watching this episode of critical role has only made me wonder what this campaign could have been if planerider ryn wasn't petrified at the malleus key.

bell's hells would have had their own arcana pansophical wizard (allura for vox machina, yussa for the mighty nein).

less emphasis on keyleth as a means of getting places. less reliance on ira and morri as high level allies. less calls to vox machina and the mighty nein after they met.

awareness of the lore of the grim verity and what they were doing. potential insight into predathos and the gods, as well as the make up of the divine gate. insight into the elemental planes and what the titans might do with exandria given free reign again.

the perspective of someone who has seen the world as an insider and an outsider, who isn't a world leader, but has a wide ranging view and an interest in the continued existence of the world(s).

Meet the party! And our antagonist!

Celest | The Card-Reader (Celestine) (belongs to me, Paper Type, she/they)

A silent card-reader who has an unusual fascination with stars. Her predictions are unnervingly accurate, even if they don’t always happen as expected.

 A walking Greek tragedy, shameless Islander insert oc, and the most emotionally dysregulated being in the Universe next to Siffrin or Himawari, but is VASTLY worse hiding it. She's honestly one of my most fleshed out characters, and if I'm being honest I've vastly enjoyed writing her interactions with the party. If you were given a nickel for every time she had a mental breakdown and/or cried during the course of the plot you’d be able to retire even in the United States economy because she may say absolutely nothing but that doesn’t mean that she doesn’t burst into tears like someone watching Bambi’s mom die on repeat. She makes up for it by probably being the Universe’s second favorite mistake of nature next to the Siffrins and having Universe-powered deus ex machina moments, including:

Predicting people’s deaths! 

Finding a series of long lost gods, which definitely has no consequences at all! (lie)

Solving Zelda dungeons using the power of playing cards!

Unlocking forbidden knowledge! With no consequences at all! (even bigger lie)

Avoiding asking for help because of a misguided sense of independence and a self-imposed obligation to base the worth of her life off of carrying out the Universe’s will and helping people to make up for the crime of predicting people’s deaths!

Resurrecting the dead!

Predicting people’s deaths and resurrecting them!

Gambling!

She uses tarot cards as a conduit for her craft– all her craft skills are named after specific major arcana cards, and each party mamber has a designated card.

Himawari | The Ghost (belongs to @dasnercaret, Rock Scissors Type, he/they

Mysterious and tall, with a eagle-like lacquer mask and unusually traditional wear. They're really a nice person underneath their ominous exterior, and have plenty of interesting stories— even if they occasionally contradict.

Default party leader, Meta Knight gijinka (as coined by @smokin-salmon), and the local Dark Souls boss who can and will beat you into the ground at a moment’s notice. But don’t worry, he’s got a heart of gold– no, don’t look at the body count. Has a tragic backstory befitting of his edginess that boils down to having his dad instilling in him a martyr complex so strong that we’ve lost track of the amount of times he’s probably been in near death experiences because he feels a personal responsibility to protect the party. He proceeded to spend the next nine years disassociating so hard that even Siffrin would be impressed, before being forcefully adopted by a 12 year old who decided that they’re friends now and are having soft tacos later. He dies, but don't worry, he gets better, just. Not fast. A solid 50% of this story's angst is sourced directly from this idiot's siffrin-level repressed mental issues. His plotline essentially drives this entire story to the point that he is literally the final boss. no, i will not elaborate on that.

Ori (Orion) | The Wallflower (belongs to @scramblecat, Paper Type, he/him)

A traveler from Vaugarde, able to bring his origami creations to life. His kind and welcoming personality makes him easily likable… but for whatever reason, he has a tendancy to be forgotten.

The consequences of fusing Isabeau and Odile into a person who is the most functional and average human being on earth, except for the fact that he’s got the transgenderism, runs with a gang of trauma-bonded idiots, and accidentally turned himself into SCP 055 Lite by choosing the name of a constellation for his name before the Island got Nuked™. Now everyone who meets him turns into you when you can never remember the name of that coworker you’ve been sitting next to for two years straight and talk to every day. His power is being annoying to any enemy in his vicinity by giving everyone papercuts and buffing the party with the power of paper crafts until they turn into the fantasy RPG equivalent of the Russians in the 2020 Olympics. If it wasn’t for him being the most emotionally stable member of the party the other three would have probably succumbed to the disaster that is a plot with no levity or character development and serves only as the fuel for an AO3 author’s hurt/no comfort addiction.

Haruka | The Child (belongs to @aquakirb, Rock Type, she/her)

A cheery runaway kid studying to become a healer. She does her best to help out the party in any way she can, however small. 

Literally the purest thing to grace the Universe. A ray of sunshine that knows no bounds. If you even consider making her sad, you will have half of Ka Bue on your heels ready to kill you, including Himawari, who will probably get to you first. She’s the party’s Bonnie, but do NOT get it twisted that she's a Bonnie clone; she doesn’t have a clue how to cook and doesn’t have nearly as much repressed anger. Actually kind of the opposite. She's strangely mature for her age despite being relatively cheerful and coming off as more childish from an external POV.  Her mom is a mysterious but well-known healer who's been training her since she was six and has essentially turned her into a pint-sized emergency response team.  She has the brand of ADHD that pulls out random information about their interests at the most random times and with zero context.  Also she technically killed a god, but that’s not even worth going on her resume.

Aega | The Eternal Rest (belongs to @dasnercaret, Scissors/Rock Type, she/it/they)

A broken and corrupted Expression, existence wiped away alongside The Universe and it's guides. She wish is to restore that which has been lost, to be remembered... no matter the cost. Her Craft spreads across the land, warping reality as it attempts to restore her power through the dreams of those who fall under her spell. 

This bitch. THIS BITCH. I have never simultaneously hated and loved a character in my LIFE. To pair down an extremely complex and lore-heavy explanation, Aega is what happens when you make a god that has extreme power and then make all of reality forget she exists. She's the Expression of the Moon, and essentially presided over the night in its entirety, including the massive amount of constellations that make up an entire religious sect of the Universe Religion; it takes every white girls obsession with their horoscope and the absolutely astounding level of syncretic dissemination that buddhism had on the world, stuffs it in a blender, and makes a smoothie that tastes like existential loneliness, mommy issues, and almost a decades worth of stored up power that she can and will use to do whatever the fuck she wants. And what she wants is for people to stop ignoring her! she doesn't care if that involves the dismantling of reality or the destruction of entire human race, because when you're a god, your sense of object permanence is so skewed that you may as well be an Elden Ring character. Her entire motive is pretty much a mimic of the King, except instead of freezing people in time she puts them to sleep and freezes them! But it's less freezing and more turning them into a cocoon because the Lady Ethereal butterfly dream symbolism energy is OFF THE CHARTS. Her color is that electric blue that everyone wanted to dye their hair in the 2010s and also her namesake. Bet you can't guess what animal it is. (It's a butterfly.) (The Aega Morpho.)

My thoughts about episode 2, season 3 of The Legend of Vox Machina :

The new opening credits are so so good. My sister and my friend whith whom I was watching the 1st time, both noted it and enjoyed it a lot, while noting that it seemed "quite sad" (I nodded and said nothing). My sister especially loves the music, the moment if flares and goes epic !

Gilmore is so fabulous with his magic fan, I want the same

I'm intrigued how well Anna Ripley's desire for the Vestiges integrates well in this storyline. In the Campaign, if I'm not mistaken or remember poorly, it wasn't clear why she stole Cabal's Ruin, except to make Percy follow her and kill him. But here we have the idea that the guns, this new kind of weapon, is dangerous it could change the world for the worse if everyone had that nuclear option. And the beginning of the idea that technology and the arcana are compatible (hello, ancient wizards cities who did the same thing...). Good intro of key elements.

THE RUBY OF THE SEA SONG IS SO GOOD. And same, I love that they are introducing "tools that will help us later" like that Mickey meme says. I launched myself off the couch at the Ruby mention and my sister didn't know why.

Oh, there it is, a Pock O'Pea original ! I missed it the first time watching. I got the Taste of Tal'Dorei, though :

I knew they were going to the Hells this season, and I love this change. In the campaign, it came way later, after the dragons' defeat, and of course, as they are more focused on story arc and didn't include Hotis, it makes sense to keep this trip but change the why. I do wonder if we'll hear a certain werebear, voiced by N. D. Stevenson...

Im back, now i will be clarifiying things and adding new lore.

First of all the reason why jun needs to master his powers is because the one and only highest eldritch being known as the "Phenomenal Unknown" is the only eldritch that has the power to control other eldritches and even steal there powers by devouring their Singularity Sphere which unfortunately weakens the eldritch into melted lump. Which is why jun needs to master it since its the only way for him to protect himself and strengthen his will and mental endurance against the phenomenal unknown more advance powers.

Note: Jun is fine he didn't transform into any monster he still him but internal organs are different now

For the Phenomenal Unknown, when the universe was nothing more than a never ending empty void, there was obviously nothing, until a silent ring of a voice was heard, it can hear itself but can't hear it at the same time. Overtime its voice started to grow louder enough for it to finally hear it at clear volume, it can finally hear but can't see, so it opened its eyes and its still dark, it thought its eyes were still close, it realized that even with open eyes darkness consumes thee. It was born in a empty and lonely world, so it decided that if it wants to create a world with life then let darkness be my power to make it, as long as there is darkness my power will forever expand. I am everywhere in ever corner of the universes darkness.

He chanted words that created dim lights all across the empty cosmos, his chant created the first eldritches, the most powerful and ancient the "Cosmos Singgularia", and the ChaosBringer is one of them.

In this AU jun has his usual cardbots until they met the "Genesis crew" a elite mercerary group tasked to hunt down eldritch bots called MurderBots to extinction. The task was unfinished but they landed on earth to try and recover and maybe just quit their job and live peacefully until jun befriend-no-jutsu them and got sealed in the metal breath.

Also the fact that there is just a cosmic horror wandering around stealing eldritch’s powers is a terrifying thing. Imagine how Jun would feel when he first hears about it, “Yeah, you need to get stronger or you’ll become a powerless melted lump.” Jun looks at the person in shock, “what”

And I love how you described the Phenomenal Unknown and how they created the Cosmos Singgularia, it really does feel like it’s talking about a creature beyond human knowledge

Imagine being on the Genesis Crew and after hunting down eldritch bots for years you decide to finally take a break after Machina gets destroyed, but then this eldritch kid comes out of the woodwork with the Metal Breath and freaking befriend-no-jutsu’s you, how do you react to that, what do you do in that situation. Also I would love to know what the Genesis Crew looks like!!

I can’t wait to hear about the Arcana Beasts and Jun’s new power!!!!

Ok, now we (kinda) understand why the Unseelie Court is after Fearne specifically (even before the incident with the Malleus Key).

Why is the Seelie Court after her? It seemed very personal for Lady Elmenore. She sent the forlarren who has informed a lot of Fearne’s hesitation to take the shard.

I think Lady Elmenore said she wants Fearne BACK??? It just seemed like it was about more than the Calloways being targeted by both courts after they stole Moontide Crown.

6 powerful Archfey known to the Arcana Pansophical:

Artagan (no court), he has fucked off to the Material Plane

Elmenore (Seelie) she sent a forlarren after Fearne. Loquatious Seelie refused her call to come home to safety.

Keeper of the Moontides (???), their crown was stolen by Fearne’s parents

Sammanar (Unseelie), they are working with Ludinus. Fearne’s biological father reports to them. They want the Moonweaver dead? This is the extremely dangerous person members of Vox Machina got a glimpse of when they snuck into the Theatre.

That's the first time I've done something so complicated and complex. I hate the fact that it took me few months but I imagine that's a reality of drawing when also working full time and being a game master.

I will definetely try to work on such complex illustration more often between drawing RPG characters for my campaigns. There is some room for improvement for this one but I am proud of it 'cause it's the best one so far.

Double Critical Role days return! I imagine many of you caught the premiere of The Legend of Vox Machina season three. If no, go, go, go! But, that's not what this is about. This is a call list for tonight's episode of campaign: currently 31 items, and this here's the BingoBaker link.

Some notes:

"elsewhere" is anywhere that isn't Vasselheim or the Fey Realm.

"Gloamglut shooed away" is they basically have to "go on, get!" at Gloamglut, where "Gloamglut simply leaves" is leaving on its own without having to get coaxed at. "Gloamglut still at Morri's" is that it is still there when Bells Hells leaves.

"new magic item" can also be a gift from Morri, but it cannot be Dusk Hunger.

"new recurring NPC" is any character who was in a prior campaign who has not previously appeared in THIS campaign. For example, Victor would count.

As always, there is a faint chance I will add a couple more squares, but the call list is set once the opening title starts. I will make a post if I add anything. And, again, as always, I'm glad to ask any questions you have about squares, and I do like to see your bingos and almost bingos even if I don't always respond—but I do always see.
