my god!!!! i've been reconnecting with the anime nerd inside myself lately that i kind of lost like uhh during the covid times actually?? i don't think those two things are related but it just happened like that. but this year i started going to cons again and since then have been slowly getting back to that world and it's really kind of a bizarre feeling to unearth so many memories and like "oh yeah i was really invested in this thing and VA too. and this OP/ED song. and this and this series that people these days prob haven't heard of. also this obscure thing people didn't know even back when it aired. and first i hated this VA but then i started liking him 5 years later. and this character and this ship and"
bro! this is a mindfuck but a good one, it like, sends me into another dimension where i remember things are sparkly and kawaii again. i have no idea how my teenager/20yo self in particular had time and energy to be into so many things but good for her. now i can just kind of look back fondly
....and focus on the things i have energy for now as present me. which means going ballistic over aya hisakawa and ai orikasa all over again

SO….for probably the past 18 years ever since I was a freshman in high school who discovered fanfiction, I’ve been writing various (incomplete) pieces for a multitude of fandoms that I was convinced would never see the light of day. Until now. I always end up discovering things late to the party. Most recently Tumblr is one thing. And Jujutsu Kaisen is the other.
As in, I only discovered the series in September. And in my perusal of Tumblr I have read a myriad of insanely talented stories and ideas for Jujutsu Kaisen. But one thing that has stuck out to me is that I have never seen any fic that has Toji having a sister. I’ve seen stories of Suguru and Satoru having a sister, heck even Yuji. But never Toji.
And it got me thinking, what if he had a sister? Specifically a younger one, how would that impact the storyline of Jujutsu Kaisen. And so I present to you the first Chapter of a story I have spent six months creating (there are a lot of gaping holes). There’s going to be alot of questionable canon accuracy as I’m new to the series. I welcome any corrections and suggestions for improvement. Please bear with me.
I want to give a shoutout to Authorautumnbanks (Happy Brithday🥳) who has been instrumental in giving me feedback from the beginning about every idea of this story I have barraged to her.
She has also for months now been insisting that I finally just jump into the deep waters and post something. And so here I am posting what feels like the insides of my very soul for the internet to see for all of time. I am petrified, tentative and excited. I also honestly don’t really expect anyone to actually read this. But if you do, I appreciate you even taking the time, and I welcome any and all feedback. So without further ado here is Chapter 1.
Also: this is an 18+ Story. Minors do NOT interact.
When There Were Three
Chapter 1
Like a game of chess
I predict your move
I think I know you better
Better than you do
——The Downtown Fiction
For years Toji had longed to leave the Zenin clan, although the steps he had been surreptitiously taking to do so hadn’t really kicked into high gear until this past year.
He could’ve probably left years ago, no sweat off his back really. Probably.
It was making sure he had the funds to provide for his sister Maaya too (while raising her) that made leaving easier said than done.
It wasn’t uncommon for the Zenins or other lesser clans to send their girls off like herds of dumb innocent cattle to be shipped off to “schools” where they were taught (amongst other things)on how to seduce powerful men to ensure political power, continued lineage, and financial wealth to their clans.
They were transformed from uncouth animals into lifeless, unquestioning pretty porcelain dolls; easily breakable with nothing but emptiness inside once they shattered.
Easily replaceable too. At almost ten Maaya was on the cusp of being separated from him for that explicit purpose. They would rob her of her laughter, her smile, then her joy, her imagination, her sassiness, her determination, and finally what was left of her will.
“What would you think about leaving here?” Toji Zenin asked her while she brushed her teeth, finally voicing aloud his plan to her.
Maaya spat in the sink. She had never left the Zenin estate for more than a day before.
“On vacation?” She asked, puzzled, wondering how and if they could afford to even go anywhere.
The corners of her older brother’s mouth twitched as a chuckle escaped him.
“No, for good. Forever. We never come back here again.” Toji clarified, ruffling her hair.
“Where would we go?” Maaya asked, furrowing her brows.
Toji noted that her eyes were wide with genuine curiosity, not apprehension.
“We’d stay with that pretty lady you found under my bed.”
“The naked one?”
There was a loud clearing of a throat, and an averted gaze and red tint to Toji’s cheeks. “Yeah….”
“But, would she be able to afford us? I’ve been thinking alot about why she had no clothes on, and I can’t believe I didn’t realize it sooner. She’s poor! That’s why she was naked. She mustn’t be able to afford any clothes.”
Toji raised a puzzled eyebrow before a laugh emerged from him, a kind that Maaya had never heard before. Normally he would let out a husky chuckle from within his throat.
But this laugh came from somewhere deep within his gut, filling up every space of the room and quickly dissolved into a fit of giggles.
Those giggles made Maaya giggle, even if she wasn’t sure what exactly was so funny. Grownups were weird.
“T-that’s not quite, never mind.” Toji shook his head as a few more genuine chuckles escaped him and wiped his eyes with the back of his hand.
Toji’s jade green eyes always crinkled when he found something amusing. He pressed Maaya to his side so that her face was squished against the solid wall of muscle hidden beneath coarse fabrics of his hakama.
“Don’t ever change Twerp.” He rumpled her hair even more and let out a loud exhale.
“I won’t..” Maaya flailed, her voice muffled as he squished her even more. “You’re heavy!”
“If we leave here, we can be just like everyone else out there, like that lady.”
“You mean, we won’t get thrown in the curse pits anymore?” Maaya’s voice held a mixture of apprehension and a tinge of hope.
“No more curse pits ever.”
“And they really won’t hate us because we don’t have cursed energy? They’ll be nice?”
“Most of them, yes. They’re good people. Like the pretty lady.”
“Are you going to marry her? Is that why we’re staying with her?”
“Would you like me to marry her?”
“Does she make you happy?” Maaya tilted her head inquisitively.
“The happiest.” A rugged smile curled, and his sharp gaze softened considerably.
“Okay, then I would.” Maaya nodded, satisfied with that explanation and then paused. “But….only if you always make her happy too. It’s not fair if she’s never happy.”
“Well, I’m gonna do my best to kiddo.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Maaya held on tightly to Toji’s hand as they walked through the streets of Tokyo.
Even though the almost ten-year old had wandered these streets many times when sneaking out with Satoru Gojo to play ever since they were six, she felt an odd mixture of apprehension and anticipation now.
Maybe it was because there was no going back to the Zenin compound now, and their lives were now uprooted. When she and Gojo would chase each other, there was no set destination for where they wanted to go, but there didn’t need to be. They were just two little kids having fun.
Maaya never realized how much of a minimalist she was until they were packing the night before and everything she owned fit in her backpack. There was no need to take any kimonos.
Toji had said that the woman they’d be staying with (Midori Fushiguro was apparently her name) would have clothes for her to wear when they got there. So Maaya really just ended up taking a few books Toji would read to her, an extra sweatshirt, and that was basically it.
The little blue eyed white cat plushie keychain that Gojo had won for her while playing festival games was securely hooked onto the belt loop of Maaya’s pants.
She kept reaching down to check to make sure it was still there every few minutes. It was probably silly, but Maaya was too nervous about setting down her backpack and accidentally leaving it behind to hook the keychain to its zipper.
Since it was still fairly early in the morning, mixtures of salarymen and kids in schools uniforms flooded past them. Maaya’s gaze lingered on the uniforms of kids that looked close to her age, wondering if she would get to go to a school like theirs and wear one too.
She sure hoped so.
A group of girls in particular seemed to be giggling and laughing. It looked like they were having fun. It was something Maaya had never experienced with anyone her age outside of Gojo before.
It was an odd fact of her life that seemed impossible, ridiculous even, being part of a clan as huge and old as the Zenins.
But, when you had absolutely no cursed energy like her and Toji, your very existence was a sin, a shameful stain to your clan. From birth they were pariahs to the Zenins. Even the servants had more standing than them because they possessed cursed energy. Playing with her cousins, or any of the servant children was an unacceptable social taboo.
Satoru Gojo had broken that iron clad unspoken rule; he had always abhorred rules and traditions, and their friendship was a closely guarded secret.
When Maaya’s presence was required it was to learn archaic traditions like ceremonial dances and the art of tea serving and flower arranging in scant hopes she might attract a husband. As far as primary education, Toji had homeschooled her how to read and write, and basic arithmetic.
If she did go to a public school, she wondered what kind of subjects she’d learn; maybe she’d get to eat out of a lunchbox like all the other kids.
She snapped out of her thoughts as Toji ruffled her hair, having followed her curious gaze to the group of girls her age.
“Don’t worry, you’ll make plenty of friends in no time kiddo.” He promised her, his voice gruff, but his piercing jade green eyes were gentle.
Because of Toji’s imposing height and powerful build, they actually didn’t seem to have to do much weaving through the crowds. Rather, people seemed to quickly get out of Toji’s way, which made it easy for them to make their way to a local restaurant across the next street.
Before Maaya could ask why they were stopping here, a familiar woman with warm brown eyes, short spiky locks of hair, and a bright smile approached them. She was dressed casually in jeans and a hoodie, and embraced Toji with long kiss.
Maaya wrinkled her nose and averted her gaze; grownups were so gross. Seeming to sense her discomfort, the woman broke away from Toji and knelt down so that she was eye level with Maaya.
Suddenly caught off guard by the attention that was on her, Maaya squeezed Toji’s hand even harder, this time with both hands, and pressed her face into Toji’s arm, suddenly overcome with shyness.
The woman beamed, “Hi Pretty Girl. My name’s Midori Fushiguro. It’s nice to meet you again.”
Maaya blinked, her cheeks growing rosie at the unexpected compliment. Pretty?
“Hi!” She squeaked, and with a surge of bravery bowed respectfully to Midori (though she was still clinging onto Toji).
“I-I like your name. It’s pretty just like you,” Maaya blurted out, making Toji laugh and Midori melt.
“What’s your name Twerp?” Toji gently prompted her, his eyes crinkling with amusement. He reached over and poked her side with his free hand.
Maaya glared up at him before turning her attention back to Midori. She swallowed quickly.
“I-I’m Maaya Zenin. Oh, wait, just Maaya because we’re not Zenins anymore.” She felt Toji ruffle her hair in quiet approval.
“I think your name’s actually closer to ‘Octopus’ with how you’re gripping onto me.” Toji teased, which earned him a united glare from both Maaya and Midori.
“Aw, be nice Toji; she’s just a little shy. And such a cutie! Are you hungry for some breakfast Maaya?” Midori smiled sweetly.
Maaya nodded eagerly as her tummy rumbled.
“Great! This place has a lot of sweet breads and donuts you can eat. And then after we eat breakfast and get you guys settled in, there’s a playground nearby that we could go to.” Midori suggested hopefully.
“Really, we can play there?” Maaya glanced at Toji hesitantly, who nodded.
“Sure we can.” Toji shrugged, a lot more relaxed than he’d been an hour ago.
That confirmation seemed to break any lingering trepidation or shyness Maaya had because she let out an excited cheer.
Midori didn’t even get a chance to blink before Maaya began eagerly inquiring about how big the slide was, and launching into a tale about how she tried sliding off the rooftop of the Zenin bath house a week ago, but accidentally landed on some Chrysanthemums in the process.
Midori took one look at Toji’s astonished face and burst out laughing. “Oh I like you, you keep Toji on his toes, don’t you?”
Maaya seemed to puff up with pride like the fresh breakfast pastry she eagerly bit into. “Of course I do; he runs really funny when he tells me not to do something. That’s why I do it anyways.”
“I do what now?” Toji raised a disbelieving eyebrow as he took a skeptical bite of his breakfast.
Maaya stared incredulously at her big brother: “You. Run. Really. Funny.” She repeated slowly annunciating every word as if Toji had suddenly gone nearly deaf AND dumb.
“You know how chickens are too fat to fly but they still try to flap their wings anyways while they run around?” Maaya painted a generous picture.
“Yeah….” Toji eyed his little sister suspiciously. Was she calling him fat now?
“Well, you look even MORE ridiculous than that when you run.” Maaya nodded affirmatively with a shrug of her shoulders before turning back to her breakfast; completely oblivious to the ego damage she had inflicted.
Midori choked on her juice as she failed to hold back her laughter. Heck, she didn’t even try to not laugh.
Toji sighed heavily, and rolled his eyes at Midori. “Whose side are you on again?”
“Oh, hers for sure.” Midori snorted, “Like that’s even a question.”
The bravery of this kid (who was entirely dependent on him for survival) to roast him so easily never ceases to amaze him. Toji swore in terms of discipline, he was gentle parenting his baby sister, but Maaya had clearly missed the memo that she was supposed to be gentle childing back.
“It’s such a relief you’re as smart as you are pretty. All Toji has to offer is his pretty hair. But I think you’ll be just fine.” Maaya told Midori who looked positively gleeful at the compliment.
“I like the way you think.” She held up her hand to high five Maaya, who happily accepted.
“I like it too!” Maaya agreed with a confident nod.
Well, she sure got over that shyness fast, Toji internally scoffed as he took a sip of his coffee. But as he watched Midori and Maaya chatting away as if they’d known each other their whole lives, he felt his mouth curving up into a small smile, and there was a pleasant stirring in his chest.
He turned his attention to the window, and noticed the leaves just starting to turn color outside.
It was nice Toji decided, to be able to look forward to things changing, and this time it felt like it was for the better.
~~~~~~~
Bonus scene:
“Toji, have you seen my shoes? I looked everywhere.” Maaya was bouncing on the heels of her feet with way too much pep this early in the morning.
He made a mental note to check how much sugar was in her cereal later. She was unnaturally alert; and Toji was not a morning person.
He poured what was left in his flask into his coffee cup, and rubbed his temples.
“Are you sure you checked everywhere?” He muttered, forgetting that Midori hadn’t snuck out the window, once their latest romp in the sheets had finished.
Maaya tilted her head in thought. “Pretty sure….oh…well maybe….” She paused, biting her lip in thought, clearly backtracking.
“Go check again everywhere.” Toji all but pushed her out of the kitchen of their living quarters.
“Okay.”
“I should start sedating her cereal.” Toji rolled his eyes, letting his head hit the table with a weary thud.
Midori heard whispers, and footsteps. Odd since she lived alone——ohhh!
Her eyes snapped open and a simultaneous feeling of dread and panic seized her brain as she took in her surroundings with groggy eyes.
Oh shit shit shit…she could kill Toji. She knew that lying next to him wasn’t going to be for “just a few more minutes.”
He probably really was married. The jerk! Clan rules her ass. How had she never put it together before??? Why else would he be sneaking her in?
In times of panic, one’s mind works dumbly as the body attempts to seek crude ways of survival.
In Midori’s case, she rolled off the bed, still completely naked and crawled under the narrow space between the bed and the floor when she heard footsteps coming close.
Oddly light footsteps.
It took everything in her not to scream as the sheets hanging off the bed were lifted up, and pair of green eyes that were not Toji’s stared back at her.
“Hi?” She wheezed inhaling a dust bunny. Idiot! She should’ve played dead.
The sheets fell down a moment later, and then the door opened and the footsteps started to retreat.
The walls were thin. And despite the thunderous boom of her stupid heart thudding nonstop, she could hear the conversation going on in the next room:
“Did you find your shoes?”
“Nope. But, um…. I did find a lady under your bed.”
There was a sound of intense choking.
“A what?”
“A lady….she had no clothes on. But I don’t think she was a curse. She didn’t attack me; she said hi. Actually, I know she’s not a curse, she’s way too pretty.”
Toji’s voice sounded strangled.
“Is that right?”
“Yep! She’s way prettier than all the other girls you keep sneaking in. No wonder you were kissing her near the moat last night. You never do that with all the others. You’re not very good at being sneaky are you?”
Midori felt her blood boil and her right eye twitch.
Toji was going to be a goddamn eunuch once she got out of here.
She missed what Toji said next.
“Well, it’s your bed Toji. What you keep under there is what you can fit I guess. Just not my shoes. I’m gonna go play——oh is it fun?”
“Is what fun?” Toji sounded like he was getting stabbed.
“Kissing. That’s all you ever do with girls. Is it fun?”
“I guess….”
“Well it must be for them; because talking to you is a real bore.”
“Listen Twerp——“
“But if kissing‘s all there is to have fun when I’m grown; I’d rather just climb trees forever instead.”
Toji’s laughter reverberated throughout the room and gave Midori goosebumps.
“I’m gonna hold you to that. Now….get lost Twerp.”
“Just not under a bed?” Came the cheeky reply.
“OUT!”
I just wanna run, hide it away
Run because they're chasing me down
I just wanna run, throw it away
Run before they're finding me out
I just wanna run
I just wanna run

Everything you need to know about BDSM Toys Online
Tumblr media
BDSM is an extensive term provided to sexual behavior, where, for some people, BDSM is wrong in an unusual way after watching movies like 50 Shades of Grey & Indian series like Maaya, people got curious about BDSM Toys Online. Still, curiosity cannot serve justice to implement it, but having proper knowledge of this concept is mandatory. So, this blog will be able to clear all of your running thoughts on BDSM and will aid you in choosing the perfect gift for you & your partner.
BDSM is an extensive term provided to sexual behavior; for some people, BDSM is wrong in an unusual way, but on the other hand, for some, BDSM is a way to enhance their sexual desires. Physical pleasure, pain, domination, intercourse, and servitude are regular activities of BDSM. Most of the BDSM is performed by the mutual consent of all partners. The one in charge is known as “Dominant”; the one who follows is called a “sub.”
A CORRECT ABBREVIATION OF BDSM:
B- Bondage (restricting the other partner’s freedom of movement with the help of ropes, handcuff, etc.)
D- Dominance, discipline (agreed upon the rules and punishments given to the dominant partner to control their submissive partner and showing dominance to the other person, during intercourse privately or publicly anywhere)
S- Submission, sadism (showing submission to the dominant partner and the pleasure you may feel because inflicting pain is sadism)
M- Masochism (and receiving pain, whether it is physical or emotional, is the process of masochism).
According to some research, nearly 50% of women and around 60% of men fantasized about dominating someone in sexual intercourse. And some studies also say that healthy BDSM can develop feelings between partners.
Nowadays, the reason that people are falling for BDSM and sex toys is so much because people are starting to believe that physical desire and pleasure are not wrong. During the BDSM play, an exchange of thoughts, power, control, and supremacy takes place. BDSM is meant to enhance and strengthen the relationship that does not support any abuse. There is a fine line between the two; in BDSM, the consent of both partners is essential.
Bondage is about toys, but knowing BDSM toys is very important, for Secret Sinners provides prior information on how to use them safely and elatedly. With BDSM, there is so much to know, and there are various levels of bondage. And you can take the test to know which group you & your partner fit in.
There are different types of BDSM toys that Secret Sinners offer: if you have not explored this site, you have experienced zero in BDSM. There are various types of BDSM; bondage sex toys are available online for couples, men, women, and the LGBTQ community.
For beginners: — These ranges of products are suitable for people who are just starting to explore their desires. For example, blindfolds, bondage kits, vibrators, restraints, feather ticklers, sex toys for men, and much more.
For medium level: — They are the people who started to enjoy their desires and pleasure of BDSM yet are still not experienced in handling BDSM play; these bondage toys are beneficial for them. For example: — clamps, love dice, ticklers, floggers, nipple clamps, suction cups, cock rings and much more.
For hardcore: — They are the people who have the complete information on how the BDSM plays and how to make full use of sex toys. For example: — Ball gags, ropes, tapes, mouth gags, butt plugs, anal toys, chastity belts, collars and leashes, paddles, whips, and many more product people use for hardcore BDSM sex.
Word to the wise: always keep your bondage toys clean and cared. A neat and clean bondage toy is a safe bondage toy. Keep it clean, and it doesn’t matter who cleans them, you or your favorite gimp.
Secret Sinners offers a BDSM kit, which is a set of various types of sex toys like sex toys for couples, anal vibrators, restraints, handcuffs, leather G-strings, nipple clamps, waste chains, etc., that teams use to drive their relationship with sexual desires. Nowadays, BDSM kits are readily available in India on your favorite site- Secret Sinners, which is highly safe and secure and takes proper care of clients’ privacy. The pleasure you and your partner will feel with the help of bondage toys will be infinite. The fruit is sour but is sweet and sexy. So, people above 18+ must try it once to spice things up.
Sometimes, couple toys are hard to agree on by both partners, but it is so worth it. Also, a partner’s sex isn’t one specific act; for example, foreplay is the key, and these toys can help explore the various desires of your body. Also, during this whole lockdown situation, couples are using this perfect opportunity to take love games to another level and try at least a few sex toys or BDSM positions to satisfy their naughty desires.
Various types of livestream websites are also available; the best examples would be BDSM streak hitbdsm for free BDSM videos; they are helpful in their way. Please take a moment and learn about your inner desires & visit the Secret Sinners online store, get the insight of their product & order now!!!
Just Shop and enjoy & refer to more couples for BDSM Toys Online around you.

female urogynecologist in chennai
Why is female urogynecologist advantageous?
Female Urogynecologists have a huge advantage over male gynecologists because they know what a woman's body feels like without any training. They share the same uterus, ovaries, and vagina. This means that they can empathize with women's health issues in a way that men might not.
Women often say that they find it easier to talk to other women about personal topics such as sex and reproductive health. Patients say they are particularly afraid to talk to male doctors about their pelvic pain, bleeding and discharge, painful intercourse, and other gynecological problems. This is important because feeling comfortable and safe is key to knowing your symptoms and getting a quick and useful diagnosis. Book your appointment at the best female urogynecologist in Chennai!
Urogynecology Conditions can affect quality of Life
Urological and pelvic floor disorders are very embarrassing mostly. Urinary incontinence and other problems such as overactive bladder, faecal incontinence, and interstitial cystitis may limit social activities. fertility clinic in kolathur
Infertility and Assisted Reproductive Techniques
Infertility is the term used to describe the inability or failure of a couple or woman to become pregnant. Infertility is clinically defined as the inability to conceive after one year of regular, unprotected sex or after six months if a woman is over 35 years old.
Causes Female Infertility
Infertility is a condition of the reproductive system that affects about 10-15% of couples. Fertility occurs due to both women and men; In fact, female and male factors account for about one-third of all infertility cases. In the remaining cases, both partners do not have enough energy or cannot explain the cause of infertility.
Hormonal imbalances that can cause ovulation problems
Pelvic inflammatory disease and sexually transmitted diseases such as gonorrhea and chlamydia can damage your fallopian tubes
Endometriosis can change the lining of your uterus and make it difficult for a fertilized egg to implant
Problems with the shape and mucus inside the cervix can prevent sperm from reaching the uterus to fertilize an egg.
For the treatment of female fertility issues, contact the best fertility clinic in Kolathur.
Assisted Reproductive Techniques
ART includes all the latest fertility treatments in which eggs or embryos are manipulated. In general, ART procedures are the process of removing eggs from a woman's ovaries surgically and combining them with sperm in a laboratory. Then, you put them back into the woman's body or donate them to other women.
A combination of IVF and GIFTS
Transferring a fertilized egg (zygote) into the fallopian tube (rarely done)
Using eggs or embryos from another woman (donor)  if the woman is over 42 years old.
Transfer frozen embryos to surrogate mothers.
ART procedures can lead to multiple pregnancies, but the risk is much lower than with controlled ovarian stimulation. If the risk of genetic defects is high, embryos can often be tested for defects before transfer and implantation

Rambly Patalliro stage review
Stage Patalliro 2021 Foggy London Airport Arc Review
Tumblr media
Today I finally managed to see the delays of the first and last day of the new 2021 Patalliro stage.
Overall, I will rate this show as a 9 out of 10.
I don't know if I'm giddy just because I watched the show today and have been really looking forward to it, and especially since I didn't enjoy the last 2.5D show I was looking forward to I might be projecting a bit onto this show. But I did enjoy every second of this show and can’t wait to buy the dvd.
While there were things, I was very nervous about for this show, I was also very excited as a lot of actors I really love are in the show.
 I just wanna say anything I say about negative fan reaction is of course not most fans. Most fans stayed quiet and just did what they wanted, I’m just talking about a few fans whose comments I have seen floating about.
I was very nervous about the hostility to the new cast which I felt was unwarranted. Obviously, this wasn’t from most fans but was just from a very small amount of them. Hostility to the company and how they handled the graduation of the previous cost and the handling of the bringing in of the new cast is completely justified. However, this new cast is full of people who truly love the show and were very excited to be in it and no one had seen them on stage as those characters and so I feel like hostility towards them was undue.
The main reason this made me nervous was that I was worried if the show was bad the director and the company would not be the ones blamed but the actors who merely were doing their best in roles they were cast in.
I am so glad to say that I believe the show was fantastic. I believe that they lived up to the legacy of the previous cast and have started a good new tradition for their next shows and any cast that follows them.
One thing that really shocked me but also spoke to me about how this show most likely wouldn’t have happened without a new cast, was Kato Ryo Crying out of happiness on the final day of the show. Kato Ryo is known for never breaking character and not breaking down on stage which shows how much this show means to him. He was truly happy to be on the stage performing as Patalliro again, and it did seem as if he had also bonded to this new cast as Dai instantly went to give him a hug which he returned. He spoke about how it was amazing they could make it to the final performance as he didn’t think they’d even make it to a first one. I believe it is not too far-fetched to say that he might be referring to the fact that Nelke and the 2.5d association mostly likely said that they would not continue the show with Tsune onboard. As before Kato Ryo said he would only continue the show if the cast didn’t change and that seemed like a serious change.
Tumblr media
I have seen comments that Maaya-sensei didn’t like the new cast and that he was completely unaware of the change in casting which I would be very surprised by. 2.5d shows have to sign off for new shows with the creator of the original and also you could see that Maaya-sensei’s family had bonded the new cast greatly. Giving the show a standing ovation and kept waving to the cast on the final night.
I know the re cast is a very difficult topic for people who likes the old cast and don't want to see a new cost, for people who liked the old cast and are willing to see the new cast, for people who didn't see much of the old cast but excited for the new cast or for people who like the new actors coming in and so getting into Patalliro for the first time.
I believe that as long as you are not attacking anyone your thoughts and feelings are completely valid and if you only liked the show for the previous cast then you have every right to just ignore the new shows and just watch the three amazing instalments from the old cast. You are valid and I hope you have a lovely day/week and hope that this awful situation (covid and the such) isn’t being too bad to you.
 In my opinion if this show was the result of the recast, and that if it hadn't happened we wouldn't have gotten another show, then I'm very glad it happened because I think this show was excellent and another fantastic instalment under the name of Patalliro stage. Under the cut I will include a spoilered review of the stage but before then I just wanted to say some of my basic thoughts for anyone who doesn't want to be spoiled for what is in the show.
 Acting: All the acting was fantastic. There wasn't a single actor who I wasn't entranced by and I was enthralled and engaged the entire show. I think every actor performed their roles perfectly and to the best of their abilities.
 Singing: Obviously the big stand out for singing in this show was the transgender actress Nakamura Ataru as she was hired for her singing voice, her being a professional singer. However, I think everybody performed extremely well. I continue to be a little frustrated with the use of recorded singing for everybody except for Ataru, as I believe the music they have on it is too loud and it makes it harder to hear a lot of the singers and I also feel it's not necessary to record the songs as all of them are professional actors who can definitely sing on stage. That being said, I fell in love with every single song in the show and thought they were all amazing.
 Directing: I think a lot of very very wise decisions were made about this show. I was worried this show would either reflect too much on the previous cast or just not mention them at all and pretend it didn't happen. Luckily the stage did neither. I will get into more specifics and my spoiler review, but I think they handled it very well with having stuff for new fans, old fans and fans who would be irritated by seeing knew actors continue on jokes that previous actors started. In regards to other sides of the directing, I believe it was same as always, very good for the type of show it is. The comedy was very good but due to only having seen two shows I can't say how much was the directing and how much were the actors just being funny, because this is a very funny cast.
 Casting: I believe every actor in this stage was perfect for their roles. This may be a controversial opinion but after seeing Dai and Yuuya act opposite each other I am very glad that Sana wasn’t brought back. They couldn't continue to have Tsune in the show as 2.5D does not have the kind of reputation yet where they can have an actor who has committed crimes in their shows and back him for if he ever did something again then it could do a lot of damage to the industry. Nelke and the 2.5d association are companies and in order to keep putting on shows and paying actors and all the staff they need money. And to have money, they need a clean reputation, at least while it’s still relatively low in popularity. I do not wish Tsune ill at all, I think he is an excellent actor, and I really hope that he does continue acting but I completely understand why he was not cast in this show again and why that led to a recast of most of the cast. I think that Sana was excellent as Maraich in every way he embodied the character. But having been in quite a few previous shows together Yuuya and Dai already had excellent chemistry, and I think it would have been quite odd to see Sana as Maraich acting opposite a different Bancoran. I can't imagine any actor having better chemistry with Dai’s Maraich than Yuuya’s Bancoran and visa versa. And I really hope that with the end of lockdown and quarantine, and everything calming down a lot in terms of physical contact on stages they will be able to show the bond between their Maraich and Bancoran even more. (They didn’t actually kiss, converse to what I’ve seen some people reporting about how Nelke wanted to pretend everything was fine by making them kiss.)
 Well enough on them, the Tamanegi. I think all of them were completely perfect for their roles and they all handled it with enough seriousness to make the comedy different enough from the past cast and therefore make it their own but also for it to actually be funny. I cannot wait to see this group in more shows together and see how much funnier they can become. My only slight complaint, and it is very slight, is that one of the Tamanegi is 19 years old, therefore underage, and it made me slightly uncomfortable when he took his shirt off. as I am now an adult watching the show. Having not been an adult when I watched the previous two, I do rather approach it with different eyes and that was something that I wasn't very comfortable with but I do understand that everybody isn't me and it would have been a bit strange if only one of them didn't take their top off.
 Other cast members included Damian, the Maaya man and Ataru the ‘singing princess’. Again, all three of them were amazing, I was especially impressed with Shouta as Damien as I believe he carriage the emotion that came with that role excellently. Knowing what kind of personality Shouta has off stage, it still makes it slightly weird for me to see him playing less-good characters but I cannot fault his acting. I will cover the other two cast members in my spoiler review.
 Anything else: I think the staging was excellent, prop work was very good and they obviously worked very hard on this show.
 That will do it for my spoiler free review underneath I will get into a lot more detail on things that I liked, disliked or just wanted to comment on.
 If you're stopping reading here thank you very much for reading and I really recommend if you weren't sure about this cast and weren’t sure how much they'd put into these roles and how much they would love them I can assure you that these roles have been trusted to people who really love this show and are working very hard. If you are considering getting the DVD but aren’t sure, I really recommend that you do get it if you like Patalliro and don’t just want to see only the old cast.
 If you have any more specific questions about the show, I will be happy to answer them so just drop me an ask.
Spoilers under cut (Warning, it is very long)
God, where to even begin. This show was so good. They combined old stage Patalliro, with new directing, a new cast, and a really interesting arc. I'm going to separate my review into story, acting, singing/songs and directing, as well as mentioning some extra stuff that I might think of at the end.
 I will illustrate bits I’m saying with pics but pics cannot do this show justice. And I’ve bolded where I begin each section so it’s more easy to find.
 So first, the story. As someone who doesn't know the exact intricacies of this arc, I do know roughly what happens I just couldn't remember all the specifics, I think the show was set out in a very non confusing way compared to other Patalliro content. They did make the story a lot more linear and wasn’t showing stuff that happened at the same time as other things too much which can sometimes hurt my brain. Even with all the flashbacks and flashforwards I felt it was really easy to keep track of what was happening when. The story had a very clear and defined beginning, middle and end, and I just thought it was very well done.
 Acting, with occasional dips into directing and story when appropriate. As I said before the acting was amazing. I had chills, the entire scene with Damien, Maraich and Bancoran. I think they balanced the comedy and tension very well and didn’t try to undercut all the serious scenes with comedy which is my main complaint with a lot of gag manga/anime/stages. Except during Maraich’s more emotional song where one of the Tamanegi was still wearing bdsm gear which I thought was a bit hmmm. I’m not rly gonna cover Kato Ryo bc he just is Patalliro at this point.
Tumblr media
Maraich and Bancoran, despite having very few scenes actually talking to each other, had undeniable chemistry. Dai and Yuuya, sold me on them being a couple immediately with the way they looked at each other and how they held each other. Their final scene before the end together where Maraich lay in a hospital bed and Bancoran was clutching his hand gave me so many emotions (First night he held his hand and final night he kissed him). I was 100% sold on how much they cared about each other, even if they might fight a lot in the end no one will ever love the other more than they do, and I think that that is what makes this couple so special. They have a true unconditional love for each other and they would, quite literally in Maraich’s case, throw themselves on a bomb for the other one.
Tumblr media
 Bancoran. I think Yuuya played Bancoran so well. You could see the character maturing before your eyes as we moved from 15 years previously to 12 years previously, to 10 and onwards until the normal time. And you could see the vulnerability he had with Damien and how that was still there but how he truly loved Maraich and that the vulnerability he has with Maraich is different. While Damien didn’t tend to let his guard down around Bancoran, his relationship with Maraich is a lot more give and take and I think he played all of that expertly. I know how much Bancoran cares about Maraich is a lot more vague in the original but I think that was partly as a product of its time and they somewhat had to make some humour out of these two men being in a relationship without flat out making fun of that aspect. So, I am very happy that the stage lets these character’s be in love and despite everything, truly show that they care about each other. Also, he did make me cry a few times when he saw Damien broken, Maraich with Damien as his heart broke seeing that happen to the man he loved but also breaking for the trust he put in a man he had once loved as well in the final scenes where he has clearly decided to kill Damien but is still holding onto a feint hope that maybe, he is not completely lost.
Tumblr media
Mariach. Wow, just wow. He was not super present in the beginning, but he was the standout in the show in my opinion. His Maraich was so so different to Sana-chan’s Maraich and yet he was absolutely true to Maraich. He approached Mariach from a very different angle and I am so glad we are lucky enough to get both of them playing Maraich. He seems a lot more mature, like he has definitely been with Bancoran longer. He gives him more trust and isn’t as quick to be jealous as well as very quickly understanding Damien and how important he is to Bancoran, asking Patalliro not to tell him anything until they were sure which is different to how he acted about Bjorn/Andersen in the last show, they are different situations but I do think it represents character growth. He was a lot more aggressive in his fighting and anger though, as shown by his heavy metal solo as opposed to the softer ones of Sana’s. Despite all that he still was clearly in love with Bancoran and still showed his cute side. As well as expressing more deeply about his love for Bancoran with one of the Tamanegi but more on that in the Tamanegi’s bit. The scene with Damien was done so well by everyone involved. They clearly condemned Damien’s actions, showed how disgusting what he did was and created incredible pathos for Maraich while also showing Maraich somewhat unaware of what had happened and during the sex scene with Maraich and Damien, Dai showed Maraich’s desperation to hold on Bancoran and love Bancoran, so well, and it broke my heart.
Tumblr media
Damien. I don’t remember too much of Damien from the original but Shouta played him excellently. He showed the progression of this man who loved Bancoran to a man who was willing to throw him away and murder him so well and it was believable despite not seeing almost anything except his interactions with Bancoran or Bancoran/Maraich’s feelings about him. When he held Bancoran at the end, asking why he was fighting so much and why he wanted Damien to kill him, despite Damien obviously being the villain you couldn’t help but feel sympathy for this man despite everything he’d done. (Also I think there is meant to be a parallel between him holding Maraich and him holding Bancoran)
Tumblr media
The Maaya man. I thought the actor himself was very good, but I am a bit confused about why he was in the stage. All the Tamanegi played multiple roles, changing costume, and there is only one of him, so I am not too sure what the benefit from having a single Maaya man was but it’s a very small complaint and mainly about logistics rather than show quality. Especially as it certainly didn’t take away anything from the show having him there.
Tumblr media
Nakamura Ataru – The singing Princess. Oh. My. Lord. Her voice was phenomenal, and she was gorgeous in every single outfit she was in, reaffirming to me that I am very pan (Not just attracted to the men in the play but also this gorgeous woman. I am not saying I am pan because she is trans). What was a surprise to me is that she was genuinely really funny. In the scenes where she was meant to be funny, I laughed a lot and she definitely has expert comedic timing.
Tumblr media
The Tamanegi. I am going to separate a few of them who were reasonably important and group the rest in together.
 So, the ones who did not play major roles in the show were: Emoto Koki, Ookubo Tatsuki, Sagawa Daiki and Hoshi Gouki. They were all very good, played their parts well and I don’t think they could have done better. It was very interesting to see Koki in a bdsm outfit but besides that there wasn’t anything super memorable about these actors’ parts.
Tumblr media
Harashina Motohisa. Motohisa played the Black Tamanegi and served as somewhat of a leader for the Tamanegi in their scenes. Given that he was the only 2nd season Tenimyu actor in the cast and was the first name in the list of Tamanegi this was pretty much the role I expected him to play. He was very good, and his high voice was super adorable to hear after not hearing it much from his roles.
Tumblr media
Okuda Yumeto. It was very surprising for me to see that Yumeto was the Tamanegi who travelled back into the past with Patalliro to see Bancoran’s past. Not only is he the youngest of the Tamanegi but he was also last on the list of Tamanegi names, I might be putting too much onto that list, but I did think it was gonna be kinda going from highest ranked to lowest and from most importance in the show to lowest. I was kinda right and wrong about that as the four most important were the two first names and two of the three last names. He did get to sing a little in the Bancoran and Damien jazz sex song, more on that later, and I thought what he did was good.
Tumblr media
Nakata Ryouta. (Yes I am saving Tsukasa for last bc I love him). Out of the four he had the smallest role but still had a solo bit in their trio song (trio is the name for a song where 3 people harmonise and have solo bits if you didn’t know, bc lol I didn’t) and was somewhat important to Maraich. I thought he was very good despite it being his first stage show and he had a lovely voice. He and Tsukasa made such a cute couple.
Tumblr media
Taguchi Tsukasa. Warning, he is my favourite actor, and I am extremely biased. He was the best actor in the show, no question.
Tumblr media
Joking, he didn’t have too much to do so obviously he didn’t shine more than Dai-chan, Yuuya or Shouta for example. He had two scenes with Maraich and while he didn’t do much in the stage overall it was clear how much of an impact his character, Tamanegi no.35, made on Maraich. He confessed to Maraich his love for his fellow Tamanegi, no.19, and spoke of their love and how special they were to each other which was never ridiculed or made fun of but was an exceedingly human moment and as a lgbt person it really touched me. He saw the love Maraich had for Bancoran and he and 19 did everything they could to help him. Without them, Bancoran and maybe Maraich as well, would most likely be dead as they picked Maraich up and brought him to Bancoran as well as getting Plasma X’s armour to protect him. Maraich, so far in the stages, hasn’t really had a friend. He always has just had Patalliro, shown by Patalliro being called in the 2nd stage to help them with their argument despite Maraich not liking Patalliro that much and this Tamanegi offered help to Maraich without judgement, just empathy, and I thought that was really special. I know, due to the nature of this being based on a gag manga and knowing Patalliro, that in the next stage they will likely not get another scene together but I can hope as their second scene with 19, 35 and Maraich might be my favourite scene in all of Patalliro content.
Tumblr media
I know Tsukasa is a massive Patalliro fan, in a live he said he went to the previous show between 4-6 times and I have rarely seen him smile as much as he did in the finale of this show. It obviously meant so much to him to be in a show he loved and I’m incredibly happy for him.
  Singing/songs.
 There were 9/11 songs in this show. (9 if you don’t count Cock robin and Foggy London Airport which Ataru only sang a little of on stage but is an album exclusive)
 These were:
 1.      Wow Patalliro
2.      I can’t see your
3.      Maybe we could meet again? – Mata Aeru Kashira
4.      Foggy London Airport
5.      Sexy dudes!
6.      To leak out – Moreru
7.      Kiss me Bancoran
8.      Cock Robin
9.      Don’t overlook me – Misugosenai
10.  My special person - Tokubetsu na hito
11.  Forever Patalliro ~ Grand Finale
 1.      Wow Patalliro
This opening song was such a bop and I don’t think I will ever get it out of my head. It was very different to the previous first songs, much higher tempo and energy which I think was interesting as this show felt slower than the previous two shows which I thought was interesting. Shouta, Damien’s actor, was having so much fun dancing around in the bg and it was adorable.
Tumblr media
2.      I can’t see your
God Ataru’s voice. Her voice was gorgeous in this song. This was my favourite of the 3/4 songs she sang and this is from a person who doesn’t usually like ballads. The contrast between the fast pace of the first song and the slow pace of the 2nd song was so well done. And it was such a good song to have the cast list play during as kinda a more formal opening as the first scene doesn’t do much except to show that Bancoran is acting strange and so isn’t super related to the rest of the stage.
Tumblr media
3.      Maybe we could meet again? – Mata Aeru Kashira
I love the club singer vibe of this song and Maraich was so cute with Ban clapping along in the back. It was a nice soft scene before all the angst and trauma in the rest of the scene and it was really nice to see them on a date together.
Tumblr media
4.      Foggy London Airport
Don’t have many thoughts as I didn’t really hear much of this song, about 2 lines, but I’m sure it’s amazing if Ataru is singing it.
Tumblr media
5.      Sexy dudes!
I love all the Tamanegi songs so much and I rly liked how different this one sounded, much like all the songs in this show, I like how the Tamanegi are built up in this song to seem so good then they having the dumbest dance ever, it was amazing and the final day with all of them stripping killed me. Of laughter bc of Daiki wearing a shirt that made it seem like he had abs and of other things bc of Tsukasa stripping. (I think Daiki might not have been comfortable showing his fully chest so I’m glad they allowed him to just wear a pretend ab shirt)
Tumblr media
6.      To leak out – Moreru
I never imagined a sex scene in Patalliro would be shown by a woman dressed like a bush singing a jazz song as screens showed the characters sex faces as they were on a spinning bed or doing poses but here we are. The song itself was very good and I think it worked weirdly well representing what happened.
Tumblr media
7.      Kiss me Bancoran
God all the songs in this stage were just so good. Another absolute banger. Yuuya’s voice as Bancoran is divine and the choreography and everything work so well for this song. I also think he looks super pretty in his past Ban outfit and love that the song was done in that.
Tumblr media
8.      Cock Robin
Pretty much as normal. Maraich’s little leg lift is so cute
Tumblr media
9.      Don’t overlook me – Misugosenai
This was not what I expected from a Maraich solo in any way shape or form. But it works so well?? Maraich screaming into the mic as Bancoran plays the guitar and the Tamanegi do back up dance is just phenomenal, Dai’s voice works for the song so well and him pretending to be Damien and Bancoran and impersonating their voices as they had sex was hilarious, omg. This song was the song we didn’t want but we needed so much. By far and away my fav song in the show. I have listened to it so many times already and I am never gonna get bored of it.
Tumblr media
10.  My special person - Tokubetsu na hito
A trio song between Maraich, 19 and 35 about what you do when with the person you love the most and what you would do for the one you love the most, with the other Tamanegi as back up singers. Despite looking a bit silly with Koki in his bdsm gear in the bg, the emotion was there, and the three actors are such good singers. /not at all biased. Honestly, I died when I heard Tsukasa start to sing. I didn’t expect him to get a solo bit in this show and I was so happy that he did.
Tumblr media
11.  Forever Patalliro ~ Grand Finale
I rly like the new ending song. It’s upbeat and fast like the first song and has a different feel to the previous cast. I’m kinda glad that the final bit with the circle head things that look like the headframes from the manga was the only song they kept. They’re showing that they are moving on from the previous cast without erasing what they did.
Tumblr media
Overall, I think this show has my favourite soundtrack. In the past two shows and the film there were a couple songs I didn’t love but in this one I loved all the songs!
 Directing
Like I said before I think there were a lot of good calls in the direction. They had I think two or three references to Stardust, I think this was to partly reassure fans that they weren’t completely resetting the world and that this was a continuation and from what I remember maybe four or five recurring things.
1.      Patalliro at the start being asked who he is, this definitely makes sense tho and I’m super glad they didn’t change it
2.      Maraich’s legs shaking when Ban looked at him with his beam. I kinda liked though how they even changed the beam for Yuuya. Tsune’s was a contant beam whereas Yuuya’s beam is more short bursts. (in terms out sound and the projection of the beam light)
3.      Patalliro recreating the most tragic scene from the play again at the end. I was a little unsure about them keeping this at first as it felt like a joke of the old cast but it was mainly something Kato Ryo did and he is still here to continue his joke so it makes sense to keep it. Also, in the finale he gave Damien. Maraich and Bancoran characters from tv to impersonate while doing their lines which made the scene very funny.
4.      The final bit after the finale song with the head frames but I think it would be weird to remove this song in retrospect bc it is the song that mainly relates back to the manga. Also, they did change what the head boarders look like.
5.      And obviously the two mangaka that are referenced in all the stages are still there bc that is something that came from the original. (Micchan sensei and the shojo mangaka one)
Tumblr media
Except for that stuff, from what I can remember, mostly everything was new jokes which I rly liked. That they’re making new stuff for the new cast.
 That’s it!
I still have so many other thoughts but the best thing I can say at this point is pls watch the stage! It is just as faithful as it was with the original cast and the quality has not dipped at all.
 Thank you for reading my rly rambly thoughts and I’m sorry it trailed off at the end, it is quite late now.
I hope it inspired you to look into getting a DVD or CD or supporting the stage in some other way.
 Have a good day/week/month/year/life!

Dino Watches Anime (Oct 26)
Recently Completed!
Tokyo Godfathers
Score: 10/10
There’s a reason why I gave this such a rare high rating. When I was watching it, I was internally like, “*excitement noises* I have not been this excited over an anime in such a long time, let alone for an anime movie. EVERYONE SHUT UP SO I CAN WATCH THIS EVEN IF I DON’T UNDERSTAND WHAT THEY’RE SAYING.”
It’s not often that you come across really good movies, let alone masterpieces like this movie. The art is so good, the story made me feel like it was Christmas in October, and the characters really made me connect.
I know the subtitles used a whole lot of gay slurs and things like that, but Hana (the trans character in this tale) is treated well if we get past that huge hurdle. She truly owns up to herself. She doesn’t care what she’s called. She gets mad at people who misgender her. She gets mad if she’s forced to go to a men’s facility. She wants people to call her “an old hag” rather than “an old coot”. She just wants to be a mother even if she isn’t “biologically a woman” who can bear children. So when she comes across this kid, she thinks, “I will finally be a mother!” These are issues that real people face. These are issues that cisgendered people take for granted.
Madhouse really knocked it out of the park. Satoshi Kon is one of the biggest creators and directors in anime history. He’s known for horror and psychological works like Perfect Blue, Paprika, and Millennium Actress. I never expected him to be this good at making a movie that could move my soul like this. The characters were so far from perfect, yet I wanted the best for each of them. The way it handled everything was masterful. The dialogue worked so well and was witty, the voice actors (despite the main three not being in anything else for the most part) were so good at giving life to their characters, and the art blew me away in 2019 even though this was released in 2003. The only thing I didn’t quite like as much was the score during some parts of the movie, but it was subjectively good and just wasn’t to my taste (the Noragami soundtrack wasn’t a fav of mine either).
Just... watch the movie. If you can watch it around Christmas. It’s good for you.
Tumblr media
Saiunkoku Monogatari
Score: 7.4/10
Yes, I binge-watched all 39 episodes in two days, what’s it to ya?! In reality, I just boosted the speed of the video.
Me throughout this show: Why do you all have triangle heads? What’s with that?
Okay, it’s the art style, and a lot of shoujo anime go with the concept that it looks good. Once you get over the art hurdle making me believe this was created in the early 2000s despite it being 3 years younger than Tokyo Godfathers, this turns out to be a really nice show. I just can’t believe they’re BOTH from Madhouse.
Remember Snow White with the Red Hair? Remember Akatsuki no Yona? If you liked those shows, you’re going to like this one... except it relies more on the political plot. It’s mostly about a woman wanting to pursue her dreams of being a politician in a male-dominated world. She’s entasked with helping this mess of a king to get his act together, and as much as I can try to prove that it’s surprisingly progressive (given the art and genre), I think that’d be spoiling it a little. The only character that actually bothered me was the prince who was voiced by Tomokazu Seki who honestly was a bit annoying and sounded so fake for me. However, this anime made me appreciate Hikaru Midorikawa’s voice as well as Houko Kuwashima who I’ve only heard voicing dead moms and only a few good characters here and there. Seriously, both of their voices are great. Toshiyuki Morikawa sounds good too, but we already knew that. I don’t like the OP or ED (or a whole lot of the music), but that’s the case for a lot of these 2005-era anime. Just like a lot of the anime on MAL, I do think this is an underrated show, but it does have its pitfalls if you’re just craving for a quick shoujo without any politics.
Tumblr media
Full Metal Panic: Second Raid
Score: 7/10
I binge-watched this entire season while my parents were out for dinner and something else. It only took me a couple of hours because I boosted the speed.
I wanted to get a gif specifically from this season, so this one will have to do. So much wasted potential will this character (who’s one of two twins). I know they were trying to play the whole “twincest” thing, but I’m personally not a fan. They provided some cool fight scenes even at a certain cringe cost. The fact that Kyoto Animation animated this bumped the art from a 3 to an 8. It’s crazy how much the quality jumped after a new studio took over. Unfortunately, they didn’t take care of the next season. I know the main ship in the series is pretty clear, but this season made it closer to canon (too bad it took around 13 years to make the next season).
Tumblr media
Kara no Kyoukai (movies: 5, 6, 7)
Score:  Part Five: 7.5/10 Part Six: 5.8/10 Part Seven: 8.2/10
Not gonna lie, I watched the first four movies over a year ago and retained nothing. I had to read the Wikia to assist me and to begin with, I watched this to get into the “Type-Moon” universe (which consists of this and the Fate nonsense stuff), Yuki Kajiura’s score, and Maaya Sakamoto and Kenichi Suzumura voicing a couple. The score would probably change if I’d watched them regularly, but I digress because I watched movies 5-7 in one afternoon. Ufotable was pretty good at animating this and the voice acting worked really well. Yuki Kajiura’s music didn’t hit well at first when I was first watching the first few movies over a year ago because it wasn’t what I envisioned the score being, but once you get into the mood and mindset, it adds so much to the story. Although, I still really didn’t like part six. I thought it was a complete flop because I just want to get rid of anyone who believes i*cest is an okay thing. This isn’t Alabama. Go home. Not else to say here because this took so much commitment that I doubt anyone would watch it.
Tumblr media
Paranoia Agent
Score: 8.6/10
With spoopy month coming to a close (already?!) I watched this anime earlier this month, but I forgot to write about it. That’s partly because there’s so much to unpack here. This was a thriller, psychological, horror anime by Satoshi Kon. That’s right, the first anime above was also done with him in the director’s seat. This anime was smart. There’s a reason why Robin Williams likes it! It was scary in the best of ways. It revealed a part of society that we see all the time but don’t talk about (especially in Japanese society where emotions are better kept concealed). Just the opening alone made me feel uneasy. The OP and ED were simplistic yet worked. I binge-watched the whole series because it was that gripping.
It was a little confusing at times, but that’s also because that’s just a common thing with horror anime. That suspense keeps us going. It keeps us on the edge of our seats. Who’s going to be the next victim of Shounen Bat? Episode 8 came out of nowhere for me, and I liked it. There were several scenes that sent shivers down my spine in the best way possible. It isn’t always “scary”, but it gives suspense.
Tumblr media
Aoi Bungaku
This one is going to be reviewed a little differently. Since it has specific arcs, I’m going to review them as such!
Ningen Shikkaku: 8.2/10
We start off with a bang. Osamu Dazai was a man of suffering. This story really shows that. In this story, we see a man who’s desperate to know what makes him human. We see this through the eyes of a fictional character, but I personally view this as a semi-autobiography.
The art was chilling. The voice acting from Masato Sakai was surprisingly good. A lot of the time, voice acting from live-action actors just aren’t that great. Every time you think this character will get back on his feet, he falls deeper and deeper. It truly did make me wonder what made me human.
Tumblr media
Sakura no Mori no Mankai no Shita: 3.9/10
That moment when the only thing that saves this arc is Nana Mizuki’s singing. Seriously, her jazz songs were awesome. Can’t say that about the rest. I mean, the art is good, but it’s Madhouse so most of their stuff is already good. The story wasn’t that original. Mind you, this was probably during a period where foreign influence was strong, and I haven’t read the original story, but... this is basically Salome (the opera) with some differences. Both have a crazy woman with a fixation over lifeless decapitated heads. Both have men that are captivated with her beauty so they give her what she wants because of that reason alone, they both murder religious people (monk/shrine maiden and a prophet), and both eventually realize that women can be crazy when they demand a lifeless head because you know, that’s just a red flag. Above all, it suffers from tonal shifts. You can’t have a woman turning moe then demand you bring her another head to play with. You can’t have Masato Sakai playing another main character that doesn’t fit him! Seriously, he doesn’t have the voice of a brute and just couldn’t do it. Overall, this arc was a mess, and I’m glad it was one of the shorter ones.
Tumblr media
Kokoro: 7.6/10
This looked like a masterpiece compared to the last arc. I haven’t read Kokoro, but this made me go, “Huh, I don’t remember this happening.” That’s because they chose a certain part of the book (near the end apparently) and just went off that and created its own anime-original episode. Despite that, it was pretty good! There were some screaming discrepancies which did hurt its impression (because it made it feel out of place to the point where even I, as an uneducated anime viewer, could clearly see).
(I think this is from Kokoro but I might be wrong)
Tumblr media
Hashire, Melos!: 8.9/10
Would you look at that? It’s the best arc of the series. Hashire, Melos was great. It had me going from beginning to end, and it’s the only arc that doesn’t have Masato Sakai playing the lead character. The art, the pacing, the storytelling, the story, the sound, the voice acting, and the art direction complemented each other so well. It made me far more interested in the original.
Tumblr media
The Spider’s Thread: 6.6/10
If you look really close, you’ll notice that the creator of Bleach took over character design for this! It was okay. I found that it was a little cliche and lacklustre. Mamo is around so much that you probably have to do more than that to keep my attention, and this had the art going for it too. It just wasn’t that interesting. A heartless murderer is sent to hell after being executed. Moral of the story: Don’t be an asshole. Alright. Nice. I do understand that Ryuunosuke Akutagawa was one of the main establishers of the whole “Japanese Short Story” thing, but after seeing it so many times, I just didn’t get that same chill.
Tumblr media
Hell Screen: 6.9/10
Another Akutagawa short story! This one had far more of an impact because this one hit closer to Akutagawa’s heart. Knowing the history of this piece of writing, you can see his desperation to stay relevant and true to his craft. It’s about a painter who wants to paint the town but finds out the city isn’t the bright light he sees in his mind. Everything goes ablaze. The art for this is stunning. I probably would’ve enjoyed this story more if it was placed in the middle of the series run rather than being the last story.

The animation for this is terrible. There is no way around it. However, at least it’s funny. Still, close to being on the chopping block. It has the papa lion who’s played by Akio Ohtsuka, the straight-man middle lizard played by Kenjirou Tsuda, and the scumbag toucan played by Hiro Shimono. Yes, they all play Hero Academia villains. The jokes are pretty good for me.

Given
Oh, would you look at that? It’s a music anime. *inhales* Music anime is a double-edged sword for me. I like having music interpreted and portrayed through one of my favourite mediums, but I don’t like them playing off music as some sort of easy gimmick and a joke. It’s like a shonen montage. “Let’s just have this guy train for two minutes and become a demigod”. But when you put an instrument into someone’s hand and demand the same, it sends me to another plane of angriness.  So far, the romance is kind of cute... but Mafuyu kind of annoys me since his role in the BL dynamic is so clear just by his voice. Same with Uchida. You can only play so many thugs a season. Kyou? Good. Chika? Good. This guy? Good, but don’t do them all back-to-back! I don’t like the BL dynamic being so basic. However, my mind can be changed if done right.

Very interesting premise, their eyes are cute, and I’m a sucker for these so I’m gonna stick with it.

Why you should watch Canaan
Tumblr media
Alright friends it’s time to bring out the cursed content. Here’s a big post about why you should watch Canaan, an anime based off an extra scenario in the visual novel 428 Shibuya Scramble, conceptualized by none other than the most infamous duo of Kinoko Nasu and Takashi Takeuchi.
What’s it about?
Canaan is a goofy action movie in a 13 episode format about a Middle Eastern mercenary / super-spy with magic eyes called Canaan and her quest to take down her adopted elder sister Alphard Al Sheya, the leader of a bioterrorist organization called Snake, all while keeping her Japanese photographer girlfriend Maria Osawa safe from the crossfire.
The Main Cast
Tumblr media
Canaan
Shiki Ryougi BUT WITH A GUN
No really she’s got some magic synesthesia that gives her Mystic Eyes abilities
She can see feelings and emotions as colors, which basically lets her wallhack by seeing enemies through walls and quickly discern between enemies and civilians.
Gun-fu specialist
Deeply empathetic to others but has difficulty expressing herself
Wants to live a normal and happier life but is consumed by vengeance
Sees herself as a gun instead of a person; no real sense of self
Entertains herself with string like a cat
GAY
Tumblr media
FUCK GRAVITY
Tumblr media
Alphard
Voiced by Maaya Sakamoto doing her Shiki voice so she’s also Shiki, WITH A GUN
Actual Resident Evil villain down to her terrorist plot making use of a sci-fi virus
Extremely hammy and makes little sense.
Even more skilled at gun-fu than Canaan.
Cold sociopath who literally shot her own adoptive father in cold blood
Can literally beat a truck full of men with both arms tied behind her back
Tumblr media
O O F
Tumblr media
Maria Osawa
GAY
Fearless journalist, a photographer out to prove herself.
GAY
Precious pure cinnamon roll
GAY
Canaan’s damsel in distress and the only one who sees Canaan for the person she is
GAY
Her reporter partner treats her like a kid but respects her idealism and instinct
GAY
Poorly hidden Jeanne D’arc recolor, thanks Takeuchi
GAY
Tumblr media
Don’t be fooled you can tell these are Nasu characters when half of their scenes are fucking eating
The Romance
“Ok Shutters you talked up the romance a lot this shit better be good”
Allow me to present the following points for why Canaan and Maria are worth your time
1/3rd of Canaan is made up of their dates.
They go out for ice cream, see the stars, hold hands, affirm that they are the single most important person to each other in the world. Happens like every two-three episodes.
It’s not fanservice.
Make no mistake this is a Nasu and Takeuchi work: you’re getting your fanservice, just not from these two. Their interactions are very pure, focusing a lot more on the emotion of the moment than any male-gazey camera work. I’m gonna tell you now though, they don’t kiss at the end. (BOOOOO)
Their relationship is the story’s main priority
Canaan’s story is dumb as fuck, having a hilariously bad understanding of biological concepts and going about its twists and turns with all the subtlety and care of an 80′s action movie. Where it does put the effort in is portraying how important Canaan and Maria are to each other, spending a lot of time that could have been used to make a more cohesive plot to instead further flesh out their relationship. You learn how they first met, exactly how different they are in terms of their backgrounds, their personalities, and their ideologies, as well as how they build each other up to be better people.
Tumblr media
Shit to watch out for
Like all things that spring from the mind of the Mushroom Man, this show is obviously not without its caveats. Some of these include:
The crazy (possibly incestuous) imouto
Yes Nasu’s worst trope is back in this one. A woman claiming to be Alphard’s biological younger sister appears as a villain who is crazy obsessed with getting her love and approval. She becomes increasingly deranged as the series progresses, and her downfall is a genuinely disturbing thing to see.
Shit gets violent
There is blood everywhere. Bullets, knives, grenades, gas, superpowers, an experimental virus and live wires go flying in every episode. Canaan does not fuck around; she has absolutely no qualms with plugging a man full of bullets should they endanger herself, civilians, or especially Maria. It’s a marked departure from Nasu’s usual protagonists, all who dislike or at least refrain from killing until it’s the only possible option.
Body Horror
Plenty of Canaan’s enemies are superpowered humans who have made themselves bioweapons in order to gain various powers. Some of these powers manifest as light body horror. While I don’t think there’s anything one can classify as extremely nauseating, try not to think about your popcorn while watching. It’s better that way.
Other things you may like to know
The dub is good
If dubs are your thing then Canaan’s got you covered. I can personally confirm that the English dub is excellently done and while you may miss out on some fantastic voice acting from the JP cast, the English cast puts in a few great performances themselves. Especially Maria’s partner, his English VA is hilarious.
Great action scenes
Canaan is adept at fighting in any situation whatsoever, whether that be on the roof of a truck, on top of a train, or inside an underground sci-fi bunker being assaulted by mindblowing (literally) soundwaves. The fights are all really well animated, and there’s even a noticeably distinct fighting style between Canaan and Alphard despite having had the same training, which really helps establish their different personalities.
Jouji Nakata plays a crazy fucking taxi driver who drives on anything but the road all the while singing along to his favorite idols.
YOROKOBE, CANAAN
No seriously
I probably should have led with this
See it for yourself
youtube
Now do yourself a favor and watch Canaan. It’s dumb. It’s fun. It’s a good, gay time and your best look at what the Type-Moon duo can do when asked to make an action movie. If you love Type-Moon’s balance of Unlimited Bullshit Works with Endearing and Well-Written Character Relationships, you’ll have a grand old time.
And if for some reason you’re following me and seeing this post despite not being a Nasu fan, see it anyway! It takes place outside his literary universe and does things just differently enough that it just might be your cup of tea.

April 2011 Backstage Journal: Romeo et Juliette (Hanabuki Noa)
Backstage Journal is a short Kageki feature where very young cast members write anecdotes about what’s going on behind the scenes of the productions. They’re not very deep, being full of emojis and more like blog entries than articles, but they are a good way to get to know the newest actresses in each troupe.
This one is by Snow Troupe member Hanabuki Noa (of the 93rd Class), and was published in the April 2011 issue.
Romeo et Juliette Backstage Journal - Hanabuki Noa
Hello to everyone reading this April issue of Kageki 💖 I've been generously given a second opportunity to write a Backstage Journal. I'm a Ken-5 member of Snow Troupe, Hanabuki Noa. I'd like to tell you all about behind the scenes of the Tokyo performance of Romeo et Juliette ✨
The Montague Friends
The 16 Montague boys and girls, under their leader Maisaki-san, are all as close as a real family. Like in the lyrics, "From morning till night 🎶" all of us childhood friends are able to communicate all throughout Les Rois du Monde and Le Reine Mab 🎶 and of course, with Romeo, Benvolio and Mercutio as well 💖 When Romeo agrees to go to the masquerade due to those deep bonds, all the Montagues are in high spirits, and all 16 of us are doing adlibs as we run offstage singing "From morning till night 🎶" It's always Maisaki-san who thinks of these things, like Mana (Haruto)-san deliberately getting all the notes wrong, or making Hanaka (Yurin)-san sing all by herself. So, Suzuse (Miuto)-san got the idea 'Today, we should do that to Hime-san (Maisaki)!!' and spread the ultra secret message among all 15 other Montagues below her.
Hime-san gave her instruction of "Today Mana-san will sing" and we all waited eagerly with our hearts pounding for the exit to come… "PAOLA (Maisaki)!! One, two—"
A ton of question marks seemed to appear around Hime-san's head as we all called out. It was a total success ✨ Even though it was for just a moment, I felt our Montague teamwork even stronger than ever.
Do you like strawberries!?
One day, when we returned to performances after a day off, Toumi (Sarasa) received some amazingly delicious strawberries as part of her refreshments. "Ah ✨ It's strawberries ✨" —such an unusual atmosphere all around. As for why we responded like that to the strawberries...the truth is...on our day off, a ton of us had gone to see a performance of Love and Youth in Takarazuka. Right after the debut rockette there's that famous scene with Snow Troupe otokoyaku Ryuutan-san* ✨ She looked so beautiful walking around jauntily with the tray full of strawberries. Toumi-san stood up silently, held the tray in one hand, and out the other hand on her hip to do a model's catwalk. We all love parodies so we got so excited ⤴️ "Do you like strawberries?!" When she mimicked Ryuutan-san's line so many voices were bouncing around saying "AHHHH 💖 Ryuutan-san!" After that this became the rule, and when they happened to receive strawberries later, Ayanagi (Shou)-san, Oosumi (Rei)-san, and Ayakaze (Sakina)-san all transformed into Ryuutan-san and strolled up and down the dressing room asking "Do you like strawberries?"
I still have so much I would love to tell you all, but I have to conclude here… Two of my dear classmates, Yuka (Chise Hijiri) and Mameya (Suzuran Maaya) have retired with this as their final production. Their personalities are totally different and they both like to do things in their own way, and when they're talking to each other it goes like "Today I'm a HUNGRY MAN**" Apparently this is what they say when they're starving, but when I heard it for the first time, I thought maybe they were talking about some superhero show… I'll miss these two cute and funny 'hungry men' now that they have retired, but I hope that they have wonderful lives on their new path. And I hope I can encounter all of you readers again onstage or in Kageki… ✨
*In the 2011 stage adaptation of TV drama Love and Youth in Takarazuka,the character of Ryuutan/Mineno Shirayuki was played by Makoto Tsubasa and Kozuki Wataru.

Note
I have a question about THE TOPIC. How is Grell being referred to by other shinigami in the original manga?
Dear Anon,
【Edit April 19th, 2019】(some minor typos and vague phrasing)
Throughout the entire manga of Kuroshitsuji, there has not been a single reference to Grell’s gender made by other characters than herself, either during the Jack the Ripper Arc, or after.
NOTE: I have checked the ENTIRE manga for this post. Please note that I am simply stating facts here. Please do NOT start a discussion or spread hate underneath this post.
1. Honorifics - San, Kun, Chan
During the Jack the Ripper Arc, Sebastian did refer to Grell by Mr. Grell in English, but only because the ‘san’ in Grell-san (by which Sebas addresses Grell) cannot be translated into English in a gender neutral way. And at the time, Grell was indeed posing as a male butler.
As Grell was doing a performance as ‘the male butler’, it is only natural to address the role she plays, and not the actress behind the character. Just like how we still refer to 1. Ciel with he/him, while his voice actor is Sakamoto Maaya, a woman. Similarly in the musical, 2. Doll with she/her, while her actor Shitara Ginga is a boy, and 3. Peter by he/him, despite his actress being Kurachi Ayuka, a woman. The same rule would obviously apply to 4. Grell in the musical, who is played by a male actor, Uehara Takuya.
Tumblr media
“Ah, but this time after the completion of the script, I had a request to Grell’s actor Mr. Uehara. “Could you please [play her] as a strong woman”, I said (laughs)In the original comics, Grell does not make an appearance between the Red Butler Arc and the Luxury Liner Arc, and therefore people often think she is useless at her job. So I asked [Mr. Uehara] to please portray her as a career woman in front of her kouhai (younger colleague, aka Ronald)” 【Toboso】
Most people have probably seen this post already, but @akumadeshitsumon wrote an extensive post about this topic, wherein they also translated this tweet with added explanation.
Tumblr media
Chapter 64
Undertaker: “君 どっかで見たと思ったら マダム・レッドの執事やってた死神クンかあ”
“Kimi, dokka de mita to omottara, Madam Red no shitsuji yatteta shinigami-kun kaa”
“You, I thought I’ve seen you somewhere before, you’re the (junior) reaper who posed as Madam Red’s butler.”
Undertaker refers to Grell as ‘shinigami-kun’. As far as I have understood, in Japanese learning environments, ‘kun’ is usually explained as an honorific used for men. While it is indeed often the case that ‘kun’ is used for boys/men, Undertaker uses this honorific as someone in the position of senpai.
In business settings, many superiors address their juniors with ‘kun’. Especially female workers are usually addressed with ‘kun’ regardless of the status in a workplace. (yes, it does come from a place of sexism.) In short; ‘kun’ is not an inherently male-gendered honorific. Considering how Undertaker is known as ‘the legendary reaper’, he is obviously in his right to assume the position of ‘the senior’ in face of Grell, the junior.
Chapter 124
In contrast, Othello refers to Grell with ‘chan’. ‘Chan’, as most are aware, is usually - though not exclusively - applied to female persons.
Othello: “いやいや グレルちゃん”
“Iya iya, Grell chan”
It is now more clear that Othello is - year wise- Grell’s senior. But in interacting with Grell, Othello is much more on equal terms, and therefore he does not use ‘kun’ for Grell, but instead ‘chan’. i.e., Othello does not pull rank on Grell.
In a nutshell, the honorifics employed by Undertaker and Othello respectively, are telling the readers something about the rank-dynamics rather than gender-dynamics.
2. Pronouns in Japanese - Null-Subject Language
Japanese is a null-subject language, which means that a sentence does not require to have a subject. In English, we say “I drink tea”. You cannot simply say “drink tea” without it becoming imperative. In Japanese however, it is even considered rather unnatural to include the ‘I’ in the sentence.
私はお茶を飲みます (Watashi wa ocha wo nomimasu)
(Adding the ‘Watashi wa’ will in effect sound like: “It is I, who drinks tea!”Please click here for more about the Japanese language.)
Kuroshitsuji is not an exception either. Like I mentioned above, throughout the entire manga, there has not been a single reference to Grell’s gender made by other characters. Please see the following examples:
Tumblr media
Chapter 35
William: “本日付けでアレの謹慎が解けるので嫌な予感がしていたのですが…外れたとは僥倖でした”
“Honjitsuzuke de are no kinshin ga tokeru node iya na yokan ga shiteita no desuga… Hazureta to ha gyoukou deshita.”
“As of today, that thing’s confinement is over and I had a very bad premonition… but I consider myself fortunate I was wrong.”
____________
William: “それは残念でしたね 貴方も アレも”
“Sore wa zannen deshita ne, anata mo, are mo.”
“That is most unfortunate, for both you and that thing.”
____________
Ronald: ”そーいや サトクリフ先輩なら異常なテンションで別件行きました”
“So- iya, Sutcliff-senpai nara ijou na tension de bekken ikimashita kedo.”
“Welp, if it is Sutcliff-senpai you are talking about, *[Grell] went to a different case with unusual energy.”
*This is an example of how the null-subject quality of Japanese works. In Japanese, because the subject of the sentence is already clear, namely ‘Suttcliff-senpai’, it would be very unnatural to add another reference there, just like in the “I drink tea” example.
In English however, the opposite is true; if the translator wishes to keep the original grammatical structure, it would be very unnatural to not add another reference and translate: “He/She/They went to […]”. In translating Japanese, the translator is often forced to assume what this intended subject is supposed to be.
In one of the English scanlations I found, the translators did manage to excellently dodge the pronoun.

Similarly, neither does Sebastian use any pronouns for Grell, nor does he even use a subject in his language.
Tumblr media
In chapter 12, Sebastian says the following:
Sebastian: “では その害獣に迷惑をかけない様 しっかり見張っておいて下さい”
“Dewa, sono gaijuu ni meiwaku wo kakenai you, shikkari mihatte oite kudasai.”
“Well then, please make sure to keep a watchful eye so that [Grell (Subject)] will not cause this vermin (sentence Object) any trouble.”
In this sentence, the subject - being Grell - is omitted too for natural flow of the Japanese language.
Tumblr media
In the Campania Arc, Grell is being referred to as follows:
Chapter 53
Ronald: “ウチの先輩がお世話んなってマース”
“Uchi no senpai ga osewan nattema-su.”
“My senpai has been in your care.”
____________
Chapter 57
Lizzie: “何あの人!?”Sebas: “ただの変態です 近付くと伝染する恐れがありますのでお下がりください!”
Lizzie: “Nani ano hito!?”Sebas: “Tada no *hentai desu, chikazuku to densen suru osore ga arimasu node osagari kudasai!”
Lizzie: “What’s with that person!?”Sebas: “[Grell] is just a pervert, there is risk of contagion upon close contact *[with Grell], so please stay back!”
*Here gain, Sebas uses the verb ‘desu’ (is/are) without subject, and also without object in the second part of the sentence, for the benefit of a natural flow inJapanese.
____________
Chapter 58 where O!Ciel stops Sebas from chasing Grell.
O!Ciel: “そんな奴に構ってる場合じゃない!”
“Sonna yatsu ni kamatteru baai janai!”
“This is not the time to engage *that person!”
*In Japanese, ‘Yatsu’ is inherently a gender neutral word that refers to ‘that person’ or ‘that thing’. Usually ‘Yatsu’ is applied to men or boys because the word is not very elegant, and it is considered rude to refer to women using ‘Yatsu’. When no respect or elegance is required for the speaker however - such as in O!Ciel’s case - ‘Yatsu’ is universally applicable to men, women, persons of other genders, and even items.
Example:
Q: “Would you like to have the green bag, or the red bag?”
A: “赤のやつ” (Aka no Yatsu) “The red one”
Tumblr media
Chapter 64
Ronald: “先輩のが俺より強いし そっちはおまかせしまっす”
“Senpai no ga ore yori tsuyoi shi, socchi wa omakase shimassu”
“Senpai is much stronger than I am, I will leave the Undertaker to [Grell].
