On September 25, “The Westminster Gazette” ran a story about “A Hampstead Mystery” in which children disappear during the evenings, lured away by a mysterious lady, who it turns out to be is the un-dead Lucy. The disappearances occur around Hampstead Heath.

LUCY WESTENRA ~ AGE: 31 ~ OCCUPATION: POLICE OFFICER

IN A PAST LIFE:

Lucy Westenra was a wealthy socialite and the best friend of Mina Murray. She was known for her beauty and her infectious personality, and she had at least three known suitors who campaigned for her hand in marriage. However, her life was irrevocably changed when she became the target of an ancient vampire, Count Dracula. Gradually, despite the best efforts of those around her to save her, she was transformed into a vampire herself. At that point, there was no hope left for her, as she gave in to the bloodlust, and ultimately was killed by the vampire hunter Abraham Van Helsing. Upon her death, she was transported to the town of Chicanery.

HERE IN CHICANERY:

Lucy was born into an upper-middle class family, and for most of her youth she lived a charmed life. However, this changed after the death of her father. He died under mysterious circumstances, and many suspected it to be murder; but nothing was ever proven. This affected Lucy deeply, and gave her a strong sense of justice that she’s carried over to this day. In order to help them cope with the loss, she and her mother relocated to the small town of Chicanery, and have lived there ever since. Lucy spent a period of time putting her mother’s wellbeing as her first priority, but eventually, on her mother’s advice, she was driven to pursue a career of her own. As a result, she’s since joined the Chicanery police force. 

WHISPERS AROUND TOWN:

Lucy works directly under the town’s police chief Larry Talbot, and alongside FBI informant and temporary officer Clarice Starling, both of whom she has a good relationship with. She formerly had a romantic relationship with Vladimir “Vlad” Dracula, which came to an end a while ago, but there may still be some lingering feelings for each other between the two. She’s met Vlad’s friend and business partner Abraham Van Helsing in passing before, but they aren’t close, and Lucy feels uneasy about him for reasons she can’t quite place. She often has to rein in the town’s problem youth, such as Garrett “Ghostface” Teller and Beau “Beetlejuice” Jaegar. While she isn’t keen on Ash Williams or Jennifer Check either, she likes their companion Anita “Needy” Lesnicki just fine.

Lucy Westenra is a fictional character in the 1897 novel Dracula by Bram Stoker. The 19-year-old daughter of a wealthy family, she is Mina Murray's best friend and Dracula's first English victim. She subsequently transforms into a vampire and is eventually destroyed.
