thinking about Vex and Vax protecting each other in their own little ways
Vax takes the physical brunt of everything. Nothing ever touches Vex if he can help it, but he often gets severely injured while shielding her
Vex stands up for Vax in arguments and shuts off her own emotions when he needs her to hold him together, stunting her own emotional development so that Vax never has to hide his tears
Vax making dodgy deals that keep Vex safe, but that puts his own life in jeopardy without a second thought
Vex running in with reckless abandon to save Vax with no thought for anyone else, endangering everyone to protect her twin
Vax redirecting Syldor's anger onto himself to protect Vex from as much of it as possible, ultimately hurting her more because she has to watch him suffer for her
Vex growing to hate their mother for letting this all happen to her kids, to Vax, and Vax being hurt by it
the twins would do anything for each other, including killing others or actually dying
Once upon a time they were somewhat carefree kids with a safe, loving home
Now they are trained hunters relearning how to live after surviving many horrors
But don't think about hurting either of them for a second
Because where one goes, the other is never far behind...
And they will do ANYTHING for their beloved twin

December 2, 2021 (The day after the server shut down)
I didn't have time to write yesterday. I had to figure out where to go after I escaped. It's not ideal, but I found a town near where I landed. It's called Lynia. There's these caves around it that nobody uses. I looked around inside of one, and it seems safe enough to stay in for now. I don't have a blanket, but I did bring my Elytra, which kind of works. Hopefully nobody sees me with it.
I just noticed that when I landed here, my body changed back to normal. It's not stitched and a different colour anymore, and my hair is brown again. I'm okay with it, but something about the stitch body just feels more like what I'm supposed to look like, y'know?
Anyway, I'll have to explore Lynia at some point. Being at I just realized I have no idea what the other world is called. I never bothered to call it anything but "this world" or "here". Maybe it's time I give it a name... Give me a second.
I think I'll call it... Flamespire. No idea how I thought of it, really. Just something about that tree at the spawn makes me think of fire. And our clan WAS called The Burning Flower, so it's fitting.
I'll have to explore Lynia sooner or later. I've been at Flamespire for ages. Four and a half years, if I'm counting right. And.. crap, I never really counted my age, did I? Let's see, I turned 6 in 2013... and now it's 2021... that's 8 years... 6+8=14. I'm only 14??? I guess I look the part, but it feels like ages ago. And I have a wife. I don't even know what country I'm in or what the age of consent is. And highschool, too! I never even finished middle school! People would probably find it strange if they saw a teenager outside of school during those hours... Maybe if I study, I can come by in January. I'll probably have to talk. I guess I can talk. I've talked for four and a half years, I can talk now.

I've not been watching Campaign 3 for a while now, but Twitter and Tumblr have been feeding me crumbs...
Now, an idea has sprung up in my head that I want to explore, but I don't know if I will write for it yet.
I mostly write for Vox Machina, I find that dipping my toes into writing for the other parties makes me uncomfortable, but this fic wouldn't be so bad.
Idk, maybe some day.
But here's sort of how it would start, i guess?
SPOILERS FOR CRITICAL ROLE CAMPAIGN 3 FROM AT LEAST EPISODE 51 ONWARDS
Thinking about Vex suddenly being startled by a feeling in her chest that she hasn't felt for a very, very long time.
She's concerned immediately, but for the wrong reason.
What sort of pain is this? Did she need a cleric?
Then it hits her.
But that can't be right…
Then the amulet goes off, the dragon tooth one Keyleth gifted to her oh-so long ago, from where it rests on her necklace stand.
She snatches it at once and rushes to find her husband, her chest aching more than ever, and finds Percy as he jumps out of his armchair in his study clutching at the amulet around his own neck.
Knowing the other is safe, they quickly rush to check on Pike, who was here to train Gwendolyn healing magic and emergency aid techniques.
Pike is fine, and her own amulet is back at home, so Vex & Percy's sudden and frantic appearance startles her and Gwendolyn.
When Pike is informed of what's happened, she immediately scries on Grog.
Grog's fine, he's been off doing Grog things, but he's stopped upon realising his amulet is doing that weird thing again that it hasn't done since... Well. In a long time.
They try to check on Scanlan next, but there's interference now - it's alright though, because he's suddenly appearing in a puff of purple magic looking terrified.
That just leaves Keyleth and Taryon then…
Pike tries to scry again, setting her target to Keyleth, but she just can't get through.
Scanlan admits he had struggled controlling his magic when coming here, which concerns his friends greatly - what was going on?
Still determined to try and check on the others, the group gathered some supplies before trying to teleport to grab Grog from out in the woods nearby…
But that's not where they end up. Instead, they find themselves ending up all the way in Emon of all places.
Scanlan is embarrassed, assuring them it isn't his fault, but the group's attention is soon turned to the sky.
A light is shooting into or out of the moon known as Rudius... That can't be good.
They rush to find Allura, who is franticly scrambling around her tower while Kima and Gilmore argue off to the side.
Magic is broken, divine and arcane... Uh oh.
And now these three pillars of magical strength Vox Machina have looked up to for years are now more terrified than Vox Machina has ever seen them before.
Something was happening.
Today's the solstice, right? Wasn't Keyleth doing something related to that?
They need to get to Zephrah, but they don't know how.
Was Keyleth safe? Was it her who set the amulet off?
It's stopped flashing by now... But they don't feel like she's been lost... Is she okay now?
That feeling in Vex's chest has also subsided, but Vex has no idea what that was. (She does, but she refuses to believe such a silly idea.)
The group had to rangle horses, but they eventually set off for Keyleth's home to find some darn answers.
After Zephrah, they can try to find Grog and maybe go look for Tary over in Wildemount.
It takes longer than they'd like, but they get there only to find out she isn't here.
She's in Marquet, actually, dealing with a huge thing that they can't know about.
Keyleth didn't want them worrying about her, of course, but Zephrah could help them get to Marquet via tree.
This magic works, at least.
So they get to Marquet, but they don't really have much to go on, though whispers and rumours direct them there.
Everyone there is dead when they finally arrive, a large machine now dormant.
Black feathers are scattered everywhere, laying in pools of different coloured blood.
Keyleth isn't here, but fallen Ashari soldiers are dotted around the ruins of whatever catastrophe happened here.
They need to find Keyleth.
Vex takes one of the mysterious black feathers and tucks it into her hair.
After searching and searching, they find some first aid supplies and empty potion bottles by a tree big enough for Tree Stride.
They hope this means Keyleth got home, but it means they missed her... Frustrated, they investigate some more.
Percy is curious about the machine but can't figure out how it once operated.
Satisfied they didn't miss anything, the group began the long journey back to Emon and across the sea.
They finally get back and report to Gilmore and the ladies, who are all deeply troubled by the news.
Vox Machina then disembark once more, heading for Zephrah once again.
This time, when they arrive, Keyleth is home - and she's in the worst state any of them have ever seen her in.
Hurt, using her staff as a crutch, she's beside herself with toe-curling anger.
That is, until she sees the innocent black feather in Vex's hair and breaks down.
There is so much to tell them.
There is so much to do.

decided to go back over my fey flecks headcanon and flesh it out somewhat more, so don't mind me...
FEY FLECKS
Creatures born in The Fey Realm almost all have one trait in common besides the obvious - all of them with eyes have fey flecks.
Fey flecks are an interesting phenomenon where the iris has floating artefacts that resemble glitter, or bits of metal shards, harmlessly swimming around the pupil.
The genetic mutation does not harm your vision and appears to be merely visual.
At one point in time some scientists decided to dissect fey eyes to learn more about them and what causes them, dissecting eyes from many different specimens native to The Fey Realm during this investigation.
During the investigation it was found that fey eyes have thin membrane sacks covering the front of them.
These sacks are split into three sections by thin walls made of more membrane, one section covering the sclera, one covering the iris and lastly one covering the pupil - each segment being filled with a protective liquid.
The liquid is as clear and thin as pure water is, with a salty smell and taste to it.
The scientists believed this liquid could be the same liquid that tears are made of, but the technology at the time of their investigation was unable to confirm this.
In fact, unlike tears, this odd fluid appears to both boost dark vision in fey creatures while also simultaneously keeping their eyes from drying out in harsh climates.
Another interesting question regards the fact that the sclera and pupil sections have no artefacts in them, while the iris section has these so-called fey flecks.
There is no solid theory on what causes the bizarre flakes to form in these protective eye sacks, nor what causes their different colourations, but they seem to cause no harm or aid.
Confirmed to be real metals, their creation is a mystery.
Though it is recorded that it's possible for them to appear in one of four types of metal; gold, copper, bronze or silver.
It's also recorded that eye colour doesn't dictate the colour of fey flecks you get.
While offspring are more likely to have the same eye flecks as their parents, this also isn't guaranteed and they could have completely different fey flecks instead.
Something else to be noted is that a later investigation had documented the fact that Exandrian-born elves also have these protective eye sacks and fey flecks.
The new investigation also reported that there's a 60% chance of half-elves and quarter-elves developing these sacks and fey flecks, but there's only a 10% chance for the offspring of quarter-elves to also develop these odd traits.
In conclusion, scientists believe that this genetic mutation came about in response to some event where The Fey Realm had been plunged in darkness for some time, resulting in generational blindness and/or other eye-related issues.
This evolution is labelled as a scientific mystery to date, with many theories trying to explain what caused it, but ultimately, we have yet to find a solid and satisfactory conclusion as to what caused these odd traits.
One final note to take stock of - elves are born with these fey flecks already formed, but half-elves and so-on may be born with them missing at first only for them to form as they age.
Typically, this starts to happen when half-elves turn 7 years old, the same time that their ears start to morph into slight elven points.
Unlike with ear morphing, the development of fey flecks is completely painless, and a half-elf may not even notice their development until they look in a mirror or until someone tells them about it.

Thinking about the twins growing up in Byroden with their mother, happy and nurtured their whole lives.
I like to imagine them getting a farm at some point, though the three still make clothes to donate to the local temple.
The twins would love it, I imagine - working with animals all day, helping to tend the field, making wonderful meals using their own produce, spending time with their beloved mother...
I think it would look good on them - Maybe Vax would take better care of himself, and maybe Vex would stress less?
Elaina would get to see her babies mature into adults, helping them grow and learn.
It would be so sweet!

A while ago, I mentioned I had something briarvax cooking in the wings on this post.
Well, it's here baby!
This is a dark fic; It has no fluff or comfort or happy end.
The Briarwoods are evil, and poor Vax suffers. A lot.
Heed the warnings and enjoy!
