I randomly decided to look up the manual for Lufia II, and gosh don't you remember the era of video games where the manuals would just flat-out lie about game mechanics?
"Increase AGL to avoid attacks!" quoth the manual of a game without an actual accuracy mechanic~

which RPGs (that aren't by Atlus) do the cast members of SMT1 play? Hero, Yuriko, Law Hero, Chaos Hero, Heroine, STEVEN, Ozawa, Gotou, Thorman, Alice, Count Red, Count Black, Louis Cypher, Yama, Echidna... I definitely forgot some characters but you get the idea
I can appreciate the ambition of this ask. Imagine if I had a funny or satisfying response to the question "which RPG would Echidna play?" just locked and loaded
anyway they would all play lufia II: rise of the sinistrals

Hace 13 años fue lanzado Lufia: Curse of the Sinistrals.

Lufia II: Rise of the Sinistrals
Lufia II: Rise of the Sinistrals
Developer: Neverland    Publisher: Natsume    Release: 08/31/96   Genre: RPG The SNES was home to many late generation RPG classics like Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy VI. While it paled in comparison to what Japan was receiving as late as 1997 considering the climate for the genre at the time we were grateful for everything we got. But by 1996 as the SNES was winding down the epics became few.…

That time Nintendo forgot to take out some crosses. XD
I first mentioned this here: http://adrastiana.tumblr.com/post/44765059384/some-lufia-2-stuff
Nintendo censored the crosses in the US version Lufia 2. I assume PAL versions were similarly censored. Back then it was policy to censor any overtly religious images or references. So all the churches had their indoor and outdoor crosses removed. However, they failed to edit the ruined town tile set. So every town that’s been destroyed still has a church with a cross intact. Oh Nintendo! XD
So here we have a screenshot of a censored church. I forgot where I took it. But they all look pretty similar give or take..
Tumblr media
Behind the priest you see something like a tablet or obelisk with some sort of writing on it. It’s generic enough to not be offensive.
Now here’s a ruined town. This is Aguro.
Tumblr media
And lo and behold a cross! I can’t believe that this little oversight went unnoticed. Especially since several towns end up getting destroyed.
I believe that Aguro is the town where Maxim and Iris pray at the church’s altar for the souls of the dead townspeople. So a scene with that much religious impact went totally untouched because someone forgot to edit this tile set.
Now here’s Gordovan, where the survivors are trying to rebuild. So the town is still populated.
Tumblr media
Nice going there. Failed censorship is the best censorship. I love it. XD
Also, that kid looks like Hatsune Miku.
And I’d just like to add one more thing...
Tumblr media
There are crosses on both sides of the 6th floor of Gordovan West Tower. They’re very obvious so I’m thinking they aren’t just a coincidental tile pattern. Guess these got missed too.
I think there was also a puzzle somewhere with a cross of blocks? I’m not sure where it is. That one may have been censored. There may be more hidden crosses though. I haven’t played this game in a few years so I’m not entirely sure.
