One thing I've always found funny about Lufia II is how Selan is built up as the greatest swordsman (swordswoman?) in Parcelyte, and then she turns out to be the magician of your party.
Which says a lot about the entire Parcelyte army...
Finished a commission for a dear Discord friend! Featuring some of their favourite characters: Pikachu, Maxim from Lufia II, and Amaterasu from Okami ♡
IT'S FINISHED! I whipped out another dead guy banger remix: this time from what is possibly my favorite composition ever, the third movement to Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata.
Made as another bossfight theme for my friend's early access dungeon crawler roguelike inspired by the Ancient Cave from Lufia II. Enjoy <3
Artea! My other other favorite character! I've previously always drawn him based on the Lufia II manual art... because I've always drawn him in Fortress of Doom era, and that design best fits his vibe in that game. This time, though, I went for something based on his Lufia II sprite and his Estpolis I manual art. All of his SNES designs are pretty great honestly....
Albert Odyssey is released in march 1993, carrying with it the first verified buster sword, which may have been a corruption of "bastard sword"
june 1993, Lufia is released in japanese. I'm fairly sure it contained a buster sword, because the english version would do so later on, and this was before buster swords were widespread
october 1993, Shining Force II releases, featuring a buster sword.
december 1993, Lufia releases in english. it has a buster sword in the english translation, and although I haven't checked the japanese text to be sure, this is the first instance I'm aware of with an english buster sword. it's also possibly the basis for translators keeping it in future games
Lufia II releases in 1995 in japanese and 1996 in english, featuring the same buster sword from the first
january 1997, FFVII releases, featuring the buster sword to end all buster swords and launching the name into the pop culture consciousness forever
Shining Force III is released from december 1997-1998 in japanese, featuring a bastard sword in place of the buster sword, indicating that the usage of buster sword in Shining Force II was likely an error
Lufia II concert again in Japan! October 14th 2023.
PS: There will be a Lufia fanmeeting after the concert. Music Composer Yasunori Shiono and Series Director/Scenario Writer Masahide Miyata will also attend the fan meeting!
I randomly decided to look up the manual for Lufia II, and gosh don't you remember the era of video games where the manuals would just flat-out lie about game mechanics?
"Increase AGL to avoid attacks!" quoth the manual of a game without an actual accuracy mechanic~
