Some of the movies may fit in more than one category, so vibes have mostly informed those decisions.
Round Two:

Nicolas Winding Refn Vs Anders Thomas Jensen
Valhalla Rising is a 2009 Danish historical movie set around the 12th century. The story follows One Eye, a Norse warrior captured by a Norwegian chieftain and forced to fight, until he escapes along with a young boy, a fellow captive. Mads plays the ill-fated and hard-done warrior One Eye.

8. What movie are you looking forward to coming out the most?
Bastarden / The Promised Land (2023) which is directed by Nikolaj Arcel! Arcel directed my underdog favourite Danish movie (Sandheden om Mænd (2010)) and also the famous (and much better than my fave) En kongelig affære / A Royal Affair (2012). It's being released in October, so I might try and catch it when I have to go to Denmark in November for my exam! <3
34. An underrated movie?
I am sorting Letterboxd by my own highest ratings and seeing if something stands out. The one that does is not exactly underrated (it has 4.2* on Letterboxd), but I feel like it is still... somewhat underexposed, perhaps. Druk / Another Round (2020) for instance has 400k more viewers on Letterboxd than this one, despite both of them being nominated for a best foreign feature during the 2021 oscars. ANYWAY. It's Quo Vadis, Aida? (2020), which deals with the Srebrenica genocide. It was particularly eye-opening to me due to my nationality, but I feel like this movie will have a strong impact on anyone watching it. It also did a great job juggling with the multiple difficult factors (backlash from the Dutch / Serbs, portraying a genocide in the right way) and the result is admirable.
49. A disappointing film from your favorite director?
It's not even a bad or disappointing film necessarily, but Mænd og Høns / Men & Chicken (2015) by Anders Thomas Jensen (who is not the fave, but a favourite) really did not hit the way I wanted it to.

Round One:

Mads working with a fave
Blinkende Lygter (Flickering Lights) is a 2000 Danish black comedy following four small-time criminals who steal from a gangster boss and go into hiding in the countryside, where they realise they could stay and start a new life. Mads plays Arne, one of the four criminals, who is pretty deranged.
De grønne slagtere (The Green Butchers) is a 2003 Danish black comedy about two butchers who set up their own shop... which eventually (accidentally) involves cannibalism. Mads plays Svend, one of the butchers who is slightly unhinged.
Adams Æbler (Adam's Apples) is a 2005 Danish black comedy following paroled gang leader Adam who must undertake a rehabilitation program headed by the priest Ivan. Mads plays Ivan, who has his own challenges that has him ignoring reality.
Mænd og Høns (Men & Chicken) is a 2015 Danish black comedy about two brothers who go in search of their biological father, only to find the most bizarre of secrets. Mads plays Elias, one of the brothers, he is an insecure, rude, chronic masturbator who makes a startling discovery about his parentage.
Bizarre movies or modern-day fairy tales, which is your favourite?

Movie Reaction: Men and Chicken
Emoji Summary: 🥸🤓 -> 🚗 ->🧐🙃🥲
Ending Summary: 🥸🤓🧐🙃🥲 as well as all lives matter.
Warning: Curses, Dark Comedy, Animal abuse in a way, SPOILER ALERT! I tried not to spoil, but I think I did it anyways.
REACTION:
SO, MEN AND CHICKEN....
I can't really say it's my favorite because I've seen a more twisted movie (and that is The Green Butchers), but this movie’s totally twisted too, and I like it a lot.
For the whole 1 hour, you'd go on and comment "What the fuck? Why? What? What? WHY?!". You’d wonder if it’s normal for them because in reality, it’s not normal, but they’re different, you know? Eccentric which makes sense that their standards of living and morality are much more different than ours. I don’t think we can blame them for their issues and nature.
THEN, you come to a point you realize that it's a big fat family issue, always following their dad’s rules, also gaining their dad’s issues. Might I add that he’s the most twisted of them all. There are themes such as (in my own analysis which I hope isn’t wrong)  “They’re family, gotta stand up for them.”, “They’re family, gotta protect them from truth.”, “They’re family, and they’re fucked up, and I wanna leave this place.”. By the end of the movie, you’d see them together, and contradicting to the whole movie, you see that it’s nice seeing them together despite violence and uh etc, but that’s because they’ve come to realize that they have to accept each other, and that they’re family. I’m not sure but I think they’ve also formed their own families which is uhh arousing curiosity in me because in the movie, they’ve emphasized that the siblings are all sterile, but that’s that, and I like it.
Also here, you'd maybe want to use your moral standards to say who's right, who's wrong, and above all, understand the whole story, universe, and events, but then you REMEMBER, it's a fucking dark comedy and mundane rules don't apply here because they're ought to be fucking eccentric, and this movie is fucking with or just fucking the eccentricity. *pun intended*  BUT, despite all eccentricity and absurdity, all the twisted events and past, abnormal standards and such, that one moral lesson that makes the film inherently beautiful is that life is special... whether it may be created by nature or man, hideous or beautiful, smart or stupid, disgusting or satisfying. And, as the movie ends, "Any alternative (to life... which is death by murder) is not preferred.".
Side and unrelated note:  HAH, SLAP to yer fucken’ face, FRANKENSTEIN. At least the crazy here didn’t abandon 3 of his kids, and at least put up the 2 for adoption unlike yeh. Not that he’s a good father, but he, at least, is a better one than those who abandon.
ALSO, I FORGOT TO ADD. I love the character development here. May be dull for some, but it’s nice.
Alright. That’s all of my reaction. If you read this, thank you for giving me your time. If you find my reaction wrong, please comment and educate this small brain. If you find my reaction funny, GREAT, THANK YOU! If you find my reaction boring, Nice!
Also, please suggest me more dark comedy movies. I’ve developed fondness for them.

I watched men and chicken and it is one of the strangest movies I've ever seen. Honestly I forgot mads was even in it because he blends into his character so well. Like it's honestly one of his best performances to me because while watching it I never saw Mads. I only saw Elias. And yeah I know thats what acting is but you don't understand like Mads brought Elias to fucking life. There is no mads in this movie only Elias. Mads mikkelsen who??
