trying to avoid my eyes and lips to form a Santa Claus beard on my face.
“Am I pretty yet?” He shook his head to grab more bubbles from the tub to place on top of my head. Except no Hershey kiss style hair, more like 70s Afro kind of hair.
“Now you’re gorgeous. Wanna watch the office?” I just binged watched season four while he was gone so I’m kind of feeling something a little more stupid. Not saying that the office is stupid because Creed is my spirit animal for as little time he has on screen.
“Letterkenny?” Asking as he grabbed the remote from the corner along with a cheese slice to turn on hulu. Dear God do I love Letterkenny. It’s one of the shows that’s so damn stupid that you have to love. Yes a few of the characters are a little wow but it’s so great.
Turning myself so I could scoot back into him with my back pressing against him so we could cuddle. My hand reached back for a small vine of grapes to chow down on a little. Oh my god it’s the Canadian Goose episodes yes! My absolute favorite episode out of the entire show.
“IF YOU GOT A PROBLEM WITH CANADA GOOSES YOU GOT A PROBLEM WITH ME AND I SUGGEST YOU LET THAT MARINATE!” I yelled along with Wayne because dear god I love this show! Ben squeezed me a little to then start kissing the back of my neck which made me giggle.
“Does everyone in Canada feel the same about Canada gooses?”
“Gooses! They’re beautiful majestic birds that must be protected at all cost! Born leaders and heroes!” I think I just watch this show way too much now at this point. Oh well. We went back to start watching the show as he began kissing my neck again then giving me another tight squeeze to make me giggle.
“Anne. You know I love you right?”
“No Ben. I’m naked in a bathtub with you because I consider us friends.” I have very bad sarcasm and I think it gets out of control sometimes.
“Alright smartass. But seriously. I want to ask you something because I know if I don’t I’ll regret it for the rest of my life.” I stopped eating my grape to turn around completely ignoring the show now. Please don’t tell me he’s going to propose because we haven’t discussed this part of our lives yet and I’m not sure if I’m ready!
“Anne you’re my world now and I hate the fact that we live so stupidly far apart. Move in with me. Or I can move over to America with you. I don’t like the fact that we only see each other for one of two weeks out of the month. Your the person I wanna wake up in the morning and go to bed with you at night. When you’re gone. Frankie and I are just an absolute mess without you! Ask Gwil because I do nothing but bug the living hell out of him whenever you go back home! Poor Frankie crawls under my bed until you walk into my apartment and you can’t imagine the sad look on his face when you’re not around!” No I’m not crying you’re crying! But sadly I can’t take him serious with the bubbles on top of his head and around his beard! I started laughing a little in this very serious moment.
“Are you making fun of me?” His voice cracked as I placed my hands through his bubble beard to give him a kiss. My lips continuing to peck him till he stopped waiting for my answer.
“Yes Ben. I’ll be your roommate for life. Only for Frankie because poor Frankie shouldn’t be suffering!” Frankie came running into the bathroom as he began trying to get into the tub with us.
“No Frankie that’s weird!” Ben laughed till he jumped into the empty spot of the tub for water and bubbles to go all over the place! He began splashing around in the tub with the bubbles flying all over the place, in the food, and more on Ben and I! I grabbed Frankie to get him out of the tub so we could get back to our bath time. Once out he stayed right next to the tub staring us down.
“Gonna be honest with you Ben, really don’t feel comfortable with Frankie watching us in the tub.” He turned off the jets as I pulled the plug from the drain.
“Fair enough. Besides. We now have all the time in the world for those pleasantries since you’ll be here for now on. Or they. Where exactly are we going to live now?” Good question.
“We’ll figure that out later. Homemade chicken and noodles tonight for dinner with some carrots?”
“Sounds absolutely delicious.”
Day 27: Roasting Marshmallows
pairing: Lucy Boynton x fem!reader
warnings: marshmallow fluff
words: 362
a/n: Lucy and marshmallows, what more could you want?
Last, Full List, Next
Tumblr media
❄️❄️❄️
When Gwil told you he was going to have a bonfire and get together in his backyard and was inviting everybody, you made sure to go to the grocery store and get supplies. You took your girlfriend, Lucy, with you.
“Babe, this is the third store we’ve been to,” she complained, tugging on your shirtsleeve.
“I know, I’m sorry, but I really want to find the graham crackers. I’m the only American that’s going to be there, I’ve gotta represent!” you told her, completely sincere with your enthusiasm.
She couldn’t help but smile, your attitude rubbing off on her, “Okay, well this one does have that ‘American’ section, so maybe they’ll have it.”
The two of you rushed over there, and to your great relief, they did, “Finally! Have you ever had a s’more anyway?”
“Ummm, I’ve toasted marshmallows, but I know you’ll say it’s not the same,” Lucy stopped you before you interrupted her. “So I’m very excited to have these. You’ll have to make my first one for me.”
“Can do, but then you have to learn too,” you told her, bumping her hip with yours.
___
That night, when the fire was roaring and everyone was bundled up in their winter clothes, you broke out all the supplies to cheers from your friends. The few that had made them before started making them, and the rest who were interested gathered around you for a little tutorial.
Once it was done, you gave it to Lucy to try and she immediately said, “Holy shit that’s good,” with her mouth full. The other excitedly went to make their own and you turned back to Lucy.
“Do you really like it?” you asked her, pulling her to you by habit with your fingers through her belt loops.
“Mmhmm, it’s so good, we’re definitely making these at home on the stove like every night now,” she told you, mouth still mostly full. You grinned, proud.
Lucy ate until her last bite and then offered it to you, placing it gently in your mouth and watching you eat it as she sucked the last of the marshmallow off the tips of her fingers. “Delicious.”
No turning back || Ben Hardy (SMUT)
Summary: Y/N’s had a crush on Ben for a while but they are just friends. What would happen if they were to confront each other about what they really feel, at last?
Pairing: Ben x fem!reader
Word count: 4.5 k+
Warnings: SMUT under the cut!, 18+, some language, protected sex (always stay safe folks), references to cheating, FLUFF hell yeah
A/N: sooo yeah. Here we are with another one shot and, guess what? Still about Ben! We love that British dork more than we should, don’t judge us, people. We hope you’ll enjoy, folks, let us know what you think.
Tumblr media
“You two are just made for each other, why don’t you just get on with it?!” Lucy spoke from the screen of your laptop.
You chuckled and shook your head, wishing you could agree with her “I already told you: you’re crazy, my friend”
“Bullshit, y/n, and you know it. Why don’t you just talk to him?”
You sighed “Because, last time I checked he had a girlfriend, and I don’t wanna mess around with anyone”
She rolled her eyes and smirked at you through the camera “C’ mon we both know that’s never gonna last and if you don’t act soon, you’ll miss your chance, doll” you see her becoming more serious “I don’t wanna see you get hurt like last time, that’s all I’m saying”
It sincerely moved you how deeply she cared for you. She had always had your back and always had been there for you through the good and the ugly, just like you had been for her.
Since you had started hanging out with her and her friends from work (almost a year ago, right after she had finished shooting Bohemian Rhapsody), she had always told you she had seen a spark fly between you and Ben since you first met each other.
Deep down you knew she was right: you had felt something strange going on with the butterflies in your stomach when the handsome Englishman had firstly shaken your hand. Something in his big green eyes, in the huge smile he greeted you with and the quick wink he gave you, had surely moved something inside you.
You had developed a small crush on him at first, but had never said anything to anyone. Anyone except Lucy, that had immediately understood everything and had started to root for the two of you to end up together.
You had soon become a part of their small group and they had welcomed you gladly, making you feel like a vital part of their small gang. The relationships you developed with all of them were different but special in every kind of way: you were sure you could always count on Lucy (your oldest friend) and now Rami, her boyfriend, for some advice or for a quiet and light-hearted evening in front of the tv or out drinking, but you had to admit you always had a blast when you hang out with them and the rest of the guys: Joe, Gwilym, Allen and Ben. When all of the boys were reunited they could give the best of themselves and always managed to make you crack up with both the silliest or most sophisticated jokes.
You were proud to call them all your friends.
But lately, things with Ben had become hugely more complicated.
Nearly six months into your acquaintance to the group, Ben had met Liza through a mutual friend and had started going out with her. In a matter of two weeks, they were together.
She was sincerely a nice girl and you couldn’t find a single thing that was wrong about her, not a single reason why they shouldn’t have been together. Lucy insisted she wasn’t worth half as much as you and that Ben honestly deserved better. And with better, she meant you, which usually made you either laugh or wonder if she was just saying that cause she was your friend.
“Ben’s just reasoning with the wrong end of his body”, she always repeated “You just have to wait till he realises that. Or else I’ll make him”
You always shook your head and smiled, but deep down, you hoped she was right. Your small crush had faded with the passing of months, segregated in a corner of your mind, and it’s not like you drooled behind him; however, you frequently found yourself wishing you could just for a moment, stop thinking and crash your lips onto his. Not to start anything serious, just to see what it’s like and to understand if the spark was just a spark or else, the possibility of something more.
“Anyhow,” Lucy’s cracking voice startled you from your thoughts. She was still on the other side of the screen “I’ll be at your place at 6, please be ready or I’ll tell Rami to start the car and drive away”
“I promise I will. Bye Luce”
Turning off your computer, you finished packing and turned on the shower. You and the gang had planned a weekend in Rami’s cabinet up in the hills to get away from the everyday life and stress. And obviously to drink everything you wanted without anyone having to drive.
Ben obviously wasn’t coming. He told you all he had plans with Liza, but everybody knew the truth. Liza was not completely fond of him hanging out with you. She didn’t know you had had feelings for him, or at least that’s what you knew; and yet somehow, as their relationship was growing, you realised Ben would always casually miss the seldom Saturday night out, just cause there would have been Lucy, Rami and the two of you.
Every now and then you felt like bursting out and standing up for your friendship, confronting Liza to tell her she had nothing to worry, that you would have not jumped on him when she wasn’t watching or stolen him from her. But you always clenched your fists and shut your mouth: if Ben really wanted to save your friendship, he would have talked to Liza to find a way.
It broke your heart thinking he did not care about you as much as you did about him.
When you arrived at the cabinet you immediately hugged Gwilym and Joe who were already there with some bags and boxes. You were ready to bet half of them contained alcohol.
You laughed “You realise we’re only here for, like, two days and a half, right? How much you intend to get us drunk?”
They chuckled and Joe answered for the both of them “You never know, y/n, we could be stuck here forever, we have to be ready”
You giggled and walked past them, following Lucy inside.
You all set up your rooms: Rami and Lucy in the main one and Gwilym, Joe and you in the guest room. You were not embarrassed of sleeping in their same room: they had basically become like older brothers to you and you knew they felt the same protective big-brother-y energy towards you.
After you all had dinner, the guys wanted to drive back into town: Allen had texted them there was a cool party at a friend of his.
“Guys we’re supposed to be getting away from the city, don’t you remember?” you protested, already dreaming of your comfortable pyjamas.
“Yeah” Joe answered “But they are giving away drinks and Allen said there’s quite a… fauna over there” and smirked to Gwilym, who smugly smiled and looked over to you.
“He had me at drinks, but that is a plus” he just added.
“You two are disgusting” you rolled your eyes.
Turning towards Lucy and Rami, you asked: “What do you think?”
“I think we should go, at least for the free drinks” Rami simply said, shrugging his shoulders.
“But we have plenty here!” you commented.
“Yeah but it’s not the same” Gwil jumped in and earned a fulminating look from you.
Lucy had been following your banter with the boys whilst texting on her phone. When she heard you stopped talking, she got up from the sofa to join you in the middle of the living room.
“I say we go,” she said.
You groaned in protest, while Joe and Gwil exulted and patted her on the shoulder.
“Why Luce? Just, why?” you asked.
She tried to hide a smug grin, “You don’t have to come if you don’t want to” she conceded with a smile.
You smiled gratefully “Thanks, Luce.”
“You can’t stay here alone, y/n” Rami commented “There are other houses but the closest one is down the hill, at least a mile away”
“I swear I won’t jump on the walls or off the balcony” you joked, Joe and Gwilym giggled. “C’ mon Rami, I can take care of myself”
“Yeah but in case of emergency-”
“-she’ll call us and we’ll be right back, right?” Lucy asked the other boys.
Gwil and Joe were nodding along and had weird, relaxed grins on their faces. You couldn’t tell if they were up to something or if they were simply impatient to go to the party.
Rami gave in with a sigh and reached for the car key “If you need anything, please just call” he said heading to the door.
“I will, dad” you mocked him and he softly chuckled, shaking his head.
“Don’t do anything stupid either” Lucy said on the threshold.
“I won’t, mom” you joked and held the door open for them to walk out. “At least not anything I wouldn’t do!” she shouted when she was already approaching the car.
You smiled and waved, closing the door behind you. You immediately slipped into the pyjamas you had been so long craving for and snuggled by the fire; the tv was showing an old movie and you could feel like dozing off after a few minutes, when you heard a loud knock on the door.
You frowned and looked at the clock: the guys had been gone for about half an hour. Could it be them already?
You looked outside and it was pouring rain. Wrapping yourself in a blanket and picking up an umbrella from the corridor, you approached carefully the door.
Heart beating fast in your chest, a ton of scenes from horror movies passed through your head and for a moment you were not sure whether you were dreaming or awake.
The knock repeated itself and you jumped for the surprise. You put your hand on the handle and pulled the door open.
In the dim light of the street, a wet and chilly Ben was trembling.
“What in the bloody hell took you so long?” he shrieked, passed you by and through the door, heading to the kitchen.
Still a bit startled, you closed the door behind you and followed him.
“You’re wetting Rami’s floor,” you said, while we put the kettle on and opened some cabinets, probably looking for tea “He won’t be pleased”
“Yeah yeah, this is like a second home to me now” he answered “I’ll clean up”.
You watched him fidget with the box of tea and softly chuckled: his fingers were so cold he couldn’t even open it.
He lifted his gaze, smugly smirking “Does this seem funny to you? I’m freezing”
You nodded “Yeah it’s funny” you got closer, still giggling, and took it out of his hands.
“Thanks” he mumbled.
You smiled “Why are you so freezing?”
He sat on a stool “I parked the car down the hill, cause I know Rami always parks here. Where is his car anyway?”
You opened the box and took out to cups from the cabinet “They all went to this party Allen invited us to”
"That's weird, I texted Lucy and she told me you were all here"
That minx, you thought. Now you knew why she had told you that you could just stay here: she had orchestrated everything to get the two of you to spend some time alone together.
You didn’t know whether to thank her or insult her.
He frowned. You could feel his gaze on you “Why are you not there?”
You shrugged “Didn’t feel like going” you met his eyes and gave him a small smile “I wanted to stay home and help chilly night wanderers”
He softly chuckled “Guess it’s my lucky day then. Thank you by the way”
You smiled looking at what you were doing instead of his deep green eyes. Something in his gaze made you feel weird, like some kind of tension had fallen between the two of you in an instant.
You shrugged the feeling away. “It’s nothing”
You saw him straightening his spine with the corner of your eye.
“Why are you here?” you asked sheepishly.
He joined his hands on the table and sighed while staring at the surface of the wooden table “We had a small fight”
He didn’t have to say who was we. It was clear he was talking about Liza.
“A small fight and you drive 60 miles away in the middle of the night?” you corked an eyebrow.
He glanced over at you and snorted “Okay, it was kinda a big one”
“Ben?” you inquired, a smile on your face to mock him “What did you do?”
He huffed but did not return the smile. He just looked down at his hands and reached for the cup you had prepared for him. You pulled it out of his reach, now seriously worried something had gone wrong.
“Ben” you repeated, “What happened?”
He looked up at you: his green eyes a strange mixture of emotions.
“I told her I meant to come up here and spend some time with you guys. She told me she wasn’t totally on board with it…”
Because I’m here as well, you thought.
“…I told her she could come as well but she didn’t want to and so…” he hesitated.
“So… what?” you asked, taking a seat beside him on a stool.
He turned to face you and sighed again “I asked her what she expected me to do, if she wanted me to stop seeing my friends just because…” he stopped to sigh again and never continued that sentence.
Instead, he continued “I might have told her she couldn’t control my life like that… We ended up shouting things to each other and well…”
“Oh Ben…” you placed your hands on your face, rubbing your eyes and shaking your head “and you run out to drive up here?”
He shifted his gaze back to the table, silently answering your question.
“You are a dick,” you said, before letting out a soft chuckle and swiftly covering your mouth with a hand.
He turned his head to you “I’m the dick? She’s the one trying to control my life and the people who are in it…”. Unable to stand your gaze, he moved it back to the table, slightly shaking his head.
“Yeah, but you need to work things out if you still want to call her your girlfrie-”
“What if I don’t want to anymore?” he uttered, startling you and making you shift in your seat.
“What?” you asked in a low voice.
“No” he brought his hands to his face and angrily rubbed his eyes, just like you had done earlier “Ugh! I don’t know… I don’t know why it’s all so complicated right now…”
He turned to face you the instant you did the same: you felt your heartbeat race faster, you were so close you could smell his cologne.
“Do you think I'm being out of my mind here?” he leaned in to place a hand on your thigh, his eyes fixated in yours.
Somehow you had forgotten how to breathe. You caught his gaze shifting from your eyes to your lips, then back again to your eyes. You were now sure of the redness that had surely sprung among your cheeks.
“I-” you started, but didn’t know how to finish the sentence, your brain blanking every 0.2 seconds, due to lack of oxygen.
“You what?” he whispered, constantly inching forward.
You both knew how it was gonna end, but neither of you had the strength to stop it.
It was inevitable.
You had wanted this moment to happen for so long, you found it hard to back down now. And from the way Ben was acting, you were pretty sure he had all the intention to let it happen.
“What are you -” you started again, but you couldn’t complete the sentence.
Ben’s lips crashed into yours and you soon felt his cold hands on your cheeks. The kiss only lasted a few seconds and when you pulled away, Ben’s eyes were indecipherable.
You turned towards the table again, propping your elbows on the surface and bringing your hands to your face.
“No Ben, you can't do this" you started “We can't do this. Not while you're still with her. It's not right”
You felt his hand on your back “y/n, I really don't think we'll get back together. At least, I don't want to”
“Did you break up?”
He hesitated “Well, no but -”
“Then you’re still together! I don’t wanna get in the middle of anything” you stated.
“You already are, y/n” he replied, your gaze swiftly shifting to his eyes, waiting for an explanation.
He huffed “You seriously cannot tell me you have not noticed”
You frowned “Noticed what?”
He widened his eyes “C’ mon, y/n, don’t be elusive…”. He realised you didn’t know what he was talking about; he continued “I must be a better actor than I think I am…” he chuckled, shaking his head.
He locked eyes with you “I can’t stop thinking about you, y/n. I tried, seriously, but I don’t know how to stop. I try to avoid being alone with you because I don’t know how to control myself.”
A shiver ran down your spine, hearing all the words you had hoped to hear him say. You tried to hide a smile: that was indeed a turn of events.
He smiled "Look, I have no idea what I'm doing here," he whispered leaning closer again “but I know I want to find out what this is all about”
You swiftly turned to him, to look at him in the eyes, trying to read them.
“I feel like something bad will happen if we keep looking at each other like that” you suggested.
Ben softly chuckled, before whispering “…or something good, depends on perspective”
You found again very close to his lips and you knew he was staring at yours. You kissed him quickly, as to remind yourself what it felt like.
He smiled widely and kissed you back again, the kiss lasting a bit longer this time. You pulled away again, looking at his eyes one more time: they were smiling, just as much as his lips and you knew he was just as much excited as you about this.
Almost simultaneously you crushed your lips together, your hands flying into his blond hair and his finding quickly your jaw and neck. You parted your lips to give him better access and he deepened the kiss. It was heated, passionate and heavy of all the tension you had stored through the past year.
He slid a hand down to your waist and pulled you closer, making you jump down the stool and inch towards him, between his legs. Your hands roamed on his back, while he had one behind our neck and another on your waist. You pulled away to catch some breath and stared into his eyes to ask him what you were doing.
He jumped down the stool: as an answer, he grabbed you again and started back where you had left. Transported by the kiss, he guided you towards the corridor and into the nearest room. He opened the door with his back, without even letting you slip out of his grip.
“You have no idea how long I’ve been waiting for this” he whispered to your ear, after pulling away from your lips for a second.
“I know” you replied, bringing your hands to his chest, part of you wanting to keep him close, the other wanting to push him away "Me too".
You were awfully aware what you were doing was far from the right thing to do, let alone the right moment to do it. Ben was technically still with Liza and you knew he was technically cheating on her. With you.
But when he roamed his hands on your back, hugging you tight and kissing you passionately, the outside world faded away instantly and it was like you were in your own world, where only the two of you existed.
You slid your hands down his still partially wet t-shirt and slipped them under it. Ben helped you getting it over his head. You took a moment to caress his chest and abdomen, admiring his muscles before looking up to his eyes.
His cold hands played with the hem of your sweater: you tossed it on the floor, revealing your bare chest, and you grinned widely when you heard him gulping. He leaned down to kiss you again passionately, guiding you towards the bed and making you lay down, quickly hovering you.
He searched for your eyes for a moment, trying to read your emotions. You propped yourself on your elbows to kiss him softly. “You know there’s no turning back from this?” he asked “For our friendship I mean”
You lifted an eyebrow “I’m currently laying half naked underneath you, I think we can safely say our friendship is ruined”
He softly chuckled, letting out what you thought to be one of the best sounds you had ever heard. Your heart ached at how happy you felt in that very moment.
“What do you mean you don’t flash all of your friends?” he joked.
“Only Joe and Gwil” you answered in tone, making him gulp harshly again.
You chuckled and cupped his cheek, kissing his jaw right afterwards “I’m kidding”.
He hushed a groan “I sure hope so”
He looked again into your eyes, more serious this time, silently asking for permission to continue.
You smiled “I’m ready when you are”
He smiled back, leaning down to cover your body with his and kissing you again, before moving to your jaw and to the crook of your neck. You hushed out a moan when he started kissing your skin, leaving small red marks under the earlobe.
"Ben," you whispered not exactly knowing what to say next. Your mind was inebriated by him.
"Mmmh" he mumbled on your skin.
You were shivering from all the emotions you were feeling, inebriated by his scent and by the knowledge you were actually that close to him. Never in your wildest dreams, you would have imagined he had felt the same the whole time.
You were gleaming with joy and you couldn’t stop a smile to form on your face, as Ben kept on kissing your neck and chest.
He caught your smile and stopped to ask, smiling himself “What’s that smile?”
“I just can’t believe this is happening,” you explained “now please kiss me again”
His smile widened as he leant down to meet your lips, his hand sliding down your body to toy with the edge of your pants, slowly pulling them down.
He wasn’t teasing, he just wanted to take his time to savour every moment.
You smirked in the kiss and moved a hand from his neck to the other edge of your pants, helping him to pull them off and toss them on the floor.
The heat of the room had increased exponentially in the last few minutes and you felt a pleasant heat spreading down your spine and between your legs.
Your hands flew to his belt and you fidgeted with the buttons of his jeans. He knelt back and undid them himself, discarding them on the floor afterwards.
He came down to hover you again, kissing your jaw and nibbling at the skin between your breasts. You loudly sighed and tightened the grip on his hair, the other hand drawing patterns on his back.
You could feel him against your thigh from underneath his boxers, the sensation bringing even more excitement down at your core.
Using an elbow to perch yourself, you rolled the both of you over the bed, so that now he had his back laying on the mattress and you were straddling him.
He smiled at your sudden initiative and cupped your cheeks to kiss you again and bring you closer to his chest.
Laying on top of his body, skin on skin, kissing the air out of your lungs was probably one of the best feelings you had ever experienced.
Almost accidentally you brushed your hips against his boxers, drawing a whimper from Ben’s lips. When you parted for a moment, his eyes were dark and lighted by a spark of excitement. Grinning, you repeated the move, earning another hushed whimper from him.
“If you keep doing that, I won’t be able to hold back” he said, suffocating a groan.
You smirked “Then don’t”
His eyes lit up with excitement a crooked smile propped up on his lips. He rolled you over again and slid his hands underneath the elastic band of your panties, slowly pulling them down, his eyes locked into yours.
You instantly reached for his underwear and tugged at the hem of his boxers. You could see how surprised he was by your initiative, which shocked him every time.
As he got rid of his underwear as well, he knelt on the mattress, a light-hearted grin on his face.
“Are we really doing this?” he asked with a smile, adjusting the condom on. There was no trace of doubt in his voice: he was just as incredulous as you were to the fact that you were finally exploring your feelings for each other.
Smiling, you sat up on the bed to reach his face and cup his jaw with your hands.
“I think we might just be” you whispered with a smile. He smiled back, placing his lips on yours and laying you down on the mattress, his body covering yours and your lips still locked to each other.
Without further notice, you felt him align himself with you and slid inside. Simultaneously you inhaled sharply at the new sensation. You wrapped your hands around his back, as he placed small sloppy kisses down your neck and on your shoulder.
Ben started at a slow pace, steadying himself by perching on his elbow by the side of your body, as you gently caressed his arms. Neither of you dared to talk, to caught up in the moment to even articulate a sentence: you were taking things slow, not wanting the moment to end. It went on like that for a while, Ben slowly thrusting in and out, his lips locked with yours at every movement he made.
The whole cabin was quiet and the silence was interrupted every once in a while only by your hot breaths and muffled moans and by the crackling of the fireplace.
You collapsed next to each other, Ben’s arm wrapped around your waist and your head on his shoulder. The soft blankets were barely covering your bodies as you stared at the ceiling with a huge smile on your face.
“No turning back, uh?” you asked hesitantly, breaking the silence.
He turned his face, searching for your eyes and smiling.
“No turning back.” he said inching forward to kiss you once more.
